Request: Rom - G1 General

Sorry that this post won't be very thorough, I made a decently structured post but then my browser crashed and I lost it :|
Lol so my main point is that a lot of people have a g1, and I think the best rom/firmware for it was RC.29.
1.5 really slowed the phone down and made the boot time very long.
And 1.6....eh.[developer wise though, YES!]
I would really like to see a developer make a custom rom for the g1 that is very basic I don't need a rotating screen that 1.5 brought, and at most for an on screen keyboard I'd only like to see the t9 keypad and even that I don't care much for, my g1's hardware QWERY is a beautiful thing.
But yea a very basic rom with very minimal options/features so the g1 runs quick, clean, and mean developed by someone who knows how to make the g1 FAST!
I hope you can get the just of this, I understand someone is going to say this unless I announce it, why don't I stay at rc.29 if I like it so much? Because I like my apps working more.
So thank you for reading this, and hopefully this post gains a lot of ground and want so a developer could make this happen
Besides I would think that stripping features from a g1 wouldn't be too hard
[Lastly that was in my other post, why do we still need a video recorder app in the drawer when its so easy to switch to from the camera? ]

No one else is with me on this? Lol sorry I guess if you feel differently.
It's just that I know in an emergency if I needed to copy down a license plate number or make a call I know my g1 would lag so bad and not open up core apps like messaging or the dialer on time.

Eh I did notice that RC29 did run alot smoother because I had to unroot and return my phone. But I think it's a step backwards. Most people probably have forgotten what it was like and have moved on. Sorry bro.

no offense... but i ran rc29 for about well about week ago it was not any smother infact it was slower and sucked my battery. i dont use screen ration you can disable it in spare parts and always use the hard keyboard and never have any widgets...although im thinking of messing with some (getting bored) but yeah dude run cm stables and over clock and bit ( like 348 to 568) and ur g1 will run smooth as butter. dont mess with swap and ect because i think it more trouble than its worth on cupcake (cough*)

Yea I am on the Cyan train, it seems that every other experimental build he puts out messes with my most needed app so I'm flashing all around. And it's ok no offense taken but I genuinely thing a stock phone at rc29 is super fast, I have had this experience and so has some of my other Android buddies on other forums.

i was thinking about this you would like use a ota rc29 right but have roted goodness right? things like apps to sd and and also having a lot of apps on phone can slow it down. and idk when i was using rc 29 becase i wanted to see if there really was any improvement and i was having to send the phone becase the mic went out. i had alot of forecloses in the stock messaging app i cant think of thing that would be running in the back ground on cup (that you cant disable or not use) that would slow it down. but you are right the original over clocked jf 1.5 was really slow at least when i tested it with neocore got repeatably worse frame rates. but with cm 1.5 builds with over clock to the same speed i got faster up frame rates and ran rc 29 for the heck of it and got the same as did on jf 1.5.

As a friendly gesture, tomorrow or the next I am going to load up the dreaming.nbh file in Bootloader and play around with the stock apps and I will get back to you with friendly results.
And I am going to try out Handcent before 1.5
And Twidroid.
My main frustration is just that if someone rear ends me and try's to run via driving I'd love to be able to snap a photo ASAP or break out the messaging app and write down the plate number, my phone lags so much [in my mind at least] I feel I'd rather have a very dimmed down Rom that can support apps on the 1.5/6 firmware.
Well see though :]
I know a lot of mods can fix my problems and some slow them down, but it leans more so on the class of the sd card really.

i hope to see what your results are. im really going to start looking into raw performance. when ever i can get some free time.

