Right, i make no promises that i can definitely help you as its seems somethings work on one device and not on another. BUT i have IGO set up on my device, working full screen, tts working, everything seems to be working for me, works portrait and landscape (you need to open the keypad BEFORE you start the program)
So.....assuming you'd like to try my fixes...PM me so i can 'help' you.

So that's when you create a Q/A Thread, not a private message thread...
Or you could just post your sys.txt, that's generally where igo8 installs are won and lost...
Mine works fine other than landscape appears to be using the wrong resolution directory, haven't bothered to manually fix my sys.txt (just swapped the card in from another device)

Exactly. I'm interested in EXACTLY TWO THINGS: the exact version you're running, and the contents of your sys.txt file.

Lol. Just reread this, and I think I mighta used up my entire "exactly" quota for the day.
Well I was just about to post that I had this working, but I just found out everytime I open a text input screen it inserts one of the accented A's and keeps doing so over and over... As soon as I work that out I'll post my info.
Ok well this sorta works, you can't use the hardware keyboard apparently, I'll see what I can come up with on that, it does work fine using the IGO built in SIP keyboards as far as I can tell. This setup defaults to always operating in landscape (which frankly is the only way that makes sense to use it to me). I believe if you remove class="landscape" you can pick your orientation in the program, but changing orientation was kinda buggy, so I just stuck with landscape.

This happens to me as well. Plus I cannot use keypad to input address. it gives error sounds. Seems keypad not compatible with iGo.
BWheezy, tell me if you use Igo8 ver 8.3.4.102680 I dont't think it has installer, you just run it from your sd card, right? Where is located the sys.txt? Is it the one from your SD card, right?

Yes, I have an IGO8 directory on the card and the sys.txt etc is in that directory. You can install it if you rename the .exe to application.dat and use the 2577 folder IIRC, but it's kinda pointless on a phone so I just used the .exe and put the sys.txt in the same folder with it and just create a shortcut into the program list.
is the 8.3.4 version the problem? i use version 8.3.2.97313 it's fullscreen, i can use landscape if i open keyboard before igo and writing with keyboard works ok with no weird symbols or anything

same problem here
Hey guys!
I've got a lot of problems with iGO8.3.4 102680. Successfully solved the "out of memory" issues but this thing is just unstable. It doesn't happen too often but it's a HUGE problem when it hangs when I'm on my way and sometimes it hangs so bad that I actually have to take out the battery. Some funny things happen other times - for example yesterday I was going to some town, and it was possible to choose the town but not the street (it went straight to choose the destination map after choosing the town). Reset wouldn't help, but later on when I got to this town it was possible again. What the hell?
My question is: are u ppl able to get this thing running properly & reliable for days, weeks and months. If yes, I'll kep trying coz I like it. If not please be honest - I need satnav for work and can't waste time for crap that lets u down when u need it the most. Thanks in advance.

You have to have the Igo basemap in your maps as well as Countries. This is what is causing the clicking. You can find it if you search in the right places. Make sure it is either 8.0 or 8.3 depending which version you are using..

Cool, will try to download basemap asap. Would i put this in the maps folder?
Also, would i need a basemap for each map?

Just place it in the same place as your UK map. There is only one Basemap, it covers all of western Europe..

That's why he should include the setting in the sys.txt that I suggested.

Look, the Basemap is an integral part of the functionality of iGO, it links the ferries etc. Changing the sys. txt will do nothing..

Correct - the sys.txt change will stop the annoying DING that is played before every instruction (Ding - turn right into XXXX, ding - at the roundabout take the 3rd exit, ding, ding bl***y ding!!).
Correct - the basmap.fbl is an integral part of iGO8 and must be put into the map folder within content, but i don't know if that is causing the clicking - probably.

S.
I had the same problem, iGO8 was 'clicking' like I continously touched the screen.
After deleting the save folder which contains system.ini the problem was solved.
Only thing is that you need to set your preferences again.
So I did that to, as I came upon the Power Management I wanted it to be Backlight always on.
Then the 'clicking' came back?!?!?
After setting it back to Use device settings the clicking was gone?!?!
Now I have iGO8 v8.3.2.93112 installed and with v8.3.2.97313 prior to dis installation it also 'clicks'.
Right away I will try v8.3.2.97313 again but with my save folder and system.ini and only change Power management.
With v.8.3.2.8 and lower i didn't had this problem.
I'll keep ya all informed.
[edit]:
V8.3.2.97313 works also without clicking after modifying the system.ini from the save folder.
[power]
powermgm_state="2"
Works now, when i set it to "0" iGO8 'clicks' again.
Sincerely,
Tom.

