I bought a black HTC Dream,it`s from Movistar (Spain) provider,it is unlocked.
I tried all the steps on this forum, i tried to downgrade to rc29,but when i press the camera+power button, appears a white background (with some android skaters down), and when it reads the Dreamimg.nbh , it says model id incorrect.
I tried to do the cupcake update(that is what i want to do) and when i go into the bootloader with home+power, hit alt+l and alt+s, an error cannot verify package.
If someone has this kind of problems and solved it,i would be very gratefull if u can help me.Thanks in advance.
In the camera+power it says:

2 Things:
1. Make sure that the file is DREAIMG.nbh. It is case sensitive and make sure its not DREAMIMG.nbh.
2. Have you tried the RC7 version since that was meant for UK phones.
Sorry , i misspelled , it is DREAIMG.nbh, not Dreamimg.nbh (my bad ),i will try the RC7 , i tried de rc8 and did not work

If RC7 don't work then you might have to go another method. I don't know if Moviestar's Dream would be considered an international phone, if so there is a different method for it. Just try RC7 if it don't work let me know.
I tried the rc7 , from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=548924
it says do u want to start update?<action>yes; power<no> , i press trackball for yes
update is in progress...
reading images...
cheking signature..
Model ID incorrect!
Update Fail! Do you wante to reboot device?
..so rc7 doesn`t work

Here is a different method for continental phones.

There's also the one click method, which I don't know if it will work on yours but always worth a shot.

You have to be rooted in order to install anything other than anything official. Let me look this up for you. Just be patient and we'll get this solved. I'm sure someone else will chime in and prolly know the answer.
when i put the update.zip in the sd (like cupcake), and run the recovery home+power , that erorr : canno`t verify package is what hurts me the most
and i`m sure that someone else had this and somehow made it happen. But when i tried rooting my phone to solve this , and saw that this doesn`t work i was very dissapointed.Does it have to do with Movistar, did they put somekind of firmware and that is keeping me from "hacking" my phone? When i turn on my phone, there is an image with movistar`s logo, before the "android" loadscreen , and that is why i`m asking+ the uknown build number , that doesn`t have an "rc" or "r" in it,so i kinda` don`t know what is mine... waiting for someone to have another ideea..thanks for everything supreme!hope dies last...

It might have something to do with Moviestar or something. I remember seeing something in the past about another person from spain had an issue like this and they fixed it, didn't really pay attention to it. Just don't give up yet.
Other opionions? Can someone come with a reason why am i having all this problems with my dream?Looking for answers for a time , but i can`t find an explination...
In the one click method there IS a way to bypass the backup option, its a secret invisible button, just to the right or left of one of the other 2 buttons, no guarantees this button exists or wont detonate a thermoneuclear warhead in your kitchen, just something i read a while back
I did it!!! I found on the HTC website the Cupcake 1.5 update for Telefonica Movistar (Spain), it is a .exe that does everything from windows, after the update was made and i had the 1.5 firmware, i saw that the SPL was 1.33.0010, a 'perfect' SPL that disables remote booting recovery.img files used to install the 1.33.2005 SPL, it`s just like the Rogers SPL found in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=558301 and now this method with the 1 click works , i don`t need to the invisible button trick , it does the backup and all the things u need!
So for everybody with Movistar G1`s , do the update from HTC website and then follow the many Rogers tutorials for rooting your phone!
'Scuse me, I have one of these phones in Ireland. I'm ready for a home for the bewildered trying to get an upgrade, or downgrade going on it. Can you post a link to that magic cupcake-1.5 update for Telefonica Movistar? I can't seem to find it.

Grateful Thanks burningzoul!
That link works fine. Now to try wrestling with vista again. I'm a linux guy by nature and this vista cheeses me off, but I actually have a copy I couldn't refund(I bought bankrupt stock), so I left it installed in case it might come in useful. Looks like it will.
Hmmm... Not doing too well. There may have been another security fix installed. :-(.

