Profiles? Text messaging? How to do 'em right? - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Themes and Apps

I've used Phone Alarm for profiles of sounds, radios, etc. Is there an option that works with the TF3D / Manila world?
It seems like there's some conflicts here - partially because Manila seems to have its own notifications of texts (and email?) that overlap the native stuff - so I get two sounds, which I can see in their respective areas in the registry. Trying to do increasing volume of additional alerts 30 seconds apart and such... no can do, right?
How to handle this elegantly?
Previously, I used Phone Alarm for profiles and Wisbar Advanced for application handling and menus. Much as I like the touch-y-ness of Manila, I'm missing the consistently controllable behavior of these.
What do folks do? Tolerate this? Replace Manila with SPB? or what?

I always dump Manila straight away, and use Mobileshell, Phone Alarm, and S2u2.
That is my basic GUI sorted.

I was afraid that was the answer.
I was using Ultimate Launch to get the multiple screens.
TF3D is so pretty... I hate the idea of going back to what I had just to get the basic stuff to work right.
Anyone else with other answers?

Vibrate Scheduler

Whats up guys
I was wondering if there was a program out there that lets you schedule vibrate on/off. This would be really useful so that it would change before and after classes, after 11:00pm or whatever.
Thanks guys
Joe
The HTC home plugin mod by kaiser will do this
Search the forums for 6 tabbed htc home!
Just a quick explanation of how this works. the HTC Home plugin has four options for setting the volume/vibrate of the phone. Normal, silent, vibrate, and automatic. Automatic is the one your looking for. Basically, what it does is put your phone into silent when you have an appointment in your calendar. The only problem is that it doesn't take into account whether the appointment is listed as "free" or "busy". I personally wish it would not silence the phone when the appointment is listed as free, but you take what you can get.
so it's tied to the calendar ?
you cannot schedule it to do it at certain hours even though the calendar is empty ?
I think PhoneWeaver does what you are looking for (if im not mistaken)

Or PhoneAlarm.
Any suggestions of programs that don't need to take over the Today screen? I'm using Windows Mobile 6.5 default today screen which doesn't seem to have automatic vibrate like TouchFLO 3D had.. I'd also rather have it as automatic silent, not vibrate, so I still need a real program even if I go back to TF3D.

I have NO sounds for my notifications...

Yes, that's right, I don't even get a notification or a sound from my calendar when an appointment is due...
I don't know why this has happened, but I suspect I've done something in the registry...
I do get notifications and sounds when I for example receive a SMS, It's just the calendar that won't work...
Please help me asap
And I have also already checked the control panel, and there I have enabled sounds for notifications/calendar
Im not an expert but have the sound files corrupted or something along those lines? If you have your SMS sound working, have you tried assigning that sound to the one that doesn't work and seeing if it works?
Can't be much more help other than doing a hard reset if the above isn't any help.

Yes, I've tried that, but it's not working anyway... I now have it set to my SMS-sound, but no 'pling' on my appointments from my calendar...
and no notification either...
Same for me.
Notifications' sound has disappeared some weeks ago. Probably something I've installed.
At the moment on my phone I have very few applications, here they are:
- Advanced Config
- Beyond pod
- Facebook panel
- Mort player
- pocket player
- S2U2
- SmartPhone Tracker
- YouTube panel
Could you please check if we have some apps in common? Probably the problem is due to one of these.

Of these I only use YouTube panel and Facebook panel (don't use that one).
Did you check under sounds and notifications if you're sounds are still selected there? Did you change their location?
Hope your phone is not mute in any way...
Sorry, I have no other idea...
look at the options of the calender... (extras->options...)
I have the same problem. I do have an sms sound, but no incoming call sound or a notification from the outlook calendar. When i try and select any sound for incoming calls in the sound and notifications menu it plays perfectly. When I get an incoming call there is no sound at all. I also tried to change the settings to ring only, but nothing...
Programs I have installed:
Xperia tweak
TomTom 7
SecureW2
G-Alarm (but it was before I installed this)
Sony Pictures player (hmmm, this might be the one)
Modaco NoData
Total Commander

Help me choose a launcher!

