Unit won't turn on after charging all night

I plug my XDA II into the charger (not cradle) all night and the next morning I unplug and it takes forever for it to turn on. Twice it has not come on and I had to perform a hard-reset and it showed battery at 0% like it had never been on the charger. I thought it was PocketPlus causing it but I didn't install PocketPlus the second time it hard-reset but the problem persists... also, I don't think it's a bad unit because I've got 2 and they both do it. Anyone else experience this??
yes it has happened to me twicw as well, once when charging over night and once when charging in the car....really annoying especially seeing as i was away and was banking on my tom tom getting me home without getting lost...very difficult when all your programs have gone??
just spoken to orange about this problem with it hard reseting..they say it is the first time they have heard of this happening, so please has any one else had this happen to them
Happens to me too - approximately once every three weeks. Seems to happen more often when the mail system is configured to poll for messages every 30 minutes (possibly, T-mobile/Cingular performs maintenance at night and the phone continuously loses both GPRS and GSM connections).
This is what I've learned so far:
1. The problem only happens at night, in my house in Fremont, California. When I was away for 5 weeks, it didn't happen even once. I've observed on numerous occasions T-Mobile's (technically, Cingular's) signal going away for an hour or so after midnight.
2. Having continuous (or periodic) GPRS traffic seems to increase the probability of failure.
3. For the failure to occur, the device must be off.
Of course, none of the above observations has been proven - they are merely suspicions.
Mike.

I left my unit plugged in but turned on last night and it was fine this AM... I will keep doing this as it's no problem leaving it on.. just hold down the pwr button to turn backlight off, at least I think so as with most other PocketPCs.
Don't know if can help.
I experienced same problem after xda2 car charge using cheap USB sync/charge cable together with car charger designed for BT GPS device (poor power supply).I tried to charge device by xda2 own power charge after drop-out; nothing happened after 24h,so need hard reset
I experienced the same last night. I purchased the "3-in-1 USB Travel Kit for O2" from Amazon.com The phone was being charged, but would not respond when i woke up this morning. A hard reset brought it back up. The battery was fully charged and everything seems normal again.
I an't imagine why this would occur.
it seems its actually quite a large problem, i my self have had it happen a number of times as has some other people, its some times been referd to as a "coma" like state
actually ive not been able to prove this yet but i think of you let the unit run right now low on power, i mean really low, i believe the PPC will wake up and tell you to charge it.
It happened to my self the other day and would not turn back on even after a hard reset. but after a while (several hours) with no user action at all, it turned on and shouted at me to charge it up, it did do a Hard-reset but i think thats because i actually tried to hard reset it. It might just be possible to "wake it" with out the reset just let it almost die.
What was the state of the Phone when that happened to all of you?
I mean, was the phone off or on... I always turn off the phone (Flight Mode On) just to assure nobody will bother me while sleeping and to avoid unnecessary SARS radiation
I've been leaving both of my units turned on while plugged in and it seems to have fixed the problem.

Using iGO with battery charger problems

Dear Friends,
I am having the following issue: iGO works great, but when I use the car charger after approximately 30-40 minutes the phone (diamond) gets very hot and it stops charging the battery. Than I have to wait for about 20-30 minutes and I can charge. I did not go more far.
At the beginning I was thinking maybe it gets too much sun, but not, I tried it in a bad weather too-when no sun at all. Does anyone have the same problem-and maybe knows the solution?
Thank you in advance
Hi morbon.. When you use the GPS the phone will naturally get hot and on top of that when you charge the phone while using the GPS, it will get hotter. The phone automatically disables charging when the it gets too hot to stay on the safe side. If you use the GPS alot, I would recommend getting one of those vent holders and turn on the cool air while using it so it stays cool. So dont worry, this is only a security measure and it happens on all our phones.

I've started seeing weird restart issues too. Mostly when i'm switching between wifi and 3g/edge...
I think it's all started after i've flashed 32.50.00.32U_5.12.00.08 radio.
The radio is much better for me than the stock froyo one, as i had a lot of problems getting back on the carrier 3g/2g after being on wifi... This reconnects much more reliably, but also restarts occasionally. pretty bad.
What radio are you using?
my radio is also 0.35

Perhaps you could monitor cpu usage with a task manager? Usually the phone getting hot is a sign of the cpu ramping up.