Help Anyone
Full UK Postcodes
Hi,
The 7 digit postcode search is dependant on the UK map you are using. You need to be using the one with PPC at the end (UnitedKingdom7PPC.fbl) approx size 95MB.
Also, try putting a space in between the postcode (you may already have the right map, but not putting the space in - this happened to me!!).
Your sys.txt does not need modifying to achieve this.

I am using a non ppc map on my Omnia2 and full postcode still works.
When you start typing the postcode in the "City" column the phone hides all the digits after the first number of postcode but if you click on the number tab at the bottom it resumes the postcode search and as already mentioned the space before the last 3 digits of postcode is required.
Hope this helps

gx.dll is used under pna.
You should use GDI on HTC hardware... unless they release some real GLESS code.
Oh, so...
it seems they added the GLESS option without writing the code to use it?
Any rumors if they're actually working on it?
btw thank you!

Hello,
I've got a litte problem with every version of iGO8 on my Touch Pro 2.
The backlight is never on the maximum level.
I always use my phone with maximum backlight but when iGO8 run the backlight is only at 50% even if I set the slider in the options menu to the maximum. It's like iGO8 can't use the maximum backlight of the phone.
Anyone can help me?
Thanks a lot!
My experience is that backlight cannot be done by iGO8. I don't use this setting in the program, but am using Phone weaver to do this for me (volume, backlight, power - all changed when on AC power and no ActiveSync (=in car holder))
Use iGoLuncher to run the app. it solves the problem.

I'm sorry but I don't unsderstand what you mean by "Use iGoLuncher"
I made a new device in the data.zip; copied the file 'HTC Touch Pro T7272.ini' in config/devices and named it HTC Touch Pro 2.ini.
Now changed the line of maximum backlight to this:
backlight_max = 15
so the complete file is this:
Code:
info_names="HTC Touch Pro 2"
;Copied from HTC Touch Pro T7272
[gps]
port=4
baud=57600
[device]
SDCard_dsk_num=7
[rawdisplay]
highres=0
autoconfig=1
driver="gx"
screen_x=800
screen_y=480
[power]
backlight_manage_values=1
backlight_max = 15
backlight_min = 0
backlight_reverse = 0
backlight_key_bright_BA1 ="Brightness"
backlight_key_bright_AC1 ="ACBrightness"
backlight_key_timeout_BA = "BatteryTimeout"
backlight_key_timeout_AC = "ACTimeout"
backlight_key_ontap_BA = "BacklightOnTap"
backlight_key_ontap_AC = "ACBacklightOnTap"
backlight_key_on_BA = "OnOff"
backlight_key_on_AC = "ExtOnOff"
backlight_methods = 1 , 25
backlight_events = 1, 5, 7
backlight_slow_api=1
Now insert into sys.txt:
Code:
[device]
type="HTC Touch Pro 2"
Hope this helps!

There are many ways to do this, but I just use Resco Explorer because it's the easiest for me. When you click and hold on an item, you get a menu that allows you to select Send To - Start Menu as Shortcut.

there is a specific thread that solves this
it is a multi step process so i wont answer here
Use my script
you must install mortscript and run this
*********************
Switch (question ( "Arrancar Igo8 na Horizontal","Arranque Igo8","YesNo"))
Case(YES)
Orient = "landscape"
Case(NO)
Orient = "portrait"
EndSwitch
IniWrite("\Storage Card\iGO8\save\system.ini", "rawdisplay","class", Orient )
Run ("\Storage Card\iGO8\HD2-iGO8-Multitouch-" & Orient & ".exe")
RunWait ("\Storage Card\iGO8\iGO8.exe")
Sleep 500
Kill ("\Storage Card\iGO8\HD2-iGO8-Multitouch-" & Orient & ".exe")

keko001 if you prefer a simple solution to use iGO8 in landscape just add these lines in \iGO8\save\system.ini:

plain and simple!

Hi keko001
You only need to use a text editor to copy and paste from this thread into the ini file.
If you go to any of the igo resources on the web they tell you how to do lots of things with this process.
I recommend that you try this as there are lots of good skins.
The source i used was right here on xda in this thread

keko001 if you prefer a simple solution to use iGO8 in landscape just add these lines in \iGO8\save\system.ini:
[rawdisplay]
class="landscape"
plain and simple!
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Works great, thanks.
I now use:
[rawdisplay]
screen_x=800
screen_y=480
class="landscape"
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
