I need some help/advice here. My HTC HD suddenly stopped responding to touch screen taps
I did soft-reset several times and screen keeps giving me a hard time. Sometimes it responds, sometimes - not. Finally I decided to give it a hard reset.
Now I'm completely stuck. It boots up to the moment where you have to tap on screen to continue initial setup process. Since screen does not respond - I cannot go any further.
What should I do now ? I'm in USA and bought this phone brand new almost a year ago. It worked fine till now.

ive upgraded my hermes with official O2 hermes rom a month ago. 2 days ago i upgraded with black satin normal edition. my phone worked 2 days normally but today touch screen has no reaction when i touch it.
firstly i wasnt panic because i tought it can be a software problem then i did hard reset. but still no reaction on my touch screen. i was starting to be panic. then i upgraded with O2 official rom again. unfortunately touch screen is still same. now my panic mode is active.
first, i mean time that i realized first about touch screen, all button was working fine, except touch screen
need some advice!!!

When you flashed the other ROMS did you bypass the screen alignment screen somehow? Or is that where it is stuck?

yes when i pushed power buttons it passes boot scren and says "tap the screen to set up your windows mobile based device" because of the screen i cant touch it. so nothing more

I had a similar problem, it turned out however to be an issue with the digitizer for the touch screen and it was simply a coincidence I was flashing roms.
I did the trick of sliding a credit card between the screen and the frame and cleared out some gunk - then it worked perfectly.
I just had the same thing happen lol.. company bought me a new one and cingular sent me a broken refurb so now they are sending another

can you give some details what have you done. did you open your ppc. because i live in turkey and i bought mt ppc form germany. so ive no garanty here. to fix it i need to send it to germany. it means at least 1,5 month. so ive to do it myself or someoneelse here
any other advice?
i just had the same problem after upgrading my new 8525 to wm6 then flashed again to shaps 3.54 then 3.60 and then back to wm6 because it had so many bugs. then screen stopped working. i took out battery/sim card for 10 minutes as well as using a receipt to clean out the screen (under the case) and worked just fine for 30 minutes. now the screen is dead again. YAY. got a 300$ piece of ****.
I have this touch hd from 2 month and everything was ok till 2 weeks ago when the screen start to give me problemes. When i was pressing something in screen, the cel respnd me completely other thing.
I have make a reset than flashed a new rom, nothing. Tested with mymobiles and everything is ok in PC screen. Now the touch is completely dead, the screen is Ok but when I press nothing hapens.
So any advise, is a problem of digitalizer or there is something more?

sent for repair, seems to be a common issue.... i had the same issue, they had to change the screen.
This morning, my touch screen suddenly stopped working. Hardware keys are still working but device is not responding when the screen is touched. Already tried a hard reset but no success, now I am stuck at the align display screen. Also can no longer get to the bootmenu, so can't reflash my device! Any suggestions on what's wrong or how this can be fixed? Thanks for any help!!!!

Didn't you see any spots (like oil spots on the water) to the touch screen ?
I had the same problem .I replaced the touch screen and the phone is working again .
No, nothing, was working fine at night, when i woke up just randomly stopped working. The display is not cracked or anything, so wondering whether a screen replacement will do the trick? ALso strange that I can no longer get to the bootscreen to enter HardSPL...
Had the same problem, the issue (with mine anyhow) was the digitizer, which is an overlay that sits on top of the actual LCD screen to give it touch capability....

I had a similar problem,
To get past the Align screen I had to apply pressure to the top of the screen opposite side of front facing camera - then use the screen as normal
I reflashed the original rom (manually getting to bootloader) - it worked for a bit but ended up sending is back to 02 for repair.
All they did apparently, was to reflash the ROM again and its been working since.
Had the same problem a couple of times a while ago, when i was trying out WM6.5.
All buttons worked but not the touch screen. Never really found out exactly what the problem was, but the first time I managed to get it working again by resetting the alignment:
While gps button pressed (under green button), press center D-pad button this will bring you to alignment screen.
The other time the "alignment trick" didn't work, but i got it working again, after flashing the original ROM couple of times. (And doing hard reset between each time)

You say you can't get to the boot menu, do you run hard-SPL?
most likely its an hardware issue - had this one too, of course out of nowhere!
flash with original rom and if you cannot align screen (as the hardware seems to be broken) send it in for repair. it will be under guarantee, if screen isnt broken.
I had similar problem, I passed the alignment but i had a huge offset in the touch.
I replaced the touch screen and it solved the problem.
You can find it in ebay for 1 US $.

Thanks for all the help guys!!! I do run hard-SPL and have flashed many ROMS - just don't know why it won't enter the bootscreen anymore when I reset the device and press the camera button. Did manage to upload original ROM again by using activesync, now trying to restore original hard-SPL so I can send off the device for repair.
Hi, i had also the same problem, i find a threat in the internet... try to push the upper corners on the device with your fingers and then tab on the screen to see if the problem solved.
I had the same issue.
Its more than likely your digitizer. I tried flashing 100 different roms but always stuck at the align screen stage.
I actually have the barely used digitizer if anyone wants it (for a few dollars of course hehe) My mainboard died a couple of weeks after i installed the digitizer.
needless to say i moved away from the ****ty build quality of HTC to the MUCH better build quality of the iPhone.
About a week ago I suddenly started having some issues with the touch response on my HD2, but only when doing certain tasks. Whenever I try to shut down the phone, I press the power button and then the menu pops up giving me a few different options, but the screen is completely unresponsive to anything I touch. Also, the slide to unlock doesn't operate about half the time, so I'm constantly hitting the lock button & trying again. I haven't had any issues with touch while doing any other tasks. I've also tried several different ROMs, including going back to the stock ROM. I've read about several devices with bad digitizers, but this seems to be more specific than that. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
My brother's phone had the exact same issue. We both got our HD2's on the same day in May as part of the Buy One Get One Free deal. Since then, he has had numerous freezing issues with his phone. My phone on the other hand, seldomly suffered from those issues. A week or so ago he told me that he couldn't unlock his phone sometimes, and that he had to keep cycling the screen on and off to finally make the screen respond to touch input. So, after playing with it for a few minutes I noticed the screen became completely unresponsive when attempting to power off the phone. After messing with it for a while, the screen would not respond on any screen at all. So, I called T-Mobile today, and within 5 minutes they offered to send out a Warranty Replacement. Absolutely no hassle at all.

so depressed ... it is very nice device to have but a screen problem make it realy bad .....
My LG Optimus 7 touchscreen stopped to response with no reason. Nothing was installed or damaged - one minute I called and after turn off and on it stopped to respond. Well - not really stopped but respond in strange way not allowing me to unlock (swipe) lock screen:

(I took this video after Factory Reset which did not help - that's why it's in German)
And even if I reboot it, no buttons tapping is working, nothing - only this strange unlock screen which moves really slowly and not allowing to unlock.
I ordered and replaced digitiser (dismounted all telephone myself) and this did not help at all.
But I realised yesterday that if I leave my LG with screen open for 2-3 minutes IT STARTS WORKING!! It reacts on touch as it was before! No idea why and how. Unfortunately it goes into unresponsive mode after turning screen off and on, and I have to wait again. So it's useless...
I tried to google and I found few other people experiencing the same issue with different telephones (or tablets). Does it mean it's hardware issue? Is there any point to downgrage ROM - at the moment it's 7.10.8862.144??

(last one of tablet: I have been using the Twist for 4 days and the device is great, only the touch screen seems to be delayed on start up, sometimes it can take up to 10 minutes before it starts working)
