Judging from your post history, it looks like you are trying to get Android working on your Nike. Keep in mind that Android on the Nike is a work in progress and not even beta, so your mileage may vary: it may work for you, or it does not. The latter is applicable to you. Thanks to our cookers, plus a bit of personal history

My company got 800 of these little gems from Vodafone, and loaded up some software from Broadbeam (now MobileAware) that is supposed to let us stay in contact with our offices no matter where we are on the planet.
It was a good idea, but was implemented poorly: roaming coverage had/has huge holes, and the little bricks were beyond the mental capabilities of many they were issued to. Some of those guys need directions operating a light switch, so you can imagine what they are like with a PDA.
Anyway, while on a 3 day layover in Melbourne in March, sitting in sight of a cell tower, I couldn't connect. That's when I discovered XDA Developers.
I spent 2 days reading, and reading, heeding Pof's advice, and finally got the nerve to flash a radio rom, going from 1.03 to 1.27. And I connected right away.
After that, I became a frequent flasher right away. It just gets simpler all the time, thanks to some hard work by the guys cooking roms (Dutty, jasjamming, Des and others), and people like Pof and MrVanx who put together excellent guides. I flashed some of the early versions of WM6, but they didn't work with our company software, so I learned how to downgrade. It wasn't always easy, some times the Hermes would freeze, but it was remedied by reading some more, and reflashing the Radio Rom.
And finally, jasjamming got Black 3.01 out, and for me, it worked like a charm. Quick as a fox, and even ran the lame company wares.
And yet, with all the reading I was doing, and seeing all the admonitions by the moderators to other noobies like me, some people just seem to want someone else to fix their little issues. Sending messages to the guys cooking ROMs, asking questions like "why doesn't my girflriend answer on the first ring since I flashed", or "Why is my battery life so bad when I have the phone, wifi, and bluetooth on"? There are places here in XDA Developers for questions like that, if you really feel you must ask. It's just not in with all the cutting edge discussions.
So, one of the best cookers has been driven away, and its a damn shame. I'm sincerely hoping that this forum and wiki will be a source of solutions and new programs for a very long time.
jasjamming, I'm scheduled to be back in in Melbourne for 3 days around the 23rd. If you see this, it would be my great pleasure to buy you all the Crown Lager you can handle. It would my way of thanking you and by proxy, all the others who have done so much work.
I'd like to also reiterate what GreatGrey has said. Many thanks to all the cookers and experts on here. I know I haven't really posted anything on here before, but that's because I never felt I had anything of value to write. However I have spent many an hour, reading and digesting the information on here, and thanks to the information on here, i have been able to make the most out of my jasjam. (and it's good to know that one of the great cookers was from Melbourne - best city in Australia - OK, maybe i'm a little biased on that comment )
What a great thread
It is a shame to see where things are heading, and I admit, despite trying other ROMs, that I end up defaulting to JJ's Black ROMs because he's a local boy (i too am from Melbourne) and his support for the Telstra network is a welcome addition.
To echo above, I havn't posted that much either, but I am the type to "read lots, speak once"
So, for what its worth, thanks for what you have given us so far JJ, the courage, the roms and the fantastic attitude

Can the abuse be toned down please?

Dunno what people's beef is on here ?
Yes there are new members and so on, but some of the foul mouthed attacks I have seen here is disgraceful.
If your mother/wife/daughter or whatever logged on here would you want her to be subjected to such abuse ? No? Thought so!
Tone it down please - if you don't have anything constructive to add to a post, don't bother.
If it makes you feel better about yourself because you feel superior as you know more about HTC/Windows mobile etc. than other people - go back to your ZX81 or whatever but please stop the swearing and nastiness.
Sorry, just never seen such animosity on a forum in my life!
I wish I could say I feel your pain man, but I am a noob as well however I feel the more seasoned vets on here are just tired of the same stupid repetitive questions typically posted by none other than us new guys. I am not saying its right but the way I see it, its kinda like having a little brother or sister that keeps asking the same question over and over and over again while your trying to get something done. My occupation is sales and has been for almost a decade and the first thing I always try and do is look at something from all sides. In doing this it A) Makes me do a search before asking and B) Not feel as bad if I get checked by someone. Just my .42. Additionally I have found if I really cannot find something then I will pm someone I feel is approachable and let them educate me.
From what I have seen lately, the "abuse" has toned down big time around here, were you recently flamed or something, that made you think this?

