Just saying hello to my new home.

I'm definitely 100% getting this phone when it comes out. Perfect timing too, as I get my upgrade in May.
Will you guys be buying this phone?
Best believe I will be getting this! And my upgrade isnt gonna be till oct but I am just gonna buy it or get it for the bday
i voted "i want to but dont have sprint". I have verizon but would definately switch for sprints fairer plans and this beast phone. but i dont think i have ANY sprint coverage in my area. I checked to see how many sprint stores i have in my area and in a 50 mile radius there were only 2!! all other carriers had over 10!! i also dont know anyone with sprint. could anyone tell me how i could get a complete view of how much coverage certain carriers do have in comparison?? i go to there sites but it just seems incomplete
I will be getting this phone for sure! This will be the best phone hands down.
I don't know if I will be getting it the first day out of the gate but I know that I will purchase it shortly after it has been release. I currently have the HTC Vogue and would love to have a larger screen and the flexibility of Android now.
I love how amped so many people are over this phone. I cant wait til release day
I'm going to be all over this the day it comes out! or soon there after. I can't wait to ditch my TP. I'll miss winmo but I won't miss the 2.8" screen or the ancient 528mz processor.
this will without question be replacing my creaky old kaiser with ATT. im looking forward to everything about it and sprints plan pricing.
Will sure get a Supersonic or Desire, haven't fully decided yet!
I think, I'll be taking that day off
After 6 years of being a Cingular/AT&T customer, I am switching to Sprint just for this phone.
if/when there is a gsm version i will get it for sure
but for now i wait...
I've been with AT&T for eight years, and I'm planning on switching to Sprint when this phone comes out. Currently I have a Nokia N97. No Comment........
Been with sprint for...awhile...and I'm sitting on my upgrade for this. I need to get rid of this horrid TP (RAPH800).

is this true at all?

i want to upgrade to the N1 when it hits sprint, i hope soon?
anyways im hearing the phone itself won't be in sprint stores and you cannot get it serviced at sprint either. you have to buy it online from google and send it in for repairs, is this true? if soo i smell a BIG fail coming. will the phone even be branded with a sprint logo at all?
Why is this posted in the HERO forum?
That sounds consistent with how the N1 has been sold so far, as far as I know.

Well that has been their trend so far with the other carriers, so it's very possible, but it's kind of to early to tell art this point
That's Google's new method--buy from google.com/phone and don't worry about anything else.
Who cares if it's Sprint branded? As long as it's considered an upgrade you'll get your nice price.

Well, the problem is that since you bought it from google.com, when you have problems and call Sprint for help, they can say "You have to call Google."
Of course, Google doesn't seem to have any publicly available phone numbers for you to call, so you're stuck with their worthless message boards...
Plus, if the actual hardware craps out, you can't walk into a Sprint store and get it replaced the same afternoon, you have to deal with shipping in two directions and be without a phone for a week....
Or at least that seems to be the major complaint about the N1 currently on the market....
just wait for the evo 4g, its got better specs then the nexus and a bigger screen,
No, just wait even more, pre 2011, dual core Snapdragon 1.5ghz phones running android will be out. If you buy the Evo, you'll wish you had waited lol

i just think the idea of going without a phone while it's in for repairs is stupid when there are local sprint repair centers. i don't see this going over well with sprint customers if they follow past suit.

if you pay 69.99+ with sprint, you can get the full upgrade every 365 days so by the time that all happens, you can get a DC snapdragon 1.5 right around the corner and still have an EVO

Hang on to your hero then. I still have every phone in my sig as a backup. I'm glad that google is doing SOMETHING to shake up the status quo a bit. Remember if you buy phones that are sold and supported by sprint, you'll have to wait on sprint for things like android 2.1, just like we're doing now. If google is able to get sprint (and other us carriers) to budge from their traditional phone-tied-to-carrier model, it'll just put us one step closer to breaking the wireless phone oligopoly.
Many years ago, you had to buy your land line telephones from your land line provider. They were sold and supported there, and they had very high costs. Then over time, that changed and people bought phones that weren't branded by their carrier. (or supported by them either, omg!). I'm sure it was a very scary time, but think about how ridiculous that sounds today.