Power & back seems is ignored.
Power & action gives me a blue led, no display and it sits there. Battery out; It restarts without any button and has a blue light for the first 20 seconds, but boots normally.
Power & send gets me into fastboot mode. 3X R2D2 androids across the bottom. It says

My choices are:
<CAMERA STEP 2> HBoot Mode
<BACK> Reset Device
<ACTION> Restart to HBoot
<MENU> Power Down
HTC Sync is installed somewhere and wants to synch with something (in windows of course, but I'm booted into linux and want it to get out of my face.
I did try flashing my own backup image, but that gets me a pretty triangle & exclamation mark logo and the fun stops there.
Any ideas from Here?
I didn`t root my phone, because it still has warranty, and if i do that i will lose it, so i can`t help u with these kind of problems but i know for a fact that after u did the update from htc website, u have the spl as the Rogers Dream does , and u can search any Rogers Dream rooting tutorial out there , it doesn`t have to be the 1 click method, the`re are other methods too,i hope u succed but it`s up to you and how u follow those tutorials
Finally sorted myself out and got root, I believe. I lost my sdcard reader and had to sneak off and buy one because I couldn't download things after wiping. Ever feel silly?
I have upgraded to Cyanogen-4.2.4, HBoot-1.33.2005 and everything that goes with it following the Rogers Dream. Now I'm going to find my way around before I fart about any more with the thing.
Good work, i told u it works after all,no u can enjoy the benefits!

Hey guys.
I was happy a few minutes ago when i saw that i can upgrade my legend to Froyo (Vodafone) but now my touchscreen isn´t working
Any ideas whats wrong ?
hard resest didn´t help.
I have to say that i startet earlier to downgrade my phone with the tut on this site and i wanted to root but i decided then not to root.
So i installed a RUU from shipped roms. The Ger vodafone one.
I want to use my phone again
Sorry for push but noone an idea?
I don´t know what to do now.
Can you re-install the upgrade? I'd start there...it could be some incompatibility between the rooting files and shipped ROM. You may also consider finishing the rooting procedure and then unroot if you don't want to stay rooted...

the root and unroot idea is good but how can i do it ?
I can´t even start debugging mode.
You can do that by just using the optical trackball...settings/apps/development/

That's what I thought but needed to be 100% sure. Your system was updated but boot.img was not. So you have new system and old kernel + initrd. Thatswhy things like Wi-Fi and touchscreen don't work. Can you tell me also which HBOOT are you presently using?
Hey i think your right.
i have 0.43.0001
Radio is 7.08.35.21
You´re a genius
but is it possible to solve the problem myself ?
You most probably have a bad block on boot partition thatswhy boot.img wasn't flashed (I guess). Try a customized kernel (in dev forum) which is smaller and fits boot partition with bad blocks too.
so you belive that i can fix it wothout sending it to the repair ?
That would be awsome
But i´m not sure how to install the kernel.
I found this kernel (it´s yours )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=856786
I also found this tut
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=698404
But i can´t use this tut right? because my phone isn´t rooted.
So i searched and i saw this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794829
I can´t install Root Manager so how can i do it ?
Have to say : Thank you for your help
Basically if you don't want to root, it would be much easier than following the above. First you need to grab Vodafone FroYo OTA update zip. Inside you will find firmware.zip. Rename it to LEGEIMG.zip and put it to your phone's sdcard. Reboot your phone into bootloader. It should find LEGEIMG.zip and start update. First it should upgrade HBOOT to 1.00 and then everything else except the system which is already the latest version.
thanks going to download. What shall i do now?
And if i can fix it i can root my phone.it´s okay.but how can i do it if i can´t create for example a goldcard?
Edit : Thaks going to try.
Edit 2 : Ok it loaded the zip but now i get an error.CID incorrect.Update Fail!
Does it mean that i easely have to create a coldcard ?
If you want to root afterwards, you should follow this guide...
What's your CID?
ok sorry im a little bit confused but with your help i see hope
So my first question is.
If i want to root later do i have to follow your guide from now on ?
2) I have an goldgard.img from my last try to downgrade my phone.Ist it ok if i format my SD card (the same as last time ) and Patch the Card?
3) i´m not sure what my Cid is.sorry.
Edit: You Are My GOD!
I had the right goldcard file for creating one.And now it is workiiing
Thank you Thank you Thank you
But one question is left.
How can i root now ? With your tut ? or the normal downgrade tut ? I´m not sure if i want to i would like to know .
My phone was made s-off via xtc clip.
It's rooted with superoneclick (couldn't get unrevoked to work).
ROM Manager is in the superuser list and has been granted root access.
In ROM Manager I click "flash clockworkmod recovery", select "HTC Buzz (Wildfire)" and it says "successfully downloaded clockworkmod recovery".
But every time I click "reboot into recovery" I just get a black screen with a phone in the middle and a red triangle.
I then have to remove the battery to get the phone back on.
Any ideas folks ?
I read somewhere that the current version of ROM manager doesn't work with Android 2.2.
Is this right ?
I tried an older version and it appeared to try and install clockwork recovery for a few seconds then I got a black screen with a phone and a red question mark.
try flashing custom recovery with PC49IMG process. get the file from here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12188132&postcount=15
and one more thing, if u get issues with flashing custom roms then try to use different version of recovery.
issues like amend scripting.......
Thanks for the reply.
I tried putting the PC49IMG.zip file in the root of the sd card but when I go into HBOOT it says ....
CID incorrect !

