Getting more signed zips to show in recovery. - Hero CDMA General

Is there a way to be able to get more signed zip files to show while in recovery? When I am flashing a new Rom or theme or anything some of my zip files aren't showing, I thought I could scroll down to view the rest but it doesn't scroll.

just keep some in a folder called roms or something, then only move some to root when you need them

OK, thanks that makes sense. Didn't even think of that

no problem buddy

Getting some Blur back?

As shocking as it may seem I want some blur on my phone! Im currently running gummy 2.5 but after using blur for a couple of months i miss the messaging, email, alarm, camera, sticky note widget and most importantly the icons! is there anyway for me to get any of this back? I tried installing the apks but to no avail. I think I could do with just the icons. Any advice? Thanks!
They won't install like normal apks to the best of my knowledge. You seem to have all of the APKs though from blur so try one of these methods, not 100% sure it will work but it likely should. (Edit: I'm not entirely sure what you are talking about with the icons, but this should help you get the APKs you want back)
REMEMBER TO BACKUP EVERYTHING BEFORE DOING EITHER OF THESE!
1) Download the empty InstallAPKs.zip from this post.
2) Open the archive in 7z or winrar
3) Navigate to system/app and put all the APKs you wan't to install into the zip (just drag them into the archive and let it add/update them. I'd have stuck them in the zip for you but I don't have any blur apks with me)
4) Reboot recovery and install the zip
or
1) You could manually go into the system folder and replace the apks using root explorer. Remember to set permissions to 644 for each file you replace if doing this.

[Q] Addin apps to rom

also tell me where to put my apps?? in data/apps or in system apps?? and till what amt(MB)??
As for resigning a zip: The way I do it is download the rom to my desktop, Right click on it and open with: select winRAR archiver delete out of system/apps everything I don't want ie facebook/stocks etc. While I'm in the drop in the apk's of the things I want and voila!. Click the 'X' at the top right and then drag that onto my memory card. Install as you do etc etc. No need to unzip or zip a file!.
Hope this helps!

[Q] Customising a custom ROM

OK, finally decided to pass on to a custom ROM, and the choice fell on sunaabh 1.1
Now the question is, I downloaded the ROM and I see it's a standard zip file. Is it possible to further customize it by removing/substituting/adding/updating files in the correct folders, and then flash it normally?
As an example, update the hosts file, removing the useless HTC apps, preinstalling titanium or any other app I like?
If it is possible, should I unzip the ROM, do my things, and zip it back, or does it require anything special?
Thanks in advance!

Yes, it should be as simple as that. Most likely you do not need to re-sign the rom.zip since you're already using a custom recovery (assuming you have rooted your phone), but I signed mine anyway, so I didn't get to confirm it myself. Good luck and have fun!

You can do exactly that. Open it up, mess around, making sure everything stays in the correct folder, zip it back up, and you're done. No need to sign if you're on Clockworkmod recovery.

backup question

hello everyone,
i got a lot of backups made with CWM. but i dont know which one is which android version, so i want to name them now, but is there anyway to find that out without flashing all of them?
thanks in advance.
i think you will have to flash them all and dont rename them cause you will have md5 missmatch
Sent from my LG-GT540 using XDA
You can extract system.img one by one and chack build.prop, and about renaming, rom manager can rename cwm backup.
i cant rename them? well thats annoying.... guess ill have to keep track of which is which android version on my pc
Heres a tip. Dont directly rename the folders. However just create a folder like "Swiftdroid asis" and then put the clockworkmod backup folder thingy into it so it looks like
C:\Users\Jun Hui\Desktop\CWM backups\Swiftdroid Asis\2012-03-08.00.59.44
Red shows that its on my desktop
Green shows that this folder contains CWM backups
Blue shows that its a Swiftdroid Asis backup
Black finally shows that this backup was from this date (dont change this date and times as they will have errors later!)
and i can use the same system when i just leave them on my sd card?

[Q] Multirom question

Just installed multirom and have a question. When you download a new rom zip, which folder are you supposed to put it in .
I assumed it would be the multirom folder, but I cannot find any way to move the zip from my download folder to the multirom one.
I have tried moving, copy and paste and about any way I could think of to move a file, but no go.It seems like for some reason access to the multirom folder is denied. I am sure it is something I am doing wrong and someone that's a lot smarter than me will clue me in.
Thanks
Dennis

You can have it in whatever folder you want, when you go to flash the zip file in TWRP it will ask you to select the folder that the zip is stored in.
The multirom folder isn't accessible normally for performance reasons (Android's media scanner would spend a lot of time scanning the files in there, wasting CPU cycles and battery). If you really do need to access that folder though, there are other ways to do so.

Right you are.For some strange reason when when I tried this before there was no file tree when I clicked on choose rom , just a blank page.
That's what really had me stumped.
Tried again after reading your post and and installed a rom no problem.
Again many thanks
Dennis