HD2 US is a complete failure

Even with this new "UPDATE" it is still a laggy piece of ****. not to mention t-mobiles worthless 3g network. I pulled faster speeds on ATT's Edge than on tmobiles "3G". Im done looking for a rom, believe me I've tried them all, that will actually make me enjoy this phone. Save yourself the hassle and dump this catastrophe. Come June 4th I will be on the 4g network with a much better phone and much better OS. Good riddance.
Meh. Get a T9193 and use it on AT&T and you'll be a happy camper. You'll pay $25-30 less per month on Data than you would with that other phone, and the 3.5G will actually be very comparable to the "4G" *cough*WiMAX*cough* in terms of speed.
Anyway the TMOUS HD2 still seems to be selling like hotcakes. There's still quite a few shortages of them nationally.
oki, byeeeeeeeee
I have no complaints..
If you hate it that much, you dont need to be here.
Seeeeeya!
another "i want a new, shiny toy" thread....someone please pass me a violin and a beer...
I don't find anything wrong with the phone - however the T-Mobile 3G network is worthless.
Had I known about the ATT version of this unit before I never would of bought the T-mobile one. $200 for the T-Mobile one (with new contract) and $800 for the ATT one - well the T-Mobile network sucks so bad it prolly worth blowing the 600 bucks to get on ATT network!
"Your" Htc hd2 is failure!
Alot of "ours" are just fine! "Mine" is so smooth!! Sorry You didn't get get any good 1's! Tmobile does have problem, but alot of us are very happy,,,Quig
So sad that this forum is being flooded by idiots who just dont post anything but their personal feelings and always open a new thread for this... If i want a review i will search for a QUALIFIED one. If i want feelings ill contact my family or watch a movie. Whats this thread supposed to be huh? If you got questions or need support --> ask. If you are too fed up with the phone --> bump it. Otherwise i dont see the point of your post.
WE DONT NEED MORE THREADS LIKE THESE AS WE ALREADY HAVE PLENTY !!! WHY DONT YOU JUST POST THERE ???

Geesh another attention seeker..
Good Riddance to you too and
..............DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT YOU ON THE WAY OUT..
It seems that all those who are going to the "better" phone with the "better" OS have all previously had iphones.
Whereas those of us who are happy with the HD2 have all had previous Winmo devices.
Granted, it would be nice if there was more support and lots of new apps and games coming out every week.
I for one am happy with my HD2. Fast and stable

Should I Throw In The Towel With My HD2?

I love my hd2, I just got it. But, I'm using it on ATT and currently am seeking to unlocking it. I'm thinking about switching to Nexus one because of it's ATT 3G and wont need to be unlocked. I have been without phone use for about 3 weeks. I want an easier to open battery door, but that's about it. I really don't want to have to mail my HD2 back and wait for a refund, then buy a N1 and have to wait.... I just really need help, should I switch or not? I barely ever make calls on my phones, I usually text and don't have Data but was planning on adding it on when I got the HD2. Will Edge Data speeds be really bad? I'm just so confused right now, I was hoping I could trade my HD2 for a N1 to make it quick and easy so if I didn't like it I could switch back but NOBODY with a N1 wants a HD2. It's stressing me out because I need a phone to use ASAP, but don't want to make the wrong decision and be stuck with a phone I hate for possibly years since I'm not signing another contract with ATT, but don't plan on switching to another carrier.
the N1 has ATT 3G bands
EDIT: wow, I guess it does. How the hell did I miss that they released an AT&T/Rogers version of the N1??
The difference in EDGE vs 3G is quite substantial. Nowadays I would consider EDGE data connectivity speeds almost useless. So for you, I would recommend a native 3G device over an unlocked device that only connects via EDGE. ( Not that I am recommending the N1 over the Hd2 )
I understand the inconvenience you state about having to return your phone online and to be without a phone in the meantime. Have you considered selling your HD2 locally via Craigslist? Then use the $$ towards the Nexus!
Or better yet, since you're out-of-contract you should just keep the HD2, since you love it so much anyways, and switch to a no Contract Tmo plan with Data and save some $$ !

