GPS Photo/Footprint

After owning my Jade for 4 months I've just found the GPS Photo feature!
I tried using it and after the GPS receiver switched on, I took a couple of photos. I can't see any difference to the regular pics. I see that a new folder called My POI has been created within My Documents on the SD card and the pictures are there but they are just JPEG files, without any GPS information that I can see. If I open the photo and click Properties it just gives the usual info Size, Date etc.
Am I missing something and how different is this to the Footprint app now available elsewhere on the forum?

It´s a tweak that enable the camera to take geotaged photos.
There are many posts on the Forum about it but in the Jade SubForum you can find it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=498238 (post 2).
Actualy in my jade only work's if I launch a GPS program before starting the camera.

i didnt realise my jade can do this....
how come its not in the manual or something?

Because the phone doesn't do it as standard.

This registry setting work ok on my Jade!
If I select this camera mode gps stars quickly (10 sec) and can take photos that is saved at My documents/My POI
This photos are like normal photos but have geotag inside file. Now at PC (I think have installed PhotoME program too) I can right-click mouse on file photo and have an option to open google maps at point where photo was taken!

You have to create the string with a registry editor. Please tell me if it work's with you.

Well, try to soft reset and then go to camera, press the touchscreen, choose the camera icon in the middle of the buttom. then a 6 buttons menu comes up, the 3rd one in the 2nd row should me "more" or something like that. and then you you will reach the gps picture option.
sorry, i cant provide you screenshots, as i am waiting for my new memory card (which is in the post already, but as tomorrow its a national holiday.... argh!)

It's working, but first I need to start myu GPS program. Without this step the camera stops waiting for GPS signal.
I don't know if waiting more time it will work, but with GPS program everything is more quick.
Withe PhotoMe, you can go directly to the photo spot in Google Maps.

myu GPS? Is the QuickGPS-Data up2date? This might help...

Well...for my experience you could wait...and wait...and wait because nothing happens, the camera stops in the starting GPS screen. My theory is that with some ROM languages it doesn't work, but I would like to know why.

Maybe you have another GPS-prog installed? If so, check if the GPS-settings in this program are on "use windows config" or "manual". Would recommend "use windows config", so the settings dont get messed up...

Navipanel

I have found the tip to access Navipanel without the dock. A couple of questions:
It seems that Navipanel can only be used in landscape mode - is this right because I tend to have my phone docked in portrait mode?
How do I exit Navipanel once I have finished with it?

How did you open Navipanel, i don't seem to find it in the Windows folder.

By following the instructions in the hints and tips - see the sticky at the top of the forum.

You must use Resco Explorer (AND switch off in setting of resco "Hide hidden files", Hide files in Rom") !

I just wanted to post that RescoExplorer doesn't show hidden files by default. I found it with total commander and then thought it might be an option like that in Resco.

1. Couldn't swear to it, but I think I remember seeing pictures or video of the panel in both landscape and portrait orientations
2. Press the Home key - the panel doesn't appear to stay resident in memory - haven't checked this with Memmaid or anything yet, but it certainly doesn't appear in Task Manager (Dutty's version)
A far bigger pain is that all of the links seem hard coded to a Co-Pilot install on the device, as opposed to one on the SD Card - iyt would be nice to be able to customise it!

Hi Gustopher - Thanks. It seems Navipanel starts in landscape and then if it feels like it rotates to portrait. This only seems to happen occassionally which is very frustrating because the most common case it that it is stuck in landscape mode. Does anyone know of a way of starting Navipanel in portrait mode?
To be honest all I want to achieve is to switch the phone to a mode where when I answer calls they automatically go to speaker phone and ideally for screen lock to be switched off. This must be a common use case for people who have their phone docked in a car. Anyone know of how this can be achieved using something other than Navipanel?

Well, the Navipanel is supposed to be used in landscape mode in conjunction with an official dock in the first place.

On my phone navipanel is switching automatically when i rotate phone.
There is just a 6-7 sec. delay when switching landscape to portrait and 1-2 sec in oposite direction.

Just on another note - navipanel won't start on my HD2 no matter what i try - does anyone else have this problem? Also, what does it do!