Are you using a customer kernel?
I had a weird reboot issue on my N1 - found out it was caused by 2 things:
1) I was using a 99 cent car charger from ebay ... somehow the micro-USB connector was just not right
2) I tried a mini to micro usb converter so I could use an old Blackberry car charger and well.... same result.
I might end up shelling the 20-30 bucks for the real-deal car charger.
Charging at home is never an issue - I have 2 original N1 wall chargers and the little docking thing.
still phone get restart

hey guys If try to play gangster on my nexus one ..
if works fine...but after some time of playing game it get restart suddenly ...
my nexus one get restart on NFS shift and asphat 5 too....
i am cynogen mod rom....IS it hardware problem or Rom problem.??
This is a little funny, mine started to restart during power/usb charge as well, (4 days ago it started to do it) I was using stock everything (2.2.1) on it with a unlocked boot loader.
I just ended up rooting and installing CM7 and have not had a reboot on power (but its only been just over a day now).
Kind of funny how some of us had it all start around the 15th/16th Jan.
What would happen with mine. (using stock 2.2.1 from last OTA) This started 16th Jan.
Plug it in to main power, got a text message, open the app to reply (handcent) phone rebooted, got stuck in a boot, pull battery, it booted up but phone removed LauncherPro. installed again, plugged in, got another text, open the default message app, phone rebooted.
Left phone on charge for the night.
No problems all the next day while off power.
Got home, used USB cable for power from computer, phone reboots after opening an app, disabled LauncherPro thinking it could be that, plugged in again and phone rebooted when opening up settings.
Never had this problem before, I then rooted the phone installed clockworkmod and got CM7 installed.
Last night i put it on power and was able to send text messages etc fine.
I had the reboot issue last year. For me it started after I overheated the N1 badly.
After that it would reboot occasionally when it got hot. After a while it would reboot whenever I used the 3G or GPS for more than 5 minutes.
After sending it in to HTC twice they finally replaced the motherboard and I have not had a reboot since.
Moral of the story: Don't overheat your N1.
i think its my hardware problem

hey dude
i have install cynogen mod in my nexus one but still it get restart in some application and while playing games like gangstar ......
it also get restart when we charge the phone...
i think its hardware problem... my phone is not in warranty..now what to do?.
i can open my phone and give some Heat my hot air gun?
The first nexus one I got had that problem, and I got a replacement phone to fix it. Regret it because it had a much better AMOLED without any of the redness tinges that all the other ones I've gotten have.
It's a hardware problem.
I had the same issue, it started almost directly after I installed MIUI rom.
Before that i had CM6 so I just went back to that rom and the issue was solved.
I did't care because I prefere CM instead of MIUI.
Get the last_kmsg and see if "ARMV9 Crashed" shows up. If it does, chances are it's a hardware issue in which case you're SOL.
Right my problem sorted
Found out that it is the mother board, my was re-booting when it got over 37 degrees, was fine till it got hot then rebooted (plugged in or not). Sent it away and now have a new nexus 1, got it up to 45degrees the other day and no reboot. its a hardware fault, nothing you can do apart from sending it away
Using CM6 latest build and have had mine reboot a few times when charging too.. odd.

i9505 Crashes after Display turnes off (happens with every ROM)

Hi everyone,
i have a very strange problem, my Phone crashes after a few Minutes after the Display goes off. This even happens in the Recovery, and with every ROM i tried including stock.
2-3 months ago i had to replace the whole LCD/Touch Front, but after that it worked flawlessly until i left it at a friends house for 2 weeks.
Since i got it back it has this strange problem. He said he did nothing to the phone, there are no visible dents etc.
Last night i plugged in the USB Cable, startet a 24h youtube Video and in the morning it was still playing, i stopped the Movie, the phone Display turned off and 2 Minutes later it had already crashed.
I had to press the Power Button for a few seconds to turn it off. The again to turn it back on.
It seems to crash when the power consumption goes down, e.g. when listening to Music in the background it took a 1/2 h for it to crash instead of 1-2 Minutes.
Could this be the battery even though i can still play movies for hours on one charge?
Btw, the Battery still locks normal.
It's definitely hardware related, but not the battery. A faulty CPU is a possibility but I'm only guessing. You should have the service center look at it.
Try rising the min cpu frequency and see if there is any change.
Or maybe you're friend (who claims that he didn't do anything)is lying to you and did something (idk) maybe the first two reply may help

