I replaced the digitizer on my diamond 2 last night and I think I need to get a new housing as well as I broke it trying to get the old digitizer out.
Does anybody know what the quality is like of the non-oem ones and if you can get oem ones for a decent price (preferable in the uk).
Thanks
ps if anyone is thinking of just replacing their housing or digitizer I would highly recomend replacing them both at the same time. It was hard work seperating the old digitizer from the housing which is glued

Has any one replaced just the digitizer on their Wizard? I've managed to break mine after only 2 months of having the thing. I have a new one on the way that I ordered from ebay, but was wondering if anyone had actually replaced one and had any tips?
Is the digitizer glued to the the LCD? If it is, are they easy to get apart? I have the service manual and am happy to take the thing apart, but was looking for tips, advice etc....

8525 Digitizer Installation...
Hello,
I have an 8525 with a broken digitizer (LCD OK). I replaced the whole unit with a new combined LCD/Digitizer. It is a pretty straightforward repair. It took me all of about 15 minutes (you just need a #6 torx and a jeweler's phillips).
Just in case this happens again, I purchased a new digitizer (only). I want to remove the old digitizer from the LCD screen and replace it with the new one. The problem is: the digitizer ribbon cable is attached to the LCD screen, possibly soldered but I can't tell. Are there any instructions anywhere regarding the digitizer removal and installation?
Thanks
Im new to all this whats the digitizer exactly?
The digitizer is the top portion of the screen. It's what registers your stylus' contact on the screen. It lays on top of the LCD and it looks like 1 piece, but its actually two. And for those wanting to know if the digitizer is soldered, the answer is no. It's held in place with tape, but it is easier to just replace the combo instead of just the digitizer. Most often then not, when removing the damaged digitizer, it will crack and may possibly damage the lcd, or so I've read. I just recently cracked my lcd, so i got a combo and switched it out, just to have a scratch on the digitizer the following day. That's life. Waiting for my next new combo to come in the mail.
You'd be better replacing both the lcd and digitzer as 1 unit than try to unglue and reglue the digitizer onto your screen. A lot of hair pulling and screaming involved and no guarantees it'll work. For the $100Aud I'd just replace the lot in one hit. As markus1959 said its a 15 minute job but stuffing around with just the digitizer is a major hassle. Even Mike Channon (he's the hermes hardware guru) advises against that unless you're really into pain and frustration....
Cheers...
Hi,
from where do you all get a new LCD (+ digitizer).
My LCD is cracked (digitizer OK) so I need replacement.
I live in Switzerland and I can not find a shop with a reasonable price.
I have a couple of small cracks on the plastic casing of my new Pure.
I was wondering if the casing from the TD2 would fit right on this phone, or if they are not compatible? I like the look of TD2 casing and that it doesnt have the little "door" over the charging connector, I hate that thing.
Otherwise, any suggestions where to get new casing?
Thanks in advance,
-rezilient
They are compatable, but you would need the antenna for the regular TD2 case because they are different. No housing I have seen includes this, so if you find one let us know. Oh, and you would also need a different digitizer to fit the new housing
A little expensive, but a good shop:

Or you could try ebay
Hi,
I stepped on my HTC HD2 (European version) and now the screen is broken. Actually the glass istself is fine, it's something underneath it. First some black spots appeared, then they started spreading around the screen perimeter. (See attached images).
My question is what do I need to replace? The whole package? The glass? LCD screen? Digitaliser? Or are they all same thing?
Thank You.
LCD is cracked.
LCD & Digitizer glass are bonded together & can be separated.
Normal scenario is dead digitizer & removal of delicate LCD can be difficult, as you are saving Digitizer you should be OK ! take extreme care of all ribbon cables ...
You can buy these 2 parts already assembled or individually.
Worth also noting that the HD" EU model & USA T-Mobile screens & connector are not the same so do research before committing on parts purchase.
T-Mobile USA is easier to repair as has socket connector but EU version has solder connector.
Looking a photo you have EU version ...

So all I need is this part HTC Touch HD2 T8585 LCD?
P.S. Screen is fully responsive, just the black dots...
assuming you dismantle & assemble it without damaging any ribbon cables.
Most people seem to have issues with button/digitizer ribbon due to bad handling ...
also connector soldering is required if buying LCD part separate ...
Black/greenish oily dots are LCD fluid I expect.
Had the same problem with my old phone. After checking with a repair service, it was actually cheaper to buy a new one on ebay instead of getting it repaired.

I know. I asked official HTC service in my country, ant they said it would cost 350$ So I'm thinking of buying broken part myself and find someone, who could fix it for less money. We'll see how it goes

The Cheapest Way is to fix your Cracked Displayproblem by yourself. You can use US und EU Touchscreen-Glases and LCD-Displays. HTC has two Versions: With Soldering ( the 295 Version ) and Click On without Soldering ( 300er Version 2 ). Both are Working in EU-Models perfect. I preffer the better 300er Version...
Now i´m working since a couple of days ( finished today the 1st quarter from my instuctions ) on my DO IT YOURSELF Web-Project and i will bring this forward the next few Days if i have a little Time. Here the Link:
mperlitsch.hintergrundbild.com/htc_hd2.htm
It´s complete in German ( because this is my Language and the Reason for my poor englisch here ), but i bet you can do that Step by Step when you look at my Pictures. Remember: It´s not finished yet, only 25%. I will write the whole Process to Change a complete "Touch-LCD Modul" and Parts ( Glas or LCD from 295er and 300er Version ). It´s really easy to separate the Module e.g. Glas from LCD ( i need 30 Sec. to do that without heating up only with a simple thin Guitar-Plec). The Only problem is to find the correct adhesive Sticker tape. The 3M Brands with 2mm is perfect to Tape the Glas and LCD together.
I recommend for every 1st Timer to buy a complete 300er Click On Touch/LCD Modul. It´s ready to use and a easy; fast and Cheap way. And if you destroy the Glas in 1-2 Years, you can Replace only the Glas without Soldering.
Best Regards and excuse my poor english,
Michael
Recently, my son dropped my HTC HD2(Europe/Greece version). The result was a broken screen. As I found out later, only the cover glass(digitizer) was broken and the LCD was OK.It even worked over the broken glass but it was dangerous to cut yourself anytime.
I looked in ebay and found a new digitizer at about $15. I also found a guide on youtube on how to open the HD2 and replace the digitizer. I followed all this steps (difficult and tricky but possible) just to find out that the ribbon cable of the old digitizer was welded(soldered) on the LCD. I found out after that, that there are 2 types of HD2. The one like mine and the (I think) T-mobile version which is with a connector.
I had no luck trying to mannually solder the ribbon cable on the LCD. I am not so good on that.
The next is to order a preassembled LCD with a digitizer. It costs about $40-$70 on ebay. It is a litle expensive, so I 'I try to keep it safe. Has anyone else experienced this situation? Are there different types of LCD as it is for the Digitizer?
Can anyone help me on making a corect decision?
Thank you

You should buy The T8585 model.
Don't worry if Tmobile is written on the screen.