I'm back on rc.29 and I really like it, the only draw back to this is that apps I could pull up on 1.5 won't pull up now.
Like I can't pull up twidorids legacy edition thats >1.5
Or handcent
or chomp.
And it's kind of strange :/
I guess I should of prepared better and downloaded them before hand so they'd be in my history. [and no not even clicking view more apps from twidorid pulls up the legacy]
But the phonebook replacement app is there and it works very well.
Just over all a clean UI I love it.
The notifiation bar is solid, and personally it feels faster than an overclockecd cyan build to me.
Swiping between screens, pulling down notifications, the app drawer, opening and closing the screen.
And overall it's just so benificial.
When I'm in the market and I slide my phone open to type then go ahead and close it and search or search while open then close it it doesn't do that stupid **** that 1.5 does where it sets you back one action.
For example lets say I put in handsent.
That's wrong, nothing should pull up.
So ok go back, open the keyboard type in handcent and handcent pulls up, or cool.
Close the phone and it goes back to my results for handsent.
HOW LAME!
I haven't gotten the browser to auto refresh yet due to the lack of internal memory and cache issues, mind you I only have stock apps, but I've navigated between the market and messaging/texts which is already more then impressive compared to lock 2.0 almost clearing the cache and refreshing anything when used.
I love r.c. 29 and so should you, that's just the most bottom, factual, content buyer/consumer happiness attitude there is about the g1.
It's time a dev makes a rc.29 rom that can run 1.5/1.6 apps without adding fancy animation, onscreen keyboards and all that junk.
I might be interested in updating to rc.33 but I have never had luck finding that .zip file so if anyone wants to help out post it here please.
Going to see how well my battery does, it normally never last me more then 6 hours, usually craps at at 4 hours :/
But we shall see!

I tried to upgrade to stock rc.33 but the .zip was too small and failed to instal properly, so I used another .zip and apparently it was a JF rom for 1.5
It loaded fine, installed the radio, then did a few quirky things.
Kinda disappointing that I couldn't get to rc.33 but that's common for me lol.

GB Impressions

Ok, aside from the bootloop issue upon install, I have to say so far, not bad. The blur aspect is definitely better, however I dont care for it any more now than I did before. The color scheme is quite visually appealing. Very much like lucid steel theme for fission. I would prefer the scheme from the fission gb theme but this is absolutely an improvement over the stock froyo appearance.
Overall system speed seems to be somewhat improved, and there is a big issue w/ launcher pro which sucks. with launcher pro there is some heavy lag in transitions and the general feel of the phone is kind of clunky and choppy. Without launcherpro, phone tends to run quite smooth. no status bar controls kinda sucks, and the reduced screen density w/o launcher pro is also kind of a downer, but overall im not going to complain. Its definitely progress.
One big downside I noticed after 2 days is battery life is very hit or miss. On fission 2.6.1, i was making it easily 1.5-2 days on a single charge. Yesterday I made it home with 40% left, today I was at 10% when i left work. I can attribute this heavily to Blur, but this is definatley somethign that a new fission or UD build should fix
I have to say that since the devs seemed to have abandoned the Fission project, I haven't looked back since upgrading to GB Blur. it's snappy and attractive and while it still has alot of the blur bloat i hate, root + ti backup makes things a little more manageable.
so far, i've managed to remove teh global unplug, task manager, the blur text messenger, backup asssistant and city id. my battery life is probably slightly better than it was on fission, depending on what i'm doing (games seem to destroy it).
we still have to recognize that this IS a leaked version and there are still some misses with the build. data services randomly failing, inability to make calls/send texts and the weird keyboard backlight issue. other than that, i've been pretty pleased.
I just upgraded yesterday and I am very happy with it

Seems he indicated he was looking at it, but made no promises of an updated ROM on teamdefuse's website, twitter, or this forum...
Did you see something else where he said he was specifically working on GB Fission?
I think GB for the D2 makes some major improvements, but I can't give up liberty for it. Just have to wait and see if Liberty GB comes out.

yeah i thought that topic came up when the sdk was made available, but nothing ever really came to light. i feel like after p3droid's recent tweets/posts, etc., the landscape has been drying up.
I got the impression from what p3 said that the devs were under some fire as google seems to be having second thoughts about open source, as well as unpaid tethering raising some eyebrows with teh carriers, which is understandable.
Hopefully once things get ironed out we'll see some ovens refire and some cool stuff gettin rolled out.
I'm still kind of split and definitely agree that gaming on gb is a battery killer in a huge way. Overall battery life is good, however i've had a few days where it just sucked down. Ive been off charge since 6am, 12 hours later with minimal-moderate useage i'm at 70%, however there have been days where I have used the phone way less and been getting charge warnings by 2pm.
Hopefully the official release will solve the rest of these issues.
All I can say is that I hope some custom ROMs are available for Droid 2 Gingerbread soon, because what I have now is buggy to the point of being frustrating. Besides being a memory hog, I sometimes lose my data connection for no apparent reason and my keyboard backlight doesn't always work. Also, even when I do have a data connection, my phone has problems loading web pages much of the time.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that the screen sometimes randomly shuts off without warning.
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA App
if you have an issue with the screen randomly shutting off try unchecked the in pocket detection setting. I found this was way to sensitive and would consistently shut my screen off in dimly lit areas.
yeah, battery life has become sketchy, like one day i'll make it through the day with 60% left with moderate useage, similar useage next day i'll be charging by noon. USB reboots have reared their ugly head in the last 48 hours to the point where im charging off of the wall outlet and seriously considering sbfing back to fission 2.6.1
To this point I haven't had any major problems whatsoever ...
Only thing is browser sometimes crashes ...batt life is amazing!
9hr shift on work barely drops to 70% with wifi always turned on moderate txt n web

