HTC Pure Answering Delay - Touch Diamond2, Pure General

After upgrading my Rom to Dutty's I noticed that when I tried to answer calls while the phone is in standby that it would take 5-10 seconds to connect. Thinking it was the Rom I installed the latest official 6.5 WWE and still had the problem. Turned off HSDPA and am no longer having any issues. I don't know if it's AT&T, My local area or what but just wanted to point this out if anyone else is having the same problem.

At least I'm not the only one who was having this problem. What's the downside of turning of HSDPA, if any?

I'm running stock pure with no delay, but I know what you mean.
On my old diamond on ATT, every single rom I tried had a long delay.

Yep, I have experienced this too, and just mentioned it in the other Pure thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=571462.
I thought it was a software issue with the dialer, and I've tested it quite a bit just by calling myself repeatedly. This didn't happen on the stock AT&T ROM, so I'm hoping somebody will release a nice version of an AT&T stock dump without the bloatware.

I also turned off the HSDPA and noticed that it even increased my download speed. I think my SIM is enabled for 3G but not HSDPA (perhaps) although I'm no expert in these things. The big thing I did notice was the extra battery life I got without HSDPA....
As for the ringer delay, mine is a stock rom and I get only one rings worth of delay on the sound and no delay on the wake-up. This is with the standard Topaz dialer but with a 1.3mb MP3 custom ringtone.
There is a tweak in Diamond Tweaks and HD Tweaks which can be set to ring "without delay" or "with delay". You could try that to reduce your delay.

I think you're talking about a different kind of delay mitsi. The delay we are talking about is when a call comes in we hit the talk button to connect to the call. When we hit that button (either hardware or with the answer slider) the call does not connect immediately. It takes several seconds. In other words, you can't just answer a call immediately. You have to wait for it to connect. It's kind of a strange bug and doesn't happen to me all the time. It's maybe only 30 percent of the time.

I too seem to be having this problem. Does turning off the HSDPA fix the issue, or is it deeper than that?

I thought it went away after switching off HSDPA but of the 5 calls I received today it happened twice. Up until today I was fine since I started this thread. Anyone have any suggestions.

The problem is due to topaz phone canvas. Pure is more compatible with Leo Phone canvas than topaz canvas. Which makes sense as Pure and Leo both do not have video call feature.
Try Dutty's ROM with leo phone canvas. You won't have this problem.
P.S. If you can find a cab to replace topaz canvas.. that should work as well. No need to specifically shift to Dutty's ROM. Dutty's ROM is just an example.

What specific canvas did you load?
Most of these ATT people are having a hard time, and it mimic the prior gen on ATT.
Until you can say there's a fix, there is NO fix. Thanks for the suggestions, I dumped my Pure.
I could never get more than 700k on the stock rom on various test sites, and even youtube would start, stop, lag, start, stop lag; maybe 10 sec intervals.
I called ATT about it and they had no fix or benchmarks (like a speedtest) that I could run.
Great battery life though, if you can stand slow speeds, **sigh**

S2U2 seems to have been the root of my problem, at least for now. After removing that, I havent had the issue again tonight.

How many times did I mention 3rd party sliders on ATT phones?

I used different ROMS... including official HTC ROMs. That's how I conclude that Topaz canvas is the problem. Although our phone is technically Topaz, there are few differences. viz. Front camera.
For all the issues you listed, AT&T is to blame. They are either ignorant or just plain arrogant.
1) At&t removed front camera... which is stupid... further, this resulted in incompatibility with euro Topaz phone canvas. Hence the delay.
Well, there is a Fix. Use Leo canvas... any version. (I prefer to just use ROMs with Leo canvas). If we are flashing ROMs that is not compatible with our phone.. we are to blame.
2) At&t has a really bad DNS server. This server is responsible for directing your browser to proper servers. Try servers from OpenDNS.com
3) At&t further sends all our data through a proxy. This proxy is known to cause problems with youtube. There is cab floating around to disabling it.
4) Just last week, I did a browsing speed comparison with iPhone. I found the speed to be same on flash free websites. However, with flash heavy websites, our phone downloads flash files and thus browser feels slow. If you want speed, disable flash.
The slow speeds are due to At&t nothing to do with Pure.
Honestly, and humbly, Pure is a very good device. is it perfect.. not at all...however, we do want it to do things that it was not designed to do.

my pure has a camera, yours doesn't?
Mine's going back tomorrow. If it can't work well "never flashed", then what good is it?