So, i've tried a whole bunch of them, but none of them works quite the way i want them. What's most important for me is the ability turn on/off WiFi and BT with one click, and device locking, all of that on the home screen. Instead of just piling up links to programs, i'm much more interested in launchers that allow me easy access to settings.
TF3D - don't like it at all.
SPB Mobile shell - i can turn BT and WiFi on/off with two clicks, but device locking is buried somewhere in the menus and it's a pain using it, cause i'm always locking it. Also the problem is that that half of the menus were empty, for instance "Games" menu - nothing inside, even though plenty of games were installed.
PointUI - doesn't have the two most important things, and also doesn't support croatian characters, so all my contacts look screwed up. Aside from that, i like it a lot.
FingerPoint - also missing the key ingredients and is quite buggy.
From what i've tried, i definitely like SPB best, but would love to know if there was a way to get the "lock device" button somewhere on it's first screen and to fix the empty menus.
Oh yeah, another thing - analog clock is a must.
Thanx
why dont you try spb phonesuite. Its Today plugin got everything you want.
(if you using TF3D then you need to host it outside of Today screen with TouchFlo Detacher)
Thanx for the suggestion. Works great. I also found this - Quickmenu. amazing start replacement, has everything i need.

Few gripes with the HD2, can they be fixed?

Hi,
Only had my HD2 for a couple of days having come from iphone and have a couple of gripes with it. Maybe it's just me though as never had a windows phone before.
When using opera internet browser you have to zoom in quite a bit to press links, which I find a little annoying. I've tried skyfire which is much better, but you can't use pinch/zoom. Is there a browser that has the best of both worlds?
Is there a quick way to turn bluetooth on/off without having to go into settings?
Is there a quick link to profiles? I know if you hold the end call button you can select between vibrate or ringer, but not silent. I must admit, this is one thing I liked about the iphone, there was a simple switch to change from silent/ringer without having to turn the phone on and press buttons.
When making/receiving calls sometimes the screen comes back on and my ear presses other functions, or disconnects the call. Has there not been a fix for this issue yet?
The call quality isn't great, sometimes the caller distorts on certain words/letters
And finally, is there any way to change the vibrate? Can it be set to 'pulse' rather than just a continous vibration. Can it be set just to give one or 2 pulses when receiving a sms/mms message, rather than vibrating for the full length of the message alert? (I've personalised mine and goes on for about 10 seconds)
I think the phone is great, and these niggles aren't the most major of things (accept the screen turning back on during calls) but it would make the phone more of a pleasure to use.
Cheers
There are fixes or programs for most of your niggles, but they may not integrate with the HTC Sense interface! That's one downside of such a deeply coded front end, and one reason why I personally have stopped using it!
There is a file available which can allow links in Opera to be clicked when zoomed out- sorry, but I don't have time to link to it at present!
For profile and radio (BT/WiFi/Phone) switching, I'd recommend SBSH Phoneweaver . OK, it costs $15 but you can set any number of profiles with switching based on time, location, busy status etc, or manually. The pop-up menu also has a set of switches for the various radios. It can be launched via one of the 3 Program buttons on the front page of Sense, or via a small icon in the Taskbar. I'm, not sure if it can have the vibrate times defined or not!