SIgh WTF getting whitescreen ....cant get back to CWMR, tried every thing....wtf ..... is this bootlooping? NO MATTER WHAT I do can not get back into recovery.
I have a trick to acces any files but most of them seem corrupted? Im only guesing as there is now a "?" by the file icon.
I tried loading bootsrap recovery
phone appeared bricked. rebooted and again cannot get into recovery.
I laready had 2.3 rom ...did I miss something? IM usually pretty good on this stuff. Modded my hd2 and rooted my g2x no issues....what dee hell is dis sheot
(mods move if I am posting in wrong section)
SOB me having bad day...lol...just realised this is the dev thread not general...I suck .....POINTS!!!!!
EDIT:
AH HA!!!! I was able to get to CWMR by an interesting method! I had previusly DL mini task manager(took it off the market for some reason) and thats THE ONLY ap that was working!
so anyways in the info bar at top it was showing mini task coming up .... Somehow it was acting as a backup! (has any one else experienced this?) so I long tapped on bootstrap rec icon and voila! it asked if I wanted to go into bootstrap and of course I did and .....yes!!! thank you cwm i got to the recovery green screen!!
FIrst I tried Tpro recovery....would not work....tried loading bootstrapzip....nothing...so....I figure since all my shizzle is backed up through my google act I did a factory reset, wipe data, and redid the new GB hack.
VOILA! it loaded ! no bootloop! just had to re-register phone and accounts!
so I leave you with this narcissistic picture of myself....

Hey everyone,
I've been running GB and ZS for about a week now. The one thing that I noticed was that there isn't anywhere where you can turn off mobile data? Maybe I'm blind, but it's not in wireless and networks? Any ideas? If not, oh well. I still think I found something in GB that's keeping me from going back to 2.2. It's just as stable as 2.2 only faster! Anyways, cheers all!

What I feel about Arc after 2 weeks use

I am coming from almost 1 year use of X10a and even tried Galaxy SII after a week with Arc and sold SII mainly because I hated AMOLED colors and Samsung design and UI.
When I first got Misty Silver Arc (flashed LT15a) into my hands I was excited as the phone looked simply stunning. Felt great in hand.

