Bluetooth: Not being able to pair / connect - Touch Diamond2, Pure General

Hey guys,
I have searched for this problem on the forum but I can't find a solution. The problem I have is that my Bluetooth is not working like I would like it to:
When trying to connect from my TD2 to my pc (xp) / laptop (vista) I get the message:
Cannot connect
Your device hasn't been able to connect with 'pc-name'. De connection failed or the password is incorrect.
(I get it in dutch... so if my translation isn't the same as in the english version you know about it).
When using the pc / laptop to connect to the TD2 I get a screen where I can choose between two bluetooth services:
- Dial-up Connection
- Network Access Point
... These are the only two. When I use my old phone I can also use a Serial port connection (and even a few more).
The purpose of the bluetooth connection is to be able to synchronize my contacts with my Microsoft Outlook 2007.
Can someone please help me with this problem? I have already tried a few things, like soft- and hard reset. Updated the ROM, etc. But it is still not working. The only thing which DOES work is connecting the TD2 to my radio in my car...
Thanks in advance

Hi robje,
Ive got same problem with you.. but i managed to solve it ..try enable receive all incoming beams.. u can find it at all settings --> connections --> beam --> then check " receive all incoming beams"... good luck.....

Thanks for the quick help!
I already enabled this setting, but I still have these problems...

I've got exactly the same problem with my bluetooth, are you still using the stock ROM? I've currently got energyrom's standard2.5 installed so I thought that it maybe WinMob 6.5... My wife's phone is fine and she's using the stock ROM. I'm going to go back to HTC's stock ROM, so I'll give you another update after I've done this...
One note to add.. I've seen that on my older Diamond, the bluetooth COM ports menu shows "New outgoing port", whereas my new Diamond2 shows nothing on the same menu...

Update... I've flashed my Diamond2 back to the original HTC ROM and bluetooth is now working correctly. So it looks as though the problem is probably with WinMob 6.5...
Can anyone confirm this at all???

I think I am just using the Stock ROM (as I haven't installed any other). I am also using WM 6.1... as 6.5 is not yet available for the TD2 (if I am correct)...

The retail version isn't but a lot of the ROMs on here have been done with beta versions of 6.5 (mines on build 23016)...
Anyway,I've flashed back to my cooked ROM and bluetooth still isn't working correctly. I've been messing around with the "advanced configuration tool" and found that OBEX was disabled. However once I turned this on, it still wouldn't work correctly...

Yeah I also found the OBEX using Advanced Config. But that didn't seem to matter... I hope anyone knows a solution for this, because it's really annoying! I have contacted the HTC Helpdesk... but didn't get much help. After giving all details about the problem they send me a manual of how to turn on the bluetooth radio on a mobile device :|...

Have you tried reflashing with the latest update from the HTC website?

This problem is getting weirder... I've now found that I can send files from my TD2, it's just the recieving of them that won't work. So I think it must be a possible compatibility issue between WinMob 6.5 & the older version on my TD...

Has anyone got an idea to solve this problem...?

No intention of being a smartass though...
Have you checked the box "visible"?

Hey Magnus,
I do have checked that box and it's visible. I have done all there can be done (the easy way) on the TD2, but all settings are correct. I can also see a list of available bluetooth services on the phone, which also describes the one I need. But when I then try to connect my pc with my phone, I can only choose on my pc between:
- Dial-up Connection
- Network Access Point
Only those 2... when there are much more available according to the list on the phone...

Have you tried to connect to your "old phone" as you mentioned?

Problems Using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

Hi, I just bought a MDA Vario and downloaded the software to sim-unlock it. I've been using it on Vodafone for a few days and have some problems:
Wi-Fi:
I can turn wireless on, but when I then go to IE to start surfing, it tries to connect using GPRS instead of Wi-Fi. How do I get it to use Wi-Fi instead?
Bluetooth:
I can Sync my device to my PC using Active Sync 4.1 over USB, but when trying to do this over bluetooth, I keep getting told that the device can't find a an existing Bluetooth partnership, even though I've set one up (several times)! What could I be doing wrong?
ROMS:
I've got the T-Mobile ROM on my phone, but I'd rather have a standard (non-network specific) ROM. Where can I download such a ROM? Would ther ebe any issues in overwriting the T-Mobile ROM with a Standard one? Which ROM is the "best"?

