(11-8-2012) UPDATE - bug fixes,TWEAKS by NOBE, still needs GAPPS, needs a 350mb system partition, use the dirty-bean method of installation. 5735 on antutu right out of the gate. GAPPS,FACEBOOK, anything else that runs at startup, will s.........l.........o.........w you down, so just kill the startup process whenever you can to help preserve your high score. Im pretty sure these tweaks will find themselves in a themed rom, but I am gonna focus on making paranoidandroid what it should be, and this I would like this one to be handed off to the guy who pimped it out, but of course I will run the builds from my environment if need be. Here is the update for you guys.
(Tweaked)

P.S.- Did you go buy someone from TeamDRH a beer yet? Did you go buy Fosser some "coffee?"
Or.... you can contribute to nobe's "wife needs her own tablet fund"
and go hit thanks on a post from any of these guys.

THis is pure CM10, built from source. It has one modification, and that is forced tablet UI. You will be in tablet mode no matter what dpi you set in build.prop.
It needs audio policy fix for hdmi audio, and probably some trimming. This is for Nobe to do his SMOOTH thing or Black Jelly thing, it is not to be considered "ready to roll" as much as it is for crack flashers or people who want a blank canvas. This is just pure CyanogenMod10 goodness.
I will answer questions and try to help but please dont expect it to be polished and shiny. It is however nice and fast and capable.
Work calls and I have to go out of town for the rest of the week, so I will not have access to my build machine, but I wanted to get this out for nobe before I left.
Please use install instructions from one of Nobe's roms, or of course you can use teamdrh's 350meg setup as well.
I will probably need a mirror if someone could because I procrastinate and havent set up an account at dev-host yet.
Enjoy.........

As usual, go find a teamdrh member and hit that thanks button, because you know we got nothing without them.
It wouldnt hurt to buy them a couple of beers either.

so the spec read out from the Gtab is that the 2D, 3D, Database IO, Sd card Write and Read are all faster than my TF201 running HB and on performance mode clocked at 1400 MHZ. I just have one question, does this little guy run choppy when switching apps? That is the reason I am avoiding JB on my Gtab for my wife. She complains that it would take forever when switching between apps. I have also noticed that when opening an app on JB it would take it forever to load. I was just wondering if you are seeing overall improvement on the system.

We run out of RAM on big games, everything else FEELS better than tf101, acer a500, in my experience. Nobe has two different roms, and I have paranoidandroid and this one. Out of the four, you are bound to find one that you like. No stock camera is the other negative though.

I saw paranoidandroid get dropped the other day, but haven't gotten around to flashing it since my wife is busy with her tablet (She doesn't like me taking it away and testing roms on it very often) but I did test both of Nobes and they felt sluggish and choppy. From basic tasks like changing screens opening the app tray checking the play store and checking Facebook... to anything else. I love Jelly bean on my phone and tablet, and I even put Jelly bean on my wife's phone and she loves it. The problem is it hasn't played well with the g-tab yet. I will keep watching though to see what results come of this in the future.
Thank you
Wow... you are a monster!
The gTablet is alive ...again!!!!!!!!!
I got really close to selling mine the other day, now I'm glad I did not. I've had it since November of 2010!
Does this require 350MB or 300MB system partition?
Thank you
Now granted guys that screenshot was done with the modified adjustments that I put in it. Once I see that Google play plays nice with it. I will shoot a upload link to the OP so he can test it and apply it to the post.

Just for the sake of argument, run this with 350 if you plan on gaming or multi tasking. Both work well I just have been testing with 350 and seam to be turi g out well.

As long as it is the Dirty Bean setup. If you are planning on adding gapps then you must have a 350m system for everything to work right.
Sent from The Darkside via Me...
with the smooth version are you going to keep the original AOSP look and feel?
Yes, 350MB on /system is a must: after flashing ROM and gapps-20121011 over 300MB, there was only about 60kb left in system partition, not enough to even update host file.
The interesting thing was, it was running really, REALLY fast and smooth! No lag whatsoever. The extra available RAM made a HUGE difference.
I'm going to try to "trim" some stuff from the ROM (like CMWallpapers.apk is 8MB, VideoEditor.apk and LiveWallpapers stuff), and gapps (Thinkfree is almost 8MB) and then flash again; we'll see if it will flash on 300MB and run stable.
The more available RAM the better!