Oh not a front camera, sorry, I see what you are saying.
Disable proxy is an option built into the pure. I've tried both ways.
DNS shouldn't be an issue for the end user.
I've compared to iphone in the same area(s), and mine is not working well, but it's probably a testament to the good battery life.
ATT/Pure are one in the same. You can't have one without the other. Overall the experience was WORSE than my unlocked new diamond that I had prior to this. MUCH WORSE. And ATT has no metrics to validate the lag and slow download speeds that I experienced.
My impression is that after 30 days, it's not a good device for data at all. Call quality was better than the diamond for ATT, but that's about all.

Dont know, dont care, because that isnt the issue after all.
I flashed multiple roms last night, and had this issue repeatedly.
I agree with the previous though, it does seem to be a phone canvas issue. Anyone know where to find a Leo canvas?

For the record, I really like my Pure. Speed is great where I live.
@cucamelsmd15: As for where to find a Leo phone canvas ROM, try Dutty's Holy Grail R1 LP version. The LP is the Leo phone canvas version. I don't know of any other ROMs that come with Leo phone canvas.
@arkavat: What is annoying to me is that the Pure is supposed to offer video call features, although not face-to-face I guess becaus there is no front camera. But video call software is there in the stock ROM as a subscription option if you want to do video calls. It's annoying that there is an incompatiblity issue with the standard Topaz canvas. I am hoping that somebody will release a "video call canvas fix for AT&T Pure" cab.

Ive been using that one today, and so far, its been rock solid.

I LOVE my Pure. Throw a new rom on there. AT&T crap sucks.
Hell at least throw the Official WM6.5 rom up... sure it includes a Topaz dialer but better overall. I haven't tested the Leo Phonecanvas yet... I have it... just haven't cooked it in yet.
I'll play with it and perheps my next release will have a Leo dialer.

Pleyer911,
When do you plan to release that new version?
Thanks

HTC Pure Rom upgrades - your results

I'd be interested to see how many of us upgraded rom on new Pure.
Which rom you used, performance improvements, battery life, problems etc.
Did you back up stock rom?
Andy
I'll usually run the stock rom for a few weeks then start playing. I'll be watching this thread!
What I have noticed is that on a lot of the popular roms, you'll see things like "landscape/rotate will not work", or you will see nary an ATT person in there, but lots of euro TD2 owners, etc.
I have the WWE AT&T Pure and had it stock for about 4 days and decided to flash to !Amen!'s R5 Ultimate ROM which had the new TouchFlo 3d 2.5 Leo interface. As much as I liked the new interface it was sluggish and I had a few bugs that kept me from liking it a lot. I then looked into "TESS's 3.6 WinMo 6.5 TouchFlo 2.1" ROM and switched to it and haven't looked back. It's coupled with the new radio and all it's signal goodness. I have had no issues with this rom and have thoroughly tested everything from data, tethering, bluetooth file transfer and stereo profiling, wi-fi strength and connection, gps, overall interface response time, multitasking, and video playback to the kicker -the battery life (which I am reporting is excellent, a full day of heavy use and it's at a little over half battery). All worked and I am proud to bring you the good news that if you are looking for a solid ROM to flash to then head to TESS's release thread for info. on his ROM and it's glory.
flashed my pure to energy ROM within 30 minutes of getting it, so while i cant comment on battery life, speed and stability is much better.

