Vibrate Scheduler - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Whats up guys
I was wondering if there was a program out there that lets you schedule vibrate on/off. This would be really useful so that it would change before and after classes, after 11:00pm or whatever.
Thanks guys
Joe

The HTC home plugin mod by kaiser will do this
Search the forums for 6 tabbed htc home!

Just a quick explanation of how this works. the HTC Home plugin has four options for setting the volume/vibrate of the phone. Normal, silent, vibrate, and automatic. Automatic is the one your looking for. Basically, what it does is put your phone into silent when you have an appointment in your calendar. The only problem is that it doesn't take into account whether the appointment is listed as "free" or "busy". I personally wish it would not silence the phone when the appointment is listed as free, but you take what you can get.

so it's tied to the calendar ?
you cannot schedule it to do it at certain hours even though the calendar is empty ?

I think PhoneWeaver does what you are looking for (if im not mistaken)

Or PhoneAlarm.

Any suggestions of programs that don't need to take over the Today screen? I'm using Windows Mobile 6.5 default today screen which doesn't seem to have automatic vibrate like TouchFLO 3D had.. I'd also rather have it as automatic silent, not vibrate, so I still need a real program even if I go back to TF3D.

Off topic: Alarm with BIG off / snooze button!

Hi, sorry to invade with what seems like a trivial issue but does anyone know of an app that allows the following functionality? I used my old phone as my alarm clock and am missing the functionality on my Magician -->
1) BIG snooze and off button / or hardware button map for off/snooze (can't see much at 5am!)?
2) Play audible alarm at max volume even when PPC muted?
Any help would be much appreciated - or good excuses as to why I have been late for work since I got my new toy!!!
Thanks,
OB.
How about this one?
that prog is great and what u ask for. i use it myself!
Perfect!! Thanks very much indeed...
One slight problem - The today plugin conflicts with my Calendar plugin and completely removed it from the today screen and config page?!?
I did a few resets and uninstall / re-installes to no evail, so I removed the pTravelAlarm plugin registry entry (software|microsoft|today|items) and ptplugin.dll (windows dir) followed by a soft reset and my Calendar was visible on the Today screen again... odd?
I am not too bothered about the Today plugin part of the pTravelAlarm program so still happy
OB.
You could also try Spb Time. Large snooze button. Never fails to wake me up.

This was the standard built-in plugin that was trashed -- I did try Calender+ and it worked fine, but wish it would show a tomorrow appt. if it is the next one, as the built-in one does...
OB.
I have now tried both the pTravelAlarm and the Spb Time. The Spb Time is cheaper, has more functions and are better looking than pTravelAlarm => use Spb Time
I don't follow you with that you can't see tomorrows appointment with calender+. I can see the following two days with all their appointments. You can easily display up to 31 days with calender+.
Spb Time is about what I wanted as an alarm when migrating from Nokia to Magician. Had to install some fix to get it working though. Alarms and Windows Mobile doesn't seem to get along.

I like to display next 2 appt. only. So if I have a 5pm and an 8am next day, I like to see them both on the today screen but not more than 2 appt. so the display 2 days does not work for me? Unless I am missing something in Cal+?
Thanks for the inputs, much appreciated...

Strange, I have no problems, so far....
@obarnes With calender+ you can set it to display the next x (between 1 and 31) days, hours, appointments and so on. Just enter the options and set it to whatever you want.

I have used both WolfClock and StopTime. Both are pretty good and they will do what you want.
StopTime is more barebones, visually simpler and to the point, though less refined. While cruder, it is quite good at what it does. Also has various timer/stopwatch functions.
WolfClock is more visuals (fancy backgrounds etc) and colours. It runs of Compact.net, is therefore a bit slower to boot up the firt time after a soft resent. It also eats up more memory space with all sorts of cute things like a setting where you can tell it to play music for x mins until you go to sleep. Some might call this "bloat". The one thing I will say is that at night you might find the choice of a softer screen color worth the extra memory.
Both have good handy button size for when you need to stop, snooze etc and both are free.

How can I get more reminder snooze options in WM5?