One thing I did notice: when you insert MicroSD card, the system will unmount the internal sdcard....

Sorry that this post won't be very thorough, I made a decently structured post but then my browser crashed and I lost it :|
Lol so my main point is that a lot of people have a g1, and I think the best rom/firmware for it was RC.29.
1.5 really slowed the phone down and made the boot time very long.
And 1.6....eh.[developer wise though, YES!]
I would really like to see a developer make a custom rom for the g1 that is very basic I don't need a rotating screen that 1.5 brought, and at most for an on screen keyboard I'd only like to see the t9 keypad and even that I don't care much for, my g1's hardware QWERY is a beautiful thing.
But yea a very basic rom with very minimal options/features so the g1 runs quick, clean, and mean developed by someone who knows how to make the g1 FAST!
I hope you can get the just of this, I understand someone is going to say this unless I announce it, why don't I stay at rc.29 if I like it so much? Because I like my apps working more.
So thank you for reading this, and hopefully this post gains a lot of ground and want so a developer could make this happen
Besides I would think that stripping features from a g1 wouldn't be too hard
[Lastly that was in my other post, why do we still need a video recorder app in the drawer when its so easy to switch to from the camera? ]
No one else is with me on this? Lol sorry I guess if you feel differently.
It's just that I know in an emergency if I needed to copy down a license plate number or make a call I know my g1 would lag so bad and not open up core apps like messaging or the dialer on time.

Eh I did notice that RC29 did run alot smoother because I had to unroot and return my phone. But I think it's a step backwards. Most people probably have forgotten what it was like and have moved on. Sorry bro.

no offense... but i ran rc29 for about well about week ago it was not any smother infact it was slower and sucked my battery. i dont use screen ration you can disable it in spare parts and always use the hard keyboard and never have any widgets...although im thinking of messing with some (getting bored) but yeah dude run cm stables and over clock and bit ( like 348 to 568) and ur g1 will run smooth as butter. dont mess with swap and ect because i think it more trouble than its worth on cupcake (cough*)

Yea I am on the Cyan train, it seems that every other experimental build he puts out messes with my most needed app so I'm flashing all around. And it's ok no offense taken but I genuinely thing a stock phone at rc29 is super fast, I have had this experience and so has some of my other Android buddies on other forums.

i was thinking about this you would like use a ota rc29 right but have roted goodness right? things like apps to sd and and also having a lot of apps on phone can slow it down. and idk when i was using rc 29 becase i wanted to see if there really was any improvement and i was having to send the phone becase the mic went out. i had alot of forecloses in the stock messaging app i cant think of thing that would be running in the back ground on cup (that you cant disable or not use) that would slow it down. but you are right the original over clocked jf 1.5 was really slow at least when i tested it with neocore got repeatably worse frame rates. but with cm 1.5 builds with over clock to the same speed i got faster up frame rates and ran rc 29 for the heck of it and got the same as did on jf 1.5.

As a friendly gesture, tomorrow or the next I am going to load up the dreaming.nbh file in Bootloader and play around with the stock apps and I will get back to you with friendly results.
And I am going to try out Handcent before 1.5
And Twidroid.
My main frustration is just that if someone rear ends me and try's to run via driving I'd love to be able to snap a photo ASAP or break out the messaging app and write down the plate number, my phone lags so much [in my mind at least] I feel I'd rather have a very dimmed down Rom that can support apps on the 1.5/6 firmware.
Well see though :]
I know a lot of mods can fix my problems and some slow them down, but it leans more so on the class of the sd card really.