ROMs do not affect the radio so AT&T 3G will still work. Flashing a Radio would probably not change it either since the bands are in the chip and changeable by software. But don't take that last part for fact.
I have a Pure...running the latest stock htc Euro WWE 6.1 ROM until the official htc 6.5 ROM is out. Good Lord, when will it be here? I tried the official 6.5 ROM on my Touch Pro 2 and WOW!
FWIW, I noticed that I know have an H instead of 3G in the signal indicator. The AT&T ROM is so full of crap I just couldn't stand it. I am not big on cooked ROMs because there always seems to be something that bothers me...
Had my Pure for over a week now, played with stock ROM for only about half a day before replacing it with a cooked one. Tried multiple ones during my past week and here's my findings:
- Dutty's R4 (and R5) [WM6.5/Manila2.5]: The first one flashed to replace AT&T stock ROM, I really liked it for almost all the aspects. However, push mail sometimes does not push (which happened to Dutty's ROMs on my Diamond as well before) so I have to give it up.
- EnergyROM Leo [WM6.5/Manila2.5]: Pretty fast and stable, but the interface is not my cup of tea, and battery drains pretty fast on mine, so this one didn't stay too long.
- Tom Topaz Leo R2 [WM6.5/Manila2.5]: Very nice ROM, stable and fast, close to stock ROM in terms of interface (not too many customizations). Quite similar to Duttys but without the push mail issue. Battery life seems to be fair. This is the one I'm staying with.
- TESS 3.6 [WM6.5/Manila2.1]: A lot of people says it's good but didn't appeal to me. Forgot what was the exact issues but there were a few, so it didn't stay too long on my Pure.
- Nataly 3.0 [WM6.1/Manila2.1]: A very nice ROM, super fast and clean, just that it's a 6.1, I do prefer 6.5, so I switched back to Tom's ROM. But after a days use of this ROM, I liked its simplicity and performance. I'll probably try it again once the 6.5 version is released. Battery life is said to be super on this one but I didn't have enough time to test out. From my one day's experience it seems to be pretty good.

Which HardSPL did you use to flash the ROMS?
on this one Topaz-HardSPL_V5_00R5_183HSPL my AV shows a virus and deletes it
I used the stock ROM for about a day, but like most everyone else, I don't like all the extra junk that AT&T puts in there, so I flashed right away. I first used the EnergyROM Leo, liked it well and may go back to it. However, after reading the benchmark spreadsheet, I decided to give Dutty's R5 a try, and have been happy with it. I like the eye candy look of the EnergyROM better, and generally, I can't tell much difference in speed between the two, though Dutty's benchmarks much faster.
Strangely, I found that the stock AT&T ROM was the most error-prone. I got a lot of Windows error messages (shell32.exe, I think) with it. I've managed to lock up both EnergyROM and Dutty's here and there.
I can't say much about battery time at all.

There are no viruses at all. Just turn off you AV and DL it. Do you have Norton? For some reason Norton sees it as a virus a lot. AVG did not for me. But there is no virus. Or I'm sure there would be hundreds of angry TD2 owners and you woulda heard about it.

Tried just about every rom available: energyrom, Showdowline's, Dutty's, and TESS rom. Out of all of them the TESS rom drains my battery the least and is still the most quick in response and rarely locks up or lags. The others have manila 2.5 and I just don't think the pure can handle it unless htc or att comes out with their own version for the pure/td2.
Ahh I can't wait until I get my Pure and start crankin out builds.

AT&T Pure results
I've had pretty good success with several of the most popular ROMs on the AT&T Pure, including TESS, Dutty, X-Treme2.V5, and some of the less popular ROMs too.
What I've found, though, is that in many of these ROMs there is a dialer glitch and a close-button glitch that probably is unique to the Pure.
The dialer glitch: When a voice call comes in, it seems that a third of the time, you cannot use the slider to actually answer the call. And when the call does answer, there is major lag between sliding and answering. I have no idea what causes this, but I've been looking for a ROM that doesn't have this glitch and haven't found one yet.
The close window glitch: This might or might not be unique to the Pure, but in a lot of ROMs, the close-window X in the upper right corner has a graphical glitch. When pressed, the highlight graphic actually appears to the left of the button, rather than beneath it. This is not a functional issue; it's an aesthetic one. But it crops up a lot in the ROMs that I've tested.
I also installed a reduced AT&T Pure ROM listed in another thread, but that was a work in progress and had broken aliases scattered around. I actually like the blue AT&T Pure interface, and I'm hoping that somebody will take that stock ROM and do a nice speed customization with it to cut out the bloatware and make it more responsive.

If it's anything like the prior gen diamond for ATT, you will want to find a rom WITHOUT a slide to answer add on.
They were 100% not compatible with the phone, and did exactly what you described.... well if it even connected the call after waiting a while.
Most of those rom cookers are aware of the problem with the prior gen, maybe if you are having a problem, mention it AND mention you are on ATT. Looks like history is repeating itself.

