Lost: Settings application - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Themes and Apps

I unlocked the settings application, wanting to move it to a different location. After removing it, i attempted to add it back and it is not among the All Programs list. How do I get it back?

Removing obselete Today entries

I have an obselete today program entry that is left over from an old program, does anyone know how to remove it. I cannot remove it from the list of programs displayed in Today by taking out the tick from the menu list as when I try to remove the tick I get a message saying "start menu - unable to move that item"
Any ideas please?

Is the program uninstalled?
Did you just delete parts of it?
I am wondering if it will not untick because part of it is running in the background.
You might try re-installing it and then uninstalling.
You could also try something like Sktools to examine running processes and stop any related ones.

The entry is from a previous version of Copilot. When the update removed the old version it left the old entry in the Today list along with another entry for the new version. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling without success.
Will SKtools give me the opportunity of getting rid of it permanantly or will it come back after a soft reset?

You could also try Today Plugin Uninstaller. Link: http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=22997

Sherpas's answer might work?
I suspect then, that it refuses to untick because it is either a broken link or it is now pointing to the new version that is ticked or running.
If you have all you need to re-install co pilot then an uninstall would likely remove the extra entry and if not at least I think it may allow you to untick it.
EDIT: Re sktools. I suggested that because it lets you shut down running processes. I thought perhaps it would not untick if it was`active. If you have sktools it would be worth trying. If not then as it's not a freeware application it might not be the first thing to try. (Though it does do a lot of very handy clear-out functions as well.) An unticked item as a today plugin would not be re-ticked by soft reset.

Dumb question- but maybe?
Forgive me if this seems dumb, but do you mean the TODAY screen or the START menu? (ie when you tap the start icon in the corner?)
The programs listed in the Start Menu are contolled by the control panel MENUS (Start->Settings->Personal->Menus)
The TODAY plug-ins are controlled by the TODAY control Panel (Start->Settings->Personal->Today)
I think this is the START MENU you're referring to.
The programs listed in the Menus list are the programs and shortcuts listed in the /Windows/Start Menu and Windows/Start Menu/Programs folders.
If a program deliberately installs a shortcut into the Windows/Start Menu folder, and places another in the Start Menu/Programs folder, you "can't move that item".
Use File explorer, go to My Device/Windows/Start Menu and delete whatever you don't want from there.
If it is actually items in the Today screen, then I'm at a loss.
I wondered about that but the OP refers to tick boxes that I took to mean the today plugins options.
Still he can let us know.
Mike
Nanastas you are a star !!
I manged to delete it via file explorer/windows/start menu.
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and help
Ahhh...so it was a "Start Menu" item! Hmmm...ok!

Touch Commander totally messed up my phone

I installed Touch Commander, as the adverts looked promising, but I did not like it at all and uninstalled it immediately. Unfortuntely it has changed the way my Start menu looks, now the list is longer and the program names are smaller, also the list of the last used programs has disappeared completely. This is a nasty little program which also left a hand icon in my windows settings, which, when i click it gives me an error message. Could anyone please help me get the original start menu back? I couldn't find anything in Settings, it must have modified a registry setting.
to enable thr large start menu setings/system/touchflo/ then check large start menu. as for the hand i have no idea
Thanks mate, that did the trick, it also disabled other things but I managed to restore them. The hand icon in the settings doesn't bother me too much.

Start Screen

can we reorganize the icons on the start screen? I have removed the ones I don't want but I would like to put the ones that I have added and use more to the top.
Can't sort those unfortunately. You'll just have to add them into the slots where you want them. That's where they'll stay until you manually remove/add them elsewhere.
That has to be the dumbest thing I ever heard. I don't mean you
I guess the things you thing are so simple end up being a pain or no one thought of them. I bet even if I can delete Home I won't be able to re-add it later because it doesn't show up in the all programs list
You can rename then, e.g. insert a number in front of it to display them from 1 - 9.
Go to File Explorer, My Device, Windows, Start Menu... you then will see your preferred/selected items. Just add number "1" & "2" in front of them. Close and you will see them display in order afterwards
hmm mine doesn't look like that. I don't have preferred or selected items. Just programs and settings folders and if they were displayed in order like that you would think they would be in alphabetical order now which they are not.
You can sort it in the reg. with TotalCommander
HKLM/Software/HTC/Manila/ProgramLauncher.
Rename the numbers of the Folders
after that you have to restart your phone.
tyvm. So simple when you know where to look.

