Hi guys, after Rom upgrades etc I have difficulty in doing hard resets, usually just pull the battery and bumble on......is there an easy way or trick etc?
Thanks
Welcome to XDA!!
Sorry...but just trying to clarify...
Hard reset or soft reset? To hard reset, go to settings>system>Clear Storage
Then you'll have a freshly installed rom (no user added software).
Pulling out the battery or turning the phone off is the same as a soft reset...
What are you trying to do anyways?
After ROM flash...a lot of the instructions said do a hard reset by pressing the volume buttons and then the on/off while doing back flips with a can of baked beans between your knees.......honestly I just wanted to do a Hard Reset after flash and ensure it worked........could not tell up till now ....thanks heaps for the reply and info, much appreciated

Hmm.. the call timer on my O2 Exec got auto reset after I performed a hard reset for some reason... Is it supposed NOT to do that?
re,
no it is not suppose to do that.
man you are lucky.
haven't tried the hard reset yet.
how do you hard reset it?
i guess the same old way power + reset.
am i right?
Hard Reset
Hit the two "-" on the keyboard and the reset at the same time
If you do a hard reset and a rom update to the radio I know it will reset the timer.

I made a ROM upgrade for the radio and a hard reset in the same time, but the timers are not reset.
Regards,
I will work on it tonight and try to build a cab if I can find all the files
Oh yeah, I DID upgrade the radio ROM at the time of hard reset, and the timer DID reset for me
I have done a ROM upgrade several times on my Jasjar. In fact once I have also chnaged it to the O2 Executive and back to the Jasjar but under no circumstances did the call timer reset itself. Personally I think it is not possible by the user.
i was loading the Touch-IT v2.3 beta for wing rom when i got an error and my phone froze up and would not connect to the pc so i soft reset it and now my tmobile screen freezes on load if anyone could help me it would be great.

Sorry quick thread hijack.. im reading here and getting ready to unlock/flash my girlfriend's tmobile wing and was wondering.. if you brick your phone, does a hard reset always return your phone to working, OEM condition? or is it possible that you could permanently damage it beyond hard resetting repair?
Thanks!
you can brick your phone beyond repair, but its actually rather hard to do so. Most people THINK they've bricked their phones, but they actually haven't. Just HardSPL the phone, and it will be virtually unbrickable.
Hard reset essentially reflashes your rom over your current installation. it wont return it to the original rom that came with the phone, but i will reset everything.
thanks! i'll remember that.
Hi guys, I just took over my dad's Dopod that was running under Windows Mobile 5 today.
During which, I installed:
PCCPIMBACKUP (and did a back up)
FIXUNREADCOUNT.exe and ran it.
After that, I resetted the device manually by holding down the power off switch and now my device won't start up again. IT keeps going to the "Dopod Screen" where is later restarts and attempts o switch on again.
IPL 1.00
SPL 1.00.00000
GSM 01.13.20
OS 1.0.13.21
I have not installed any other software except for these and I have attempted to hard reset twice with no avail.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
are you sure u hard resetted the correct way?
put device on standby, press comm manager & camera button & poke your stylus in the reset hole.
should be hard reset...

Yeap, did that. I hard reseted it a few times, tossed it about (literarily) and the just left it alone for the night. The next morning it switched on and hasn't been giving me much issues. Though I just found out the loudspeakers are busted. ):