Intersting. But isn't the slider the default for all dialers in Manila/Sense? This means I would have to go to Titanium to avoid this bug I guess -- unless there's some dialer mod that can patch a Manila/Sense slider. All the Manila/Sense ROMs I've tried have had this slide dialer.
Oh, and by the way, it's not just the slide itself that seems to be causing the problem. Actually pressing the physical send/talk button has the same effect when answering a call. That is, about a third of the time, it won't actually answer a call at all, or does connect but only after lagging for four or five seconds. Really annoying stuff.
Ths send/talk button issue might be related to the dialer glitch you're talking about, but I haven't done any testing with a dialer that doesn't use the slide-to-answer. Haven't seen a ROM that doesn't have the slider in the dialer.
Yup in my prior gen case, it was also the physical buttons. Sounds exactly the same!
The ONLY one that would work was a stock ATT diamond rom that someone took the bloatware out of, and left the stock answer buttons.
Is the slider modified in any way in each of these roms?
Do they use another slider in place of the manila slider?
Usually they give a list of the oem rom and the added or modified applications.
Sometimes, and actually a lot of times, they base their work on a euro rom version and call it WWE, that may not have the right drivers or whatnot for the ATT specific hardware.
It really does sound like the same issue all over again. But I'd ask in each of the rom threads and hopefully you'll get a quick answer!
Just finished some testing on Dutty's new Holy Grail ROM, and the results are good. Called my phone 20 times, and answered with the slider 10 times and send/talk physical button 10 times. All slides/presses connected the call immediately with no lag whatsoever. So unless my sampling is too low to be conclusive (perhaps the glitch will kick in less than 10 percent of the time) I think this is the ROM I will use for now.
Unfortunately, the graphics glitch with the close button (the highlight occurs to the left of the X rather than beneath it) is in this build. Plus, the built-in version of Bing doesn't work/launch. But these are small sacrifices to pay for a great all-around ROM that actually answers calls when you press the button or move the slider. Woot!

The new ROM

I am about to download and install the new .48 ROM, but what excatly did they fix?
Are people sending and recieving all sms'es and calls now?
Are the buggy volume control fixed?
What about the big waiting time when launching the messenger app with people who have a long sms-history?
As far as i am aware absolutely no issues whatsoever have been "fixed".
This "new" ROM is simply the latest version being shipped in worldwide devices.
The weekly calendar issue seems to be fixed.

I don't know what has been fixed and I can't comment on the problems you listed since I've never experienced them but I can tell you what works better for me:
1) the keyboard is much more accurate. I was reasonably happy with the keyboard on the last ROM but this one is much easier to use.
2) the proximity sensor now works every time I make or receive a call. This was a bit hit or miss for me with the last ROM and would fail more often than it worked.
3) Battery life seems much better. Again, I was pretty happy with this on the last ROM but it just seems to last a lot longer now. I had network issues today (nothing to do with the phone, it must have been a problem with 3 in London today because my 3G dongle was down as well) and was expecting my battery to die relatively quickly. However, despite this and the fact that I was playing with the phone more today (because of the new ROM) my battery is holding about 20% more than I would expect it to hold at this point in the day. I haven't bothered with the patch to turn off the data connection either so my phone should be doing more now.
I can't comment on much more. I experienced the new bug with the inbox and SenseUI but that was dealt with by locking the phone. I also had some trouble connecting to my Exchange server but that was dealt with with a couple of soft resets. Everything is generally going quite well.

I have installed the new 1.48 rom today.
and I don't think they fixed anything. I still got a red blob on my pictures. And I still wait up to 45 seconds for replying sms. When the sms-history is long.!!!
I've installed it today as well (dutch version). A pity that you 've to reinstall all apps. No prob for me, as I'm still try to explore the phone.
Anyway connecting, installing etc everything was flawless, even the link with Exchange.
hmm,.. well,.. no issues so far
I've flashed the .48 over my belgian HD2 yesterday using the goldcard approach, I've got to say that I've yet to see any real improvement or bugfixes,...
The lockscreen acted up for a while but then mended itself automagicly and has been a good boy since.
Opera seems more responsive but that could very well be just me fooling myself.
Same goes for the keyboard, I caught myself noting 'hey, this seems a bit more sturdy than before'. This can all be attributed to perception, though
It works and the itch to be up to date has been scratched.. all in all I'd recommend it.
where do i get this rom, offical site please
Is this an official ROM?
Where can this be downloaded? How do you flash it?

