How is it possible to enable auto screenlock after like 30 sec idle or everytime the display is turned off without having prompted the pin?
Hi zooster,
try csdevctrl, it supports what you want. I'm using it on my TP2.

You only have to disable the locking in the settings!?!
you can set the autolock through the registry without having to input a PIN. That way it only has the slide to unlock screen. I can't remember the registry key off hand but I remember it being pretty obvious. Search the registry for "autolock". It is a dword either 0 or 1 (off or on)
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\BackLight, AutoDeviceLockEnable 0 change to 1
eeeuuhm at options just un vink ask pin
hi,
your registry entry is working fine. But it's asking me always for the PIN.
I cannot uncheck the "Prompt if phone is unused for"... it's grey.
Anybody an idea why?
I read about that, that it could be because I am synchonizing my contacts/email etc. with a exchange server, but I am not sure.
Thanks for any tipps.

You have to "[email protected]" the policy from the exchange server to enable the option to uncheck ask for a pincode...
take the following steps:
Install regedit ( PHM Regedit : http://www.phm.lu/products/PocketPC/RegEdit/ )
Change the "\hklm\security\policies\policies\00001023" to 1 ( as described in : http://blogs.alittlestrange.com/blo...assword-policy-on-windows-mobile-6-0-6-1.aspx )
Remove the password checkbox ( as described in : http://blogs.alittlestrange.com/blo...assword-policy-on-windows-mobile-6-0-6-1.aspx )
Good luck.... But beware.... This might conflict with the security policy as descibed with you company or organisation...

I need some help in figuring out some stuff here. Can anyone help me please. I have tried almost all options but didnt get it. Looks like I need to tweak a thing or two somewhere
1. How can I set my Qtek to sync date and time with the network's date time it is connected too. I know in other phones we have a option to overwrite phone's Date Time by network's date and time.
2. I am latched to cingular here. How do we enable cell info in this phone. ie. most of the towers you are connected to have an area name, so your phone flashes the area location you are in. Is there a way to set this option in this phone.
3. I know this is a very silly one, but I am not able to get the time in normal 12hr format. God, its taking me a long time to figure this out and still trying.
Can anyone share some knowledge on this

what region do you have specified in Regional Settings?
Start--Settings---System---Regional Settings
For mine I have it set to English (United States) then in the Time field I have the following setup:
h:mm:ss tt (optionally you can set it to hh:mm:ss tt)
"Time Seperator" should be ":"
"AM symbol" should be "AM"
"PM Symbol" should be "PM"
HKLM\SOFTWARE\OEM\PhoneSettings
ShowTimeZonesPage to 1
Soft-Reset and a new tab will open up in Phone Settings. Check the box and you're good to go.
I have no clue why some of these "hacks" don't come as default with the OS

Only on AKU2 ROMs - just in case original poster is on a pre-AKU2 ROM

Well, one of the nice things with sync'ing to the network is that you pay no GPRS costs. Mind you, I have yet to find use for it with my PocketPC. Its internal clock is good enough to not go wildly off
I also read somewhere that it's supposed to sync with the desktop when hooking it up through activesync, but can't say I've noticed any such thing.
Hi all,
I have a problem that appears on the WM6. It worked
fine on WM5 .
On my P3300 wm6 when I click to Send/Receive my e-mail a messagebox pops up saying "Currently the roaming mode is active. The sync can be more expensive"
(I have an dutch version so the message could be a bit different, sorry).
I cannot understand how remove this warning, if there are any settings or register changes i can do...
Thanks you in adnvance
Go to: Key: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\
And this there:
ShowRoamWarning
Value: DWORD:0
Have you gone into ActiveSync, menu, schedule and checked the box "Use above settings when roaming"?
This will enable auto syncing when roaming and you shouldn't get the message when roaming - at least I don't with the WM6 versions on my Touch, Trinity or Herald.

I have 6.5 on my HD and was curious if I could use the lockscreen but without a password so I could keep the slider and notifications, I just dont want to enter a password each time thanks!
the only time you have enter the password, is if you setup the pin function on it, otherwise the slide fuction in wm6.5 works as normal

if i do not enter "setting">>"lock" and click the "prompt if phone unused for", the unlock slide to application screen will not appear.
but if choose not to enter the pin, i cannot select the "prompt if phone unused for"
is there a way to activate the unlock slide to application screen but no need to input password everytime??
million thanks.
Forced lock by MS exchange
Yes this is a huge problem. I have the pin lock force on by MS exchange security settings. In WM6.1 this only affecxted when the phone was turned on not everytime it is locked.
This cab (from another thread) removes the lock enforced by Exchange.
Works on my 6.1 and I believe on 6.5 too.
Run it, then go to you Lock settings and the tick box to remove lock is no longer greyed out ...
Alternatively here's the reg setting to edit:
Enable/Disable Exchange Security Policy
Registry Key: HKLM\Security\Policies\00001023
To enable it: Set value to 0
To disable it: Set value to 1
I used similar registry tweak in WM6.1 to get away with the exchange security policy but not working now for the new WM6.5. eg. I can change the inactivity minutes AEFrequencyValue to long enough but still the phone asks for unlock password frequently.

