anyone that knows a easy way to put google apps on the new cyanogenmod update please help
mytouch 3g white
android 1.6 rooted
There are 3 ways that I know of
1) Flash a theme onto your rom and hope that the theme includes the google apps.
2) Follow this link and read this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=565155
And the third one, I can't find the link to it, but there's a guy on the Dream development forums that puts the google apps on the latest cyan for you to flash.
true well find the link lol i cant even get myfaves back on cm 4.0.4 i downgreaded till i find the way to do it. ive done the myfaves mount many of times b4 but now it wont effing work. any ideas why?
Okay well I found the link, but it seems the person that posted the rom with the apps has pulled it, your gonna have to use one of the first 2 methods i showed you.
Just curious, but what Google Apps are missing after Cyanogen 4.2.3.1? I've flashed my MT3G so many times over the last couple of months that I can't tell what's missing. I'm running Cyanogen now.
all the google apps are missing form the new cm update. google sent cm a c&d so he cant use google apps anymore
I can only recall 2 but they may be the only ones and they are Google maps and android market. Kush i recommend you follow that link and just do what the guide says to do and it'll work, i did that and it worked just fine.

I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but whenever I install CM I have both Android Market and Google Maps. I completely wipe and re-format my SD card when applying any ROM. Does the HTC Rooted Base .zip file contain Market and Maps because I promise those two apps are there after applying CM 4.2.3.1?

ive flashed the CM 4.2.3.1 like 500000000000x and those apps arnt there the cm update cant have google apps
If you follow the full directions for flashing Cyanogen 4.2.3.1, you'll have all of the Google apps (the full Google Experience, even). I can attest to this, having done this exact install myself last week (from stock Donut, fresh out of box, 2 hours after the nice lady at the T-Mobile store handed it to me).
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Full_Update_Guide_-_MT3G/Magic_Firmware_to_CyanogenMod
That guide also includes rooting your phone from stock donut 1.6, which you probably don't need as you've stated that you've flashed cyanogen's mod at least once. But note that it's a multi-step process the first time after version 4.1.99 (or so): do a full wipe, install the rooted 1.6 base, then WITHOUT REBOOTING, install cyanogenmod 4.2.3.1. Then you can reboot, and you should be golden.

Like it says on that wiki page, in the section labeled "File Download", "Due to recent events, CyanogenMod can no longer distribute Google specific apps with his ROMS. The way around this is to download and install the legal Google apps and then install CyanogenMod on top of those apps. The good news is that it works, the bad news is that it requires an extra step or two in the install process. Most people will need only two files."
Then in step 1, there's a link to a (mostly) stock 1.6 ROM image, the file "HTC_ADP_1.6_DRC83_rooted_base.zip". It contains a stock 1.6 installation, including the Google apps. This is the file that you want when the instructions say "download and install the legal Google apps". If you follow ALL of the instructions, exactly as they're written, you'll get what you want...

Sweet deal now that I Know that it HAS to be
That zip of 1.6
Hello.
I have followed EXACTLY the instructions given in the link (and in the wiki).
I totally have the apps. But the problem is that if I try to download an application from android Market it is blocked.
For example :
If I try to donwload facebook for android, I go on the android Market, search facebook, click on install.
And then there is a waiting bar on top telling me : download is about to begin.
But it never begins...
Anybody has this problem ?
Is it because I didn't format my SD card ?...

Hi all
I have been using CyanogenMod roms for a while now and everything has worked great. Yesterday I loaded an eclair 2.0 rom I found somewhere, did`nt work well at all, so went back to CyanogenMod rom however after loading the rom when it boots up for the first time it no longer goes through setup or askes for my google username and password, there is no market application showing or google mail. I have tried several of CyanogenMod roms, same on all of them I am wiping before loading new roms. Its not the roms as they have all worked well before. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Have you redownloaded signed_dream_devphone_userbug-ota-14721.zip ? I would flash that then DONT reboot then flash cyanogen's mod and then reboot. Here is the wiki you can look at its very informative http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Full_Update_Guide_-_G1/Dream_Firmware_to_CyanogenMod .
thanks for the reply, can`t seem to find a download for signed_dream_devphone_userbug-ota-14721.zip, can u point me in the right direction.
Thanks
Read the wiki, it's right there, or use google.
Maybe I am just bieng a little silly here but the links don`t seem to be working on the htc site, is there anywhere else they are available.
Thanks

