I'm sorry in advance about this question, its answer will probably be humiliating for me
DISCLAIMER: I'm not using Dream, but instead an alpha 1.5 build for the Blackstone. I realize this could be the problem.
Anyway: I'm trying to find stuff in the Market, however, most searches end up with some hundreds of results while I can only see about 8-9 of them in the scroll pane. I can't flick scroll below that however hard I try.
Which is the "normal" way of browsing through applications from the handset, e.g. skipping to the next page of results? Is it a hardware button I don't have because of Blackstone?
Thanks.
The normal method is to just keep scrolling, it should load a bunch of other results. Then when you get to the end, it loads some more and you can just keep scrolling until you reach the last result. That's how it's supposed to work, no hardware button or pages.
Just as flobin said. Side note, if you want to just look around the Market you can use Cyrket. Find what you're looking for then just search for the name from your Market app.
Thanks, now I know it's some sort of mis-function by my build.

Hi,
I didn't know in which forum to place this post, hopefully this is the right one.
I have had Hermes for a couple of months now and I use many programs to read stuff like RSS feeds and books on it. I am very disappointed with how scrolling to the next page is solved in these programs.
I dread turning pages because I always lose track of the sentence I am on. The programs that use the scrolling wheel to jump through links are especially unergonomic because you can never predict where they will jump. But those that simply turn the page are just as bad.
This problem could easily be solved by having the last line on the screen turn yellow or blink or something when you push the page down button. That way when the new screen is rendered you would still know where you are. This would speed up reading for me immensly and also make it more enjoyable. If someone knows of a program that has scrolling implemented this way please let me know.
Eh? what bout setting your jogdial so when you click it down, it scrolls it down to the next page. That's how I have my iSilo setup.
Even so you have at least one moment that breaks your concentration: when you reach the last page a page down doesn't move an entire page down, but less. When you read RSS-ed articles which are usually 1-5 pages long this gets really annoying really quickly.
At least using the standard RSS reader. I'm hoping there is something better out there.

tried to dl it but it says "Invalid File. This error has been forwarded to MediaFire's development team."

That's what you get for relying on Rapidshare and friends.
Register a ppcgeek account or grab it off my site in the Web Browsers section.

Go on my site, blownfuze.org, go to the web browser section, click the link to the file, type in xda and xda for the user and the pass and it's done. Also posted the non-Conflipper version floating around.

1 it doesnt move to landscape when i flip my hd, any easy way to get this to work?
2 it doesnt support the hd's back button
So whats so great about this? How do I make it my default browser as opposed to the Opera already on my Pro?
Gotta wait till I leave this basement to test it with a good signal

it'll overwrite ur current opera
much much faster compared to previous version, imo, atleast on my diamond
Thanks. How do I keep this thing from starting up on boot? Its really annoying and I don't see it in the Windows startup folder.
using it now and there is a number of announces going on. I don't know it's the skin but:
1) if the page (in full screen) is loading and I scroll/pan it will jump out of full screen mode. however, if the page finished loading and I scroll/pan it stays in full screen mode.
2)screen/skin response is a bit laggy at times. I really feels it is skin related because if I click a link in my RSS reader to open in opera it would show that the page is loading but doesn't show that a new tab is open until after (roughly) 10 seconds (where as in earlier builds it is shown immediately). I think this is somehow related to the jumping out of full screen problem.
EDIT
3) when double tap to zoom in, the wait it to focus is a bit longer than usual. restarted and this problem went away.
4) I really prefer the zoom slider at the bottom of the page a) because it's much smoother and responsive, b) because I'm left handed so it's better access.
good things:
1) I like that as you type the text area follows along, even though I have a good size screen I know smaller screen users would appreciate this.
2)it seems faster but some of the discrepancies I mentioned above sort of made this improvement moot.
3) it uses sip that is set at default (tested with TouchPal)
4) got a 59/100 in acid3 test (I think the test is somewhat flawed because it seems network dependent, I ran the test 3 times, I got 59, 57, 60. so I took the middle value of the 3. if I should use the average of these 3 it would be 58.6666∞, technically 59)
5) scroll velocity is back. but it doesn't "refresh" the page as you scroll/pan, so you'll be seeing a lot of gray area even if your height and width buffers are set up to 1028 (although this size helps a lot while reducing velocity to 150).
all in all, I will be using it.
** for those who can't enter text/comment on xda after hitting the "post reply" button while using opera, all you have to do is set user agent spoof to 3 in the config. for the last 5 builds I had to do this to be able to post comments here. not everyone has this problem.
** can anyone post the "image.css" file that should be found in the folder "opera9\styles\"
Guys, if anyone of you used Opera 2520, how does this compare to it? Just wanted some insights that's all!
All the best!
What does "Full Flash support" mean? Youtube (and some other sites) only like in previous versions, or is it really FULL flash support now?
I really doubt it's full flash. It won't do CNN, Yahoo, ESPN, etc. videos. It does some of them at least on my 2520 version.
Yeah the flash addon just makes it really slow. Gonna disable it.
I cannot tell if it's flash that's making it slow, i know those darn stupid scripts make it slow! disabling it is real fast but only do it to websites that don't use those stupid scripts!

disable "delay script execution" in config maybe that will help.
I notice that sometimes android will automatically refresh a web page, one situation that it happens the most is when I am browsing the internet and open a new window from my current page, after browsing the new window and closing it, the original page gets refreshed.
Is there a way to disable this? I dont want it to refresh unless I tell it to, and its really annoying.
I guess the browser simply give up previous page when you open a new window. this is a measure to save memory and increase efficiency. a simple solution is to use a third party broswer like opera mobile.
What's worse is sites that do a perma refresh on a page. The new faceook (non mobile) is an example of that. Totally unuseable with the Android browser
i hate the auto refresh crap. especially if im google reader.
Any news on this?

