Help Anyone
Full UK Postcodes
Hi,
The 7 digit postcode search is dependant on the UK map you are using. You need to be using the one with PPC at the end (UnitedKingdom7PPC.fbl) approx size 95MB.
Also, try putting a space in between the postcode (you may already have the right map, but not putting the space in - this happened to me!!).
Your sys.txt does not need modifying to achieve this.

I am using a non ppc map on my Omnia2 and full postcode still works.
When you start typing the postcode in the "City" column the phone hides all the digits after the first number of postcode but if you click on the number tab at the bottom it resumes the postcode search and as already mentioned the space before the last 3 digits of postcode is required.
Hope this helps

Hi All
This might be a stupid question but I really need your help.
I went to Bangladesh last week and using my MDA and TomTom I recorded the GPS reading of certain places of interest for myself. (This part of Bangladesh is mainly rural and maps dont exist!!!)
I was hoping that I could input this readings into GoogleMap and see where they are. But I am having some problems in doing this which I think is due to the format rather.
i.e. I recorded the following GPS position in TomTom;
Easting 91.73199, Northing 24.78500
So how do I input this into GoogleMaps to veiw where it is.
The question I am really asking is what format does TomTom display GPS readings in and what format does GoogleMaps displays GPS reading.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Just enter it like
N 24.78500 E 91.73199
into the searchbox in Google Earth.

Here you go m8 .... just put those numbers has you wrotem on here into the boxes http://www.satsig.net/maps/sat-view-of-lat-long.htm
Thanks Markus
I'm such a plum......I was putting it in the other way round......Easting first then Northing....
I inserted my HTC 7500 CD in my PC and I only see 4 files in it. Only one of them is related to Tomtom. It's named "Installer_X7500_ttn_6_030_8320_HTCITA_20070227.exe" and is 5.4MB big.
WHERE ARE THE MAPS?!?
Have you tried looking on the floor to see if they fell out?
First, that is the installer......install it! Second, go to Tom Tom's website and activate it! Third, download your 1 free map........yup, only 1 and it is a city map only! Fourth, go buy a copy of T/T and get the rest of the maps!
If you already have a licensed copy, they will activate it over the phone for you.
Hope this helps..........Later

I am trying to download the free map, but TomTom keeps defaulting to Fresno, CA. How can I switch the default to a city in New Jersey? If the map is free, I would like to have my home town. I tried tampering with the URL address, but it keeps going back to Fresno, CA

If your unit is a new one, then you should be able to d/l any single map. If it is a used or "open box" item, then maybe it has already been used up by someone in California. You can only use it once.

Its true. If I had a screen shot program, I would post a screen shot for you here. It's only giving me the option of a free map of Freson, CA. I have tried to find a registry entry to force TomTom to look for another state, but no luck. I purchased my HTC Advantage from here: http://www.networkingrus.com/

I too bought mine from Ron @ networkingrus and had no problems at all! This is the third unit that I have purchased from them.
Have you tried a hard reset and then reloading tt from the cd again? I don't know what else you could try beyond that, although you might try calling tt on the phone and see if they can help. Maybe they can tell you how to do it for a differant map.
Hope this helps..........
You must have a device that was already opened. I would call the vendor or try TomTom as the other member recommended. i just went out and purchased the entire package and uninstalled the free version. I guess you get what you pay for.
send me an email and i can get you the info you need to get it working. ( US and Canda Maps Only ). [email protected]

Looby,
whats basemap? only file that i have in my maps location is unitedkingdom.fbl.
iGo basemap...
You have to have the Igo basemap in your maps as well as Countries. This is what is causing the clicking. You can find it if you search in the right places. Make sure it is either 8.0 or 8.3 depending which version you are using..

Also, would i need a basemap for each map?

iGO basemap...
Just place it in the same place as your UK map. There is only one Basemap, it covers all of western Europe..
Disable key sounds from iGo.
Settings->Sound->Key Sounds
Please use the search functionality.....
Edit your sys.txt file and add:
[sound]
queue_length=200
ding=0
The line in bold is the one that stops the ticking sound...
iGO Clicking..

exactly.
That's why he should include the setting in the sys.txt that I suggested.
IGO clicking..
Look, the Basemap is an integral part of the functionality of iGO, it links the ferries etc. Changing the sys. txt will do nothing..

Correct - the sys.txt change will stop the annoying DING that is played before every instruction (Ding - turn right into XXXX, ding - at the roundabout take the 3rd exit, ding, ding bl***y ding!!).
Correct - the basmap.fbl is an integral part of iGO8 and must be put into the map folder within content, but i don't know if that is causing the clicking - probably.