Linking to HTC was part of Cyanogen's intention because you have to accept HTC's license agreement to use the software, making it the legal workaround that CyanogenMOD is
I did go to HTC site also and the only working downloads right now are the fastboot downloads. Could this be a bad thing another hurdle to cross in Cyanogen's development. A fluke, or maybe we'll be seeing a 2.0 ADP image???? I'm on pins & needles!
Found a work around to get the downloads needed,PM me if you need it.
Thanks
Andy
I'm having the same issue here. I tried to use the market and gmail app and neither are working for me. I'm quite sure that I installed each of the files in the right order, as I was following the exact instructions. But it's still not working right. I was on JF 1.5 and went to the newest CyanoMod update since JF is no longer updating his custom rom. Would it be best to go back to an earlier CM rom? Or is there a fix in the works?
by the way, I'm using
HTC_ADP_1.6_DRC83_rooted_base.zip
and
update-cm-4.2.5-signed.zip
(bumping to see if anyone might actually have a solution)
I have pretty much the same problem...
a few days ago my phone started spazzing after installing Cyanogen's 4.2.11 and there was nothing i could do except formatting my sd card and a factory reset... eventually, i got my phone back to work, but it only came with all of the default apps except for the Android Market.
So then i tried to install the HTC recovery image along with cyanogen 4.2.11.1 to see if that would fix my problem, but my market app is STILL missing. I really need my market app back -____- even though cyanogen's rom comes with slideme mobentoo marketplace, the app force closes whenever i try to open it.
can anyone help?
First off, ive been searching and trying different roms for hours to no prevail. I will begin with what ive accomplished and attempted. BTW, im a complete noob to rooting.
I followed the 1.5 to 2.1 sticky "[Walkthrough] From stock (1.5) to rooted 2.1 (update - new link)". I successfully completed part 1 and part 2 but fail on part 4. I did not attempt the recovery install and regret it now.
So I was able to get the full install of PB00IMG.zip to work flawlessly. I don't believe it was actually necessary to install a special rom at this point but when i started i figured they were step by step instructions. Then i got the usb driver installed and my pc recognized my phone as the htc dream which i figure is normal. After that I attempted to install the ivan 1.0 rom and got exactly this:
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/command
--Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted
I figure the only relevant part is the signature failure. I realize that all the zips are signed and therefore cannot be opened. I understand that they have to be renamed to "update.zip". No im not naming it "update.zip.zip". I am renaming it with windows xp. I saw somewhere that a guy had the same issue and renamed it with astro and it worked out fine so Im hoping this is the issue but that seem silly. Ive verified the md5 sums of the rom images as well.
Ive also tried the Eris_Official that is on the sticky and plane jane 1.0.
Ive seen some debate on whether or not the 2.1 ota eris's can be rooted but it seems quite apparent its the same as any other eris. my hboot is 1.46 and not 1.49 so all is well there.
I also applied wipe data/factory reset
At this point i am at a loss as to what to do because it seems as though ive tried everything. I will reinstall PB00IMG.zip (hopefully) but im not sure what that rom actually does, i have no idea at all. From what i saw upon booting it seems like a simple stock 2.1 rom that is rooted. I'd prefer not to use that but as long as i can install the overclock kernel then i dont mind too much. I prefer the ivan rom. I prefer to switch between roms at will like the experienced rooters on here.
i did not wipe cache partition because im not sure what that does and it was never mentioned.
From deductive reasoning, it HAS to be an issue with the signature verification and is probably a simple fix.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully i have mentioned everything that has transpired.
You can't flash a rom without first flashing the recovery img, go back to step 4 and flash amon ra's recovery image.
i realized that and was in the process when you posted. thanks tho. I guess i got impatient and figured recovery meant like a back up if i screwed up. thats what happens when ya dont follow directions! i have like 3 roms saved and im dl'ing the ivan and will give it a shot. everything else is completed tho. just waiting on teh download. i think i lost a good amount of contacts tho because i didnt back them up. i have no clue how to get them back beyond trying to sync with google. does our google account save all contacts automatically?