Thanks for your response. What are you referring to when you say radios? Please forgive my ignorance, I'm still learning
You say that you have stopped using the HTC sense interface so what do you use instead?
Just having a look at the phoneweaver, can this be used with the sense interface? Does it overide the phone settings?
Radios = WiFi, Bluetooth and Phone Radio. These are the things you see in the Comm Manager with the little green On/Off sliders
I'm now using a 'Light' custom ROm without the HTC Sense stuff. I prefer to use a plain 'Home Screen' (which you can achieve by going into Settings/Home (or Today) and selecting the Items tab. From there you can turn on or off any of the Today items or Sense itself.
A lot of the programs I use have their own Today screen plug-ins which suits me fine- Resco Contact Manager, Elecont Weather and Chronos clock/alarms, plus I use a Launcher program called Launchpad by Panoramic Software that is opened by tapping the top left of the screen; this has 40 definable 'Favourites' links plus a full set of Programs/Settings links.
Back to work now!

It can take over all the phone settings and can be manual or scheduled, plus some other useful switching options. You can try it free for 15 days!

Thanks for that thread, the trouble is I'm not a real computer/phone buff (yet) and so a lot of it goes right over my head. I don't even know what registry's are, and wy you need to edit them???
Ok, the concept of registry is quite simple. I'll put in a way so anyone can understand. Its a repository of stored key/value pairs.
Imagine a folder like structure, when you open a folder you will find a series of keys which, when opened, reveal the value.
Every key/folder is used by the OS or by some application. Its where all the back door settings are stored. So if you wanna make an app or the OS behave in a way you need to change the settings.
Using the registry is easy, but you have to make the first step... so what are you waiting?

Can I bugger up the phone if I don't know what I'm doing?
You can always make a backup of the registry you are changing. In resco registry editor tap and hold and press export. If the changes you made are not good, go to the folder where you exported the backup and open it. It will automatically imported and problem solved. But if you follow the instructions you won't have any problems, just don't change the registry for something you don't know or never seen in any tip/suggestion.
You could affect stuff if you dont do it right... but if you follow the instructions carefully without any typing errors, you will be fine...
Use this to Turn off BT easily.... it also does a lot of other stuff... basically, your bottom left softkey will become an "action" button... prssing that will bring up the screen shown in the screenshots. Works really well for me... also give you soft reset options without opening the back cover or powering off

Simple Today Plugin - missed calls and voicemails

Hey, I have a hopefully quick question, but haven't been able to find the answer I'm looking for yet.
I have a Touch Pro 2 and am really starting to like the simplistic view of the Today screen without TF3D or the Windows Default views.
Unfortunately if you don't use TF3D or Windows Default, the Today screen doesn't display missed calls or voicemail notifications. Is there a simple plugin that will do this? I've done quite a bit of research and the only real solution I've been finding is PhoneAlarm which sounds good, but I am looking for a free solution.
Anybody have any ideas? I find it hard to believe there isn't a simple (free) plugin that will do this functionality...
Thanks in advance for your help.

If you're going for the simplistic view, then why not use the LED notifications for when you have a missed call/voicemail/text/email? Also, even on the today screen, when you have a missed call or voicemail or text or whatever it should display an icon in the taskbar. Beyond that, you're right I have no idea of a free solution to this unless you enable Sense or Titanium. Maybe other people will know more, just thought I'd suggest the LED thing
Try HomeScreen PlusPlus here http://www.chi-tai.info/cs_batterystatus_xda_neo_wm5_im_cs.htm
Thanks for your suggestions.
I'm looking for something a bit more advanced than a flashing indicator on the phone I want to duplicate the functionality of the Home screen on Sense (that shows the voicemail and missed calls notification and allows you to directly call you voicemail and see the list of missed calls.)
I tried the HomeScreen PlusPlus, but it appears to only track outgoing calls/texts and not the missed calls and new voicemails...

HomeScreen PlusPlus can do just that, but you need to write your own MortScripts or modify existing ones. The DigiClock skin provides these functions, but I think the graphics it comes with are for QVGA screens, so if you used VGA graphics with the skin you'd get your functionality. I may have MortScripts I modified that does exactly what your looking for as well, before I moved to Pointui Home2. Let me know if you want them and I can post them for you...
That would be great if you could post them - I'd love to try them out.
Thanks!