Do I need to do a factory reset ?

CID error after making S-OFF huh ?
U do have another option. Can try an official RUU of ur region with the radio Radio_13.53.55.24H_3.35.19.25
this gives u hboot 0.80 . Then u can root the phone with unrevoked (use version 3.2).
Would this be ok ?

The one specific for ur region (if it is there) is more preferable. However it will also be ok.
And better get it from shipped roms website if u havent started the download yet.

Sorry, cant go further. That might be due to region. I think there might be ur region RUU in that website there. Don't know completely to solve cid errors. Probably a gold card might be the solution.
But there are solutions for cid errors. Go with this thread (same one as earlier), it might help u. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=993102
Thanks again for all your help so far, much appreciated.
I found a multi region RUU with the same kernel as the one I'm on.
Do you think flashing this will allow me to then flash one of the older RUUs ?
Also, if I do this will it make my phone s-on again ?

When ur phone has S-OFF (by xtc clip) u can flash any wildfire RUU of ur region (i mean downgrading hboot is also possible). Yes u can flash older RUU also, that's what u attempted to do with that WWE ruu.
Once u do S-OFF by xtc clip, then u can't get back to S-ON in any way. XTC clip directly wipes off the secure flag in the radio NVRAM. So, AFAIK, there is no way for u (by xtc clip) to get back to S-ON even when u flash an updated hboot.
But alpharev2 (not yet released for wildfire) will patch the hboot to make it think that the secure flag is off. So, if done by alpharev S-OFF is not permanent. When done S-OFF with alpharev, then if u flash an updated hboot, the phone returns to S-ON. This is not the case with u.
Tried the RUU with the same kernel that's on my phone but got the "customer ID error" again.
I'm starting to think something went wrong when they used the xtc clip.
When I get the red triangle in HBOOT, if I press vol up + power I get the message "failed to verify signature".
I thought having s-off was supposed to bypass the signature checks

AFAIK, after S-OFF it should skip the signature check. That is how we can flash the custom recovery through PC49IMG process.
There is a full guide of XTC clip rooting in the development section. If u think something went wrong when they used xtc clip, u might get an answer there. link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1057524
And also one more link to what we can do after S-OFF here.

In that try the fastboot flash recovery command. May be a hope
Woo hoo, success !!
I made a goldcard and the RUU installed fine.
I now have Android 2.1 and HBOOT 0.80.0007.
I guess the goldcard is where I was going wrong.
Edit : Just got unrevoked to work first time too.
And now I've got CM7 installed !!!
A very happy bunny.
Many thanks again for the help and advice.
Wouldn't have got it working without this forum.
That's fine.

i am using root manager for the first time.
i successfully downgraded my desire hd. installed visionary and did the permanent root.
did the radio S-OFF successfully.
tried the Eng S-off but failed.rebooted the phone.
i checked it with root checker application and it showed that i have rooted my phone.
i installed rom manager and flashed clockmod recovery successfully.
now i put my leedroid rom on the sd card and press "reboot in recovery" in rom manager.
my desire hd boots up and what i get is a phone icon with a red triangle with a red exclamation mark on it .
i removed the battery and restarted my phone.
this time i press the power and volume down button.
i go down to recovery mode and click it on the bootloader screen.
again the same phone icon with a red triangle with a red exclamation mark.
no button works and i have to remove battery again.
What should i do now ???
i'm totally stuck.
your CWM Recovery didn't flash successfully. Next time don't pull your battery press volume down and hold then press power button. it will show you a menu that allows you to reboot your DHD.
Try to reboot your DHD holding the volume down button until the boot loader appears. chech that the first line has something that says
ENG S-OFF or in my case the whole line was
ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
then reboot the phone and flash recovery I believe you have to have Radio S-OFF to be able to flash recovery.
did you use the one-click easy S-OFF and one-click Radio S-OFF tool. if not try to search for this in the forums. I believe they are by jkoljo. This worked for me like a charm. happy ROM-ming.
I rooted DHD any shiprom. No need to downgrade...
I think u flashed successfully the cwm.. why do u want to install custom Rom by traditional method just go to Rom manager from there download ur Rom and click on it.. Rom manager ll do the job for u ... K.I.S.S.