i hope to see what your results are. im really going to start looking into raw performance. when ever i can get some free time.
I'm back on rc.29 and I really like it, the only draw back to this is that apps I could pull up on 1.5 won't pull up now.
Like I can't pull up twidorids legacy edition thats >1.5
Or handcent
or chomp.
And it's kind of strange :/
I guess I should of prepared better and downloaded them before hand so they'd be in my history. [and no not even clicking view more apps from twidorid pulls up the legacy]
But the phonebook replacement app is there and it works very well.
Just over all a clean UI I love it.
The notifiation bar is solid, and personally it feels faster than an overclockecd cyan build to me.
Swiping between screens, pulling down notifications, the app drawer, opening and closing the screen.
And overall it's just so benificial.
When I'm in the market and I slide my phone open to type then go ahead and close it and search or search while open then close it it doesn't do that stupid **** that 1.5 does where it sets you back one action.
For example lets say I put in handsent.
That's wrong, nothing should pull up.
So ok go back, open the keyboard type in handcent and handcent pulls up, or cool.
Close the phone and it goes back to my results for handsent.
HOW LAME!
I haven't gotten the browser to auto refresh yet due to the lack of internal memory and cache issues, mind you I only have stock apps, but I've navigated between the market and messaging/texts which is already more then impressive compared to lock 2.0 almost clearing the cache and refreshing anything when used.
I love r.c. 29 and so should you, that's just the most bottom, factual, content buyer/consumer happiness attitude there is about the g1.
It's time a dev makes a rc.29 rom that can run 1.5/1.6 apps without adding fancy animation, onscreen keyboards and all that junk.
I might be interested in updating to rc.33 but I have never had luck finding that .zip file so if anyone wants to help out post it here please.
Going to see how well my battery does, it normally never last me more then 6 hours, usually craps at at 4 hours :/
But we shall see!
I tried to upgrade to stock rc.33 but the .zip was too small and failed to instal properly, so I used another .zip and apparently it was a JF rom for 1.5
It loaded fine, installed the radio, then did a few quirky things.
Kinda disappointing that I couldn't get to rc.33 but that's common for me lol.

Features:
Rooted, deodexed
Includes motley 3G kernel v2e beta (see his thread for git details)
Working:
3G (only tested with Baseband version P7300XXKJ6)
Wifi
Bluetooth
OpenGL Accel
GPS
Launcher Screen Rotation
MTP
WIP:
HW Movie Decode (HD YouTube, HD Movies) - we have recent developments that look promising.
Native ICS Screen Cap, for now we recommend ScreenshotUX.
Rotation for our tablet is still an issue as the ICS code base doesn't seem friendly to our 90 degree screen rotation.
Camera - Many teams are facing similar limitations, the above development is also encouraging for a camera fix.
Installation:
In CWM recovery, clear your data/factory reset
Clear the dalvik cache (under advanced, or under the wipe menu in overcome cwm)
Flash the provided zip using CWM recovery
Flash gapps from CWM recovery
Bootup and setup your Google account
Install cpu control of choice, and set to interactive governor (this is required!)*tested SetCPU, No-frills CPU control, and Antuantu.
Give it a chance, this is a deodexed ROM and will boot slow the first time and when you use apps the first time.

Just tried it and GPS is working for me.
Besides the excitement about 3G working the not working GPS reminds me about what a nerdy, unfinished or with a stock rom from Samsung -> slow and crappy Android is. Can't wait to sell my Samsung for an Apple iPad 3, sorry guys don't want to offend anyone, just looking forward for real good stuff. It's a nice interlude beeing reminded about the old days when setting up Windows a dozen times and so on ... I'll have fun with my toy but for serious daily use nothing is able to replace a good working iOS
Nevertheless keep up the work, it's quite better as Samsung is able to do.

why not go for overcome. its honeycomb and perfectly stable and much faster than stock samsung.
iOS might be good working but its so much more limited in so many ways.
i used an ipad for about a week and was longing for android after that. but thats just me...i guess to everyone what he wants.
On Overcome it's nearly not possible to use xda-developers.com as any browser i tried is so damn slow. Well, i don't care if iOS is limited, it's working and that's why i love it, because it's just working awesome out of the box.
As i'm wasting too much time with a product which just should work i'm selling it right now even before iPad3 is available.
C'mon guys think about yourself -> wasting time on stuff which costs a lot of money but working crappy. The time could much better invested in spending time with friends or family. That's the most important part i realized after i started to use Apple things -> They just work and you have time for really important things. It's perfectly fine if "rom modding" is your hobby.

