Overclocking

Hey all, i currently have Pocket hack master installed and i was wondering what is the best sppeds that everyone uses?

OverClocking works fine but i don't recomend it, it heats up Pocket pc over normal temperatures and makes system unstable and it crashes sometimes. but if you have 400mhz. i don't think you still need to overclock it.

overclocking now available!!

PocketHack Master V4 is now out with Tytn support. Be warned that at it's highest setting of 440mhz i had to HARD reset my device.... Must start at a lower speed next time and work my way up!
I'm still in the middle of restoring!!

have you found a need to overclock the device then...., might works fine for what I use it for

Thanks for pointing this out... I updated the FAQs on the wiki.
It automatically scales the processor voltage onSamsung S3C2440 processors

so does this clock it over 440mhz, because an extra 40mhz doesnt really sound worthy of paying for software, especially when the TyTN is pretty snappy?

So... do you need to stick it in a fridge or anything afterwards?

I think the main idea of using the program is to allow a "super battery saving" mode, by underclocking the device it will use less power....obviously impacting performance-wise but still!

The main reason I wanted PHM was to help render web pages faster. My tytn downloads quicker than the works PC on normal broadband but the pages take longer to 'finalize' the page (i.e.. you can scroll down a page and it's still inserting images). This is a CPU speed issue.
I have finally got to play with PHM and it still needs more work! Just doing a test at tytn's default 400Mhz crashes my phone, never mind higher! I never got much higher than 300Mhz, how strange!!

Hack Master V4 not ready for primetime!
As others have noted, don't waste your time on Hack Master v4. I played with it, only to find it causes crashes, no matter what you do. Also, I found that it caused an incomplete Hard Reset. So, I had to do the manual hard reset twice, to get TYTN working again correctly.
Also, the Wiki should be updated to show there are still problems for anyone wanting to OC the TYTN.

I stupidly tried PHM too, and have just suffered a partial hard reset. Here goes the long and frustrating reinstall...

aren't we allowed to take these people to court? False advertising and damaging my equipment? They must have had enough emails by now and yet the same program is still there advertising the same things, very poor...

We should probably change the title of this thread to say "OVERCLOCKING: DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT..." :idea:

They can get away with it through the fact that they tell you to backup your device before you use the program. Coming from an XDAII where PHM worked perfectly though, I stupidly assumed that the quality of the product would be at least the same or even better after numerous updates.
I'm pretty much set up again now, but I'll certainly be looking at purchasing a backup solution before I put my trust in something like that again.

Don't think about it, even with a backup... While trying to overclock my TyTN smoothly, it's now on the way to service (no more booting at all...)

I find my Jasjam (Hermes) runs very fast and I don't see the point in over clocking it when it runs fast enough normally.

Have XCPU Scaler, in autoscale mode working up to 500mhz, on a cingular 8525 (HERM100), no resets, no problem.

you'll be needing one of those new spangly batteries with extra life to cope with a processor increase like that.

That's awesome .. Has anyone else tried this program out? How's it working for you?

I'm using the XCPUScalar with its CPU load based setting.
Normally I set the speed to only 200MHz while on heavy load it speed-up back to 400MHz and 500NHz on very high load.
On day-to-day use it looks like extending the battery life (working on lower clock rate) whiles much quicker route calculation when using the navigation program.
Currently I faced now problem.

Anyone tried this program? I am using OmapClockPlus now but I like the idea of using different speeds depending on the load to save battery. Especially the underclocking while idle.
Was thinking of trying Pocket Hack Master but it seemed to freeze up the wizard requiring a hard reset.
This program even lists the Wizard/K-Jam/Qtek 9100 in the list of devices it works with.

I have just tried this program and it works - good find. Cannot try autoscale because it is disabled in trial version. Someone needs to pay $15 and report back

So does this automatically adjust the clock speed depending on the wizards state then? i.e does it slow the clock speed down when it goes idle then speed it up again on resuming?

i was using this for a few hours, but had issues with it soft resetting itself... i think maybe it was the scaling function cause it seemed to do it when only sometimes when switching speeds..

Hi faria - omapscaler does do this but at the moment is too unstable and buggy to use long term. Interesting to see if xcpuscalar is stable or not.

