USB Cables - Touch Diamond2, Pure General

Guys, do you use the cable provide or your own standard cables ?
Reason i ask, is the Phillips ones I use are the standard shape and not the cornerless ones HTC provide (hope thats makes sense).

Correction: I have found one 'standard' usb cable that will not fit. This is on a 'Powerchimp' portable charger that uses regular AA batteries to recharge the phone. The plug will not fully insert.

Use a HTC Sync cable with the Nexus S?

Hey Guys
Just wondered if i would be able to use a HTC Sync cable (micro usb) with a Nexus S? Are they standard cables?
Just dont want to send a freakish charge from my pc through my htc micro usb sync cable to my soon to be new Nexus S
Thanks,
JD
i think that wouldn't be any problem because it is also micro usb! i will take my old nokia 6700 cable, like i did with my i9000^^
It is a standard. You can use any microUSB charger that outputs 500-1000mA @ 5v. (IE: just about all of them)

Xoom Charger

Does anyone know what kind of charger the xoom uses? Is it the micro USB like the droids? I hope so. Thanks.

its not unfortunately. its more like a laptop charger but much much more thin.
No. Unfortunately, it's a proprietary charger with a huge freakin' wall wart.
Watch the XOOM Unboxing vid here to see it.
The video says the USB gives a trickle charge, but that's wrong. The user manual explicitly states NOT to try to charge via USB as it may damage the device. I wonder how many morons will try that and fry their XOOMs.
Confirmed.
keith_4g (Motorola Engineer):
"The USB port is not capable of doing any sort of charging. Any power drawn from a USB charger is leakage current and not necessarily good for the device."
Does anybody know if / where extra chargers can be purchased? I want one for work and home.

Stopping USB charge
How would one prevent a USB connection from attempting to charge the Xoom? Yell at the electrons to stop?
The port just doesn't support charging, just data. The batteries draw too much to charge over USB.

Like most barrel type connectors, it does "click" into place. I'm more worried about the connector breaking off in the receptacle; the male plug is only 1.5mm diameter.
Unfortunately charging through USB is likely to be uncommon with tablets given standard USB's 500 mA limitation. The iPad charges through the USB, but it does not charge when the device is on.
to answer the question about the charger and how it fits. Yes is does slip out of the charging port rather easily especially when using the portfolio case which for me is the biggest design flaw of the xoom. I overcome this by using the docking cradle and sitting the xoom in my lap. Works well for me.
I wonder how true is this? It claims to be a car charger with a micro USB tip.

charger is a disappointment, but not a deal breaker. Another device another cord, just when I thought micro USB was just getting some steam. But on the bright side no orientation issues. I suspect I will get the dock and the charger will not matter.

Its not gonna charge. That charger is designed for a phone. They're just bundling it together like they do for every device lol. Its pretty well documented the Xoom won't even trickle charge over USB.
it is a 12volt power supply. That is why it is so small not to be confused with the 5v mini USB. The Xoom needs 12 volts to charge
I'm sure that someone like iGo will come out with a tip for it. I have already e-mailed them about it. I have two tips for it for different devices that store on the cord so you don't loose them. The will be solutions for most of the issues if we are just a little patient.

Included Accessories

I've been searching Google and I surprisingly couldn't find out what accessories are included with the US version. Maybe I could've searched through all of the lame reviews, but I figured I ask you owners.

To be clear, does this mean that a 30-pin to USB plugs into a USB wall charger?

Why the need for addtl cables?

I have seen quite a few threads on certified usb c cables. This may be a dumb question but why is there a need for people to buy other type c cables if the 6p comes with them?
Extras buddy.. Not everyone wants to use the same cable everywhere

Because someone might want to leave one at work, get a charger for their car, and just have a longer cable or extras. My cat ends up chewing on my cables while I am sleeping, so I am waiting on more cables to come before I leave my charger out at night.
One for car, work, bedside, etc.
Thanks guys. I figured it was probably for extras but wanted to double check as I'm still figuring out this type c thing and didn't know if I need to buy any other cables
Isn't the included Type C-Standard A cable a bit short for charging from a desktop computer?

It's only like 8". Might work for a laptop, but not a desktop with a high USB port.

That's why I purchased the additional C to A cable from the Google Store.
The included Type C to Type A cable is less than a foot, so it's relatively useless. Many people want a cable for home, work, and their car.
I needed one for Android Auto.
Wait....is it possible to have too many cables? For anything?

The USB Type-C to A cable is short, but I just use a Type-A USB extender cable that I had lying around to make it longer. Short-cable problem solved.

I personally like to have a charger available wherever I go whether it be my office, home, car, parents house etc. and since no one has a USB c cable yet I have to provide my own

Trusted site to buy spare parts ? (OP5 charging connector)

Hi,
My charging connector is dead and I would like to change it.
Does anyone know where I can find the official charging connector? And if not possible, at least a reliable one. I'm located in France.
Thanks in advance

Yeah I realised that, that needs a whole daughterboard though, you can't just buy the power connector.