Now, after two weeks of use I have very mixed feeling and I am already trying to look for what is out there that looks good and performs like GSII. Atrix? Not sure!!
Pros:
1. Screen
2. Looks (design) & Feel.
3. Gingerbread
4. SE UI
5. Camera
Cons:
1. Phone starts to lag once you install some widgets, and install basic apps. I am almost seeing very minimal gain from my X10 in performance once I install my standard apps/widgets.
2. Camera button is a joke. It's almost impossible to use without shaking the phone too much.
3. Too long. They could have tried and eliminated all that black area that has Sony Ericsson Logo.
4. The battery cover starts to feel squeaky in the middle area towards the side that has volume rockers. I had to put small tape inside to stop that feeling.
I might have to root and remove some pre-installed crap and see how the phone performs. Else, I am seriously thinking to sell the phone and maybe wait for something or go back to SGII and live with it's ugliness and fake colors on AMOLED. I just will have to wait for a good ROM for it as I couldn't stand the Samsung interface. It makes Android feel like their feature phone. I am also going to try and play with Atrix and compared it to arc. If the performance on Atrix is good, I might just get it as the phone feels solid and it at least looks better than GSII.
It amazes me how SE sc*$#s up with every phone in someway and I still end up owning them. With X10 it's the OS version and with Arc, lousy hardware specs. They should at least have provided more memory. I have a feeling they never tested Arc by installing any apps and widgets.
Apps/widgets I have installed - Go Contacts, Go Contacts Themes, Go SMS Pro, Go SMS Themes, Beautiful Widgets, Beautiful Widgets Animation, beautiful widgets themes, Widgetsoid, life.contacts, Amazon MP3, Amazon Appstore, Angry Birds, Angry Birds Rio, Fruit Ninja, Swype, Astro, ESPNCricInfo, Business Calendar, Just Pictures, Yahoo Mail, Tripit, Opera Mini, Twitter, xda premium, and Yelp.
What I mean by Laggy?
I don't mean it's so slow to get annoying. It only felt laggy compared to what I experienced with GSII. It's not annoying but at times I find it annoying when the dialer takes almost couple of seconds to load or my SMS shows blank blue screen for almost 4-6 seconds. At that time, if I restart my phone it performs better. I stopped using Live wallpapers hoping it will help phone perform better. I remember the performance was not like this when i played with the stock ROM. I am not sure if playing with whatsapp screw'd up something. I will try to reflash and see how it behaves.
Update1: I re-flashed my Arc and it now works blazing fast. In the next few weeks I will try to find if any particular app I used caused the issue or it's just a limitation with Arc if you have several apps/widgets installed with over 300 contacts and lost of them with high quality photo image linked through SE UI instead of picking low quality one from GMail.
Update2: I installed most of my commonly used apps and I see no lag now. I suspect having three weather apps might have some cause for the lag before as they were alway setup to get weather updated. I used Beautiful Weather, Go Weather, and WeatherBug Elite. I had Beautiful weather setup to have animation on unlock too. Or it just could be one of the other apps which I am used to download everyday from amazon appstore.
I'm not sure I know what you mean by "laggy"? I've got 8 or 9 widgets on my homescreen, phone still runs like it did out of the box. It's incredibly fast, I've had uptimes longer than you've owned the phone, and most of all, it works very well as a phone. The phone has 512MB of RAM, which means it runs smoothly and there's rarely any lag unless you're doing too many things in the background.
As for the battery door problem, my only comment is "I don't know what you're talking about." Camera button? Works fine for me, and I have a silicone shell over the button. If you're going to complain about a button, I'd recommend the awful power button. It's my biggest complaint about the phone.
Definitely agree on the creaky battery cover. Really detracts from the overall feel of the phone.

I happen to own a LG Optimus 2x as well, if you want a phone fast like hell, just grab that one. Still I using my arc more as I love the design and colours better than on the LG.
After I deleted all the crap I don't use using titanium backup my Arc doesn't feel that laggy anymore, try that too....but still...the LG is faster...
Further on I do think both are great phones, but I wish there were more devs in the Arc section. At the LG section there are very good roms available. I know I shouldn't complain when I am unable to make something myself, but I just miss some nice roms I can try on my Arc.
Before getting another phone, just search here on the forum for complaints, I think in every section at XDA on every phone you will find some cons. It's just to decide which con is important for you...

I hate the small power button as well. But since I use Widgetsoid and there is Lock Screen option, I never had to use the button (except to reboot, which I seldom do).

Agreed.
Power button and camera button could have been better.
You can use the same widget to reboot as well if you are rooted.
I use the screenoff software which gives you some kind of effects when switching off

I am aware of that but I am afraid that I may accidentally hit the option, causing my phone to reboot when I had no intention to do so.
I have 9 screens & 21 widgets & phone is as fast as it was out of box.. Rooted & removed crap apps though I can't compare it with SGS2 as i don't own it, but SGS2 ca be faster (due to memory & dua core) but Arc is not laggy
There is a "what can we remove" thread here. It's a good start but there can also be other reasons for laggyness.
Removing programs you don't use and clear unused programs data and killing non-active tasks can speedup you phone, sometimes
I haven't had such "lag" issues.
Maybe you removed something that affected phone aswell.
I come from an iphone 4 and sometimes i found the phone a bit laggy but overall it's a great phone and i love the screen so much ! And i'm glad to finally haver something that note everybody have.

Sorry double post
I just re-flashed the stock ROM and the phone flies. I am going to first root it and remove lot of crap I don't need and then install one app a day to see which one made things 'a little' laggy.
I also suspect if having high quality images for contacts might be the culprit. I remember I had that problem with X10. If SE is scaling down the resolution when it crops, that shouldn't be a problem.
Could it be possible that you are using a slow SD card? I use a class 6 16GB and dont have too much of a lag.

Very unlikely to be the cause. Class of an SD card really only affects how fast you can write to it, read speeds are generally extremely fast regardless of class.

What's the point of Sense anymore?