Hi!
Is there a way to get more snooze options in the reminder bubble?
In WM2003 there was 1 day, 8 hours, 2 hours and 1 hours. But in WM5 there's only 1 day, 1 hour and 15 minutes. It's relly frustrating to snooze a reminder 23 times (if i set a 1 day in advance reminder) to be able to get the reminder 1 hour before the event starts.
I've searched the forums and internet in general but haven't found anything. Does anyone here know how to add reminder options in WM5?
\\ aste
I am also looking for this, anyone knows ?
Any news?
Just a suggestion. After setting it for the 1 day reminder, and being alerted by the device at that time, why don't you just edit the event and set the new time for 15 minutes before? No snooze in that, just a new reminder time.
G'luck
phoneAlarm by PocketMax lets you do this, if it helps...
Edit: Actually - sorry, after re-reading, I'm not sure it does the snoozing thing. Apologies.
To change the entire event will take much more time than just snoozing it for extra XX minutes or hours.
Phonealarm is a great application, but it impact alarm repeat or sound, but doesn't customize snooze menu :-(.
I know this may sound weird, but if there is a specific list of "obvious" updates or changes that NEED to be made, let me know. I have an old friend from high school that works for MS on the WM5 project. I do believe the snooze stuff should be changable. Where you can alter what you want your snooze functions to be. But anyway, about the list. Is someone compiles a list, i'll be glad to pass it on to him.
Any more news on this topic.
Does anyone know if we can change a registery setting?
I am also looking for a way to either change or add different snooze times..! The standard snooze options are SO FRUSTRATING...!

Media Player needs some fixes...
-option to make it always use storage card even if storage card temporarily disappears
-in library, the back button functionality needs to be accessable via a left dpad click. there misht be another one that causes me to have to tap the screen when it needs to all work from dpad/softkeys
-option to remember what track and what time in track (a must for listening to audiobooks)
I agree on snoozes as well, I want a 7 hour snooze to remind me of stuff before I leave work.
I can understand wanting more options. But this one I've never seem to have gotten. Isn't the point of a reminder to remind you of something at the time you scheduled it? I mean if you weren't planning on doing something when the reminder goes off why did you schedule it for that time? Isn't the point of these devices to make us more productive not procrastinators? I dunno I'm sure someone will have a valid argument. Cheers.
I've always found using progs like Calendar + useful for knowing what's coming up a day or two in advance. If I were to schedule a reminder a day before it happens I'll sure as hell forget about it as soon as I snooze it anyway. But that's just me. I have virtually no memory. I'm like a Palm Treo 650.
JuicePPC -- remember that it is not only calendar reminders that show up on the Reminder list, but also tasks and other activities which are flagged with a reminder. I often use Tasks (or an email, or even a simple Calendar entry, etc.) flagged with a reminder as my "To Do" list. If I am busy with another task when my Reminder goes off I will snooze it for however long I expect my current activity will take until I can address the "To Do" item, or Task.

I think this does it as I recall...

I might be at work and get a reminder to ring a mate. I'll snooze it for 10 minute.
But then get called into a meeting and get the reminder again - I'll then want to snooze it for maybe 30 minutes or 2 hours (neither available), to avoid getting embarasing reminder bleeps.
Having "setable" snooze options is such a no-brainer i'm hardly surprised that Microsoft forgot about them.

notification for missed SMS

does anyone know how i can make my TD vibrate when i missed an SMS/EMAIL/CALL
(and keep vibrating every 5 minutes or so untill i read the message)
???
I'm intersted in this too. Is it possible?
I am very interested to this. + 1!
great idea!
it is possible?
Phoneweaver can do this among other things. Google it, its not freeware thou.
SPB Phone Suite can do this!
Pocketmax PhoneAlarm as well...
I believe all of these are Today plugins, so you'll need something like SecondToday to run them.

To get this to startup on phone start, go to program files/osRemindme, create a shortcut for the exe, then cut and paste to your windows/startup folder.
For this same purpose I have been using the alarmPal for sometime now, and now also on Diamond. Apart from vibrate, you can set reminders of missed calls/sms/email, like 1 time repeat every 2 minutes for next 3 times.
Check my signature for my solution (VibraNotify under 3 utilities)
SecondToday is not needed.
I am using SPB Phonesuite and once installed it is running in background. You can manage the setting in Start -> Settings -> System -> SPB Phone Suite. In phone notification you can select reminder for unread message and missed call in every 1/5/15/30 min and notification type (sound and/or vibrate).
Just without secondtoday you cannot use other feature like photo speed dial. And I did not notice any extra battery consumption.
((I have never tried Phoneweaver and Phonealram but if they would add the programme shortcut anywhere in the windows and running in the background just like SPB Phonesuite do, then I suppose you don't need SecondToday too))
I've just switched from Phoneweaver to SPB Phonesuite. Both can be controlled without the today screen, but I preferred SPB Phonesuite as you can set it to remind you with a tone different to the normal one. Phoneweaver reminds you too but plays the same tone. Both have automatic profiles too, which work excellently.

Calendar bug in touch HD ?

I've got an appointment set up in Outlook on the PC for 7pm-11:30pm this evening.
When I synchronised, the home screen on the HD says "Tomorrow 19:00 - 23:30" instead of "Today"
If I tap the appointment on the home screen to enter the calendar program, it correctly shows under today's date, with nothing tomorrow.
Possible bug in TouchFlo ?
Anyone else seen this ?
Or am I being really dumb and missing something obvious ?
EDIT : After a soft reset, the word "tomorrow" vanishes. So it looks like TouchFlo failed to update the home screen properly until the device was reset.
my bug is different
I have a different bug, no mine doesnt seem to do what you say... as far as I can see...
My bug is that when you set in options to always display day, week or month view and you quit calendar and start it again, bang it goes back to Agenda view (which is rubbish)... is there a fix to get it to stay in what its asked to stay in.