If WiFi is on and connected successfully to the network, it should use WiFi. I sometimes find if I wander about, and the phone loses site of my Access Point without me noticing, the next time I request a webpage it will fire up GPRS. You say you're connected, but it sounds like the Vario doesn't think so. Are you sure you've got WEP/WPA keys correct, and that the Wireless AP isn't using MAC filtering? Have you been able to get onto the net with IE at all, or has it always tried to get out over GPRS instead?

When you pair the Vario with the PC, both ends will offer a list of Bluetooth profiles they support. When I tried with my laptop and a 3com BT dongle, despite it working fine with my old iPAQ, the Wizard didn't seem to think that the laptop offered the ActiveSync service (or maybe the laptop didn't think the phone did, I can't remember for sure). You need to make sure that the Vario (if that's the "device" that's complaining) believes the PC is offering ActiveSync as a Bluetooth service, or it will assume it's only paired with other phones, GPS's, headsets etc, but nothing with which it could activesync.

The ftp site here hosts a load of ROM's. I don't know of any that are noticeably better all around than any others. I have a Qtek phone, and although the later ROM fixes the BT voice-dial wake-up problem it also breaks, MMS and some bits of WiFi for some people. Others have installed the WWE version of a ROM and found that the keyboard doesn't match their hardware layout and some keys are wrong. They've then gone and broken button mappings trying to fix the keyboard problem. I know T-Mobile are the least subtle in their customisation, and many people seem to want to get rid of the pink look. I don't believe there is a clear winner in the ROM stakes. I've seen a few sigs that suggest people are starting to cook their own ROM with the GSM stack from one, the WiFi from another or whatever combination suits them. If you're up for doing the same, be my guest, but you may, unless you're experienced, find yourself worse off than you are now.
Have a look over in the "upgrading" forum and see what people seem to be using there. Be aware though, a lot of the "old timers" will be using I-Mate or Qtek devices which hit the streets before the O2 and T-Mobile variants, so they have had less device specific customisation done and were probabaly running a generic WWE (or localised) version anyway.
Hope that helps?
Dox.

Sync Problems with wizard and MS Active Sync 4.1

Hey guys,
Ok this sync is really bugging me, first it took me ages to work out why when i plugged it in the connection went green ina ctive sync and said connecting but wasnt working no matter how long i gave it - turns out it was a firewal problem,
but now when i plug in my wizard and the wizard says connecting under active sync but my computer active sync doesnt do anything, i tried switching usbs restarting both PC and Wizard to no avail, i know my PC is seeing somthing there because it says at first (when i plug into new USB port) found device etc etc, but then it installs it as a network connection and trys to aquire an IP/Network address from it!! that doesnt seem right to me!
Any advice would be great
Thanks
Nathan
hmm has anyone with a working active sync noticed if its installed as a network device for you? does the wizard work as a USB - GPRS modem? because that would explain that bit.
Thanks
Hmmm...
I'm gonna guess that no one is responding because you've basically said some things that lead everyone to believe you've not researched your device or problem before starting a new thread about issues that have been covered time and again.
First, by default Windows Mobile 5 (WM5) connects using the Network Connection method. If you want to use the old USB Serial connection your will need to upgrade to an AKU 2.2 or AKU 2.3 Rom.
Second, if you use the search function (see the top center of the screen) you will find numerous threads discussing several issues with ActiveSync.
Newbies are always welcome but you need to at least try to find your answers before just plopping donw a new thread.
Hi,
I did a search, and tried most of the suggestions, but i dont get this AKU2 thing? and couldnt find a deifnition.
but anyway im since broken the phone so thanks anyway guys
Check your vpn option and firewall option. If you using cisco vpn then uncheck "statefull firewall (always on)".