it does if you have syncing enabled, when you log in with your email on the new rom, it will restore your contacts back from google. also the first time you open your market, if you hit menu and go to downloads, it remembers what you had previously downloaded.
ivans is nice as an like stock rom, but i think it is out dated, there was a newer one jcase's plain jane rom, or basically anything on the front page. tho i perfer cyanogen elb, or zenexp. eh try a few different ones
its weird because i never turned off sync my google email. the only sync options i had were google, facebook, and flickr (that applied to me). Most of my contacts are saved but not all.
I also did the market thing immediately but apps like handscent weren't in there which is odd to me.
My big thing about switching between roms is saving all the settings from the previous one. I presume there is a root app for that but i havent even begun to dive into it. I just wanted to overclock this thing because its pissing me off with how slow it is. Also, it being more slim as far as cluttered bs apps helps too.
btw, i got it fully up and running, just installing apps and adding contacts. I would say that contacts over a few months old or less are the only ones missing.

so why would you leave that to chance. . . im sure you noticed all the disclaimers, i understand its at your own risk but still. The recovery has saved my 4$$ several times now. . . trust me especially if your a new it isn't worth the risk. (unless your ballin but no offense to anyone if we were we'd all have incredibles or at least moto droids by now). . and don't use rom manager until its been tested on our device thoroughly . . . which means never use rom manager on an HTC Eris. lolz
You can use something like titanium to backup your apps and settings
Sent from my Eris using Tapatalk
Illogical when did you get your Eris? I ask this because I'm getting a replacement Eris next week an I'm just wondering if I have to prepare my self for the new 2.1 with the 1.49 h boot or if there a possibility that I would get something easier to root.
I picked up a Motorola Bravo to use as a secondary phone on ebay for a steal of a price and thought I would share some of my success / failures / tips I have learned so far.
Successes:
Rooting the phone this was very easy as I just followed other instructions on this forum.
1. Install Drivers from here: http://developer.motorola.com/docstools/USB_Drivers/ then reboot
2. Download and install latest SuperOneClick, unzip, plug in your phone, run the executable. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682 Click the ROOT button and let it do it's thing. I suggest letting it install busybox as well. **NOTE THIS VERSION DID NOT work for Allowing non market APPS***
Allow non market APPS: this was a bit more tricky
1. Install the same motorola drivers from rooting (if you didn't already)
2. Find SuperOneClickv1.5.5 -- Be careful .. some of the files I found triggered virus warnings. I found this link to be reliable: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=I88D36X6 this URL was found on this post: (for the paranoid to refer back to) http://androidforums.com/x10-all-things-root/254097-new-rooting-method-2-1-updated-2-0-2-0-24-9-01-2011-a.html
Failures:
I have not yet been able to completely disable MotoBLUR. I saw two different ways of doing this... one was to edit the build.prop and add the following lines:
ro.mot.deblur=true
ro.mot.setuptype=2
This didn't work, but I also wasn't sure how to clear the phone data/cache ... maybe in the recovery mode? Can anyone confirm this method works on the Motorola Bravo?
The second method I saw was to type eebluroff I am assuming after booting the phone for the first im after a factory data reset. I saw one post saying you should be able to do this by bringing up the keyboard on the screen where you select the system language. I was not able to get the keyboard to come up therefore I couldn't get this method to work.
Anyone else have any luck?
Finally I plan to try carrier unlocking the phone, enabling wifi tethering, and eventually try a ROM or two out.
I'll say this now. I have the bravo. I have T-Mobile service. Not at&t. All I did was call them and asked for the code. Very nice people there. Took me about 10 minutes total including going through menu prompts and holding time.
Sent from my MB520 using XDA App
And Super One Click will unlock non-market apps. Just click root and let it go. Reboot your phone. Click Shell root and let it finish. THEN click the non-market button W/O rebooting!
great tips,
hey junkyardjames87, can you post couple links for roms? thanks

