Multitouch 32A - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Hi,
Is there software that enables the multi touch capabilities? i keep reading the hardware is there just needs a swift boot up the bum to get it going?
Thanks in advance.

Yes... It's called Sense...
The HTC Sense UI comes with multitouch enabled.

Yup, just try one of the various 32A Hero/Sense UI ROMs and they have multitouch.

Looking at the HTC site it looks like the Magic and Hero are nearly identical, save the camera and headphone socket

you will see there are 90mb of less RAM
oh good lord...
I hope this won't affect my HTC Sense experience too much
i was wondering if we get multi touch on our magic's now that hero has it? :/
It is android OS that is not allowing multi touch... AFAIK the Magic also has multi touch...
Apparently the magic and dream will get the new cool interface that hero has to offer and also flash will be available on magic in the not distant future

I actually think the Hero looks great! It stands a bit out, compared to others....and the vid's around looks good. Guess this will be my next HTC (a nice upgrade from my current Cruise)
The multitouch is only a software limit on the Magic. I've installed the Hero rom and the browser got the multitouch... with it's speed limit of course... flash also is there... don't know if Adobe will make this build available on its site so one can install it on other Magic roms...

Possible to install standard Android v2.1 on Hero?

Hi all,
Sorry to bug y'all; I'm an utter noob when it comes to rooting and such - I was pretty content with my Hero's Sense UI version of Android, but the UI lag is starting to really get to me.
Rather than go nuts waiting for HTC to release their 2.1 Sense version of Android for it, I was wondering how difficult it'd be to install a vanilla version of Android (I mean non-Sense) 2.1?
Would the phone need to be rooted? Would it be like a "hacked" ROM, or is there a way to put an official 2.1 version of Android on there?
I'd be very keen to pursue this if it was possible.
Any thoughts? Cheers!
Firstly have you tried VillainRom 5.2? It does not lag and has sense (and 5.3 which will be even better should be out tomorrow).
Secondly there are loads of what we call "vanilla" roms out there for the hero which do not have sense. The only thing is none of them will have every feature working 100% as it simply is not designed to be run on the hero.
Check out the dev section and look for all roms with the title "vanilla" or "non sense"

Blasphemy, vanilla is delicious.
(sorry for this nonsense post)
Stock 1.5 actually seems faster than most of the Vanilla 2.1 roms I've tried.
Personally I'm on Villian 5.2 which is wonderful except for the massive keyboard lag

[Q] Is there anyway to add HTC Sense to this phone?

Is it possible to add HTC Sense to the Samsung Epic? Is there a launcher that can do this or just complete different UI theme or even a complete ROM? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

LauncherPro is an alternative launcher that can be used with the epic -- However, although there is 'HTC Sense' themse for the launcher itself, I think they would have to be ported over for it to work.
TouchWiz is great, I had hero before epic. In my opinion TW definitely out performs Sense, and isn't as bulky. First question everyone will ask you is "Why not just bye the evo if you wanted Sense?"

I have the Epic Experience ROM currently flashed I think, and it has Launcher Pro (I also think, ha). What you're saying is that there are HTC Sense themes for Launcher Pro? Mind explaining how I would be able to change the theme of Launcher Pro to have HTC Sense? And there's a simple, easy answer for that question; The Epic has a nice keyboard that the EVO does not.
You will need to do some google work. First find a LauncherPro sense theme. Then research how to port it over to epic.

You can add Sense UI by buying an EVO
As far as actually adding HTC Sense to this phone: It won't happen mostly because Sense is all closed source.

I have a evo as well with sense custom rom and it a lot more functional as far as features go. I love sense, to bad its not availble on the epic. You can always get an evo however the evo doesn't compare to the epic in power. Movies, games and eveything looks better on the epic thanks to it gpu and super amoled.
I think ROM devs might be able to port it over, but we might have to wait for HTC to release a phone similar enough to ours first. That's what happened on my old G1, at least.

That doesn't make it an impossible task, there's always decompilers, computer science forensics, and educated guess-work that could probably accomplish the job. Whether or not anyone would be willing to take the time to do it is another question.
Of course someone who can code could just start from scratch to build something that gives the same front end results as sense whether or not the back end is actually sense probably wouldn't matter to the end user.

[Q] Android 2.3 + Sense HD??

Today gingerbeard was launched. My question is, is it possible for devs to combine the nu gingerbeard with Sense HD?
Kind regards
no, as long as htc doesn't come up with 2.3 sense hd, there wont be any im afraid...

No. It consists of loads of frameworks and libraries, hence why you don't see any Sense programs in CyanogenMod builds.

it's not just a launcher... there are many more applications, libs, etc. involved in the sense experience and until they are not ported to 2.3 there wont be any sense hd gingerbread... just like 2.2 couldn't be ported until htc made one ...

HTCDEV now live!

All the tools you need are now available. Opensense SDK, unlock bootloader (aint working) and kernal source code.
Heres to some fab ROMs heading are way!
does this mean the htc widgets would be usable in launcher pro or similar?

I could be wrong but I believe that the HTC Widgets require the HTC Framework in order to run. So if you are thinking HTC widgets in Cyan or MIUI....then forget it...never gonna happen!!
I kinda think that is one of the reasons that Cyan & MIUI were developed though for those who don't necessarily want to run Sense. You want Sense widgets?...then run a Sense ROM.
Cheers,
Jaybo

Agreed Sense needs HTC propriatey drivers and framework files and as long a CM refuses to use good drivers for the devices that they were made for it will never happen
the point is that really cool stuffs are coming for sense roms
