Hi,
I've got a stupid problem.
My Hero need many time to receive Emails from Gmail.
My other Email Account is from Freenet.de
With this account I'ver send Mails to my googlemail.com (gmail.com for German Users).
It took about 5 seconds up to 12 Minutes to become this Mails on my googlemail Account at my HTC Hero.
It isn't so, that they come immediately.
But I mean, that they come instantly before a few weeks.
I did a full wipe of my Hero then, but it's still the same.
I've flashed the ROM new to the Hero, but it's still the same.
What' wrong with it.
How long took it at your Phone? My Gmail App at Firefox receive this Messages immediately.
Sorry, no one out there who could write a Mail to his Gmail account and Post the Time it took?
63 people reads this and nobody can try it. I can't belive that there is no one helpful.
Hi there, my mails on googlemail take about 5 to 10 seconds to arrive at the hero.
I have no idea why it takes so long on your one.....

maybe a stupid reply but did you re-set the 3 days time for your email downloads again? also I would check some settings in yahoo email as well... I dont know if that exists since I am not using yahoo mail, but in other mail programs there is an option to keep emails on the server or delete them after some designated time.

I had to deal with this yesterday, reset my phone to factory defaults. No matter what I did, the Phone Storage Low error message would not go away. My HTC Mail app was telling me it was using over 100 MB in storage. No SMS or Email could be sent/received, no application run and just Force Close, and nothing could be downloaded. Eventually, the phone just kept rebooting when I tried to run programs. So, I found those threads, reset the phone, and all works again.
I can't post links, so you guys can peruse those two forums for what I'm talking about. You guys are the pros at developing, so I thought I'd ask someone at xda.
Same problem. Ended up doing a factory reset and restored everything BUT, for my Exch acct, I purchased the Moxier Mail app. It's superb. Great integration, calendaring, etc. Easy config. All the goodies.
I still use the HTC Mail app, however, for 1 POP3 and 1 IMAP accounts, but have lowered the per-message download size and have set download to just get the past 3 days (at the bottom you can always grab more if needed.) In my business I'm responding immediately to mail, then filing or deleting it, so 3 days works for me.
Ultimately though it seems that there's a monster memory leak (a la DW Horizon magnitude leak) in HTC Mail. Hopefully we'll see a patch, though I must say that a week into Moxier I don't think I'll be switching away from it for Exch. And oh, multiple Exch accts on the Sense UI would be nice at some point, too. Just sayin'
My expereince:
I was up to 30+ MB and getting concerned so I deleted EVERYTHING in HTC mail (including emptying the trash folder). So there is NO data for this app to do anything with except basic setup info. Still had 26 MB in the app. Deleted the mail account. Still have 26 MB. Can't get rid of it.
Stopped using it and have been using K9 (free) for about 10 days. Took a little getting used to, but I like it.
And just ran across this: http://www.zdnet.com/blog/google/is-your-droid-incredible-low-on-disk-space/2163?tag=nl.e539
Just got this message this morning. To my surprise found that same article on ZDNet. I have maybe 5 apps installed..But yes, im using HTC mail.
Guess its a memory leak of some sort. I use this phone for work and probably get 50-100 emails a day. I did however get the message to disappear by going to my TRASH folder in my HTC mail and deleting the 500 or so messages in there.
Had phone more than a month now and have not had this issue. I only use HTC mail for exchange and use K-9 for all my other pop, imap accounts except gmail which I use for that.
I was greatly disappointed in Moxier in that it didn't have some of the basic features found in HTC Mail, messed up their widgets by putting their name in the title of each one, etc... For the price, simply didn't think it was worth the money and I got the impression they had no desire to fix or improve it. they don't even have a decent trial version to really get a handle on what it could possibly do or work arounds for the apparent lack of basic features.
touchdown was a no-go the first day as it has serious display issues on the DI.
However, I've not had any problems with HTC mail yet... get 100-160 messages a day.

Yea, I have had my phone since 1st day of release. Never had a problem until this morning. So weird. Maybe I will try K-9 as my work email is setup POP.
After seeing a couple threads on this I'm wondering if the simple fix is to use a 3-day download setting (or less) in HTC mail.

That is what i used from day one with HTC Mail. So, dont think that theory will work. I actually factory reset the phone last night and am going to try HTC Mail again with all the same settings but not use the widget.
Yeah, ever since I had that first message and had to reset to factory defaults I've left my settings default (except for 100KB messages).
Mail size limit: 100kb
Download Feq: 15 minutes
Download Past mail: 3days
My HTC Mail is still only using around 4MB, and it's been two weeks since that episode.
I've had my phone since Apr 28th and never have had the issue. I only had it set to 10kb, as arrives and 3 days, and I only used it for Exchange mail. All my pop accounts are on K9 and gmail is on gmail.
Over the weekend, I found out about the working version of touchdown for the dinc and started playing with it on Friday. Went ahead and bought it Sunday after beating it up a bit. There are enough features in it that makes it worth the coin.
Glad I didn't run into this issue, but might have over time.