Everyone has different needs, I had a iPad2 with a nice kink because I threw it at a wall when I tried to find a way to get a simple YouTube dowload.
I would get your 8.9 if I have not already got one

I made an update to MIUI GB 2.3.7 for myself. I'm putting the ROM here in general because I'm not a developer, I'm not really going to offer too much support, just wanted to share what I ported for myself
Most of you know what stock MIUI looks like right?
What doesn't work
-NFC
-wimax (4G)
-MMS (?) -FIXED

Thank you.. kind of funny because I promised myself I wouldn't be messing with my phone as much but.... lol. I just love MIUI so much
I personally think this build is pretty damn good.
FYI- I'm using franco's GB kernel found here
I set the gov to smartassv2, IO scheduler to noop
Here is a script I made to implement some tweaks for smartassv2
Script
And here is another for voodoo colors
voodoo colors
Those zips are not flashable! Extract them and have them run at boot with ROM Toolbox
Quadrant scores dont mean much, but I thought this was purdy good
Okay so I'm loving it so far. Only issue I'm having is wifi isn't working. Also i can't find the overclock controls. Other than that its pretty nice. I was running brainmasters version but it started tweaking and I was getting alot calls where people couldn't here me. Thx again

Try flashing franco's kernel (GB)
Also, for voltage controls and more download nstools from the market

Fix permissions solved wifi issue or maybe it just needed to be restart.... who knows. Installed froncos kernel and downloaded nstools. Everything isknow perfect. Antutu bencmarked 3333. 1300 better than stock gingerbread so its good enough for me plus miui is overall more responsive than any other rom.

thx U like miui just not the support on there sites...
The lack of support is a little frustrating but hey they do an amazing job. I just hope with miui going open source our favorite modders can get the wimax working. That's really the only downside to these roms....
Thanks for this.
I've always been a fan of MIUI since my galaxy s days. It was heartbreaking to nab a ns4g to find that there wasn't much MIUI development. I'm hopeful that there will one day be a completely stable version. In the mean time, I will definitely be rocking this one.
Would definitely try this if it was ics.

I feel the same, except when I first got my ns4g MIUI development was really steady with great support. Idk what happened but to be honest its quite disheartening
StiffSpliff and Scott951 were the only people from miui.us who actually responded to my interest in porting for our device a few months ago when the updates stopped. But any other time I would ask anyone else a question on irc or PM I was treated like an asshole so whatever lol

Love this rom
I'm trying to apply your voodoo and smartass setting through rom toolbox. I extracted the files, located and opened the files through root browser in toolbox. Then I copied content/script of each and pasted in scripter of toolbox. After past, I set both to run at boot and then reboot the phone. This is my first time using rom toolbox so I'm not sure if it worked bu when I go into nstools or setcpu the setting don't appear to have changed. Also, the voodoo color settings don't appear to have been applied. Any help is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.
Edit:
I think I did it right. Opened script and identified setting commands. After I compared to setting, they all check out. I assume the numbers you hit were bc of OC/ liveOC.

im so glad we have this for our ns4g now. ive been waiting to go back to miui forever it feels like. lol thank you so much fergie.
has there been any update on MMS? im going to flash anyway i just wanted to find out.
i accidentally formatted my SD like 10 mins ago trying to go back to MIUI and thought i bricked my nexus. long story short im back though and ready to try this. just wanted an MMS status update lol

I've never experienced gb personally. Went straight from froyo to ics as I bought my ns4g pre rooted. Mostly why I'm reluctant to flash this in the first place.
Despite really wanting to try miui. As I've only found out about it last week. From seeing the SwAT port and how good it looked.
If the mms problem gets fixed, I'll jump ship and flash. As mms is something I use frequently. But nfc and 4g, not so much.
And if I don't like it, that's what nandroid backups are for right?