I have used all flavors, even back when it was TouchFlo on my HTC Vogue... I don't get it. I paid for SPB Mobile Shell 3D, and it seems much more fluid. I know there are a few nifty treats like flip-over-to-silence-call, etc, but really there are only a few. I was really hoping these 3.0 ROMs would add some must-have features, but I found myself thinking... "I have Sense 3.0, what now?"
Flashing to Deck's 1.1 right now, and as soon as CM7 gets MMS working again, I'll be back on their 2.3.4 build.
What features of Sense 1.0, 2.1, or 3.0 really pull you in? I'm not trying to bash Sense, but I just wonder if I am missing some hidden gem that Mobile Shell 3D doesn't have?
Thanks
Look and feel for some.
Some people use it because they used to use it with their Windows Mobile 6.x phone and they're just used to it.

This is me. I like the look and feel without having to buy a third party add on.
well when I used it on WM7, and it was called touchflo, it made it easy to switch between important info real quick... like tabs... what we have now is basically just the stock launcher with a few widgets on top of it. I do like the font/text size on Sense 3.0, but it seems hard to justify the ROM being 3 times larger... especially when I just ended up putting SPB 3D right on top of it.
The zoomed-in text cursor was kinda cool... I dunno, I guess I just figured there was something really kick-ass that I was overlooking. I'll probably go back to Sense when the Evo 3D comes out, most likely out of necessity.
The things I like about Sense ROMs aren't really Sense-related... I like that full 720p recording works, I like the accuracy of GPS, and a few other things. Although I can say that the Kingdom A.1 ROM had really weak WIFI performance... I had a hard time staying connected and once I flashed to Deck's it worked great again.
What I don't get is how come some ROMs restore all my apps through the Market, and others don't? Kingdom ROM did... Most CM7 ROMs do too.
WindOws vs pc debate...no one will ever have a reason, it's preference, if it aint broke don't fix...
I actually like sense a lot. It's clean & nice looking. I have tried out SPB shell 3D but was missing my sense widgets so had to go back to sense.
Blonde vs. Brunette, full figure or skinny.....
I don't have to go look for widgets to do things they are already built into Sense. If in fact I enjoyed having nothing but icons then AOSP would be great. When on AOSP I spend all my time looking for widgets that do what Sense does out of the box. I also find that when I load AOSP ROMs up with all the widgets they aren't any faster.
Sense offers a great cohesive look for a phone for users that aren't obsessessed with having a unique customized look. The themes, backgrounds, widgets, apps all work together great and you'd be hard pressed to make your phone look ugly using all Sense stuff. LP, ADW, Beautiful/Fancy Widgets, etc. can make for some ugly screenies in the wrong hands. The amount of options offered in those apps is mind boggling for your average everyday cellphone users. Its a great selling point to have all the social synergy stuff and theming out the box without having to buy apps immediately to make your phone pretty.

I was puzzled by this for a while too. Turns out flashing a ROM and immediately flashing the gapps will cause this. If you flash a ROM, boot, then go back to recovery to flash the gapps, you won't get your apps restored unless you do it yourself. There's also a setting (Settings->Privacy->Automatic Restore) that has some bearing on this too.

dang, I never knew the timing of the gapps flash mattered... I always did it the same on every ROM flash and sometimes it worked, and other times it didn't. I wish Google would give us the ability to manage our backed up info/settings.
I guess since I bought SPB Mobile Shell 3D that my preferences are different... they are already the same or better than Sense widgets, and much smoother than any Sense launcher, (full hw accel on Evo.) So I'd probably load this on top of any Sense installation anyways. I really think that would just be a waste. I have to look at non-launcher differences. I like facebook contact integration, but that is done with the Facebook app... I guess if you really like the status updates on your contacts application, and things like friendstream, then Sense would be preferrable. Personally I disable friendstream because I'd rather just check the action out in the main app or on the full website.
As far as the OS-level changes go, are they mostly cosmetic? I did notice the flip-to-silence kind of thing, but I wonder if 4G performance is better, or anything like that?

My god.... THANK YOU. THIS is what keeps me from trying out new roms more often, I hate dealing with 40 applications trying to download from the market every time I switch.

I think you can also bypass that by skipping that initial 'touch the naughty Android' screen. I've never had this happen and I always flash GApps in the same session. And I notice I always have the backup / restore option checked too.