Except that is SHOWS you the entire page just fine for a second, then refreshes.
Extremely annoying on EDGE especially.
I have no idea how one would go about fixing this, get into the browser code I guess.
I, alas, am no developer, but I'll donate 10 bux toward a developer fixing this, lol.
Ya that auto refresh is terrible, all it does is slow everything down since i only get edge
Most annoying part of android. I hate it to an unmeasurable degree.
I hate opera, as well as any other browser I have seen so far.
I hate this crap too. If someone can hack multi-touch into the browser, surely this can be fixed.
ya come on we need this fixed

This is a caching issue. It has been discussed many times. Use the swapper script if it really is that important to you.
and "we" need to fix this? Yeah, I'm sure you're going to contribute a whole lot.
wow i'm really sorry, i know i can't do **** about it thats why i hope you guys help me i couldn't find a link with the swapper script
so if you could tell me that and how to apply it i would love you
+1 this problem also really bothers me, hopefully someone can put something together.
generic node i'm waiting fofr your help
Search the forums.
thank you so much generic node i owe you one for that
so i searched for g1 swapper script so if i just run that script the webpage won't auto refresh or what
Hey folks ... first post, and I did try to search for this but came up with nothing.
Wondering if there's a fix or workaround for this. Some pages, when I load them, are not resized correctly for the browser. I would post a link, but ... you can google search for "best of the web today" and the first match is a page that does this wrong-resize behavior.
While it's loading, it is sized correctly. But once it completes loading, it resizes and it's too wide, so I have to scroll horizontally to read it.
This is just one example, but there are many pages that do this.
If I stop the page load before it's 100%, then it stays sized correctly for the browser (well, the block indents still run off the right side, but this seems to be true for every single thing that has block indents). So something that happens when it completes the loading is the problem. FWIW stopping it at like 95% doesn't seem to affect the content.
Any of you seen this, or know how to get around it? It's becoming quite annoying.
have you tried an alternate browser?
no ... is there an alternate browser that 1. doesn't embed ads and 2. supports flash?
tried it in skyfire, same problem.
flash isn't supported with android except the new 2.2 froyo build. even then, most official froyo builds haven't been released. there is a froyo build for the aria built from cyanogen mod source, but flash hasn't been figured out yet.
a lot of people like dolphin browser. opera mini is pretty popular as well.
@mattbollenbach, I think the OP may have meant "FlashLITE support", one of the nicer HTC features, if you ask me. I don't know if there are other browsers that support HTC's FlashLITE, but it shouldn't take too much to test that out.
Personally, the only thing that annoys me about the browser is when I load it, google is my homepage and it never displays correctly... haha, always way to big for the screen. Obviously, this is nothing more than the tiniest of gripes.
hi there, i recently bought my first android, a nexus 7 and before i started to mess with it, i noticed something cool that i been missing a lot on apple devices: when i clicked small buttons or links in the browser, it zoomed that area so it was easier to choose. SUPER COOL i thought..
ofcourse later i had to root it, change rom to PA, and all the stuff a new android newbie has to, and i didn't really see this little feature anymore, is it something i have to install again, did i loose it when changing from stock rom > PA rom? don't even know what this "feature" is called
any help appreciated

I can't get it to work all the time, but it seems to happen most often on dropdown menu links or where there's a lot of small links close together (like page number links in a long thread on XDA.) I'm still not 100% sure what activates it, but I just loaded this subforum on my Nexus 7 and touched the lag thread title/page number links and it popped up magnified. Same thing for the "Quick Links" dropdown menu at the top of the page. I clicked the menu, then tried to click "Social Groups" and the section of the list I was on became magnified. I think it only happens when there's a certain text density on the screen, because when I zoom in I eventually stop getting the magnification box, but at that point it's really easy to click individual links.

Does Paranoid android use Chrome? It probably doesn't. That very useful feature is a google chrome thing. Here is the Play Store link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome&hl=en
And if at any time android ask's you which browser to open, tap on chrome and tap on "Remember" or something like that.
as there is no other browser on stock on nexus 7 i assume you have been using chrome before. and this feature pops up most likely when you are not zoomed in and navigate through a site where diffrent links are very close together. just to avoid clicking the wrong link of course.
as McMichael96 said, you can just install chrome afterwards when using 4.0+ on your nexus which is quite common obviously haha.
maybe you should also check out the other browsers which are available in the market which also have their unique advantages compared to e.g. chrome.
for once there is Opera Mobile, which renders the text on pages when you zoom in to match the screen width which makes it very easy read without scrolling sideways.
for chrome, the major advantage is, if you are using chrome on other devices as well, that everything is synced.
if using e.g. opera on other devices, syncing is available as well.
there are even more browsers like firefox (which i don't like much) even though favourites and bookmarks are accessable quite nice, dolphin browser which is very popular and have a sleek userinterface, or more.
consider to give them a try... happy to hear your feedback after trying out. cheers.