I had the same problem so I wrote a little app for it.
Just copy it to your CoPilot folder and put the path to your Navi Software in the config.ini.
With igo8 I had the problem that it couldn't find its database when you start it this way so I had to create a link to igo8.exe and call this link instead.

[APP]Application for screen rotation simulating the keyboard out

Dear developers,
I have a big issue with Rhodium, apparently without solution (as I see in the forum many others have it): if I use any G-Sensor application to rotate the screen to landscape based on the internal G-Sensor, some windows/applications still show in portrait. One example is the Dialer, that cannot be "kept" into landscape just by keeping the phone in lanscape position.
I've searched the registry and found an interesting key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Keypad\IsSlideOut - value is 1 if the phisical keyboard is open and this triggers the entire Windows and Manila to rotate "for good" in landscape - no more annoying bugs and unattended rotations back to portrait.
If i rotate the phone to landscape and set the key value to 1 in registry WITHOUT sliding out the keyboard, the phone STAYS in landscape, even if it is rotated back to portrait, no matter what application is opened (in fact the phone thinks the keyboard is out and disables the G-sensor).
So, my request is for an app (exe to be assigned to long press send key) that triggers first a rotation to landscape and then changes the key in registry to 1, if the phone is in portrait; if the phone is in landscape, the app should modify the key to 0 and rotate the screen in portrait.
Is it possible to do it? How difficult it would be?

A friend has gave me the simplest possible solution: Mort Script.
For the ones that need it, here it is:

Thanks for info, but I have done it since the beginning. It's working very well, but there are some bugs, like the dialer program: if in landscape I press the Send key, I have a 1 sec delay before the screen autorotates to portrait and than the dialer shows in portrait.
The only solution suitable for my needs seems so far the MortScript.

I'm glad I could help. If you use autolock (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505032) you can use the attached script (original one updated) to disable the autolock while in landscape. I use autolock for suspend, incall and outcall when connected - if you use other features you have to modify the keys accordingly.

I have a question: I have a Tilt 2 and I'm looking to just beable to rotate any screen as I please...how in the world do I play/edit with Mort Script?
I'm very new to this phone and HTC in general.
Also...when I install a .CAB file. I've downloaded a few and stored them on my Memory (Scan Disc) to help conserve memory on my phone. Once it's saved on my memory disc I then loaded the program and POOF...it's done.
Is that the right way to install a .CAB file? I'm kind of lost and I hope I didn't mess anything up.

The "Scripts" are text files (can be edited with any text editor on PC or phone) saved with .mscr extension. Install the CAB from the link above, put the script on device and double click on it in a file explorer.

It's recommended to keep the .CABs on SD card, in case you hard reset the device they are handy to be reinstalled. I personaly prefer to install the programs in main memory instead of SD card.

Thanks...I was alittle concerned about where I was saving the .CAB files. I appreciate you getting back to me.
I guess I was doing it right.
I believe there is a .CAB file somewhere on this website to make phone be able to switch between landscape and port...regardless of what menu or screen your looking at.
As of right now...I'm simply looking for a way to remove some of the programs that came installed on this phone. When the phone is on IDLE...it's still using about 70% of it's memory. It's killing me and I need to remove a ton of random programs (However, I do not want to flash my rom)...

Hi,
Memory usage is affected by running programs not neccessary by installed programs - if you don't use an application and that application doesn't have any process resident in memory, it doesn't affect the amount of free RAM.

My Tilt2 used to run +75%. From what I read, some programs take up memory even after being closed out. I did some more searching and installed the Dynamic Resource Proxy and No Push Internet cabs from here. Now I run in the 50-60% range.

After realizing this .cab would do it's job automatically (I thought I had to set the programs that wanted to rotate), I was wondering if there's anyway to auto-rotate the Titanium U/I with this?

HTC Album crah

Hi There.
I have a problem with HTC Album, everytime I press the ALBUM command to change the album witch I want to see, the system starts to list foldres and then the white screen with ERROR REPORT appears, and I can't change the album.
Somebody here have a issue like this? (Sorry everyone my english sucks)
I search for a CAB or a registry correction to HTC Album, but I didn't find it.