That first screen with the Android, the one that says 'touch the Android to begin,' if you tap around it you can skip that initial BS and I think that is when the app restoration begins. I used to try and make sure I was always set for app restore but it never did it. If you tap the upper left, upper right, lower right, and lower left around the Android you can bypass that.
Pretty sure that's why, despite my previous and earlier attempts to have the restoration take place, it never happened. Glad, because it sounds like a pain.*

Because people have complained about a bunch of old apps they don't want installing again, that or many people use titanium. I grab as I go, make sure things are getting set up and working right as I go. I grab my important ones, free and paid, and sometimes I don't grab apps up again. That way you don't end up forgetting you restored a bunch of **** you downloaded and never removed. I don't have a TON of apps though, which some seem to.
Either way.

Thanks

RandomROM 2.3 v2 "Hawk"

Greetings All,
I've been running the title line ROM for several days now and am impressed with it in general. This sucker uses next to nothing in terms of juice when the screen is off and when my Epic is "sleeping". I've been getting an average of 38 hours with my useage; by comparison, on stock I would be lucky to see 22 hours. On SRF ROMs for example, I would average 28 hours (which I was pleased with)...but got bit by the damn flashing bug and, as much as I say "hmmm, I'll stick with this one", well
It's pretty important for me to get a minimum of 24hrs of battery time on my phone due to my schedule, convenience (or lack of) with charging opportunities away from home. SRF ROMs have been really good for that; Hawk has garnered 10 more hours, most excellent.
The flash went great, no issues, I haven't experienced any FC's, the apparent memory leakage has been minimal, and most everything I need to work does. My data speeds (using EG22) are the same crappy speeds, tried EF, EG and EH modems that were either worse in some area or battery drainers. The ROM itself is snappy, good looking, and did I mention the battery life is great?
I only have one issue: A couple of apps I use to have are no longer "available" on the provided version of the market ("Black Market"). One of them is a paid app that I used every day, is pretty important for my job and is kind of a deal breaker (custom shift calendar/time tracking/scheduling app). I'm sure it has something to do with either the market version or perhaps even GB and not the fault of the ROM...so no slams whatsoever directed to it or to RandomKing.
Is it possible to flash a different Android Market version? I would imagine it depends on what phone signature it sees as to availability of apps(?).
Also, just as an aesthetic thing, I very much liked the on-screen keyboard that was provided with shane's Dark Horse theme...would it be possible to pull that apk, pop it into my system folder and run it on this ROM?
Anyways, great ROM RK (if you read this), thank you very much for your efforts. If I can get my app issue resolved, this will be my daily driver for quite some time.
Aww who am I kiddin'...it'll be my daily until that damn flashing itch overcomes my will
I am newish to the whole 'flashing' thing, but this is my third ROM and so far I am loving it much more than the others. Thanks RK!!
battery life seems great..
runs very smoothly
like the font
like that the kernel comes with the ROM
fast
haven't had any re-boot issues (that i know of)
do NOT quote me on this, but i had a similar problem back when i owned an OG droid. My market sucked balls and started to FC a lot, and sometimes when i would flash a new ROM it wouldn't see some apps. What i did was downloaded the default GAPPS zip and extract the APK and install it. easy, and it fixed this. also, with the keyboard thing, i'm not sure. i'd imagine you'd have to find a zip to flash it. but the keyboard is through an APK as well...so go to the system/app folder and extract it see if that works? again, don't quote me on this stuff, i'm probably totally wrong.
Have to agree. Fantastic rom everything works to perfection. Although my battery
life is not near what everybody claims.
Yes the font the snappiness of the phone even though the benchmarks don't equal
the performance.
yea. people claim to have like over 9000 hours of battery life. the only way i achieve this is by turning off 3g whenever i don't use it which is like, 60% of my day. he achieves the battery saving by disabling a lot of stuff that's kinda important to most. like email notifications and stuff...but meh, it works. Random Hawk is a beast. can't wait for his actual release once source gets leaked since this is Alpha.
Nice Rom
Been on this one for a few days. It's a good one.
Im at 15h 26m 55s and @ 53% battery life right now.
I started with fresh battery stats by booting to CWM and resetting the stats right after it was fully charged..
Wifi and email notifications are ALWAYS on. I spent about a half hour on the phone so far, turned alarm on, downloaded about 10 apps, played ~30 minutes of angry birds last night and checked my mail about every 20 minutes (when I was awake of course) Also spent some time texting.
Also OC'd to 1.2 Ghz

Went to the Market and got a GB keyboard (unthemed) and now it's somewhat to my liking (I don't care much for the Swype keyboard). Thanks for your input.