I downloaded a basemap and put it in the maps folder but it still didnt fix the clicking issue... maybe i downloaded the wrong basemap..
Looby, can you please PM me a link to a site that will allow me to download a basemap for version 8.3?
Try adding in your sys.txt the following:
[sound]
mute_os_key=1
Untick Hardware buttons in Settings/Sound&Notifications.It has no use on Blackstone anyway
here is solution for your problem : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2957695#post2957695
S.
I had the same problem, iGO8 was 'clicking' like I continously touched the screen.
After deleting the save folder which contains system.ini the problem was solved.
Only thing is that you need to set your preferences again.
So I did that to, as I came upon the Power Management I wanted it to be Backlight always on.
Then the 'clicking' came back?!?!?
After setting it back to Use device settings the clicking was gone?!?!
Now I have iGO8 v8.3.2.93112 installed and with v8.3.2.97313 prior to dis installation it also 'clicks'.
Right away I will try v8.3.2.97313 again but with my save folder and system.ini and only change Power management.
With v.8.3.2.8 and lower i didn't had this problem.
I'll keep ya all informed.
[edit]:
V8.3.2.97313 works also without clicking after modifying the system.ini from the save folder.
[power]
powermgm_state="2"
Works now, when i set it to "0" iGO8 'clicks' again.
Sincerely,
Tom.
Disable Screen Taps/Hardware buttons sounds from sounds and notifications, weird huh ?
I have taken GPS photos from my Touch HD using a variety of ROMS. First using Dutty's 2.2, then using Miri 6.5 v17 and finally using EnergyROM 3.0.
In each case when I upload my photo to www.gpsvisualizer.com the positioning of photos is not accurate at all. Photos were taken in West London near Heathrow and when positioned on the map they appear near Gravesend outside London about 50 miles East of the actual location.
I have also noticed the same when asking TomTom 7.9 to navigate to a photo I have taken using Touch HD. It gived me directions to gravesend.
When I log to a text file using Visual GPSce, and upload that text file, the location is accurate. Also the GPS works fine when used in Google Maps or TomTom.
Anybody else with similar porblem? Can someone do a test for me by taking a JPG (it goes to the 'My POI' folder under My Documents on the Storage Card by default) and uploading to www.gpsvisualizer.com?
Working fine here. I'm using the official HTC ROM from April. Enabled GPS photo by editing the registry.
Uploaded two photos I took a week ago and they appear on the right place, within few meters of the correct possition.
"Enabled GPS photo by editing the registry."
Got a link/more info on this? I'm a GPS Noob.
Very simple but you have to edit the registry.
go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\P10
and set the value of "Enable" to 1

5 meters is one thing, civilian GPS is intentionally not as accurate as it could be. 50 miles is another thing.
Any chance of trying with the official HTC ROM?. I have not tried cooked ROMs for the blackstone, after 1 year of bad experiences with cooked Kaiser ROMs.
I think the cooked ROMs are reversing East and West. After looking the coordinates on Google Maps, I get:
Heathrow airport: 51.481062, -0.426064
Gravesend, Kent: 51.43325, 0.422287
So the points are interpreted as East of Greenwich instead of West.
Thanks mate I'll give that a go.

Good observation vcespon. Even I was thinking of East/West of Greenwich issue. But did not get think of checking the coordinates. Can more people with Cooked ROMS carry out the test of post results. I do not think that my GPS receiver is faulty as I never have a problem with door-to-door navigation. I am pretty sure that the GPS Photo mode is buggy in HTC Camera. I am using HTC Camera Version 6.16 (Build 33888).

What version of HTC Camera are you using?
hi all,
would anyone be kind enough to explain to me how I can use a gps photo with tomtom please?
Yeah I have version 7.9 something as well and don't have a clue either?
1. make a gps photo
2. its saved under my documents - my poi
3. copy it to GEO-PHOTOS (if you dont have this directory create it in the root of your storage card or device, depends on where your tomtom is installed)
4. start tomtom - navigate to - picture
start tomtom - navigate to - adress - contact

But unfortunately I'm not getting any luck. I'm using TT 7.9. I've created the GEO-PHOTOS in the root of my card as suggested. copied my geo tagged picture there. But when I go to TomTom: "start tomtom - navigate to - picture", I just don't have the "picture" option at all. No result from browsing to "contacts" either.... mmm... bizarre. Thanks anyway.

You have to delete MapSettings.cfg from map directory. Then you can choose another country.
With MapSettings.cfg you will delete home adress and previous destinations, but it is only one way, how to change country...
Actually, you can obtain the same result by reseting the software to its initial state from the menu... But then you have to go through all the configuration process, which is annoying.
There hase to be another way ; on the touchscreen version, all you have to do is touch the flag...
I saw in another post that someone did it using MyMobiler. Not very useful, since I generally use the GPS function as a stand-alone, but I would still be interested in knowing how he did that.
quick question regarding tt7 maps...
hi there,
sorry for asking something not on the topic...
I understand you use tt7 on your snap, I also use tt7 but my device does not recognise the map (version 720). I know for sure tt7 and the map are compatible because I got them on my polaris and hd2.
Would you tell me what map version you use for your tt7 on the snap, and if possible would post link to download, please ???

I use TomTom 7.915 (9196), with European Map v835.2421
You map has to be registered for you device's unique ID.