So you have me a bit confused. Do you have a T-mobile HTC HD2? & why would keeping this bind you into a contract with AT&T?
If you are using AT&T and worried about data speeds I'd say to get a phone that works with AT&T 3G, You do know that AT&T will be releasing iPhone 4 this month? ( I know I am probably going to get bashed for this) This phone will be the biggest bang for your buck if your looking into touch screen, 3G speeds, & smartphones. I'd say return your HD2 wait for your refund and buy a simple phone til the iPhone 4 comes out.
But that is just me. I am just fine with my HD2 but I am on T-mobile so I get 3G speeds already.
Edit: okay I just reread your post so please disregaurd my above statement, I thought you were signing another contract with AT&T
But regaurding your N1 if you are big on data speeds and the N1 can both support both 3G networks for AT&T & T-Mobile then i'd almost say its worth it and do what I said above and get a cheap phone off of like craigslist to hold you down til then.

AT&T's data sucks... Everyone that I know using an Iphone says the data, interenet, etc is slow as hell. Also At&t just announced they are doing away with their unlimited data plan... How nice of them...
If your not getting 3g speeds HD2 its pretty useless.
Yea, I heard about att's new "courtesy" for data. I'd like to switch to T-Mobile but my contract doesn't end till sometime around April of 2011. Craigslist isn't an option because I'd need to get the same ammount I paid for it and I'm not sure if I can take it back anymore. I'm never using eBay again either.... TOO MANY FEES, I'd end up losing $50 if I got $400 for it. Nobody on here is looking for an HD2 either.... I love the phone but if Edge is as bad as i'm hearing I don't think I can go through with this.
Do yourself a favor and throw that hunk of crap in the garbage and get the new iphone on the 24th, i have had 4 HD2's and all were huge piles of ****, you cant even text message on the thing unless you type one letter per 20seconds LOL i actually threw my last one at the wall and smashed it cause it is just a **** phone with good parts that HTC obviously couldnt sput together to make it run smooth, Even the scrolling is choppy as ****, anyways sorry im so angry but these phones are ****!!!! Im even gonna switch to ATT if i have to from tmobile on the 24th to get the iphone 4 if i have to, but hopefully verizon will have it as well. GL buddy
Thanks... Their was an offical statement made by Apple that their would be no CDMA iPhone anytime soon.
who knows with apple, they might throw out a bone, it would be sick if they offered it through Tmobile.
yeah i'm trying to sell my HD2 too.
might have to resort to ebay...
*sigh*
I've heard you can get very fast edge speeds with at&t... around 700-800kbps. Theres a thread about it somewhere in the original Leo General section.... thats as fast as I'm getting with T-Mobile 3G. I'd prefer the HD2 over a N1. I would definitely not go with the iphone. But thats just me. I prefer WinMo. I'm not a fan of locked down OS's like apples. I like the versatility and functionality of winmo. My HD2 has been one of the most stable phones I've owned.... and what other phone can you play any playstation game at full speed?
ATT has the best 3G for a GSM carrier, I live in South Florida so I suppose if your correct about fast EDGE speeds than I may take a second look about that. I just need to unlock it first...

Haven't you heard? It's called 'Jailbreaking and Unlocking.'
yup i know but they might be able to stop that with the new Iphone but who knows, if there is a jailbreak and unlock i will just cancel ATT after i get it and switch back to Tmobile and keep the Iphone. I have a way of not having to pay the cancel fee so its all good.

