so im trying to remove and add some stuff to my update.zip
(speficially remove the ringtones i dont want, and put the ones that i want on)
so i did that, but when i go to flash it, the verification stops me, saying one of the ringtones i deleted is missing (obviously)
how do i create a different verification file for this?

Is there a way to be able to get more signed zip files to show while in recovery? When I am flashing a new Rom or theme or anything some of my zip files aren't showing, I thought I could scroll down to view the rest but it doesn't scroll.
just keep some in a folder called roms or something, then only move some to root when you need them
OK, thanks that makes sense. Didn't even think of that
no problem buddy
As shocking as it may seem I want some blur on my phone! Im currently running gummy 2.5 but after using blur for a couple of months i miss the messaging, email, alarm, camera, sticky note widget and most importantly the icons! is there anyway for me to get any of this back? I tried installing the apks but to no avail. I think I could do with just the icons. Any advice? Thanks!
They won't install like normal apks to the best of my knowledge. You seem to have all of the APKs though from blur so try one of these methods, not 100% sure it will work but it likely should. (Edit: I'm not entirely sure what you are talking about with the icons, but this should help you get the APKs you want back)
REMEMBER TO BACKUP EVERYTHING BEFORE DOING EITHER OF THESE!
1) Download the empty InstallAPKs.zip from this post.
2) Open the archive in 7z or winrar
3) Navigate to system/app and put all the APKs you wan't to install into the zip (just drag them into the archive and let it add/update them. I'd have stuck them in the zip for you but I don't have any blur apks with me)
4) Reboot recovery and install the zip
or
1) You could manually go into the system folder and replace the apks using root explorer. Remember to set permissions to 644 for each file you replace if doing this.
Here's a zip to add the new Kitkat sounds to the system partition; most AOSP built ROMs use the Jellybean sounds, so this adds the new 4.4 ones, taken from the factory image by me.

Installation
Just flash in recovery. Nothing is deleted, but if you want to make a backup you can.
Questions
// Can you add xxxx to the zip? \\
If you would like me to add other sounds, or anything else like fonts, boot animations etc, just quote this and ask (I'm terrible at replying to PMs)
You can also add anything else your self; extract the files from the zip, add the appropriate folder or files to the /system/ folder, and zip it up again.
// Why not just put the sounds on the sdcard? \\
You could, but this way saves a bit of space on your SD, and will still work if (like my old N4) the media scanner isn't working correctly.
I installed a Walkman port that turned out to be nonfunctional, and since I was stupid and didn't make a backup before, I had to remove it manually, but I must have deleted something that was related to the Music app, because now it crashes when I try to open it. Can someone be nice enough to extract some files from the stock kitkat rom the following folders so I can check out which files I'm missing?
The stuff that I must have accidentally deleted was in one of the following folders:
system/etc/permissions
system/etc/surround_sound
sustem/framerwork (something with "sony" in the filename)
system/lib
system/soundfx
Alternatively I'd like to know if there is any way to extract these folders from the odin flashable firmware file I downloaded so I can restore these folders without having to reflash everything. There is a system.ext4 in the tar file but I can't seem to find a way to open it.
And finally, is there some way to troubleshoot what's making the app crash? It's probably missing a file, is there some way to tell which one?
Reflashing the firmware is a last resort because I already customized a lot on this phone and I don't feel like doing all of that again.
Update: I half-fixed it by deleting Dalvik Cache a few times. Now the app works but I don't see the notification with music controls anymore. Instead there's a notification that says "Music is running. Tap for more info or to stop the app", and if I tap it it brings me to the app info screen where I can force stop, clear data, etc. Also I click "play" and the music doesn't play anymore, it stays stuck at 00:00.
What's up with that?
I want to change my Galaxy Note 3's boot animation, so I followed all the steps and I came across something the guide didn't encounter. The bootsamsung.qmg won't delete or replace and it won't let me no matter what. I've copied it for back up into the Downloads folder just in case and when I try copying the new one over, it says "Operation failed!", okay let's try deleting it. When I try to delete it, it says "Deleted bootsamsung.qmg" but the file is still there no matter how many times I delete it. I'm using Root Browser btw. Can anyone help me?
Use another explorer tool .
Like FX. or MIX explorer.
Fails rename the file with a Rem at the front.