I got the message a month after getting the phone. I had it set to save all emails and it basically bricked it and had to do a hard reset. It was stuck looping between the Verizon boot and the Incredible screen. A week later it did it again and Verizon told me I had too many emails and changed it to only hold 3 days worth. Worked for a couple weeks and the message came back yet again...This time Verizon thought maybe I had a defective phone and sent me a new one. So far a week with ALL emails saved and no issues, but I'm not holding my breath.
3 days worth of emails is kinda pointless for me...
Memory issues
I started seeing memory issues as described here today, first it was affecting DL from Market, late in theday I could not open texts.
I do NOT use HTC mail. But I did notice that my Contacts Storage was over 95 meg big. Probably a lil too big. Probably thumbnail/facebook integration? Anyhow I reformated phone storage, and then cleared data on contacts, now it is down to 2 meg. I re-DL contacts from Verizon sync
Not sure what this means, I love the Incredible, but can't stand bugginess... And Droid 2 comes out today...
Anyone else seen this behavior that was NOT part of the mail program?
So far I haven't seen this. (knock on wood) Then again I don't use HTC Mail either. I like to keep things slimmed down since I had that Moto Q with the shrinking memory. Yeah! The slimmer things got with that the smaller my storage got. Hopefully this will be fixed before I ever see the problem.
I'm having troubles with pop email accounts, I'm not being notified for new emails, they do not show up in my inbox until i manually open the email client - I have my client to auto check every 5 minutes, yet if I don't check for half a day and then login I have emails from all times of the day being loaded into my inbox.
my friend is having the issue, was wondering if anyone else was?
It's with hotmail, yahoo and ever business emails servers.
suggestions?
Thanks in advanced
nobody noticed that there email isn't polling when it should be?
If you are using an app-killer, make sure your email app isnt killed with it, since that would eliminate the option to auto-fetch emails.

Pls check these items.
Have you add to auto kill list? then remove it. along with email app.
com.andorid.provider.download
google.android.apps.uploader
data sync should be on.
try it.
Im sure yore battery life wont last 2 days. and why did you setup pop3? Go for Imap it saves resources and disk space.
Let your computer do POP3 work.
no appkiller of any kind installed
I just noticed now I havn't received emails to my phone in the last 3 days, I had to manualy open the app to fetch it, update is set to 30 min
I use moxier and it updates and polls fine,
email app doesn't.
x10a rooted on o24 software
every other functions works great

On the first day I got the phone, before doing anything (root) to it, I also noticed that it didn't poll. Had it set for 5 minutes, background data on and it did nothing. Never polled once all day.
So rather than waste my time with something (else) from SE that didn't work I just installed K-9 Mail and never looked backed since
i have all my accounts forwarded to my gmail which i believe is push on android phones (someone correct me if im wrong), although this probably doesnt save battery life, i prefer having my email pushed

agree...just let gmail take care of it
I prefer to reply or send emails from my actual email account, I did use k9 for a while and it was working and i do like all the additional advanced features it offers. All I need is basic send/receive from a basic client and the android email app is suppose to work like that.
thanks so far guys

The regular email client is a bit lacking. Your issue isn't common though. Must be just missing something in the setting somewhere...if not you could always do the total reset on the phone i guess if you really had too.
I recently just caved in and made the full switch to Gmail for all of my accounts. Much easier to manage. It IS full push email I believe, plus imap makes things so much easier it's not even comparible.
It's too bad the gmail app on the phone won't let you send from multiple addys, but the web interface is good for sending from a diff addy in a pinch.

Just checked it today, App killer was set for auto kill after a hour. Disabled, now push email works.....
i can't seem to figure out whats up. its been about 20 hours since the HD2 last received an e-Mail. if i check my e-Mail like normal on a computer (or via web browser on the phone), it'll tell me i have a bunch of new e-Mails in the inbox. but on the phone itself, it says that there hasn't been any new e-Mails.
i've tried restarting and a battery pull, but nothing has changed.
i know on a Blackberry you can resend your service books if you have this problem, but it seems WinMo doesn't have that option.
any ideas?...
Do you remember how many hours the phone should take to update an e-mail?
You might have set it for every 24 hours.
i'm set to "Every 5 Minutes".
Have you tried going into the email client and hitting the send/receive button? Also try sending an email and once sent it should bring in all your emails. You update setting might be sent too high. I use mine on manual because i dont want it draining my battery

Are you syncing with an Exchange Server?
naw. not using a microsoft exchange server.
about 30 mins ago though, test e-Mails that i sent finally showed up. but now i'm currently in the process of upgrading the ROM anyways.
i think toreone's tip helped. thanks all!
That same thing happened to me. I have to erase my email info and input it again. Since then no problems
hi guys,
I am having a nasty problem with Gmail's sync. oftentimes it happens that it takes a long time to get the email notifications on my s8, if i force on and off sync emails will come right away, and even then it seems is doing ONE round of syncs fine, however most of the time it does not work, this is from about a month.
i have asked twitter, created a forum on g forum here https://support.google.com/mail/thread/13312168?hl=en and i cannot seem to fix this for once and for all.
i tried to delete storage data for gmail, restarted, deleted google account, to no avail. or when you restore it, works for once then back to scratch.
do i have too many emails in my account? shall i completely delete gmail and put it back? although i might need root i think.
any help appreciated since i need emails and sometimes things are delayed for 2 hours, not great. 2 minutes i can live with, 2 hours not good.
thanks a lot,
Gabrio
i have just done all steps on https://support.google.com/mail/forum/AAAAK7un8RUWVh3ALxBeb0/?hl=en&gpf=#!topic/gmail/WVh3ALxBeb0 and it syncs once then takes again ages and is stuck.
