Verizon 6800 keeps freezing... - Mogul, XV6800 General

So ive had this bad boy for about, a month, not the original its actually the second refurbushed ive gotten because my original phone no longer had vib function scroll wheel no longer worked
first replacement:
USB port broke
second replacement:
keeps freezing out, by that i mean ill be typing a txt, half way itll stop typing and just not work...
ill be running 1 app wether it be internet or sms , and itll freeze.
at first i figured hmm might be the 3rd party app i used to restore contacts (bitpim) the refurbished phone has 6.1 WM, my original phone was pre 6.1 so i figured f it ill just hard reset the phone once more and manual re input numbers as people call
nope, even without activating the bitpim my phone still keeps freezin. and its gotten worst
if the phone freezes and i soft reset itll do either of the following
freeze on the first image
freeze during the Verizon intro
freeve during the WM 6.1 page
Freeze right after it finishes loading
not even turn on at all
i just dont know what to do
so far ive done the following
hard reset 2 within a week - seoncd time without 3rd party app and still it does it
soft reset hundreds of times now...
any help would be appreciated, please

ask verizon for a new phone that one has problems if a hard reset doesnt fix them.

also,
i decided to try again and get one more replacement...
if i have an old version of Pim back up and i wanna updated it, will the old files transfer over to the new software and restore once i do a hard reset...
i wish i had outlook on my laptop and this would make it so much easier with active sync

**Very important, no text or calls!

so maybe like an hour ago, my phone decided to stop working. i've restarted twice and deleted texts. my text messages just sit in the out going box. one friend got the message 8 times, but my phone said it hadn't even sent yet. i also only sent it once. so i'm worried as to how many times my other friend got a message that i've sent about 5 times.
i tried calling 2 people and it wont connect. is it my phone or it t-mobile being weird? i really need my phone as i have a date tonight, so if i could get some help fast that would be wonderful. i do not want to do a hard reset and lose everything, but if that is what needs to be done i guess i can do it.
Unfortunately, when a phone starts acting up, if soft reseting doesn't work, a hard reset is usually the only answer. Unless it's phone hardware issues...
You can try to uninstall tweaks and programs and see if it's one of them causing the problem... have you changed your ROM radio by any chance?
it fixed itself after about 2 hours

Phone is messed up

it takes like a year to get to clock settings to set an alarm. text messages i can only see one line but if i slide the keyboard shut the line will be visible and i can reopen it and write another line. what is going on? i've had the phone since late september, is it just time for a hard reset or what?
I would try a hard reset with those problems.
okay. can anyone tell me what precautions i need to take before a hard reset? will i need to write all my numbers down or will i just be able to sync them back on? will my myfavs stay? will the phone work and everything or will i need to take it to tmobile?
if your numbers are stored on the sim card, then you won't lose them.
if they are stored to main memory, you should connect your phone to a PC via activesync and back them up into outlook.
Alternatively, you can use a program called PIMBackup to save them. Run a search for it on this site.
Assuming your running the stock tmobile rom, you won't lose your myfaves.
Everything should work fine, and even better than it does now after you hard reset.

1/3 of a second.
hard reset is pretty much like soft resetting your phone, except for when it comes up, you have to do the initial setup you did when you turned on your phone for the first time. Takes a few minutes.
thanks, works like a charm now! do we know when wm 6.1 will be released and how to obtain it and if it will be free? i know we can get hacked versions or whatever now, but i mean fully legit ways. i really want threaded sms.
Well... yea, the process of setting up the phone after you hard reset might take a few minutes. lol
EDIT: The chances of us getting an official WM6.1 are zero to none.