I have the Same Problem.
I'm force to have a Password from the exchange security Policy.
I have set the "Promt if phone unused for " to 30 Minutes, but each time the the phone goes to sleep, the Password is asked again.
Did someone have a solution without disabling Exchange Policy or installing S2U2??
Thanks

If you disable lock in setting > lock, i.e. untick 'Prompt if phone unused for' and just use slider functionality in wm6.5 you don't need to enter PIN any more.
Install attached cab (Smart Lock) and once installed go to settings > system > smart lock and ensure that both 'wm6.5 new lock' and 'suspend lock' are ticked, then soft reset. Now each time you turn screen off device will lock and to unlock it you use the slider
I installed the Stay Unlock cab and I still have to enter my password when my phone reboots. Until now, for day, it did not ask me for a password after 15 mins of inactivity, but today, it is again asking me for passwd every 15 mins if I don't use the phone. I am not even able to ever uncheck the setting for Lock which turns on requiring passwd - that setting is grayed out for me even after installing the cab. Could someone please throw some light on this? Thanks.

WM 6.5 Company Policy Activated Device Encryption
I recently set up Exchange e-mail on my WM 6.5 AT&T Tilt 2 (Touch Pro 2), which resulted in activating device encryption. Although I check the email box to remember my password, the device constantly asks me for a password.
I've since removed the Exchange e-mail account (I'll go back to synching rather than direct connect as this is too much of a hassle). However, I can't seem to turn off device encryption.
After reading this forum, I've tried the "Stay Unlocked.cab" and the registry settings (e.g., HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\00001023 setting) to no avail. The "Prompt if Phone unused for remains grey/unselectable.
One thought: When I checked the 1023 key setting it was 0 so I set it to 1. That had no effect. But reading the post 0 = enable so I tried setting the value to 0 and got a message popup: "Exchange server has just enforced security policy required for Active Sync." So something of Exchange is still running or enabled...how can I turn this off?
WM 6.5 Company Policy Activated Device Encryption
Deleting the Exchange connection in Active Sync did the trick. That was so easy I do feel a bit foolish...
After installing a new exchange mail account, my HD2 had started to prompt for a screen lock password (maybe a policy issue?).
I did apply one and then tried to remove it (did not enter anything in the password fields and then saved). My HD2 repeated bugging me for a password.
I did set it to 'every 24 hours' .
Now, each time I connect to activesync via USB or after each soft reset, the HD2 prompts fro the password.
Is there a way to provent that? or at least to prevent when connecting via USB to activesync?
Thanks

I don't think this is the HD2, it's the exchange server policy, I used to have the same thing and it was hugely anoying, so I got our infrastructure engineer to remove the policy on our exchange. Now I don't need to login each time
Yes, but isn't there a method to inhibit that passcode request?

You need to edit the registry on the handset and make the following change:
Enable/Disable Exchange Security Policy
Registry Key: HKLM\Security\Policies\00001023
To enable it: Set value to 0
To disable it: Set value to 1
After setting this value the option to disable the security is no longer greyed out. Once setting this it does get reset again when connecting to Exchange. There is a utility that can periodically check for the setting and remove it found here:
http://blogs.microsoft.co.il/blogs/...curity-policy-for-windows-mobile-devices.aspx
I just got a HD2 with T-Mobile 2 weeks ago and I want to disable the password login policy from my exchange server. So I searched online and found the following solution:
-------
Enable/Disable Exchange Security Policy
Registry Key: HKLM\Security\Policies\00001023
To enable it: Set value to 0
To disable it: Set value to 1
-------
I edited the registry according to this using TotalCommand, and the password login was disabled for about a day. Then all the sudden, the password login comes back again and the registry value has been set back to 0.
I wonder is something is overwritting the registry value or did I do something wrong?
Thanks for the help!
Password disable
Try searching for zenyee stay unlock, it is free and I have been using it with my TPro 2 and corporate exchange mail password lock for a year. You need to install it and when the lock is sent by your exchange you need to regedit the settings again for the lock code to be turned off. In the future you will get a popup to say exchange has enforced security again but the locking has been disabled.
Works like a charm!!!
Jack
I installed Zenyee Stay Unlock, and I checked the Registry which has a value of 1, but the password is still not disabled. Any idea why?