Have you purchased xcpuscalar 2007 then? shame if its is unstable.
mb5049 - yes this is what it does - cpu speed varies on load.
xcpuscalar has a max speed of 260mhz - which is a shame.

True, but it only goes from Default to your own setting. The scaling works so you can have a lower clockspeed, as low as 100 MHz while idle, and only as high as it has to be with heavier load. This ought to save a lot of battery.
But if you want it to clock at eg. 240 MHz all the time and default while idle OmapClockPlus would be your choice. I'm really happy with the program but I'm not so happy with the battery usage and am trying to find a way to extend it.

In the forum at Immiersoft.com there are quite a few K-jam owners reporting unstability. The issue seems to have been brought to their attention so hopefully they will soon release a stable update.

It may not be the software but the processor that is causing the instability. It may not like its speed being varied so often. Omapscalar is unstable too - maybe this is why.

you mean this is payware? ha ha ha... i had no idea...
here is the story... someone sent me the retail zip, had an exe, a readme, an install, and a cab.. so i wasnt near my computer, downloaded to my phone, used the pokcet zip and installed the cab... nowhere did it say anything about registration... nor does it now...

I read on another forum that people who are experiencing lockups to try changing the power setting to "turbo" or "max performance."
It should stop the lockups, I suppose.
Reply back to see if that solves the issue. If it does, then I'm gonna try it out.

Sent my wizard into a endless reset loop. Brought me back to my Treo650 days. I'm going back to omap which has been working fine so far.

Dont be an asshole and post software. The guy wrote the program and if he wants to charge he can - if you want ot use it THEN PAY!!!!! I bought it - it didnt work (resets) he was happy to refund my money.
I have reported your dumb ass to the board admins

the wizard does not have power settings like that, that is for the dell axim's, its in the readme file

I have been using it for about a week now and it's totally stable. I have set my KJAM to autoscale from 195 to 247. Smooth as silk.

Glad to see it works for you - unfortunately I was unable to get it to be stable even at 234. It did seem to scale correctly when it was workign though. I hope the author can sort out the issues.

Then, it seems I won't review this version either - I've sent the developer a mail to ask for a reviewable version if it's already bug-free. I'll wait, it seems

Overclock HTC

here is a program i got from the htc webiste to overclock a 8125. i tried it on my t-mobile wing and it works fine. it overclocks up to 300+mhz but 240mhz is most stable.
there is a pretty significant increase in response time after running the program.. simply install on your device>>run the program>>>select speed>>>then hit action>>set clock and presto instant speed

HAs anyone else done this?
Has anyone used this on their P4350 yet? I don't want to wreck my brand new Herald so I wanna know if anyone else has used this to overclock a P4350

Use the BatteryStatus Plugin can be found in the Prophet forum and was also dicussed here in the Herald forum. It has many more functions plus a much advanced overclocking tool

Hi, I'm rather new to all this. I need a little help. I've installed the soft from idondysh to overclock my herald. It actually works ok. It however doesn't stay overclocked. Any suggestions? Do I need to leave the software active for the herald to remain overclocked?

Exactly, OMAPclock has to run constantly if you want your device to stay overclocked.

yes... you get addicted to the speed...
it will shorten the lifespan of the processor... but really.. r u planning on using it another 6-10 yrs? didn't think so.

I am very new to this phone... I've been reading around here the last couple days trying to figure this thing out!
Once installing this program, or any other, how can I make sure it's always running?

Huge drain in batterylife is the biggest side effect you will face.

Need Help with Wing!

Hi. I just purchased a Wing for my wife and she loves it. Only complaint is that the volume is kinda low and she misses some calls because of this.
I already tried using the audiopara.csv files and adding an incallvolume to the registry but nothing.
I use a Tilt with the Kaiser Touch rom and the volume's really high. I mean like higher than normal. Is there a way to do the same tweak on a Wing?
Also, are there any recent roms for the Wing? I tried several and I'm using the numb3rs rom right now. It's stable but the memory indicator is showing first 60% then 65%....then, suddenly jumps to 69%.
Any reason for this? I mean, I do have BatteryStatus running with the processor overclocked to 247 Mhz. Does that affect the memory? I tried running cleanRAM and Pocket Mechanic but it still stays like that! The only thing that lowers it back down is a soft reset but that gets annoying after a while.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