I agree. The replies on this site have become MUCH more mature, helpful, and professional in the last few weeks.
I hope you're not referring to 'now' ... or maybe you're reading through the historical posts to avoid getting flamed.
This is another reason why, no matter how many times a question's been asked, the old-timers should carefully think about the legacy their words will leave behind on these forums.
I find the repeated questions unbearable sometimes, too. But the historical traces of the blatant abusive and immature replies will live with these boards for a very long time, making it unlikely that anyone will like to search for an answer before posting the same question over and over and over and....

They make the choice to read the questions then respond in an abusive manor. Its not like a brother or sister who hunt you down to annoy you. I have tried searching for a good tutorial on how to build packages and what not to build my own ROM but the usual thread I see is, "Google It and learn it the way I did." It almost like no one really wants to share their knowledge on certain areas of ROM building. I've tried googling etc. But I have still not run across a decent tutorial. I'd be willing to help make a tutorial if I knew the complete process. I've seen others claim this forum is for XDA "developers" and if you are not a developer you should look elsewhere for "help." The only way to become a developer is to learn. Most people learn by reading and asking questions. I just don't understand why people insist on berating others for asking innocent questions. I have searched for answers before and not found it. Then later I am reading a thread and I do see the answer to my question but it was not worded the way I say things possible because of language differences. So it slipped throught the cracks of the search. Should I be verbally abused for asking my question? Probably not, especially seeing as how the diversity on this forum is great. Many different primary languages and knowledge levels. It seems like before ROM cooking for Hermes was possible people were all fine and cordial with each other. Then boom, cooked ROMs became possible and it turned into if you cant help me finish my ROM and let me put the donte link in my signature I don't want to help you.
Well thats my take.
PS- if someone helps me grasp the art of ROM building I will make a tutorial and do my best to make it simple to understand for everybody.

Here my take
The Art of ROM building does not happen overnight and it is not for everyone. You are also correct there are no A-Z tutorials on how to do it. Nonetheless, there is a lot of information on how to get your feet wet. It requires certain skill set in order to develop good cooked ROM.
Skill set: Search and Read both threads and wiki, Development (someone with a development background is preferred), Cab (building and extracting) PPC registry, Windows Mobile OS (understanding how things work), device infrastructure (understanding how things work with that particular device, because they are not all made equal), understanding you could brick your expensive device with the one wrong turn. Most important patience and keep you changes to a minimum until you get the hang of it.
The list of requirements can go on but I figure with the above information you should have an idea. It takes months of reading, searching, and trying things out in order to understand how to cook. While you are researching you also want to keep with new findings, that means you have to stay on top of up coming new threads. It is a crazy cycle and some of us can keep up with it but I assure you it is not for a lot PPL.
Oh, I forgot one more thing, you also have keep up with your full time job (you know, the one you get paid for).
Thank You
lpsi2000: Thank you. I almost have it down. The only issue I had was one of my apps did not make the start menu icon and I posted it in a thread directed towards one of the kitchens and thus far has been ignored for a week or so. I posted what I put in the initflashfiles.dat etc. It makes a shortcut but appears as a folder link to the /Windows directory and not a shortcut to the EXE. I will get it eventually though.
DAFTEK: I totally agree. Why say use search or the wiki when you could post a link to the search results or the exact thread.
mrvanx: Yes, you are always very helpful.
Thank You all.

The way I get around some of the issues with applications not working properly, I flashed the ROM, take a copy of device registry and files then install the app on the device and then compare it to see what was changed. From there I normally address it with my cooked ROM.
I must disagree with this comment " DAFTEK: I totally agree. Why say use search or the wiki when you could post a link to the search results or the exact thread." although I have done it at time when the search is not obvious.
If you spoon feed the search every time, then the person will never learn how to search. I have seen PPL on this board expecting other people to do search for them and also provide the answers. Trust me there are a lot of lazy people on this forum.