I installed 1.48 last night and I think its night and day better than then old 1.43 rom.
Screen is less sensitive (which is good) because it makes the keyboard easier to use, less multiple key hits etc.. so you can actually type more accurately. I still get the odd moment where they keyboard appears to spaz out, but I think this is still down to accidentally breathing on the screen or looking at it in a funny way.. man that screen is so sensitive sometimes..
I also found that rotating and typing with both thumbs in landscape mode made for a very compelling typing experience because the keys are slightly larger and further apart which makes hitting multiple keys at the same time even harder to do.
Once you have used the device for a day or so (to build up its dictionary of words that you use alot) its becomes really very quick to rattle off very long texts.
Its still not quite perfect, but its a huge improvement over the previous rom.

At&t HTC Pure Problems answering calls

Hey guys I just had an issue with my new phone. When I go to answer a call, I would say it has about a 50% chance of getting hung up. The phone will ring and when I slide to answer, it just stays on that screen for around 10 seconds. If I pick up early enough, the call will still come through after it waits. Most of the time it just stays silent until it notifies me of missing the call. It does this whether I use the hard key to answer or the slide function. I hve tried several roms and this problem keeps happening. i have tried Dutty's R6, Tess Pride III and IV, Cheetah 2.2, Official HTC ROM, and even the stock At&t rom. It does it regardless of what ring I have selected as well. If i have a short mp3 it does it and stock ringtones and even vibrate and silent.
The interesting thing is that this is my second htc pure. The first one had a badly scratched screen due to the crappy screen protector that att sold me. The first phone also had this same issue. I was wondering if you guys had a solution to this. I don't know if it is a network problem or a phone problem. I have tried using S2U2 because I thought that maybe it was because of the actual slide to answer function but that did not work.
I am currently using the EnergyROM "Phoenix 2" manilla 2.1 WWE 21889 with radio
4.49.25.17
I am really leaning towards it being a problem with the at&t network. I have had problems in the past with them because it did something similar with my old phone.
Any help would be awesome. I appreciate everything you guys do on this forum.

I appreciate everything you guys do on this forum.

works fine on the stock rom i am useing ... dont know what to say .
I am still looking for the solution. I am gonna try my Sim in a couple other phones tonight and see if it is just my number.
I figured out what the problem was. I selected the standard windows mobile phone skin instead of the Leo canvas that everyone loves to cook into the roms. I think that the phone was having a hard time loading this canvas after loading my ringtone and showing the slide to answer screen. I have not had any problems ever since I switched canvases.

