I have searched over the internet for my predicament but found no information, I believe this forum can help because there are a lot of highly technical people here.
This is what i wanted:
To make the SMS icon of SPB Mobile Shell linked to Vito SMS-Chat. Both programs are really great and it would really be far out to have them integrated.

Not too difficult

If it's in the 'Oganizer, Internet, Multimedia,...' menus, then you gan open the SPB Mobile Shell settings (main page - 'Settings > Spb Mobile Shell' ) and move along to the 'Advanced' tab on the bottom, choose 'Menu' and then find the icon name in the lists - if you tap and hold, you can choose to 'Edit' the link and change the path to that of your choice!
or
follow the instructions to find the 'Advanced' tab - choose a menu where you would like to have the link to your sms (remember, you can always pin this to the main screen for ease of use!!), tap and hold on the menu title and choose 'Add > Link' add a link to your choice of app, then tap and hold to edit and change the icon! You could then untick the standard SMS choice to save confusion!
Hope that doesn't sound too conveluted - only takes a few seconds to do!
Bird
Thanks

Thank you. I'll try this and give you feedback after.

Thanks Bird! It was really easy once you know "how to" but with regards to the NOW screen of SPB Mobile Shell, is there anyway to change the link of the 3 icons (email, SMS, Calls)???
Hope you can help me with this one. Thanks
Change the now screen!?
Not through the general options, BUT ...
Try this forum over at Spb Software - looks like custom layouts that you can download - don't worry about the colours - they can be overridden with the 'Theme' tab in mobile shell options (the same place you found the Advanced > Menu options)

Good luck, and let me know how you get on!
Also looks like there is an XDA-Developers member called pcarvalho who likes to mod Mobile Shell, go see his sig and send him a request - http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=771500
Really Good Info
Bird,
Once again Thanks! I'll check out this forum and see what i can dig up.
Kudos,

Thanks mekaniko!
As the post says - THANKS MEKANICO!!
You got my interest going with the idea of modding Mobile Shell, and so, while looking around on the forum I put up a link to, I found out how to put a 'Games' icon in place of 'My Menu' WoooHooo - now my mobile shell is perfectly how I want it.
Bird
Thanks to you too!
Bird,
Thanks to you too!
If not for you I won't have known of simple tweaks for Mobile Shell. But anyway I'm still digging up at SPB Club Forum, a lot of them wanted the same thing I do, so I believe in no time someone gets to do it.
I think tweaking those 3 icons in the Now screen would take some modification of the registry, just can't determine where to start.
Hope I'll be successful

Registry Editor
Found a great reg editor that installs on the PC, but is for the PPC - I'll post a link to the site later (at work now)! It has a LOT of features and beats any that you would need to install on the device.
I still use PHM RegEdit on my XDA, but I prefer to use this when I can!
(strangely enough - it was while finding out how to put a Games menu into SPB Menu [ths thread] that lead to me finding the editor )

Bump. It would be great to know how to link the messaging folder (middle icon on the today screen) to SMS Chat.

Go look on the forums that I mentioned before in a previous post!
any thing new found by you genius?
I have tried on, but failed...
On reading the HTC User Manual (on their site) for the 6.5 ROM it says on page 204 that under 'Settings' > 'Personal' there should be icons for 'Owner Information' and 'Voice Commander', as well as 'Buttons', 'Input' and 'Phone'.
I only have the 'Buttons', 'Input' and 'Phone' icons, despite a Hard Reset.
Do other users have all 5 icons, or is this lack of 'Owner Information' and 'Voice Commander' icons (and therefore the programs themselves) a general problem?
somthing 6.5 missed out on i think!!
if you diable touchflo (htc sense) in the today settings, and tick owner info, and confirm. then it will appear in home screen, and than you can type your owner information
...or change
HKLM\\ControlPanel\Owner\Hide
1--->0
Thanks to both of you, that's Sorted out my Owner Information.
Is there a similar fix for the missing Voice Commander?
Just as well I didn't listen to HTC Support who said it was faulty and should be returned for repair as I should see both icons/programs in the Personal folder!
I had a thought the other day that I would like to be able to choose from multiple search engines in the search bar on the Sense Internet tab.
For example, in the search bar, to have a drop down that allowed you to select Google, Wikipedia or IMDB etc and then when you type in your search string and click the search icon, it uses the selected search engine?
Would also be nice if, similar to the search bar in Opera, we could have images (favicon?) indicating which search engine is currently chosen. Such as the G of the Google logo, or W for Wikipedia etc...
Does anyone know if this is possible or have the skills to develop this?
Cheers,
Graeme
Anyone???
So I've searched around a bit but I never found an answer to my problem - all my websites were coming up as the Desktop version except for my Google searches which kept being displayed in the awful mobile version.
Then it hit me - it's just that the search engine shortcut bar on Opera's top right is configured to search the mobile Google site.
In order to change this:
1. click on the drop-down arrow in the search bar
2. manage search engines
3. hold down on any search engine other than Google (Opera developers have made this entry unchangeable.)
4. Edit - change the Title to "Google" or whatever else you'd prefer AND change the address to " http://www.google.com/search?q=" without the quotes.
5. Save
You will now have a more complete Desktop browsing experience.
Hope this helps
I have 3 sections in the "Phone > Settings > Advanced" that I am trying to disable, so when you touch them nothing happens, they originally opened up a new section, but I uninstalled the application related to these sections, now it gives a popup error message, so I want these sections to no longer respond to touch.
I read online and tried these 2 in the XML with no luck;
android:shouldDisableView="True"
android:clickable="true"
I'm not sure if android:focusable="false" is of any help...
The code tags seems to mash everything together on XDA, so I pasted the code on dpaste.com
I've attached a screen shot showing this "Advanced" section and the 3 sections I am trying to disable so nothing happens when I touch them;
"OnePlus Notifications is disabled"
"User experience program is disabled"
"System stability program is disabled"
res/xml/op_other_settings.xml seems to be related to the "Advanced" section;
http://dpaste.com/3DRVXR4#wrap
res/layout/op_receive_notifications.xml seems to be related to the "OnePlus Notifications" section;
http://dpaste.com/0J0JP7X#wrap
res/layout/op_user_experience.xml seems to be related to the "User experience program"
http://dpaste.com/37WEGCN#wrap
res/layout/op_system_stability.xml seems to be related to the "System stability program"
http://dpaste.com/2TG6E4E#wrap
I've been assuming for now, that in these 3 res/layout xml files I needed to add in something so these sections get disabled?
P.S. This is the last thing I've tried that does nothing; (with android:clickable="true" added in 3 times)
res/layout/op_receive_notifications.xml
http://dpaste.com/1MAHAT9#wrap
P.S. Don't need any replies, the orginal problem I was having was related to WebView, so I was looking at something I was doing as a solution around this, of course no one is going to understand this just by this reply, bottom line, I found a solution to this, so it's all good!