You know I would go easy just everytime my faith is restored in the people here the stupid bug seems to bite again. like asking questions that where answerd in a post right above or someone wanting to be spoon fed its almost to the point where no one wants to do anything for themselves. that's pretty sad if you ask me im sure most of the cooks here did not receive the amount of help that has been given in just the past month. I understand helping people but I also understand earning respect and until that's done give me a reason why I should spoon feed when there is a search button and google.

why create another thread in 'Hermes Mobile 6', this should be put in the 'General Section'
and as far as i have seen it the abuse has been dramatically in the past few weeks
Sometimes the abuse is (IMHO) justified.
This post generally makes my blood boil http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311698 - the asshole keeps appearing in many guises, doesn't want to help but only make money. If this is the first post you see when you log on you get pissed off, then get carried away with the 'Flashing LSVW bricked my V3' type of threads.

Which ROM?

On my T-Mobile (USA) MDA, so far I've just used the standard stock ROM, the latest of them that came out.
As I'm having some problems now with my MDA (not sure if hardware or software), and would hope to keep it going until a good 3g smartphone is available on T-Mobile, I'm thinking of reflashing the ROM, reinstalling my software, etc.
So, if I'm going to have to reflash it anyhow, I might as well try one of the many cooked ROMs available on this web site.
There seem to be many of them on this site, with so many very long threads devoted to them.
I don't have time to read through all those threads, to try to determine which ROM would be best for me to try. So, if people could sum up in this thread, which are the best ROMs and why, it would make it easier for me and others.
I would want one that is very stable, used by many without problems. Having problems with the phone anyhow, I don't want to risk a ROM that will bring more problems.
Preferably WM6, even more preferably 6.1, but if those ROMs are not as stable on the MDA as the WM5 Roms, then I would go with the latter.
Anyhow, curious to hear people's feedback, regarding the best of the Wizard cooked ROMs.

Um, don't you think someone would have done this by now?
What you are asking (and believe me when I tell you, you are not the first, or the last, to ask it) is a subjective question, with subjective answers, no two of which will be the same.
While the idea is a noble one, it's been asked for by just about every new person on these threads (I probably did it too, once).
The simple answer: read the list of software on five or six of the most recently published ROMs at the Wizard Mobile 6 list, and flash the one you like best. These days, almost all of them are G4 safe, so you probably don't have to worry about that, and as long as you keep a copy of your service provider's base ROM, a copy of the Hard SPL, Soft SPL, and maybe a copy of Wizard Love ROM, you'll do fine.
Better yet, just stay with WM5 if you want stable. Stability's not really one of the high points of home-cooked ROMs, in my opinion.
Maybe you don't even need to flash. If you're having a hardware problem, flashing could be a bad idea. If your hardware decides to glitch while you're in the middle of a flash, you won't be waiting to get a new phone, you'll be in the store before you're ready. Why don't you try starting a new thread with your symptoms, and see if we can't help you solve your problem, instead of trying to mask it with a new ROM?
I'm sure you are right that there is subjectivity involved, that different people have different opinions. So--give your opinions.
I didn't just ask "which is the *best* rom", which would have been a very subjective question, such as "what is the best car", or "what is the best food". I specifically described my case, that I'm not interested in experimenting with 20 different ROMs, but asking which ones could be considered stable and safe (not risky and experimental), while providing better functionality than my present one.
Yes, as I wrote, I am having problems with my MDA, which I think could very likely be hardware-based, and will not be fixed with re-flashing. The only way to know is to try though. The phone is a few years old, I am thinking of getting a new one soon, but waiting until T-Mobile has a 3g WM smartphone available, that I like.
Why would re-flashing be something to try? I figure just like if one is having software problems on a computer, that one cannot fix, one thing to do is to format the hard drive, and reinstall the OS, start from scratch in installing applications, etc. A lot of hassle, but it can work, to solve problems. Re-flashing a phone is similar, wiping out all data, starting new, etc. Sure, the most stable way would be to flash back to the same ROM I'm using now, the latest official one for my phone. But while going to the trouble of doing that, it seems like an opportune time to try one of these newer ROMs, that I've been curious about for some time, but never bothered with before.
What are some of the problems I've been having? (This just started a couple days ago.) Neither Bluetooth or Wi-Fi will turn on, for instance. OS freezing up a lot. Definitely seems like I need an OS reinstallation, and AFAIK on the phone, the way to do that is through re-flashing.
True, after down-flashing to an AKU 1 ROM for the purpose of CID-unlocking, and going back to my current 2.26 T-Mobile AKU 2 ROM, I should try the phone out a little from there, make sure everything's working, before flashing to one of the newer ROMs. No use wasting my time further if the problem is indeed hardware-based.
Edit--just occurred to me--I should probably try a hard reset before trying any re-flashing. If I still have the same problems after a hard reset, I guess I can assume the problem is hardware-based. I forgot how to hard reset my MDA, and cannot find the manual at the moment. Would someone like to remind me how to hard reset it?
In any case, I would still be interested in hearing ROM recommendations, although I am aware that different posters will have different opinions.

