Im having a problem with my calendar and wondering if it's just me or everyone.
I log into gmail on a pc and create a new event in the calendar. I tick 'All Day' and the 'Show me as' setting changes to available. The problem is after this has synced with the phone their's no noticification set, so once the event comes up i get nothing to remind me of it. But if i set the 'Show me as' setting to busy i'll get a notification when the event comes up.
Does everyone elses calendar behave like this? Anyone know how i can get a notification when the show me as setting is to available?

I have 2 folders from my exchange box also being sync'd via activesync and when i get a new message to these subfolders i do not get a Audible or a Popup on the screen. The only time that i see a notification is if the messages goes to the inbox. Has anyone see this before or know of a fix ?
As far as my knowledge there is no fix for this and is a "bug" in the roms. I have found a small work around for this. Install ms voice command v1.6. Changed a few settings on it and now it reads the email sender and subject for me even if it is in a sub folder.
Wow...I remember this problem from a long time ago. I was getting ready to start using the rules to filter email to folders again but I guess there is no point. I still want to know those emails are there, even if they are in Inbox subfolders, but it's still not an option. What an omission!
Hi,
I've just tested the synchronization of Contacts and Calendar with the Hero, and I can't seem to get it to synchronize appointments made on the phone to Outlook on my PC. I have the latest version of HTC Sync (2.0.4) installed. I haven't changed any of the default settings.
Anyone else have the same problem? Please test it.
Thank you.
when you create new events in the phone calendar, you need to attend to the top-most drop-down, which is to which calendar the new event should be added. The choices are "My Calendar", "Outlook", and then your Google Calendars listed.
If you get this wrong, the sync won't work as expected. The default is the first in the list "My Calendar", and I took ages wondering why it wouldn't sync to my Google Calendar, which was the third in the list.
Then I read about this in another thread, set my google cal when creating a new event, and it did sync.
tedious though.
I can second this.
Just change the Calendar to Outlook and it will sync as expected.
Caught me out also!
Thank you sooooo much!
and if you go into "calendars" you can permanently de-select the ones you don't use - all but Google in my case, perhaps all but Outlook in yours - and then it should be fine. And I think the new event calendar selector remembers your last choice anyway.
I was under the impression that once I sync my google calendar with my N1 then I did not have to setup reminders locally on N1. It will get all the reminders set on my google calendar itself.
That is how it used to be in all of my previous mobiles where in once I sync my phone with outlook it will remind me by sounding a selected ringtone everytime it is set to do so in my outlook.
But N1 just puts things in my status bar and even track ball doesn't light up. My default reminder settings on my N1 is to alert 15 min before the event (and not display in status bar).
Does this mean I will have to manually setup all the reminders locally for this to sound?
Any ideas? as I may be missing something here....
So I notice I have a new email notification, when I check my email in SenseUI, I hit:
Menu > Delete Message
but about 10 or 15mins later, ill get another email notification, it's the same email I just deleted (or so I thought). I've tried this repeatedly and it will still come back. Ill even click the 'Inbox' and see it's gone, only to find out, it came back. The only way it will delete is if I click 'Inbox' instead of 'Menu' and view my email through WinMo, than click the email and hit 'Menu' > 'Delete'.
This is gotta be a bug, how do I go about fixing this? It's really annoying -_-
"Delete" works for me for Exchange account, doesn't work for gmail.
I'm using Gmail, so make sense, but why on earth would it not work for Gmail? This is frustrating.
this just started to happen to me about an hour ago.
I looked through the settings to try to find the keep a copy on the server option but cannot find that for accounts outside of exchange (windows life / outlook) My yahoo and gmail accounts keep pushing emails.
I recreated both accounts and never saw the option to delete the message from the server as well. I have not had time to really look though.
Any update?
Dont use Menu>delete. Just use the soft leftkey DELETE and it wont come back.
have you tried
emails tab - inbox - menu - tools - options - tap the account you are interested in
click send/recieve schedule - bottom of screen click advanced settings and check teh dropdown 'when deleting messages' is set to delete them off the server.
I had this problem with AOL on my HD2 (shush, now. I like AOL mail, dammit!). I found that opening the mail and then deleting it from the menu got rid of the notification, but the mail, itself, would get pushed back every time I got new mail on the server (although without a notification of it being new). It would only truly be deleted when I did so from my PC. It's no biggie as it no longer tells me I have a new message when I don't, but I guess it could be bothersome for folks that get more e-mail than I do.
Note: I don't have this problem with G-mail at all.
I know at least one other person has experienced this as I found this
When I add an appointment in the calendar, I always get this message:
"New event
Local calendar does not sync with Google calendar.
If you want to sync with Google, please add Google account"
Then a checkbox for "Go to account and sync"
and another: "Never show again"
Now, I have a Google account so not sure what I need to add.

I also know what the problem seems to be. It appears I have a local "My calendar" and a Googlemail one. I know this as I have a drop down option in each new appointment from which I can choose. I cannot however find a way to make the Googlemail one the default or delete the "My calendar" one.
This means if I forget to choose I do not sync with my Googlemail account nor my home PC. Anyone got any ideas ?
Screeny attached. (Personal info edited out)
Just open calendar, press settings and choose the calendar you want...
You can disable 'my calendar' also from there

That is the settings page. You can effectively select which calendar/s you want to display but you cannot disable them they are still running but the appointment in that calendar are not shown when you open the calendar app. and even if the "My calendar" is de-selected when you try to create a new appointment it still defaults to "my Calendar". It cannot be removed or disabled and you cannot make "Googlemail" the default.
Use a rom with all that samsung rubbish removed! Simples!
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
I'm not a fan of the default calendar input etc, so I use Calengoo and in that I can select which calendar it defaults to and displays, but it costs a few dollars. Maybe try something like Jorte. I just preferred the way they worked over the stock calendar.
I had this problem but with some ROM update it went away. What ROM version are you using?
Mine always and with any ron defaults to Google.
Once selected it stays default
You can try to erase all settings and set it up again
It doesn't do that on my version (2.3.4 JVP), the default calendar I select in the settings is the one it uses.
Maybe try clearing the data for the calendar by going to
settings->Applications->Manage Applications->tab All
And selecting Calendar storage and doing a clear data.
Maybe that will clear the problem (but you will have to reconfigure
your calendar, but if everything is synced to google it should be ok)

Again thanks. I have done that as well. It only started after the 2.3.3 update (official) I can't understand why there is a "My Calendar" as well as the Googlemail one, just do not see the point.
Just to clarify how it works for me, I have all of the calendars enabled in the settings (including the phone only "My Calendar". That just indicates that they should be displayed on the calendar.
When I add a new event (tap to create) one of the entry fields is the calendar I want to create the event in. Once I set that (and actually create an event, if you cancel it doesn't stick) it automatically defaults to that calendar for subsequent events that I create.
That is how to set the default calendar being used.