I honestly don't use mms too much, but here's what I found out
You can send mms fine with the stock messaging app but can't download.
All you have to do is download a 3rd party messaging app from the market (I tested Go Sms) and you'll be able to download MMS that way. What I do is just force stop Go SMS service until I need to download a MMS, that way it's not constantly running and I only use it when I need to

General Info
It "worked", but don't set your expectations high (read the rest of the bullet points)
No hardware accleration (we knew this already)
I couldn't get a data signal (no 2G/3G), though it did see my AT&T SIM
Preferences/Settings are slim so I couldn't mess with APN settings to try to get data to work
Wifi will now connect (fixed in Build 2)
Couldn't test much at all due to no data connections working
Power button functionality was erratic. This seems to be fixed in Build 2.
Keyboard was actually very smooth
The OS became smoother after a few reboots, scrolling through windows felt Android 1.6ish, instead of being Windows Mobile 6ish
It shows a LOT of promise
Boots in about 5 seconds, shuts down in 1 second
Pictures of build 3 running on my Nexus S can be found here: http://uberamd.com/post/22200022691/build-3-nexus-s-boot-to-gecko
Changelog
Code:
Build 3:
- Code base from 4-27-2012
- Some tweaks made to get wifi working better (got some pages to load around 4-23-2012)
- Wifi now connects AND loads pages. This means that you can finally utilize the web browser and bundled apps.
Build 2:
- I now made it so the ROM can be flashed via CWM just like any Android ROM
- Code base from 4-12-2012
- Now connects to wireless (pages still won't load, looking into it)
Build 1:
- Initial release
- Restore via CWM "Backup/Restore"
Directions
Ensure you have ClockworkMod on your Nexus S with a unlocked bootloader
Boot into Android
Copy b2g_nexuss_uberamd_signed.zip to your devices SD card
Boot into recovery
(optional) create a backup of your current setup
Flash the b2g ROM
Reboot
Boom, B2G awesomeness
I tested it, and it works. It is a fresh B2G build for the Nexus S
Latest Download - Click Here!
Please do not use any version earlier than 2012-04-13! The earlier version is NOT flashable via CWM (it is a CWM backup archive).
About
These CAN now be flashed like any other Android ROM. Be sure to do a backup within CWM. You can always restore the CWM backup.
This ROM is compiled from official b2g sources, with occasionally modifications sprinkled in by me. Credit goes to those main b2g devs who are making awesome headway here!
These will be built and uploaded daily using the latest sources. The goal of this is to allow people to test B2G without having to setup a Linux build environment as well as download multiple gigabytes of code, and mess with udev. ulimits, and more.
You can follow any updates I have on this thread as well as the boot to gecko section of my website.

In my OP I state that 3G and Wifi also didn't work on the GSM Nexus S. Could be an issue with the current code base. I'm going to do a full rebuild tomorrow and see if it improves.

to add on, the reboot is insanely fast, and i really mean it. shutdown is instant. NOT even almost. Yes instant.
I'm quite impressed of how Boot to Gecko developed since it was announced. Although it has no hw acceleration it performs pretty well when scrolling through wondows. I hope that it will be developed to become something big.
What bothers me is that it wants an internet connection for apps like Cut The Rope - does that mean that it will need a permanent internet connection?
Edit: I tested it for half an hour and it only ate up only 8% of my battery.. wow.

I believe it takes/will-take advantage of HTML caching to store applications offline after they are used once.
And yeah for having no HW acceleration, thus using a lot of CPU, it really was light on the battery. I'll see if the build today fixes anything, it'll be up this afternoon.

I'll test the build this afternoon on my ns4g. hopefully we'll have data working. this is totally necessary for me. great work so far, btw!! I was wondering if we'd be seeing another b2g soon after the last thread was closed for stolen code.
Flashed it just now on my i9023. ignoring the bugs stated in the OP, all I can say is wow!
Even though it doesn't have HW acceleration, it runs pretty well...and almost instant on and INSTANT off...that's awesome!
Wasn't able to make calls or sms, but that'll be fixed at some point.
Really nice! When it's fully completed, I might even consider migrating
Subscribed and downloading. Let's see what happens .