Unfortunately, this kind of snide reply seems to occur on every kind of forum--people who think it more important to criticize those asking for help, rather than helping them.
Was I looking for a shortcut? Damn yes I was! Anything wrong with that? Hell NO!
I have read a lot on this forum. There are probably hundreds of threads and thousands of posts devoted to the subject of the many alternate ROMs for the HTC Wizard.
Yes, I have other things to do with my life, than spend 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, researching the different ROMs for the HTC Wizard. My whole life is not devoted to the Wizard. If that is a problem for you, so be it.
Not having time to read every ROM thread, trying to decide which might be the best for me, I described some of what I was looking for, my preferences, etc., and asked the knowledgeable people here, to perhaps summarize a little, what are a few of the best ROMs, how they compare with one another, to perhaps make suggestions for ones I might be interested in, etc.
I think that would probably be of interest to others as well as me--to see a Wizard ROM summary thread--contrasting and comparing what might be considered some of the best of these ROMs, what advantages and disadvantages one has over the other, etc. I think such a thread would be very useful, and could even be made a sticky.
Yes, I'm sure others have asked similar questions before. Is that a problem? No. Every forum has similar questions that are asked. Every time new people see the new thread, there are new contributions and point of views expressed, new insights brought to light, etc. Even if the question is similar to those asked before, there will be new answers.
So, if you get your kicks making snide comments to everyone who asks for help, go ahead and do so. That is not a very useful way to contribute to a forum, however, IMO.
HOA!!!
Grrrrr8 lecture,I'm impressed.
But when there already is a thread started for the specific purpose, there's no need to start a new thread for this.If you don't have the time to read and search, than this forum is not for you,coz this forum believes ib 'Search & Seek' and BTW! respect for others and particularly seniors,I believe.
As for giving my help to others, you are most welcome to search and read all my threads, you'll appreciate its full of help and appreciations from the members whom I have tried my best to help and solved their problems. The thing is not to criticize, but to direct to the right solution, there was nothing in it which might have offended you.
How important was your question, you can judge by the response it got in 5 days, only 2 ? you posted on 10/9/2008,that proves its importance, got my point, there was no need to post such a question ,which has been posted and answered hundreds of time, its just merely wastage of forums resources!!!

It's too bad (and more than a little ironic) that what you are doing now is exactly the same kind of NOT CONTRIBUTING to this forum in any positive way that you accuse him of, opinion or not. In fact, looking through the threads you've started, it appears you have never contributed anything .
You might feel too busy to read the posts that others took the time to write (just for people like you, I will point out), but don't expect sympathy when you get the ban-hammer for starting a flame war because you think somehow your time is more valuable than everyone else's time here.

Read the threads behind each of the ROMs. The posts detailing the bugs found will give you some idea of the stability of that ROM. You're on your own, now, since you copped an attitude. Staying friendly is the only way to get help around here, from now on.

I did not start a flame war. I started a thread, asking for opinions on the different ROMs. It was he who started to personally criticize me, not the other way around. It wasn't I who "copped an attitude".
I never said that my time is more valuable than anyone else's here. I don't think that at all, and did not imply it in the least. However, some people apparently spend many hours per week on this Wizard ROM stuff. It seems to be a major hobby with some here. That's great! But I don't have the time to get involved to that degree. As said, I don't have the time to read thousands of posts about different ROMs. So, I think it would be good for many readers, to have a summary thread about them.