still issues after 5 weeks

I got the T-Mobile USA HD2 on release day. There are things I love about it, but I have issues everyday, still. This is my 1st Windows phone, so I haven't cooked ROM's and I don't know what HSPL (sp?) even is...
I don't want to tweak. I want it to work. Am I being closed minded?
Twice a day, everyday, I use Soft Reset because my data connection for email, IM, and browsing goes down. That usually solves it. But at least twice a day, while in the middle of something, I have to do this.
Once a day I have to push the reset button by the battery because the phone froze. No matter how long I wait, it will not unfreeze until I hit the reset button.
I have CleanRAM installed, and I do it manually, often, as well as have it scheduled to clean every hour.
Dutty's is installed with the "X" set to totally close programs.
What do I do to fix this stuff? I heard I should do a HARD Factory Reset, then re-install all of my add-ons that I wanna keep.
How do I save those exe/cab files for easy installation after the reset?
Your best bet is calling T-mobile to send a replacement or wait for an official update. Which is on its way or like every other person will say flash it..I'm having tons of problems as well. I'm looking at selling it or wait for an update i'll prob decide when i'm done with finals..
CleanRAM is known to cause problems. Try deleting it and see if the problem persists.
Honestly. take it back to T-Mo... and have em give you a replacement phone.
I have had mine for 3 weeks and not a lick of trouble out of it (except my own stupid mistakes).
if you are having that much trouble with it, something is wrong. and the guys at T-Mo store *should* help you. If not go to the next store.

question about hard reset and camera

hd2 has been the greatest for me so far i love it
but recently the camera has been giving me a problem
it says failed to initialize and stuff so i got rid of most of my games and unused apps to make sure its not the memory issue (including opera 10)
and tried soft reset as well but still wont work
has anyone had the same problem and treated it somehow?
cuz the last option i thought of is to hard reset, but im afraid i will lose my txt messages cuz i have lotta stuff that i occasionally look back to in there for various reasons
if i dont lose txts through hard reset or if there is anyway to back up the messages, then i dont mind hard resetting for this time
if anyone hard reseted their device before, did you lose the messages?

Yes, a hard-reset will wipe the phone completely to the state it was when you first took it out of the box. You can backup contacts and text messages via several different methods, the easiest would probably be to just use the built-in MyPhone app, it saves all your stuff to a server in the cloud, where you can view it online, and restore it to your phone after the hard-reset. And, it's free.
As for the error you're getting with the camera, I honestly don't know if there's any fixes available other than a hard-reset, but other members may know of one.

Strange N4 Issues

I've had the phone for a few months, only used it for 2 weeks then put it back in the box with plans to resell it. Dad needed a new phone for his job so i decided to give it to him and every day for the past week ive gotten at least one phone call from him with problems. He is extremely new to smart phones but I never had a single issue with this phone prior to giving it to him. For some reason he will receive text messages or voice mail and sees the notification icons up on the notification bar but when he goes to pull the bar down it does nothing. The only way to resolve this issue is to restart the phone then all of a sudden the pull-down starts to function as it should. The phone is completely stock out the box i didn't feel the need to touch anything or have to root it for any reason.
He had to go to AT&T to get a sim card for it and the people there basically wanted to run him out of the store and not even touch the phone because they do not sell it so not a single person wanted to even help him out even though he just dropped more money into their pockets by upgrading his plan to a smart phone plan. before i gave him the phone all i did was a factory reset to wipe out any of my data on the phone so it was clean and like new for him.
Im at a loss because the whole time i used the phone i had no issues and since the day he got it he has had nothing but problems. I chalked this up to user error but its not because when he gave it to me to see if i could figure out why things were acting weird the only thing i could think to do was restart the phone. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this may be happening and/or how to go about fixing it and not making him regret ever having to get a smart phone much less this N4?
New paragraph!
What messaging apps are you using? You could always download the toolkit and flash the stock factory image again.
I would try another factory reset just to make sure things didn't go haywire during the reset you already did. I have had a bad reset with a phone before.

yeah im gonna have to get with my dad and fool with the phone more. Its hard to troubleshoot something when he lives 45mins away and calls me with problems while im at work.
ONCE AGAIN the whole phone is stock so that would lead me to believe that the stock messaging app is being used. I will talk him through doing a reset again and see how that works out for him. From what he told me the only app hes even installed outside of everything that comes on the phone was Map Quest, which i told him he shouldn't need because Google Maps is already loaded on. So first im going to have him uninstall that from the phone as well as from his downloaded apps list in the play store and see if that changes anything.