CWM has a different logo I think it is/was an android guy on a skateboard. whereas stock recovery is a triangle with exclamation point inside. So it means something went wrong when he flashed his CWM and would lead me to believe that his S-OFF process went awry. So checking S-OFF is easy. Reboot to bootloader and the info is on the first line.
Cheers
I am a wildfire user from HK, and recently I rooted and flashed CM7 nightly by the procedure form 3xeno:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029318
Following is my case:
Since I have already OTA updated into 2.2.1 froyo, I downgraded the HBOOT and rooted with revolutionary method. Then I flashed CM7 with no problem occurred.
However I used the setcpu to overclock my device into 768MHz and i ticked the set on reboot by accident. I cannot reboot into CM7 loading screen so I flash the CM7 rom again and boot my device successfully. Then I also flashed the most updated kernel provided by 3xeno above. I haven't pay attention to the signal service since this point, no signal can be searched no matter what I did. I have already checked the APN setting and also doesn't work. The battery drain very fast (cell standby 82%) unless I turn on the airplane mode.
I reckon this is the problem of kernel/radio, and some developer said flashing radio is risky, so I flashed the RUU rom from Shipped ROM instead. I have tried both froyo and eclair RUU, even though some of the eclair disabled the touch input, but all the RUU cannot bring my signal back. Since the RUUs i flashed were with different radio version. I can still see the baseband version from setting=>about phone=> software information. The wifi can work with no problem.I didn't know what's wrong.
I have googled a lot and read a lot of threads in xda but still no idea. I decided to send it for repair. What should I pay attention to it before sending it for repair?
Maybe I forgot to mention something

after that it returned to the HBOOT menu and all become normal. They keep shown up no matter what RUU or CM7 rom I flashed. Is it a normal case or a sign of losing signal??
I have also installed the darktremor for app2sd before i flashed back the stock rom from RUU.
Sorry for my bad English.
Since you have s-off'ed your device with revolutionary, you have a custom bootloader, and thus no waranty anymore.. So it can and will cost you.
I don't know what is wrong with your phone.. perhaps stupid, but have you already tripple-checked your APN settings?
Erwin
Thanks for your suggestion. I've triple checked for the APN setting and sure that it is correct.

As far as i know apn has nothing to do with ur network unless you enable/ use gprs/3g internet connection.apn means access point name, and so it have nothing to do with the calls or network. I think ur problem is with radio, as u have a3333 u can try flashing a new radio, and some ruu does not contains radio,if it is a moded one,so there are chances that u have used one of them, go for it , try a new radio.
And in worst case it is a hardware problem,in which ovclck had done some thing wrong with ur processor or the radio module(hardware).in that case dont try to get ur motherboard replaced by htc, since u r out of warranty it will cost u a lot, so buy a new phn, nxt time go for wildfire s.

Learned something new here
I would try the same as what howlyshah suggests: reflash your radio, without the whole blabla of RUU's.
You can try first the latest radio (ending with 20.10). If that doesn't work, you can try the one ending with 19.25.
The process is indeed not without risk, but so is s-off'ing and rooting your phone, and you did that already Just make sure that you have enough battery, you don't interrupt the process and be very patient (for example, it could be that the first boot takes longer than usual).
You can find the radio's in the wildfire index.

This is really really really normal. It is simply your bootloader searching for an update file. For example, if you are S-OFF and you rename an zip-file that you want to flash to PC49img.zip, the bootloader will automatically ask you if you want to flash that file (so no need to go into recovery). If you are S-ON, that will only work if the zip-file is signed by htc, of course.
Good luck!

Really thanks both of you! Finally I downgraded the CWM into v2.5.0.7 to flash the radio. I have flashed the radios ending with 20.10 and 19.25 and the problem still exists. Maybe it is the hardware problem.