This forum seems to be attracting more and more noobies every day who post ridiculous things without searching first. This forum is suppose to be for developers and advanced users... at least that was what I though when I first joined and that's what attracted me to this site. I didn't post anything for years after joining because I didn't feel I had anything important to offer, and any information I needed I was able to find by searching and reading. I read these forums everyday. It seems, though, since I got a HD2 and started browsing the HD2 forums, there has seemed to be a flood of noobies and a lower quality of posts on average.
Sorry for the rant... it's just been getting irritating with all the noobie who just joined posting countless threads asking the same questions over and over because they can't spend 5 minutes to search and read.

i understand where your coming from but look at it this way, there will always be people posting comments like this, its human nature, no one reads "signs" you could have it blinking in red neon at the top of the page and still one one would see it, the polite way to deal with it rather than slag people off for asking a question that they have already asked is to answer it then tell them to search, wiki etc next time, if the user has had several posts then there is no excuse, but first time posters or even very new posters shouldnt have their heads bitten off because regardless of "rules" they do not know any better.
Think of them as children, most kids learn through doing, telling them its hot doesnt always work!
and regards to your point about every noob posting, well yes they will, you wont stop it unless like yourself they have some common sence, most do not, for many on here english is not their first language, all im saying is
they ask a stupid question, its their first question/post, politely either tell them the answer or point them too it then explain how to do it next time.
They have already created the thread, you will post a reply anyway, you may as well make it a useful reply
ironically none of us has answered him! lol
ok, go to the forum lists and look near the top you will see WP7 development, the HD2 is the most likely piece of current hardware to support the software so its mostly related to HD2
and search next time, as you can see it gets peoples backs up!

I have been using WinMo since O2 Mini days. That is at least 8 years ago (if my memory serves me right). However, I still consider myself a newbie as there are so many new things each day.
And yes, I do search the forums before posting questions. But sometimes, even searches generate so much results that filtering them one by one would take a long time.
So please, have mercy on newbies like us and give us the chance to learn, and maybe we can contribute better later.

Obviously they didnt, and its their first post, perhaps we could be a bit nicer? you know, not scare everyone new away. This whole website has become very draconian in the last few years perhaps its users could at least try and maintain some politeness and common sense

I searched all formums before I posted.
I even searched this forum before I posted when I was only 14!
So why cant other people do the same.
i think a newbie section should done or a block on until u have looked at post info for newcomers then give people a quick guide of where to look etc

Well I too haven't posted because I haven't had anything to add, but I think that when you bear in mind the increasing popularity of smartphones as well as this site you are bound to come across more questions from the inexperienced.
Just remember that the search methods and site structure may not be apparent to everyone at first, as such feel free to chided them for their inexperience but at least help point them in the right direction. After all the times I have been helped by someone else asking a simple question.
There are no stupid questions, only stupid people.
No, WM7 will NEVER work in an HD2. Here is why. Each WM7 capable phone has a unique hardware ID number spacific too WM7 phones. This is for XBL Live intergration, as its a way to lock out cheaters phones from XBL and keeping the playing field even. No ID, no WM7, and only WM7 spacific phones have this ID system.

Your making one huge assumption, and that is that they can not find away to get around the block of running native code and having direct access to the APIs
i see what your saying about the online cloud intigration with live and yes that may prove to be an issue but only if your using the live software, i believe the idea would be to get the OS running with the hardware (which is a huge take in its self perhaps impossible) then Native code to allow execution ofwhatever we want, then the modding can start bypassing live intigration, remember android has heavy ties with google which has been largely stiripped out.
all im saying is dont knock it just yet, the xbox and xbox360 has been "tweeked" to work, fair enough zune HD wasnt but that had little intrest. getting drivers will be the biggest issue

you speak english i assume, many many people on here do not speak it as their first language, that makes it tricky to search for things, try searching for something in google thats french, you should have had basic french at school but i bet you'll not find things so easy then
Just because you know something and find it easy doesnt mean others do too, the world does not revolve around English and your abilities.
All im saying is we shouldnt shout at new people, its rude, you are replying anyway so why not make it constructive by either giving the answer or showing them where to find it, THEN politely slap their wrists and correct them on the error of their ways
What Wiki says....
Wiki says, " Windows Phone 7 was thought to have been unofficially ported to the HD2, but it was later demonstrated as easy to fake with the use of a Remote Terminal connection. [9]"
What the heck?? "If it walks like a duck......"
Search for Wiki HD2. Interesting.