Im with you on this starkall. Im not going to get an iPhone but really cannot stand this damn HD2 anymore. Coming from a G1 which has flawless SMS and MMS and going to this where you have to repeat stupid steps just to type a message is killing me...I love the display, like winmo, but just cant live with this sms and cracking phone calls.
According to recent posts in the LEO non-tmo section HTC doesnt feel like its their problem. So probably no fix for it unless its replaced completely or Win 7 is ported soon.
I have an HTC incredible for my work phone and everytime i pick that back up for emailing, sms or just straight web browsing im more disappointed with the HD2..Im not one of those " F^#K WinMo, android rules" people. I actually haven't used the winmo os since back on my TMO dash. I really like it and see huge potential with some of these devs...But basic sms..come on meow.
yeah Ima pick up a nexus one not an iPhone.
I'm using an HD2 on AT&T right now. EDGE isn't bad on it; it's definitely manageable for most websites. Only downside is that YouTube is pretty much a no go.

Need help with verizon rep.

So guys I need some help I was part of the ppl who called verizon and got them to give me a new phone. I went for the DINC2 and like the phone, my problem is I got the phone and really like it. Don't get me wrong I loved my fascinate and got really excited to see this GB leak, but I think I am going to stick with the DINC2. Well today I ran into another problem, I called the vzw rep again and told him i was having bad service with the new phone and he offered me a new DINC2 or a DX2, or a chance to upgrade early with this I would sign a new 2yr contract and pay $299 for a charge. What would you guys do? FYI the rep is calling me back soon and Idk what i am going to do. (kinda thinking I might want another fascinate)
Thanks,
Jake

Why don't you ask the rest of your "people"? Besides, if you don't like what you get can't you just call vzw up and get another new phone?
Sent from my cm7 fascinate, bro.
I also got the dinc2. I love it so far. I would stick with it. The antenna is in the battery cover. Try a case with it. That helped my signal a bit. If you look at how you hold it, you can see the signal move. HTC has promised gingerbread by end of 2nd quarter, and from what I hear, they keep there promises. I'm sticking with mine. Root for it is around the corner. Just my opinion.

Droid x2 is dual core. Not sure about locked boot loader though as motorola is a nazi company...
Inc2 is single core as inc with more ram and 4" screen.
Charge is single core, but you will get grandfathered into a unlimited data package rather than the tiered packages coming later this month.
Rangers lead the way... (i am not a ranger
Not sure what was meant by my "people" but getting them to give up another phone is pretty hard to do. I just want a phone that does what is promised. I think I am going to stick with the DINC2 for now, got the rep to leave the early upgrade on my acct til I can make up my mind.
Bob-o, you are right this is a great phone and I know that they are going to come out with some great dual core 4g phones so I would like to save the upgrade for one of those. I really hope root and Gb really is right around the cornor.
Racer, Do you know anything about the tiered packages? cuz I am on a unlimited data plan now, but was wondering if they would make it apply to just 4g. I was trying to get the rep to hint to something and he made it seem like as long as I didn't change my plan I would still be good when I do upgrade to 4g. (on a side note I am no longer an active Ranger it has been like 6yrs)
Tiered data plans are coming. The data used by smart phones has gone up so high lately that vzw, t mob, att all offer some form of tiered data plan to reduce data usage...
Vzw is scheduled to offer it this summer.
Ranger, I hear once a ranger always a ranger. I'm just an artillery man. I've been out for a few years myself.
If you get 4g now, you'll be grandfathered into an unlimited plan... That's why there is such a large exodus to switch to the 4g.
Other than that, I would probably either pick... Not sure... I'd take a charge if they offered it to me though.
Racer
true once a ranger always a ranger.....I have let myself go a little bit, but I take the skills I have learned with me forever.
The word on the street is that thay are going to start charging July 7th, but 4g is still so new. I don't want to get an early upgrade and renew my contract for two years with phones like the bionx and sg2 coming this summer.
Same... I'm just going to bite the bullet too... They want me to upgrade and renew my contract at the least and I'm not sure if that's what I need when the phone isn't a true hardware spec upgrade...
Same with me on letting go. I probably work harder today, but I am certain I would fail APFT... hahaha
I understand that......when I was in we had to score a 290 on it. And we ran 10 miles every 3rd monday. I tried to run a mile last week and it was a 9.5 min mile and I was dying.
As for my phone I will give the dinc2 a good run.