thanks for the tips.
i went through a lot of threads, a lil bit confused, this is my first android phone. im already in love with it.
my bravo is unlocked with code, running 2.2.1 froyo, i think its rooted but im not sure, there is market logo on the home screen, and it has the superuser icon too when i click on the circle to app page.
and it doesnt really lag a lot, its just not as snappy compare to my friend's iphone4. never wanted any apple products, they are way overpriced lol, i think with mod bravo should run really fast doe.
cm7 or miui is androind 2.3 right? is there any glitch after install it? what are the steps if i wanna install one of them
thanks in advance
Hi,first of all i want to say im new to Android
I have a rooted Lg L5 im enjoying the futures of it
i was testing this app ""root app delete"" and deleted some floatware apps and accidently also deleted the Google play store
not just the updates but like the app itself and now when I try to download the APK of the Google play store it keeps crashing as soon I open the play store. I tried factory resetting my phone thinking I would get the original play store back.but that did not solve the problem I get an icon where the play store app would be with the name ""com.google.."" and when i try to click it its says application not installed.
after installing the play store APK I get the first problem as first
so i read somewhere a firmware update would solve the problem some googling late I found out about custom roms and flashing them
I have no idea how to do this
Im very interested in that but it seems its very difficult do do and you could brick your phone if you do it wrong
I don't get it, are you on a custom ROM right now? Because as far as I know (and I do not know much) you can only flash gapps on a custom ROM. Now my ADVICE to you is to install CM 10 (it's amazing anyway) and then download and flash gapps, which can be found here http://goo.im/gapps (second from top for CM 10). If you need any help doing any of that, just reply here and I will be happy to help.
Hey im not on a custom rom im new to android and I don't know much about customs roms but read about them
if you say it will solve my problem im going to try the CM 10 out .As a beginner with android some help would be great
Try this google.apk (install) https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B2Yt4LYuF0UuTEwtV2ZMQ0JDX3c/edit?usp=sharing
the link did not work for the play store APK already tried the ones on adroidpolice as well but without no luck