[SUGGESTION] ROM Reviews, Comparisons, Rankings,

With the dozens of ROMS out there for our device, it would be nice and helpful if a thread was made where people could post an in-depth comparison between these roms and possibly even a ranking system in terms of downloads, review score, user feedback etc. Another possibility is a guide that would help them choose the best ROM for them.
I've been on my custom rom ever since but that decision came after hours and hours of research and reading the threads of the other ROM chefs and visiting other websites as well. It would be really helpful to the newer members who would like to modify their phones to have a dedicated review thread/area where everything is there to read.
I know this sounds lazy but it would save hundreds of research hours and make choosing the right rom suited for each individual faster and easier.
I could do it if I had the proper experience and knowledge, but sadly, I am but a noob.
I'm just throwing ideas around and see if this is a good idea. Anyone interested in this? The community will be in gratitude if this becomes a reality
i think i posted in the wrong subforum? uhmm... sorry mods. Please move if inappropriate.
I don't think this is such a good idea, to be honest
First, it might be cause for some rather immature users to go about saying this or that is the best or this is better than that in so and so ROM etc. It's hard to find people who can give good reviews because no matter what, there's always that bias and sense of loyalty. Even comparative reviews may be hard to come by because I don't think a lot of people use a particular ROM for a long enough period of time before jumping to try another one (or they just try one, and stick to that one for whatever reason..be it because they're satisfied already, or aren't the type to want to try everything out) then once they settle on one they like, they can't really say much in terms of comparison about others they've tried before since ROMs constantly get updated. Like I may have stopped using a particular ROM because of bugs and such and move on to something else but who knows, those bugs could've been addressed already by then etc.
The thing of it is, someone will always have a different user experience from someone else. And it really depends on the person's usage of the phone. And it's really upto the user to do his/her own research. Because if we just have a thread where people will just look for whatever has the most reviews then they're just gonna jump right in to flash it perhaps without further in depth reading.. We already have a thread which is a constantly updated index of the ROMs already available. People can just start off from there, check out whatever seems appealing based on the description and jump to that thread for some further reading or ask their questions there. Opening up a thread like this might further fragment support around here. People might start asking questions on that thread, submit their complaints, ask for help, report problems etc. Even if you tell people to not do those things in that thread..well not everyone likes reading through all of the first post.
And unfortunately, not everyone is accustomed to use the ever helpful search box so they end up posting questions that already have been answered over and over again. And instead of checking out the step by step guides, they have people walk them through the process. Some people are so in a hurry to jump into custom ROMs that they end up making mistakes and bricking their phone. Some..how you say..rude users even go so far as to blame the ROM maker or the beta testers for not doing a good job because they have this or that freak bug they happen to get.
Not that I'm against helping people, especially newbies (I'm a helper on Doc's thread) but I think it would be a benefit to people especially new users to do some of their own research and discover things on their own. The respective threads of the ROMs provide more than enough information, reviews, complaints, help, guides etc.
People won't ever learn if they're spoon fed information and such all the time. I'm all for trying to make the whole experience easier for any kind of user, but I'm also all for people to do some of their own work and learn on their own. It's not just a matter of trying to save people time, it's a matter of letting people get the best user experience for them. It's not a matter of lessening the amount of people asking for help, but it's a matter of wanting them to learn.
Sometimes saving people time and effort isn't the best idea if it just gives them problems later they can't figure out on their own.
Sorry for the lengthy reply. Just my 100 pesos. Lol.
I don't mean any offense or whatever to anyone, okay? I love helping people when I have time and I just think helping people help themselves is the best. You know like..give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime..that kinda stuff.
I hope my post came off as logical and with all due respect.
Peace~

Fair enough. Well said kabayan! Initially, i thought that this was a good idea. Looking at things now, it's not so attractive after all. haha. Salamat!
MODS: Kindly requesting the closure and deletion of this thread please. Thanks!
@anoneemooz,
Just a hypothetical question, if it happens that Samsung release a froyo rom (2.2 only) and it comes with your native language locale with Swype as well would you still be in the latest rom, or would you stick to the rom with those features?
Not trying to flame, but would like an honest opinion about this.

Not a flame at all haha!
Well, I'm pretty used to everything being in English and I'd prefer it actually. It's a major language in the Philippines. It's my first language too so I wouldn't switch. Maybe I'd install the Swype with Filipino, but I might rarely use it since I usually stick to English or Chinese except for the occasional Filipino words which I can just type out if need be.
As for the phone's locale..I'm happy with United States or France so I'd stick to custom ROMs probably for forever. 2.2.1 ROMs have been awesome and knowing our awesome devs around here...2.3 will be even better~

As English language is a working language in India, most of the users would prefer a phone with English as default. There would be some who use Hindi also. But they wouldn't miss Hindi on their phone.