Thanks so much but I am a little bit confused by what you mentioned "out of warranty". Since I am still in the warranty period, is it still eligible if I flash the RUU froyo asia HK and flash the HBOOT 1.01.0002(S-on)? Or are you talking about the motherboard replacing service is out of warranty and they will charge me for the motherboard?
I am decided to buy a better phone now, I think it is a really good excuse Thank you guys!
Ya you have broken the security that htc implimented to protect their custom android os,which they use in wildfire,by s-offing ur phone.you can how ever fool them by flashing an ruu,and the s-on the drevice. I think there is some way to s-on the device.search the forum, u will find it, else flash an old ruu, like 2.1 or lower, connect to pc suite, update ur phn,and maybe htc will again update ur phone, and s-on it(i never tried it, but i think it will work,as most companies do the same like se,nokia etc), then you can get ur warranty back, save a bucket of buckz

The alpharev hboot has a version number 6.x The hboot from alpharev AND from htc are protected against downgrading: you can not install one with a version lower then 6 ATM. So flashing a RUU will NOT work.
Btw, we didn't broke the security, the phone is still S-ON. But the hboot thinks it's S-OFF.
However, I tought I've read somewhere here on the wildfire section a way to downgrade the alpharev hboot to a htc one. So you can take a look indeed.

For maybe some more like me that want to go back to what it use to be with the hboot S-OFF, S-ON issue.
I had my phone S-OFF with alpharevx beta. Used CM7 -stable for couple days but decided i wanted to go back to all original. I first RUU my phone with the RUU_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1_Radio_13.55.55.2 4H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed.exe file. Boot it up, made sured it runs, then did what is instructed below here;
To be able to do this you need HTC USB drivers installed. Install the HTC pakage, reboot, uninstall the HTC-
Sync software, keep the drivers! reboot PC again.
Power off your phone. Plug in your USB cable to phone. Press volume down and powerup your phone. After it
settle navigate down and choose fastboot option.
1. Unpack these files to your c:\fastboot
2. Open up your windows command promt (WinVista/7 users rightclick choose run as Administrator)
3. in command promt type CD\ then press enter
4. then your should be in C:\
5. type cd fastboot
6. then you should now be in dir C:\fastboot
7. Im bored to death typing, look below. Beware of each command ends with enter. After success, reboot.
C:\fastboot>fastboot oem mb 9C068490 1 30
... OKAY
C:\fastboot>fastboot flash hboot hboot_buzz_7225_1.01.0001.nb0
sending 'hboot' (512 KB)... OKAY
writing 'hboot'... OKAY
Files needed (Windows version): megaupload.com/?d=UO9L74I9
Works perfectly for me.
* NOTE: Im not responsible for your phone if you brick/kill it. These steps worked for me!