First, try the APK that the guy above me posted, if that doesn't work, keep reading.
Refer to this guide http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9__laYmXsA, it's newbie friendly BUT instead of downloading and using the L7 version he provided, use the L5 version which can be found here http://get.cm/?device=e610
And if you don't know how to get to recovery mode, you need to download the ''ROM manager'' APK from anywhere (since you don't have the play store), open it, then select ''reboot to recovery'' as shown in the video
Then after you get Cyanogenmod working, use the same method that was shown in the video with gapps, the link can be found in my first reply to this thread.
thank you will try it out in the noon or tomorrow
will post if it worked out well then
is there anything else i need to know before doing this?
like backing up my data or something important in case I mess up ?
it looks easy do to tho
The risk is minimal, but do a system backup with the rom manager app anyway, I think it's the first option, you'll find your way it's pretty easy
and that's pretty much it, do what's exactly on the video, then do the same with gapps, and you should have the play store back. If Google Search kept crashing afterwards, just go to the play store and update it.
If you do not want Cyanogenmod after you get the play store back, then reply here or message me and I'll help you go back to the stock ROM/firmware.
Hey!
I unlocked my bootloader and installed CM 10 and I must say it looks and feel so much better
I came across this guide how to get the google apps back if you wanted to.
25. If you want to install the google apps download this file: (the link cant post any links) and put in on your L5
26. You have to shutdown your L5 and boot into the recovery (Press and hold the Volume down key + Power key, after 2 seconds when the lights go on you have to press 2 seconds on the home button)
27. Go to install zip from sdcard
28. Select choose zip from sdcard and press the power button
29. Select gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip and press the power button
30. Select Yes – Install gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
31. Wait a few seconds
32. Go Back and reboot
33. Now your L5 boots Cyanogenmod 10 with the google apps
only problem is the Link is not working where you can download the file anyone have the zip file ?
would be appreciated
There was no need to google a way, I already told you it is installed just like Cyanogenmod , anyway this is the link for gapps http://goo.im/gapps, click on the second option from the top (CM 10) and the download should automatically start after 10 seconds. It should work, if it doesn't, then the problem is with your internet connection/browser, because there is nothing wrong with the link.
Hey thanks did not understand 100% how you instal gaps
so I just install them using the same method I did the Cyanongenmod right ?
i think that should be no problem
1 more thing I came across some problems with CM 10
showthread.php?t=2284791
the biggest problem is not seeing my external SD
Im kinda considering getting the original Stock ROM back
could you tell me how to get my custom stock rom back?
im using CM 10 for a few hours and its not I don't like it but it having too much problems with it
my last post for today its getting late im going to sleep
will see how things work out tomorrow
Bump
Here is a detailed, newbie-friendly guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1060121
Use this KDZ file http://www.multiupload.nl/9CTXNHIYIJ I got it from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1790342
thank you I fixed the external storge problem with CM 10 its places as SD card 01 and placed on a other place
further then that Im keeping CM 10 on my phone I like it more then the stock rom
1 noob question:
IF I ever change my mind and want my stock rom back and follow the guide will I have android 2.2.2 on my android or the ICS version(the guide says you end up with 2.2.2) that came with it?
and do an system update to get it back to ICS?
I want to thank you for helping me so far thank you very much
thats all
It depends on the KDZ file you flash, the guide only shows you how to flash a KDZ file I THINK the download link I posted was for the stock(check the thread I got it from), but you will have to look around on XDA and find a trusted thread with the KDZ file you want. I would give you a link but I am currently on an L7
Also, ALWAYS update CM, they tend to fix bugs every 3-4 days in their updates, which is one of the many reasons why it is the best firmware imo.
And no problem, always happy to help
Alright, so following some prodding, searching, and questioning, I flashed MIUI V6 to my BLU Vivo Air alongside TWRP.
I will update this post with a detailed, step-by-step guide including my own personal mirrors for your convenience and those of you without 4PDA accounts, which is the Russian equivalent of XDA.
Upon booting, I noticed apps force closing without being launched. Namely Hangouts and Newsstand. I'm sure reinstalling them will resolve the issue rather quickly.
Stay tuned for updates.
Update 1:
TWRP had difficulty mounting data and cache for me, and was unable to format them. This led to applications force closing, window mishaps, and accounts glitching out. I just flashed Carliv recovery, and flashed MIUI with it. Flashing gapps at the moment, and will update you on my progress.
Update 2:
Currently attempting to format data (success), cache (success), and dalvik (success).
Update 3:
Rebooting into MIUI V6, checking if I've entered a bootloop.
5 seconds - Boot animation reached, "MIUI Pro."
165 seconds - Still booting.
180 seconds - Setup screen reached, MIUI V6 flashed successfully.
Update 4:
Google apps flashed successfully, no redraws or force closes this time. Had an issue with the keyboard not registering as being selected, Google voice typing appeared as the default. Pull down notification shader and "choose input method" to select MIUI Smart Keyboard. Signed into Google successfully. Will run preliminary tests on video playback, camera, and multitasking.
Guide:
If you mess up your phone, it is on you, and I am not to be held liable for your actions. This is your responsibility. A lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine. With that out of the way, if you encounter troubles, I am more than happy to help you.
Step 1:
Root your phone using one of the links provided. Click HERE for method 1, or HERE for method 2. I personally used method 1 because it was the first I saw. They both get the job done.
Step 2:
Install THIS application (Settings -> Security -> Unknown Sources), and install a recovery. I installed Carliv recovery, and had no problems with it. You can also install TWRP, however, it had issues mounting data and cache. This left it unable to factory reset when I flashed MIUI, which subsequently led to problems. I do not recommend flashing TWRP - You have been warned. Carliv recovery says it can't "mount" cache, although when formatting it does so without a problem. I believe Carliv is supposed to be touch-based, although the touches weren't responding for me. The controls are as follows: Volume +/- for navigating, Power for selecting, and the Back key for, you guessed it, going back.
Step 3:
Install MIUI V6, located HERE, and then install Google Apps, located HERE. After installing, factory reset the device from recovery and reboot into the system. I posted my timestamps at the top of the post, so you can get an idea of how long your flash/boot process should take.
Step 4:
Basic setup. Be ready to fix your keyboard if you had the same issue I did, which isn't even necessarily a problem. Choose WLAN network and sign into your accounts, then you're good to go.
To root the ROM, I recommend finding "iRoot" for your computer. Then boot to recovery and install the SuperSU zip, as it's better than the root app which comes with the iRoot method.
Enjoy your ROM, and be sure to thank our Ruski comrades over at 4PDA!
Special thanks to @DvDwx. (research), @itsJohnuno (answers), and @Milly7 (testing).
All download links are being hosted by me, and I recommend creating mirrors of your own as safety precautions in the event that the files are removed or become unavailable.
Have a phenomenal day or night, possibly even both. If you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them.

