I have the T-mobile Compact V, but i'm not satisfied with the housing. Not only the Diamond 2 haousing looks better (metal look and not plastic), the Compact V has a cap in front of the USB connection. This prevents the use of slide-in carkits...
I want to replce the housing with an original Diamond2 one. Only doubt i have is that all the housings are sold without the buttons... Maybe the buttons on the compact V have a different shape and the housing won't fit!
Has anybody tried it?

Sweet! Just what I was looking for!
Does anyone know where I can buy a new plastic casing for the Cingular 8525? The phone works great, but the outside is chipped a bit and a little beat up. I would like to replace it if possible. Everything I find when looking it up just returns cases / holsters - I'm looking to replace the actual casing the phone is in.
Alternatively, are there any good, hard cases that are not bulky and protect the screen as well? I had a metal one for the 8125 that worked well (although a bit bulky), but this phone doesn't quite fit it.
I would like to know too. I have too many scratches now and would like to clean it up. I don't want to switch phones until that Blackstone comes out!!
Hey, i was searching for Hermes Housing few weeks ago!
First thing you have to look are the different Hermes Models
HERM100, HERM200 and HERM300
The 200 has got a unique design so these Housings are not compatible to the other ones, but the 100 and 300 are nearly the same, the exclusive difference is the Front-Key-Layout.
The Key Layout does no effect to the compatibility of Housings.
As far as i know the 8525 is a HERM100 but it does not have a front camera. So if you want to put a 8525 Housing on a normal HERM100/300 you will loose your front Camera.
But inverted if you put a Hermes 100/300 Housing on a 8525 it will fit and you will get an empty front camera hole.
So if you got an 8525 you're able to buy every Hermes 100/300 Housing!
Here is for example one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/BLACK-FULL-HOUS...39:1|66:3|65:12|240:1318&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14
But if the pictures are true, it will only fit on 8525, because missing front camera. So the description is wrong, it will not fit for example with MDA Vario 2 (HERM300)
and here's my favorite Housing Seller:
http://stores.ebay.com/ukhitechstore
There you're able to find a 8525 Housing:
http://cgi.ebay.com/SILVER-FULL-HOU...20336QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1713.m153.l1262
But there is also a amzing Black Housing for Hermes 100/300, which i will buy as far as i get the money
http://cgi.ebay.com/BLACK-FULL-HOUS...20336QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1713.m153.l1262
I hope i could help you!
i have bought a full housing as mine was scratched to hell, there easy to replace.
Was wondering if its possible to rebuild the Hermes using the tilt housing for the lcd from a Kaiser? When i had the Kaiser it wasn't that different from the Hermes in terms of shape and size so am i right in asuming the insides would match? Ideally what i'd do is just replace the LCD housing for the tilting one, retaining all the original Hermes parts exept for the tilt mechanism.

IMHO if you start trying to do that you will regret ever starting it. OK they are roughly (I do mean roughly) the same size, but every screw hole will be in a different position, the detailed parts like switches, flex cable connectors, holes for connectors, camera etc etc are not in exactly the same positions and to be honest it would probably be easier to manufacture your own casing (as daft as that sounds).
Personally I think it's a fantasy that can never be!

Somehow possible
Hi!
I have managed to rebuild my HTC TYTN with black centre housing with a black 8525 housing and smaller front keypad.
Now its all black, but it lacks the tilt function on the kaiser.

Its not that entire screen section i want to use, just the hinged sliding mechanism. The casing itself is different and i doubt it would fit right anyway.
On the Hermes you've got the 2 sliders that screw into the casing with the 4 screws. Surely the ones on the Kaiser are the same but with a hinge to allow the tilt?
I'm gonna go digging around for a Kaiser disassembly manual. There's one on the Wiki i think.
Cheers guys.

I'm afraid the mechanism is very different. There is a double coil spring mechanism in the TyTn II. You'll see it in the Manual, but seriously and I don't say this lightly, IMHO it's not a workable idea, there are no sliders like you have on the Hermes. There is no spare space in the Hermes. The entire hinge part on the TyTn II is a part of the Keyboard casing so you would need that part and the screen section contains the double coil spring, so you would need that section as there is no spare space in the Hermes to fit it. So in other words you would need the complete Kaiser casing. That then leaves you the impossible task of fitting the Hermes circuitry into a complete Kaiser casing.

Ah ****, i forgot about that. Not to worry, it was just an idea. Might try getting hold of a dummy device and fabricating something, though i doubt i'll make the time and effort for it. Heh

I have a couple of small cracks on the plastic casing of my new Pure.
I was wondering if the casing from the TD2 would fit right on this phone, or if they are not compatible? I like the look of TD2 casing and that it doesnt have the little "door" over the charging connector, I hate that thing.
Otherwise, any suggestions where to get new casing?
Thanks in advance,
-rezilient
They are compatable, but you would need the antenna for the regular TD2 case because they are different. No housing I have seen includes this, so if you find one let us know. Oh, and you would also need a different digitizer to fit the new housing
A little expensive, but a good shop:

Or you could try ebay
I replaced the digitizer on my diamond 2 last night and I think I need to get a new housing as well as I broke it trying to get the old digitizer out.
Does anybody know what the quality is like of the non-oem ones and if you can get oem ones for a decent price (preferable in the uk).
Thanks
ps if anyone is thinking of just replacing their housing or digitizer I would highly recomend replacing them both at the same time. It was hard work seperating the old digitizer from the housing which is glued