T-Mobile Releasing 2nd ROM Update for HD2

I was on the phone with T-Mobile Support (611), regarding my HD2 and the issues that I am still having with this device. The rep. stated that T-Mobile is aware of the issues on the phone and that the 1st ROM update did not resolve them all and caused some new ones.
She stated specifically this new update would resolve the issue of the device hanging after you try to wake up the phone...also, the "unreliable data connection" issue is still prevalent (I still have this problem - and I have tried everything I can think of or read about). She stated that there are other fixes that they are working on to resolve with this new update.
I could not get a solid time frame, but she stated that it should be pretty quick, given that they issued the first one within a short time frame after the HD2 release.
Now, I'm not sure if this means an upgrade from 6.5 to 6.5.3, but I wouldn't count on it. I just hope it is released soon. This device is so nice and so awful at the same time. Constantly I experience little nagging issues that make using this device such a hassle.
Have you tried just flashing it to one of these custom ROMs?
No I have not yet tried the custom ROM yet on the HD2. I like the way the T-Mobile ROM are, I just am getting fed up with the "unreliable data connection" BS. Also, the phone (since the ROM update) has been running slow and I don't think that is acceptable with the 1GHz snapdragon on this device. My only other issue is that the speaker phone stops working because T-Mobile added some stupid software to the device. If you dial 611, the software pops up and tries to solve your problem via webpage and stops the speaker phone from working till you restart the device.
While that is a short list of issues, they are major issues in using the device. But I think i will wait till this 2nd update comes out...if it does not resolve my issues, custom ROM here I come!
I belive flashing NRG will solve your issues It did mine.
Which issue did it solve? The data connection issue?
Data and freezing as well not to mention the phone just flies now. flashing a new radio fixed reception issue
well I will give it a try and see if it resolves my issues as well. I figure we have about a month or so before T-mobile releases the 2nd update. I know I will not be able to last that long with these issues. It is just a pain in the a-- to flash ROMs every day...I'm not into doing it all the time. I would like to find a good stable ROM and run with it. It just takes too much time flashing and reinstalling all those programs and changing the settings to where I like them all (too much work).
Like I said it is a shame, i really like this device on paper, but in the real world is just has some serious issues. I thought i would get a year or two out of this device when i bought it, now I am already looking to swap this puppy out. I'm looking to see what is coming down the pipeline. I refuse to go with WP7 (feels like the step backwards with it limitations as compared to WM6.5 - and i don't want a device that clones the iPhone of 4 years ago)
Anyone other suggestion on custom ROMs?
NRG 21911 is very solid and you don't have to flash everyday it has xda uc and pim backup witch will back up and reinstall all your software I did it yesterday in about 20 min. I refrain from flashing during the week. the the first time it will take about an hour just read all you can on it. 670megs free space on device 13gigs on sd and 300 megs of free RAM
I'm downloading the 23121 Cookie Dinik Glass version right now...I'll let you know how it works on my device. thanks for pointing me in this direction, appreciate it!
tmobile rep told me the same thing after I had a warranty exchange, she said to expect the update soon as there are alot of people experiencing problems with the current software. Although to be honest after running Android on my HD2 I dont think I ever want to use winmo again.
are you getting everything to work with Android? i did not think they have a fully functional Android ROM for the HD2 yet
They're all the same...
My biggest complaint is the bad data connection. Paying too much money for crappy connection. I can't even get connection in my lower level of my house. I think every carrier and cell phones all have their own problems. My two co-workers, one with Droid and the other iPhone have similar problems. Droid keeps freezing 2 warranty phone exchanges so far and iPhone looses connection frequently. iPhone guy wishes his would freeze so he could get a replacement. So it's not just me.
Help me please
So i tried to install android, and on gthe web it said i needed to install hpsl well my phone had it set to 2.10 they stated i needed 2.08 or earlier so i did it but the install still didn't work !!! How can i return my phone back to 2.10 and still get my warranty back
android fo real?

i read on pocetnow that android is being worked on on xda. seen a couple of post too, but there is always some component not really working. is there an official android post where all the kinks are worked out? i would like to switch if thats the case. thanks.
Wow is all I can say about that NRG ROM....it is great! does everything I have been looking for, no data connection issues since last night (I'll report back on this issue as time goes by). It's fast and very stable (so far, but hell I'm impressed), and I did not even use most stable version the 21911.
The UI is great, I love the three pages of app slot, everything is within one or two finger stokes this way. It also gets rid of the apps that I don't want (ie TelNav, etc...) but keeps most of the apps that I do want...I can always install cabs for the programs I want from the official ROM. Plus it has cooked into it all those sweet tweaks and settings. Great work, I'm not even waiting for T-mobile to release the 2nd update any longer.
Thanks gtrplr71 again for suggesting this custom ROM, it's so nice, I don’t even think I will be trying out any other ROMs.
I would not get hopes up of a 6.5.3 upgrade. Could you imagine the Technical support nightmare if they had to troubleshoot 2 different OS versions?
This is one reason I think Android and Linux will really take off in the future.