Stock email is good, but ya I've turned off google sync too and I get better battery life. Wifi's policy is great, and 3g is ok. Sometimes 3g uses more battery than wifi. Its odd but yea. Oh and I kinda hate to bring it up here, but since you're here Mr. RandomKing, the rom keeps resetting on me at times. I'll send a txt to someone sometimes and I get that triple vibrating thing, then my phone resets. Not fully but softly. It happens at random too, not just with txts.

CM10-4.1.2- "Nobe"l-laureate (discontinued-get smoothbean now)

(11-8-2012) UPDATE - bug fixes,TWEAKS by NOBE, still needs GAPPS, needs a 350mb system partition, use the dirty-bean method of installation. 5735 on antutu right out of the gate. GAPPS,FACEBOOK, anything else that runs at startup, will s.........l.........o.........w you down, so just kill the startup process whenever you can to help preserve your high score. Im pretty sure these tweaks will find themselves in a themed rom, but I am gonna focus on making paranoidandroid what it should be, and this I would like this one to be handed off to the guy who pimped it out, but of course I will run the builds from my environment if need be. Here is the update for you guys.
(Tweaked)
http://d-h.st/KPU
P.S.- Did you go buy someone from TeamDRH a beer yet? Did you go buy Fosser some "coffee?"
Or.... you can contribute to nobe's "wife needs her own tablet fund"
and go hit thanks on a post from any of these guys.
_______________________________________________________________________________
THis is pure CM10, built from source. It has one modification, and that is forced tablet UI. You will be in tablet mode no matter what dpi you set in build.prop.
It needs audio policy fix for hdmi audio, and probably some trimming. This is for Nobe to do his SMOOTH thing or Black Jelly thing, it is not to be considered "ready to roll" as much as it is for crack flashers or people who want a blank canvas. This is just pure CyanogenMod10 goodness.
I will answer questions and try to help but please dont expect it to be polished and shiny. It is however nice and fast and capable.
Work calls and I have to go out of town for the rest of the week, so I will not have access to my build machine, but I wanted to get this out for nobe before I left.
Please use install instructions from one of Nobe's roms, or of course you can use teamdrh's 350meg setup as well.
I will probably need a mirror if someone could because I procrastinate and havent set up an account at dev-host yet.
Enjoy.........

so the spec read out from the Gtab is that the 2D, 3D, Database IO, Sd card Write and Read are all faster than my TF201 running HB and on performance mode clocked at 1400 MHZ. I just have one question, does this little guy run choppy when switching apps? That is the reason I am avoiding JB on my Gtab for my wife. She complains that it would take forever when switching between apps. I have also noticed that when opening an app on JB it would take it forever to load. I was just wondering if you are seeing overall improvement on the system.

We run out of RAM on big games, everything else FEELS better than tf101, acer a500, in my experience. Nobe has two different roms, and I have paranoidandroid and this one. Out of the four, you are bound to find one that you like. No stock camera is the other negative though.

I saw paranoidandroid get dropped the other day, but haven't gotten around to flashing it since my wife is busy with her tablet (She doesn't like me taking it away and testing roms on it very often) but I did test both of Nobes and they felt sluggish and choppy. From basic tasks like changing screens opening the app tray checking the play store and checking Facebook... to anything else. I love Jelly bean on my phone and tablet, and I even put Jelly bean on my wife's phone and she loves it. The problem is it hasn't played well with the g-tab yet. I will keep watching though to see what results come of this in the future.

As long as it is the Dirty Bean setup. If you are planning on adding gapps then you must have a 350m system for everything to work right.
Sent from The Darkside via Me...
with the smooth version are you going to keep the original AOSP look and feel?
Yes, 350MB on /system is a must: after flashing ROM and gapps-20121011 over 300MB, there was only about 60kb left in system partition, not enough to even update host file.
The interesting thing was, it was running really, REALLY fast and smooth! No lag whatsoever. The extra available RAM made a HUGE difference.
I'm going to try to "trim" some stuff from the ROM (like CMWallpapers.apk is 8MB, VideoEditor.apk and LiveWallpapers stuff), and gapps (Thinkfree is almost 8MB) and then flash again; we'll see if it will flash on 300MB and run stable.
The more available RAM the better!