Problems with Active Sync 4.5

Hi @ all,
I just installed Active Sync 4.5 and have not yet synchronized once my wizard. I have following rom:
aku-3 Roms V2 For Htc-wizard 3.3.0.0
what are the problems?
- rapimgr.exe hast ALWAYS about 99% CPU loading, notebook is not anymore usable
- a synchrnonization lasts several minutes and ends with failures: when i click on view status after it seems to be synchronized, i get following message: server busy
- i cant edit settings, e.g. which outlook folder have to be synchronized, the option is grayed out...
(
has someone else problems like me?!
i will deinstall that and go back to 4.2 or what it was before...
thanks for replies
what versions of office and outlook are you using? also did you make sure you cleared up everything with your firewall software (if any)?
if all else fails uninstall, reboot, then reinstall. that usually does the trick.
good luck
I use Office 2003.
I reinstalled it already twice
now I connected it to my work pc, there it works... pah - it takes much longer than with 4.2, but the rapimgr.exe has not 99% cpu load while synchronizing and after like at my private notebook... :/

i'd bet money it was your software firewall. are you using zone alarm? if you are give access to all the components of zone alarm and you should be fine.
good luck
sorry, forgot to answer to this question:
i use sunbelt kerio. for old version it was configured correctly. when i look to the firewall, i see the programs with new icons which all have access as it was before... so i think that's not the problem
Hi i seem to have a problem with my dopod 838(htc wizard) i bought it 2nd hand and i can't get it to work with my sim cards( i tried 3 different network sim cards ) and i can't get any signal. the blue tooth, wi-fi, IR, and GPRS doesn't work. I can not connect with active sync... windows can see a device is connected but it says "unidentified device". The PDA side of the unit works perfectly fine, only the connectivity part and the sim won't work. I am sure it wasn't stolen coz it still has reciepts of the unit but its out of warranty already. any ideas on how to fix this? your reply would mean a great help. thank you in advance

You should have started your own thread for this. You need to post more information though or nobody will be able to help you. Reboot your phone and you'll soon see a page that list your IPL, SPL, OS, GSM, etc in the upper left hand corner while it's rebooting. Write that info down and post it. if you want help.

Hello,
I have the following problem, when i try to start my wifi adapter (via conn manager) it will not start. I tap on the wifi icoo, it starts to open it, but after 5 seconds its stops and wifi is still de-acktivated.

So i am stuck, can anybody pleas help me...
maybe with a updated "wifi driver"?????? (radiorom??)
wm5, no changes, hard resset wil not help

try flashing another official ROM version. Or the same ROM you're using - once more.
otherwise - take it to the service centre

I would try the latest WM6 ROM for your Herald first.
Thats the whole issue, I have a (dutch) Vodafone branded phone....... So no updating and no original ROM for me...
or dos anybody have the original dutch ROM
had a similar problem with a cooked rom in the past. the only way I could turn on wifi was to start it through the settings -connections -wireless lan. maybe it will work for you.

This is indeed also a common problem. I had this once before and indeed with your workaround it will work again. But unfortunately this is not the answer for my problem. I tryed your method and it will not work.
The whole wierd thing is that I dont get a MAC adres. So the chip is probably broken. Vodafone dosnt give me support and HTC dosnt eather. So Ill have to contact a third party company to fix my phone. after its fixed i will have to send the bill to vodafone..... What a crapy service.

Internet Connection Sharing with OSX (avoiding WIFI?)

I have an issue with my MacBook Pro and my Hermes. I want to share the internet connection from the phone but have issues with each solution I have attempted so far
Wifi - I was using the Wifirouter application successfully until I was advised that the channel on which it is operating is conflicting with an essential wireless router in the area. I cannot therefore use it. I cannot see any way of changing the channel.
Bluetooth - There seems to be an issue with the MacBook Pro bluetooth which causes the connection to be unusable.
USB - This would be my preferred solution however there doesnt seem to be a way to allow the Mac to use this connection.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Aidan
Found this and wondered whether this could possibly work with OSX?
Anyone got any ideas?

I dont suppose there are any Mac gurus here? I am having difficulty compiling the source due to the inability to locate /lib/modules. I presume there is an alternative location on OSX?

Yes I am (6.1) with no problems using it. Make sure that you get the modem scripts copied over (to Library/Modem Scripts), shut down the computer, plug up the phone and put it in modem mode, then start the computer (with phone connected). Go into the System Preferences and click on the network icon and it should say new port detected.
FWIW, I have OS X 10.4...
Hi Kenny,
I have the USB modem option in my control panel and I have seklected the Mobile Stream GSM script and disabled the wait for dial tone. The number I am dialing is *99#. I am getting "A modem error occurred. Please verify your settings and try again".
Any ideas? I am running the USB Modem util on the phone at the same time....
Cheers
Aidan
What Mac OS? Are you using Leopard???