Have you tried hard reset?

I tried hard reset twice.
The last one I deleted all folders with photos from my sd card before perform Hard reset, and then I tried to use HTC album. The issue continues.

Solution
The HTC Album finally works!
The solution? I removed IGO8 folder from my SD card.
But, I couldn't understand why a GPS software crash the HTC album.
I like IGO very much, but it's really incompatible with HD2.

iGO has nothing to do with it.

If IGO8 hasn't influence with it, why after I removed IGO folder from SD card de htc album returned to work?
You just said a simple phrase but didn't explain a thing. Try to be a little bit useful.

I have the same behavior since I've installed Igo 8.3.4 . When I open Htc Album it starts to look for every image file I have in my storage card and when it gets to the Igo8 folder, the album just closes whitout any warning. I'm using Dutty Leo HolyGrail R0 rom, but I don't think that it's a rom problem, since it started right after I installed Igo 8.3.4
Maybe if there's a way to order Htc album not to look into Igo8 folder this problem would be solved... Is there any way to do such thing?
Edit: As a matter of fact I've checked and the problem is not with HTC Album, it is with WM album... So if there's any way to make the windows album skip or just not read the Igo8 folder, I assume it would solve my problem.

HTC Album is horrible. It will auto-search all possible images and videos in the device. Use other image/video manager tools.

hum... all right but suppose I do like the album the way it is, so still I need to find a way to tell windows album searcher to ignore Igo8 folder... Any help with that?

Go into registry and make the htc album ignore the iGO folder and the problem is solved.
64. Disable Unwanted Folders From Showing in HTC Album
Don't you find it annoying that HTC Album Shows lots of images you don't need to see when you select Albums like GPS poi icons? Now you can tell HTC Album to ignore certain folders.
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/HTC/HTCAlbum/Ignored and add a NEW STRING VALUE
Eg if there is iGO8 in the root of the Storage Card you would create a NEW STRING VALUE with Value name iGO8 and Value Data \Storage Card\iGO8
This will include all subfolders inside the iGO8 folder. Save and reset.

Well, I'm going to try it and I'll tell you here if it works for me, but I have one doubt: How do I insert the inverted slash (\) with the htc keypad? It seems to have only the regular slash (/). Does it make a difference?

On the second page of the symbols is the \.
When you press the symbol button there's a 1/2 on the left. Press it.

It's not the registry that uses these values. Think of the registry as a database - nothing more.
Anyway, I did mean \, not /. It's on page 2 of the numbers and symbols keyboard ("12#", "1/2").

Oh, thank you both for your lightining fast answers!!!! I gess you all realized I'm a noobie here, hehe... And I'm now glad to say that my problem is gone and the album works like it should now!!!

iGO8 it's an excellent application for this phone. You might find it little bit hard to install but once done is great.

Hi there, finally iv'e had some time to engage in installing IGO8 on my Mega. The installation went fine and everything seems ok, except for that I havn't actually tried it outside yet....
I do have one problem though and maybe someone of you helpful chaps can assist me The problem is that there isn't any shortcut in programs to the app so I can put it in the programs tab.
Only way to start it is to go into the installation folder and click the .exe file

All I needed to do is to restart the phone However the program doesn't start as it should... I still need to go in the file manager to manually click the .exe file. I think that the shortcut from the "program tab" is pointing to the wrong file. If that would be the problem do anyone here know how to redirect it to the right place?? :0

Well I switched to tomtom 7 and it worked great and is really easy to use!! I strongly recommend tomtom7!!

Open iGO folder and search for iGO.exe -> menu -> edit -> copy
Open \Windows\StartMenu\Programs -> menu -> edit -> paste shortcut
Delete the old shortcut and rename the new one to iGo.

I have been using both tomtom and ndrive. Both have very detailed maps that never let me down though i find myself using ndrive more because i like the way their poi database is structured. Each poi gives you very detailed information and most even include a reference photo.

Hi, I have already used Sygic Mobile Maps 2009, and I think that its the best navi for this device.

I use Garmin and MapKing.