I tried it just now, and I must say it runs decently. It's exactly what I would expect on such an early stage.
I also found out you can access those pages it uses on your regular browser (homescreen.gaiamobile.org, sms.gaiamobile.org for example).
Also, if you long-press home you will get a 'recents' menu.
I'm assuming my i9023 wasn't able to get any signal because the baseband list didn't include the one for ICS.
Maybe you could add it in the next build? it's I9023XXKI1

Preeminently, I have always wanted to contribute to the Eris community. This is my first rom, although don't assume I'm adept at this specific criteria. It is based off CyanogenMod, without it this would have never happened. From what I recall, there was a thread that stated a rom should be made for the Eris as music player.
Hence I felt I should contribute since I had leisure time. So I removed all the applications that would intrude to make the Eris a pure mp3 player.
I bring to you the Abridged Rom.
I removed vexing signal bars in the status bar.
It is ICS themed.
Holo launcher, which is surreal to the ICS launcher.
Holo locker, it is relevant to Jelly Bean lock screen.
Battery script by Decad3nce = XDA. To activate, go to Terminal Emulator, type su for superuser permission; then type batt-cfg.
To make the launcher load smoother, press "Menu" then "Launcher Settings", go to "Desktop Settings" then tick "Wallpaper Scrolling" off.
If the Android lock screen intercedes with the Holo Locker application, got to Holo Locker then turn it "off" then "on".
Got the keyboard to work, just got to Settings>Language & Keyboard> Select Language> (choose) English (United States). That's if you prefer that language.

Just give me a little bit since I accidentally ran the battery into the ground. I want to give it enough charge so it doesn't die half way through boot.
Just giving it a little break in. Not bad.
Although, I seem to have created a slight issue here, where I doubled the lockscreens.

I'm assuming the ICS themed lockscreen runs independently of the normal lockscreens?

Actually, this might be a ROM that sticks around on mine for awhile. I do like how you stripped most of the phone functionality out so I don't have all that additional clutter (and possibly saving RAM? I haven't really investigated that). But hey for your first ROM, this seems to working pretty well.

From what I see it does save RAM, which is crucially vital to the Eris, not only that battery durability excrescences dramatically. Which is very desirable for anyone.
I am the guy that wanted a ROM that turned the Eris into a music player. Having attempted to use TheMP3Rom, and found that it doesn't work, I am glad you made this. I am downloading it and trying it now. You have my thanks for making this happen, and I hope that the development cycle on this lasts a while, because even just the thread on that other rom is dead.
Just to clarify, that command for the battery script is "su batt-cfg" and not "su" followed by "batt-cfg" right?
Also, LOVE the boot animation. Best one I've seen. Also also, what version of CM is it based on?

having ordained this ROM as to what i have perceived it to be, i doth proclaim that this ROM is awesome!! :highfive:
i decided to break out the old eris to use as a spare TiVo remote around the house, and i stumble across this! great job, this is exactly what i needed to bring the eris back into rotation.
certain apps don't seem to be getting proper root access or working with superuser correctly. i don't expect to use the phone for anything other than as a TiVo remote, occasional music player, and spontaneous google searches, so i won't be using many apps that NEED root access... but that's the only "issue" i've come across. great work!

Furthermore, this will get updates, not to worry.
This is what I used on my touchpad, with cm9.

And this one works too, I used both at the same time.

I'm sorry if I intruded with your conversation with Super_Dork_42; this seems very nice. Not only that, as your predating statement, that this would be a great appendage to this rom; I might implement this . Also, thanks for your cooperation in introducing this. :highfive:
My Tracks
Thanks, Spartan, for a great little ROM! I just pulled the Eris out hoping to revive it as a companion for my bike. Works great for music - sleek & fast - however something is blocking Goggle My Tracks from installing. Not sure what it is...it installs on other GB ROMs. I tried both installing from the market (the app doesn't show up), and by sideloading the APK. No dice. Any help appreciated.

Those mods are for CM9 so you'll have to make the next one CM9 based if that's possible in order to use them.
As far as I recall, one link provided for CM9 and the other for 2.3 and further.
