Hi!
Is it possible to get this today-plugin mapped to a soft- or hardkey? If not, does a similar app exists to unlock the device with 2 keystrokes?
???
There are a couple of apps out there that will lock the screen. ScreenLock is one of them - it requires you to press two buttons at once. Another is MortSaver. Just do a search on the usual PPC software sites for "lock".

Place the device lock Plug in at the top of your "Today" screen (must disable Date plugin). When you are in today screen, you can scroll (arrow down) one click and then click on the action button to lock device.

Genius lateral thinking. I like that. Well Done
Two new tools were released the last few days, the both use the built-in device lock. Have a look here:

and here:

Haven't yet figured out if I can also unlock without pulling out the stylus. Anyone know?

you can, but the plugin was designed for devices that have a full phone pad available when the screen is (e.g. smartphones, mostly); it uses the * key. You can use the same key on the wizard, but of course you have to slide out the keyboard for that
hehe, I already tried that and it's "a bit" inconvenient (considering that i also have to press the "blue dot" key to get the *)
But thanks for replying

THIS ONE works perfect!
http://www.mr2-power.com/downloads/DeviceLock.CAB
Just install it. Map it to a hardwarekey and there you go. I have it running on my MDA Vario and it works just perfect. One button push and the device is locked. You can even change settings ( just go to settings/system and you will see a new icon - Device Lock - )
Super little helper! This is a (IMHO) must-have-tool

you are correct in that this tool is great ! How do I map it to a key though...
1. Start > Settings > |Personal| > Buttons
2. Select a button from the list
3. Under "Assign a program:" pick "Device Lock"
done
I came across a problem when I try to uninstall the program. After a successful unintall, I simply soft resetted my device. When the deviced booted back up, I received an error message stating that it failed to start the Device Lock program and showed the path where it used to be installed.
I looked at all the locaitons where it might have left a trail but at the end, the error message would constantly show up and slow my device down.
I had to hard reset the device. Why does it do that ?
The program may have left a notification in the notification queue. Speak to Matt to check if the program removes this on uninstallation, or remove it manually with Memaid or SKTools.
My app can remove its own notification with the -remove command line.
But you should remove the notification before uninstallation to prevent the message.

Is there a way to enable automatic key lock? I know you can put a security code lock but that is not what I am refering to. On the today screen you can press the lock icon "device unlocked" to lock the screen on the phone. I am looking for an automatic version of this function.
come on i know there has to be a solution to this

Hi,
On my MDA Vario, under Settings, System then Power, under advance you can set the device to turn off, i.e. still working, but can not be unlocked by tapping, you have to press the power button.
Hope it helps.

There's a program here made for Windows Mobile Smartphone. You could try and see if it works on the Wizard. If it does let us know.

This seems to run ok on my MDA Vario WM5, just play about with the settings, under Program Files/Autolock when installed.

Hi,
Has anybody found a solution please ?
Automatic keylock does not work on my HTC cruise.
Also, has anyone found a better solution than the original one to unlock the device since it is hard to see something under the sun to unluck it while screen is in the dark, isn't it ?
Thanks in advance.
Didier.
Hi,
I found a ggod program to lock the htouch: S2U2.
Working perfectly.
Have a nice day.
Is there a program that will do what the title of the thread suggests? That is, I want to be able to force whatever screen is currently displayed to rotate to landscape when I press the multimedia button. I do not want any auto-rotation. I want to be able to completely control when the screen rotates.
You can do it under the buttons menu in settings
I have mine set as 'Okay'

I'm sorry but I don't see that option. When I select Buttons -- Multimedia Key it only allows me to assign a program to opne or some simple commands such as <OK/Close>, <Context Menu>, <Scroll> etc.

Hey you are welcome! I tried it on mine to and like it well.
I have several apps which work fine on phone.
They also run on the tablet - BUT there is no menu icon, neither at the bottom next to the 3 standard ones, nor is there a menu icon in the upper right corner. There is no menu icon.
So I wonder if someone has a trick to send a "menu pressed" signal to the app so i can access the settings.
I know i know, tell them to update their apps, but some people have left and others will take years to fix that if ever -
So i thought perhaps there was some sort of shortcut or perhaps hack which could make a menu appear? You know like you can record keypresses on a PC and then play them back.
The soft menu button on the screen works fine for me, its the 4th icon (Series of lines, top one one is longest) - same goes for the menu button that's on the keyboard.

Yes..
It also works for me when they are there. But they are NOT THERE for the apps in question.
I think you got this backwards,
The menu button will only appear if the app has a settings menu.
Majority of the Honeycomb optimized apps do not have a menu button because there either isn't no menu for that app or they have moved the menu button to the action bar on the top right, which is the new standard
The settings button is primarily used for backwards compatibility with older apps. This is why developers are removing the menu buttonwhen they optimize their app.

As I also indicated, there is nothing "optimized" about these apps. (And these have many settings which are now unreachable)

Some apps on the phone will scale differently on a tab, if you used the menu button n your phone doesn't necessarily mean the tablet version will need a hard menu button.
As I said before, if there is no menu button the bottom nav bar, it would be on the top right corner of the action bar. Older phone apps should show up a menu button automatically anyway. The only reason if there isnt one is that the developer chose so because they added one on the action bar.

Can you give us an example?
I've yet to encounter a single application with this issue, so I'd like to take a look.

I see, in this case its the developers fault. For some reason he disabled the menu button which should be there by default.

Alright alright :/ Sorry that I am not any help but as far as I know there isn't any way to forcefully press the menu button.
The only option is to contact the dev and say the menu button is disabled.

You mean the 'lock' icon placed right in the middle-bottom of the lockscreen?
If it's so, that is never supposed to happen. That icon is there to swipe up and unlock the screen.
Please let me know if I understood wrong.

yes, you are right. I mean that icon, and i think i did not descripted exactly.
if i turn on the "smart lock", and press the power button. The lockscreen might be lighted, and the 'lock' icon should be a "open lock", i can go to the main-screen without the password. Then i can click the 'lock' icon to make it closed, and need the password to go to the main-screen.
Do i descripted clear?

Yes, I just gave a try to Smart Lock, that I have never used before. Did you try resetting Smart Lock? May be try it once, and let me know.
By resetting, I mean to add your desired trusted attributes again, and also the PIN/Password/Pattern lock.

If nothing works, you can always reset your device back to stock, and try again. Sorry, I do not have any more ideas on how to solve this.
EDIT: Just a wild guess, remove the lock from PIN/Pattern/Password, back to Swipe or None, and then again set the lock. See if this helps.