I didn't create the resources in the ROM, I just made a guide to flashing ROMs using a specific ROM as an example. I would feel bad posting it in the developer section because I don't wish to be given credit for the ROM. I didn't make it.

Could you please describe how to flash the carliv recovery. I downloaded the app in step 2 but I can't even seem to install the twrp recovery because phone reboots into stock recovery and I don't even see an option for the carliv one.

I do have root with Kingroot. So I just need to keep trying until it successfully flashes?
Edit: The app mlp RIO recovery installer constantly freezes on me not allowing me to flash any of the recoveries.

You can also try iRoot. Install SuperSU and try using it as the root granter for the recoveries.

The app itself hadn't worked for me, I tried it earlier. Have you tested another app? It may be the stock app. I haven't messed with it much, not a huge navigator myself. [emoji14]

The senor doesn't work at all using this rom & google maps wont work properly without it. Also the time on the lock screen and the home screen show different times about an hour apart Other than that everything else works fine.

Yeah. I've also noticed that downloading updates is botched, because it downloads an update for a different phone model. If you try to install it the installation will fail, but it won't hurt your phone.
All in all it's a pretty solid ROM for me.

I'll post some tomorrow. Re-read the past 5-6 posts and you'll see the bugs. I think you'll like it. MIUI is certainly different (settings default apps) and such, but it's a formidable ROM and performs relatively well.

I'm sure he knows about it...and the guy is activity working on the ROM...except the latest update seems to just boot loop from what I've read, rather just wait and see.

Our Buddy @SSJGohon found the kernel source code and already shared on some topic(i Already re-shared that on Cyanogen Mod to Mediatek SoC's Development thread... but anyone there say nothing about it... and already shared on 4PDA to maybe the MiUi developer can Bring something to All...). i already downloaded and already start my research about what can be maked with that and for sure have a possibility to we have a custom Kernel and maybe Custom ROM like PURE AOSP, AOSPA... but Cyanogen Mod is more difficult because we don't have a updated Repo Source from MediaTek to work like Driver Blobs to GPU, Bluetooth, Wifi Drivers... etc
My real problem is i don't have all skills to make a custom kernel to Mediatek SoC because a lot of things change from Qualcomm to Mediatek.. but if anyone here want to try development that just search the topics with @SSJGohon comments replays :highfive:

I've already installed the ROM, it runs smoothly! You were right, I really like it! I had an issue trying to format /data, it took like 15 minutes, and did a hard reset (pressed power button for a few seconds) and tried to format again and it worked. Im a little bit worry cause I've had 2 radom reboots so far.. Any idea of what has happened to me?