Disable Settings / System icons

Hi,
As part of my customization process, I would like to disable some icons from the Setting menu's of WM6.5 (not TouchFlo).
I managed to remove a lot of icons through the registry settings in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Speech, by moving them to a non-existing group (Group=3). This works fine.
However, some of the icons in Settings/System do not appear below this registry key, such as External GPS, Encryption, Remove programs... Is there a way to remove these as well?
Alternatively, removing the entire Settings menu would also be fine. My first approach, deleting the Settings folder from \Windows\StartMenu causes the entire Start Menu to appear empty!
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
UPDATE: I managed to remove the Encryption icon by ADDING an 'Encryption' key to the ControlPanel part of the registry. Other icons I haven't so far. I suppose the key lies in correct names.
How can I obtain the names for:
Managed Programs
External GPS
Error reports
Memory
Info
Country Settings
Regional Settings
Microsoft My PHone
Remove programs
Screen
Task Manager
Connection settings
??
Setting HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo:HideSettings to 1 hides the Settings folder from the Start Menu. That fixes my problem for now!
I rather choose to "hide" my icons.
You can do this by changing the registry like this:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\Encryption]
"Group"=dword:00000002
"Hide"=dword:00000001
This will hide the Encrption icon in the Settings panel. I use this on the Rhodium, Blackstone, Diamond etc. but it should also work on the HD2 I guess
mccune,
The "hide" could be done for entries that are present in HKLM\ControlPanel like Encryption. For those entries that DO NOT EXIST in ControlPanel but whose icons appear in Settings like "Microsoft My Phone", do you have any idea how to suppress them?
Thanks for your assistance.
Noticed there are also some numbers in that registry key. Guess you'll have to trial and error a little to see what number corresponds to what icon.
I'm still looking for a way to hide the "Managed Programs" icon ;-)
Perhaps this program can help you out.....either hide the icons or put them away in a folder......
This program only applies to WM6.5 and also just to the Start Menu. It's fairly easy to remove icons from the Start Menu, just delete the LNK file in \Windows\Start Menu\
The discussion was about the icons in Settings. Most of these files are CPL files.
mccune,
It's exactly that! The file underlying that icon is Windows\MyPhoneLauncher.cpl for the application "Microsoft My Phone". I tried a number of ways to rename the file, rename the extension CPL in CPL2, move the file to other folder, even delete the file in order to remove it from Settings/System but always failed.
The file appears protected as part of the ROM. This is the 2nd day I'm after this problem and I still see no light...
(I tried to use the tool JWMDIconChanger but it doesn't work. Thanks anyway.)

Does anyone know the name of the .cpl file, or the name of the registry key in \HKey_Local_Machine\ControlPanel\, for "Managed Programs"?
I looked, but can't find anything that even remotely looks like "Managed Programs".

Programs List/Shortcuts

Hello all,
I would first like to thank all the developers and people willing to try new stuff. Without all your hard work and efforts none of us would have the phone we actually wanted with all the stuff we actually wanted.
I have a couple of questions;
1) I have been searching for a program/setting/cab that would allow the "Programs" (shortcut) screen to have four rows. Does this exist? I know there are programs that will allow the, "Start" screen to display 4-5 rows but I am looking for one to allow the "Programs" screen.
2) Is there a specific location to install programs that will allow you to shortcut them on the "Programs" screen? I have tried numerous places such as, on device in the programs folder, app folder, on the sd card in similar folders. Done the soft resets afterwords but I have not been able to create the shortcuts for IM+ and PasswordWallet.
Thanks,
Scott

1) Cab exists in apps forum. Quick search should find it.
2) Create shortcut to your desired app, i.e. the .exe file and place shortcut in \windows\start menu\programs
SK Shortcut manager is a great app for managing your shortcuts
Thanks
It never ceases to amaze me how easy things are when you have knowledge, especially shared knowledge.
I'll have to try the SK manager, but the other way worked like a charm.