I was having the same issue.
I needed to reset my device (Pressing power button until it gives the pop up to turn off) and once it came back now it is working fine..
I can set it which way I want now and the setting is sticking...
...and more:
I got all of them... calender always opening in agenda view, a TOMORROW instead of a TODAY until reset, AND another one: IF you activate lets say THREE alarms, only the first one shows up on the today screen, no matter what time it is... So if it the first alarm is over, my Touch ELF's display would change to show to the next open one, but the HD does NOT. Ridiculous...
I see 4 every day all the call.!?Sync by activesync. How to delette this sync?
I too am bothered with this problem.
I want my calendar view set to Month view. So I've choosen Month view form the options and everything seems OK. However, everytime I choose calendar from the home screen it briefly starts in Month view, and then opens the agenda view.
I've tried everything I could find on the net to solve this problem, including:
- Adjusting the calendar to month view and afterwards soft-resetting my HD. Still the same problem.
- Adding -vm to the shortcut in the calendar shortcuts in the Windows directory and in the Windows/Startup directory. this opens the calendar in month view, but from the Home screen still no success.
- Searching the registry for relevant settings, but i'm not knowledgeable enough yet to find the correct ones.
By the way, if I set my calendar view to Day or Week, the same type of problem occurs.
Since I really don't like the Agenda view this really starts to annoy me.
Any other thoughts out there on something I could try?
Regards, Jack
i have the same problem! does anyone know abetter more fingerfriendly calendar program with tf3d integration?
Deixi
Strange stuff...
I don't have the problem everybody describes, but instead next day appointments show with a DS_TOMORROW: prefix instead of Tomorrow: The font is big and it occupies quite a lot of space, looks buggy and pretty annoying.
With regard to a finger friendly calendar - I used Agenda One, but it doesn't work from TF3D Home screen by default - the link needs to be edited, and I can't find the thread where the way to do it was described.
With regard to opening the calendar in the "right" view, it should be relatively easy to fix.
Searching the registry won't help because the links in RF3D seem to be hardcoded - this is the bad news.
The good news is that there's a Manila Patcher which allows to change things. If you know the arguments (somebody mentioned -vm), you can change those.
With regard to today's events prefixed with "Tomorrow", it seems that this is indeed a Manila bug, it just doesn't refresh data. You don't have to reset the device, disabling and enabling Manila is enough. This is not a workaround of course, because resetting is actualy easier, just to reiterate that TF3D is at fault.
Not 100% sure, but if I'm using the device around midnight then TF3D doesn't roll the appointments. If I'm not then it does.
Could be a complete red-herring though. . .
Does HTC have any bug tracking system available for the public, at least for submitting bugs?
Thanks for the tip on SSMaPa vangrieg!
Installed it, added "-vm" in the arguments box belonging to calendar.exe, and after some messages I am now enjoying my calendar in glorious Month view!
And before I forget, the other possible arguments are: -vd for Day view, -vw for Week view, -vy for Year view and of course -va for the dreaded Agenda view
By the way, this is what HTC Support mailed me after just one day's wait:
In order to solve your problem, you will need to hardreset your device. All data and settings will be deleted, so please back-up all your data first. Remove your SIM and memory card and go to Start, Settings, System, Clear Storage and follow the on-screen instructions.

I too have this problem, and the thing at fault here is apparently the Touch Flo 3D interface. Just as described in the original post, the calendar app itself displays everything correctly, but on the Today Screen in Touch Flo, "tomorrow" entries do not change over to "today entries" when the date changes, i.e. it fails to update.
A soft reset does indeed correct the problem, but it is also sorted out if you change the calendar content in some way. This morning, for instance, I made a simple edit (changed the location variable) in one of the entries, and PRESTO! - the entries on the Today screen were properly presented.
Now, I'm not a programmer, but it seems to me that the Today screen doesn't recognise a date change as something that should trigger an update. Shouldn't it be able to force this somehow?
Speaking about Calendars, does anyone know how to change the text color of the topic while on the TFLO3D home screen.
It is a grey color and it makes it impossible to read.
Hi there, I have the same bug with Touch Flo, but no need to reset the phone. Just go in Start / Settings / Today, untick Touch Flo, do OK, this closes the Touch Flo applications. Then rego there to tick Touch Flo, this runs Touch Flo with the right information.
HTC advised me to hard-reset the device. The problem continues.
Soft resetting touch-flo does seem to cure the problem of the immediate appointment, but it is not a permanent fix.
- Steve
I have another bug in the calendar of the Touch HD.
When I create an all-day event with a reminder, it just doesn't remind me : no ring, no vibe, just the screen that is switched on, and the pop-up appear. But it works fine with a regular appointment. Do you have the same bug ?
I don't know about you guys but i wanted to test this out so i entered some false appointments for 3 days in a row and i'm on the 2nd day and it has worked wonderfully.
It doesn't say 'today' but the top rows are showing today and has 'tomorrow' for the the appointment tomorrow.
I waited till midnight and it did roll over.
Or is this problem only via syncing from Outlook or something?
I have entered a few bogus meetings for the next day on the phone itself to test out your theory and on midnight the Tomorrow tag simply stayed there.
So once again I have no idea what triggers the bug.