thanks for the replies,
i tried rising the min core freq. step by step, sadly to no avail.
the phone is out of warranty and i did the screen replacement myself, so no Service
maybe i should try to remove all the unnecessary modules like speaker; Sensors etc...
I'm still not convinced that it's SoC related since it masters every Benchmark Marathon
but maybe it's just time for an new phone
hi guys, me again
i'm just posting this for archiving purposes
I just disconnected part after part until it stopped crashing...
So i found out that the culprit was the USB Charging Connector Dock/Flex Cable.
I already replaced it and now everything is working again

Xtrons TR771L fast boot rarely working

I installed one of these units in my Alfa 147 yesterday and am having a problem where it will boot from completely off most of the time. Occasionally it will boot from standby in around 3 seconds, but most of the time i have to sit through the entire boot from cold sequence.
I definitely have my ignition and constant wires the right way around, and I don't think it's a battery issue. I tested the voltage of the constant 12V and it only dipped to 10 or 11V when starting the engine. The problem also arises when just turning the key to the second position which rules out the starter motor bringing the voltage too low.
Any suggestions on how to fix this would be much appreciated.
Side note: the surround/bezel which came with the cage (from xtrons) doesn't fit over the head unit. Anyone else have this problem? It's pretty ugly having the cage exposed.
I have the same unit and I just installed it. I tried connecting by either switching A4 and A7 (my car is Peugeot 107 and this is how it should be, similar to your Alfa I believe), and without switching them, and it's the same. Also, I set the timeout on powering off when ACC is off to 10 minutes, but my head unit turns off immediately.
I've since figured out that in my case i was just expecting too much of it. I thought that it would stay in standby indefinitely as long as it had a power source. Turns out it will only stay in standby for as long as you set the ACC off timeout for, which is 1 hour maximum. I think this must be because it consumes too much power even in standby and would drain your car battery over night.
The way mine behaves now is that if i turn the ignition off it will go in to standby for one hour. During this hour it will turn back on within a couple of seconds when the ignition is turned back on. After that hour, it will need to boot from cold. This isn't actually too bad as it usually takes less than 10 seconds for a cold boot.
My main gripe with this unit now is how much the screen is recessed behind the bezel. Due to the angle it's at in my car this means that the bezel obstructs half of the notification bar when i'm sat in my natural driving position.
Actually, it turns out it works OK for me as well. I dropped the adapter that switches A4 and A7, and it works fine. It has it's flaws (today being a really sunny day, I wished display was a bit brighter), but it's a nice upgrade on my 2008 car stereo.
I know what you mean about the brightness. It's just about usable on a bright day though so not a deal breaker.
I can recommend the DVR019 dash cam if you don't have one by the way. Super cheap and easy to install - just requires USB connection to the head unit.
Let me know if you figure out anything useful about this unit.
Are you guys happy with the sound quality? I am looking into buying same unit.
Did you buy any special harness to connect to the car?
Set timeout to autosleep instead of timed, that way it'll always boot in seconds, mine starts instantly even two days later

Xtrons Androind installing
Hi!
Did you get any answer or solutions to this, after all..? I have the same problem, and originally installed the car navigator to get powered from the ACC cable.
I didnt try this yet, but i bet to use the 10min / 30min / 1 hour switch off, the navigator should be wired to the yellow 12V cable to get continuos electricity, and not to the ACC cable, what gives eletricity ONLY when you turn on the car..
Of course without the turn off timer, it would drane out the whole battery.. I think 30min delay would be pretty cool, the time to go for examle to a store and come back, and find the android system still fast and rdy to go..