There's a HD2 Android section in the original HD2 area (euro hd2 section).... but it is a work in progress. There are still a lot of issues and kinks. It will be a while before it works as well as a native android phone. But the progress they've made is unbelievable. It's great having both winmo and android on my phone.

your welcome don't forget to make a backup with pim backup to your sd card and use xda uc once you get things settled. Have fun!
how does the xda uc work? i could not figure that out, when I ran the app it stated that i did not have that file on my storage card...but it appeared there somehow.
Also, the incall record does not seem to work at all. when i lauch it (after I connect or before I connect a call) all I get is a blank lined page (note pad page).
And, is there a list of the added and removed apps somewhere? I could not find it in the ROM thread.
As for the 6.5.3 upgrade from T-Mobile, i don't think it will happen either and right now, after trying the NRG ROM...I don't care. I'm not even going to try the T-mobile 2nd ROM upgrade. Now with Android comes along on the HD2 (fully functional) then i will surely set up a dual boot situation on my HD2. That is like the best of both world.
(xda uc)-you wont notice anything different It will run and monitor the phone for new settings when you decide to flash a new build it will auto run and import settings and apps.

Please do not upgrade to the last version posted in htc web page!!

All, I just repeated my flashing of the last official upgrade posted on Oct 19th 2010 for the HD2 in the HTC web page, Support area. It makes the unit go TERRIBLY SLOW ALL THE TIMES!!, the memory consumption can arrive up to 90% with NO APPLICATION OPEN!!!!!!!! IT IS A DISASTER!! I think that if HTC see a forum here it will pay attention and remove that upgrade from web page. At least for the Chezck region. The phone said it had an amount of memory free when you installed programs, but when you went to see the value in the About area, the numbers were very different. I just moved back to the previous version.
you have hspl installed still, would be my guess.
if not, do a hard reset and start over. perhaps even flash it again.
Sir 90% of the problems on the latest stock Rom 3.14, isn't the fold of Device/Rom
But the user!
Stock Rom 3.14 isn't compatible with HSPL.
Is this a problem of HTC??? No!!!
Because this is a product create by users not support by HTC.
I've been using it for2 wks and I find it extremely stable and very fast. So except for some bugs n issues that I've already reported to HTC hoping for a hotfix soon (lack of slide down menu and inability to use other phone features during a phone call, poor radio reach/higher battery drain being a couple of ones that bother me the most), it's worth giving it a try if you want a speedy and crash free experience for a while.
Btw, in my case, the upgrade was from stock ROM 1.66, and no HSPL/cooked Roms ever installed.
Tethering with Rom 3.14?
Does the new rom permit tethering via Tools/Internet Sharing?

Hi mandel4026,
I wonder why do you doubt the 'Tethering' option in the HTC official ROM upgrade.
The HTC website mentions:
'Tethering:
* Internet Sharing through USB or Bluetooth
* Wi-Fi Router'
as it's specification. I believe that they wouldn't turn-off the feature this ways through a ROM upgrade.
mandel is worried that he thinks since tmobile will charge seperately for tethering now, the new rom upgrade for tmobile will have the function bundled to tmobile applications and not as default in device tools like in roms elsewhere outside the US...i think it may not be the case, mandel

I have updated to 3.4 and on the whole it works great but I also have the issue that in a call there is no slide down menu as in the prvious and none of the functions work - not even bringing up the keypad or putting it on speaker!!
Has anybody found a fix for this or do we need to wait for a hotfix from HTC??

slide down menu in call can be shown/hidden by using bsb tweaks

http://www.htc.com/uk/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=297&act=sd&cat=all
phone screens work perfectly for me, speaker buttons and keypad much easier to access without that slide down panel
just installed it....will see how slow it is

Ho! that's really stable then
Minor issues, who wants to use the phone features or bother about radio or battery efficiency??
I see that the HTC support are still doing good...
PS: do yourself a favor, replace their "romgarbage" and try some on this forum.
I had Artemis 29 for months with nearly no issues. It also solved all HTC rom issue I had!

hi guys, i have the same problem with memory and another strange problem is, i cannot install some of my medical programs. Is there anyway to restore the old HSPL? or any other solution. I tested some of the customized and they were unstable, so i prefer to use the stock rom? so any solution for HSPL restoring?

Ok, I gotta admit I use another phone for calls usually, son HD2 isn't my primary phone for that matter.
I'm still on the fence about cooked Roms, I believe they aren't bug free either and besides, I'm worried about software conflicts (?), so I'm not sure. Not to mention all the hassle if ever needed to revert to stock roms. I guess a bit of 'bricking' phobia too.