Few gripes with the HD2, can they be fixed?

Hi,
Only had my HD2 for a couple of days having come from iphone and have a couple of gripes with it. Maybe it's just me though as never had a windows phone before.
When using opera internet browser you have to zoom in quite a bit to press links, which I find a little annoying. I've tried skyfire which is much better, but you can't use pinch/zoom. Is there a browser that has the best of both worlds?
Is there a quick way to turn bluetooth on/off without having to go into settings?
Is there a quick link to profiles? I know if you hold the end call button you can select between vibrate or ringer, but not silent. I must admit, this is one thing I liked about the iphone, there was a simple switch to change from silent/ringer without having to turn the phone on and press buttons.
When making/receiving calls sometimes the screen comes back on and my ear presses other functions, or disconnects the call. Has there not been a fix for this issue yet?
The call quality isn't great, sometimes the caller distorts on certain words/letters
And finally, is there any way to change the vibrate? Can it be set to 'pulse' rather than just a continous vibration. Can it be set just to give one or 2 pulses when receiving a sms/mms message, rather than vibrating for the full length of the message alert? (I've personalised mine and goes on for about 10 seconds)
I think the phone is great, and these niggles aren't the most major of things (accept the screen turning back on during calls) but it would make the phone more of a pleasure to use.
Cheers
There are fixes or programs for most of your niggles, but they may not integrate with the HTC Sense interface! That's one downside of such a deeply coded front end, and one reason why I personally have stopped using it!
There is a file available which can allow links in Opera to be clicked when zoomed out- sorry, but I don't have time to link to it at present!
For profile and radio (BT/WiFi/Phone) switching, I'd recommend SBSH Phoneweaver . OK, it costs $15 but you can set any number of profiles with switching based on time, location, busy status etc, or manually. The pop-up menu also has a set of switches for the various radios. It can be launched via one of the 3 Program buttons on the front page of Sense, or via a small icon in the Taskbar. I'm, not sure if it can have the vibrate times defined or not!

Thanks for your response. What are you referring to when you say radios? Please forgive my ignorance, I'm still learning
You say that you have stopped using the HTC sense interface so what do you use instead?
Just having a look at the phoneweaver, can this be used with the sense interface? Does it overide the phone settings?
Radios = WiFi, Bluetooth and Phone Radio. These are the things you see in the Comm Manager with the little green On/Off sliders
I'm now using a 'Light' custom ROm without the HTC Sense stuff. I prefer to use a plain 'Home Screen' (which you can achieve by going into Settings/Home (or Today) and selecting the Items tab. From there you can turn on or off any of the Today items or Sense itself.
A lot of the programs I use have their own Today screen plug-ins which suits me fine- Resco Contact Manager, Elecont Weather and Chronos clock/alarms, plus I use a Launcher program called Launchpad by Panoramic Software that is opened by tapping the top left of the screen; this has 40 definable 'Favourites' links plus a full set of Programs/Settings links.

Thanks for that thread, the trouble is I'm not a real computer/phone buff (yet) and so a lot of it goes right over my head. I don't even know what registry's are, and wy you need to edit them???
Ok, the concept of registry is quite simple. I'll put in a way so anyone can understand. Its a repository of stored key/value pairs.
Imagine a folder like structure, when you open a folder you will find a series of keys which, when opened, reveal the value.
Every key/folder is used by the OS or by some application. Its where all the back door settings are stored. So if you wanna make an app or the OS behave in a way you need to change the settings.
Using the registry is easy, but you have to make the first step... so what are you waiting?

Can I bugger up the phone if I don't know what I'm doing?
You can always make a backup of the registry you are changing. In resco registry editor tap and hold and press export. If the changes you made are not good, go to the folder where you exported the backup and open it. It will automatically imported and problem solved. But if you follow the instructions you won't have any problems, just don't change the registry for something you don't know or never seen in any tip/suggestion.
You could affect stuff if you dont do it right... but if you follow the instructions carefully without any typing errors, you will be fine...