Thanks to all of you! All of your suggestions are useful and I finally got my wildfire S-on(fastboot: flash into Hboot1.01.0001, then flash RUU and become Hboot 1.01.0002) and sent to HTC for repairing. Finally they replaced the main board and it now works perfectly.
I am so scared my device will be broken again, so I want to seek a full guide here before I S-off, root and flash a new ROM again because of some bug of the stock ROM.
Q.1
Sometimes when I receive a call, I cannot unlock the lock screen, seems the touch screen is not working while ringing. Every time I encounter this problem, I have to reply the call after the the device stop ringing. It is really troublesome for me. Is flashing another ROM the only solution for solving this problem? any ROM suggestion for this problem??
Q.2
Before I sent the phone to repair, the Hboot 1.01.0002will check for update:
(SD cheking...
loading.. [PC49DIAG.zip]
no image!
etc..)However after HTC sent me back the repaired phone I found that the Hboot now do not search for the update anymore. In case I break the phone again by S-off, rooting andflashing a new rom, I need to S-on the phone again. But I am quite sure that If I S-on the phone again, the resulting Hboot will search for update and therefore different from the original Hboot after the phone repaired.
My question is: Is this device in the warranty in this case?
Q.3
I am also looking for a ROM supporting APP2SD/APP2EXT/Dalvik-Cache2SD/DATA2SD/DATA2EXT system (I am quite confused with the difference between them even after googled, can anyone tell me that?), any suggestion of the ROM supporting it?
I have used Darktremor before my phone broke for the app2sd but It is quite difficult to use since it involves inputing some command in the terminal emulator (and so scared to break the phone again by this). Actually it is very good, but I prefer some user-friendly apps that can perform the APP2SD/APP2EXT/Dalvik-Cache2SD/DATA2SD/DATA2EXT system.
I found some apps, for example, simple2ext(S2E) and link2SD but I dunno the pros and cons between them.
My question is, which system moving apps into sd card is most suitable for wildfire??
Thanks for your help!!
I have a basic question,
I'm only asking because there's far too much
information available,
on here
and its not easy to find what best fits my
needs.
I have an unlocked A3335 wildfire ( Telstra NextG network 3g version), I'm using it on optus,
my boyfriend was useing it he dowloaded a
font change app for the phone,
but when he did it my phone went in to
bootloop mode.and keep't bootlooping again
and again
all i get is the start up screen,
with yes you guessed it
(Telstra NextG network 3g crap)
All I want to do is try and get my phone from
this bootloop mode and try and recover...
my phone back to how it was.
Its hard to explain,
ok when i go in to the boot screen
i have this on my phone
BUZZ PVT SHIP S- Off
HBOOT-1.01.0002
MICROP-0622
TOUCH PANEL-ATMEL224_16ab
RADIO-3.35.20.10
DEC 27 2010,
17:49:10
and it reads the sd card,
it said the Boot Image. is missing
dont know why a app would take this out
but this is what happen
So Now when i did the fastboot on my phone
it done nothing,
then did the clear storge.
then i did the recovery
it rebooted to a black screen with A
triangle shape with one of these things
! in the middle of it,
but still stuck
I can follow the regular guides for rooting,
can any one help me to get my phone back to
how it was please
And I really don't care about this part much,
but would be nice to have it off the phone
and remove all the telstra junk and restore
the phone back to how HTC would ship it,
(all the junk apps they include could easily be optionally installed from marketplace if you want their crap...)
(obviously I'm in Australia also)
There are so many ROMS and options available,
including the ones from shipped roms
(it wont let me post the link because I'm new).
I just want my phone back to how i got it,
can any one help me please....
please send me a private messages,
with a step by step guide to do so thanks..
Since you are s-off u can use fastboot flash from windows to flash a clockwork mod recovery. After you do that, every thing will be simple. Just download a rom in zip format, put it to sd go to recovery( just do what you have done to see the triangle in blackscreen. Note that if u flash cwm you will no longer see that triangle). Then use your volume down button to reach install zip from SD card. Hit it with joystick press. Choose zip. Install it. Just do a data- factory resetting before you install zip.
I prefer cyanogen mod 7. U may use latest stable or nightly build. Feel free to post any doubt you have. We are happy to help you.

nope that gold card image will send to ur email..and u need to copy that gold card image to ur sd card...
Well if the hboot is 1.01.0002 with S-OFF then it must be done using xtc clip. So fastboot flashing shouldn't be working. And u don't need a gold card for S-OFF wildfire .
I would just suggest to flash a stock froyo WWE RUU which also removes the carrier bloatware. If ruu proccess gives errors u can copy the romzip from that ruu and use it with pc49img process from hboot menu. And ofcourse fat32 memory card is must for pc49img process

Hey can you explain what happened now? You said that yours is working now before 2 days. ( in second last post). So what happened now? What have you tried with your phone?
And...
So the gold card question, let me explain.
Gold card is just a patch tool, with the help of which you can unlock HTC boot loader , or in detail, you can unlock HTC 's boot loader protection(that's what we call as s-off) , which is commenly locked( that's we call as s-on) , for a user mode phone( a phone that is for sale to normal user), and it is done so because a normal user never need a root permission, over clocking etc. Also user defined kernal, rom, radio updates unless HTC provide them with updates.( and of cource to protect their device and its custom os made by HTC.
So being an s-off device, we can say in simple, unleash the potential of android.( that's what i said, make the device yours and not HTC 's).
And s-off. In can be done using many ways, find them in topic " complete wildfire index " , one of which is using goldcard method. It is also explained in topic/ stickies " downgrade hboot to xxxx". You can download an attached file called buzz downgrade from that topic, and its what you all need.
And about ruu flashing, i think its not a safe one for you, Coz your phone is a3335? Right? If so, original ruu flashing may cause problems with network( called as radio problems), so you can use custom/ safe ruu, instead. Which contains no radio image, check " complete wildfire index" else go for custom os like cm7.
But before all you should mention what you need.
1) r u trying to put custom os, or do you need original os?
2) do you want your phone to be a true android gadget, or just normal phone which is provided by HTC?
3) what kind of user r u? Normal user or a tech junky?
4) r u satisfied with android 2.2 or need 2.3?
Get us the answers, along with your current boot menu( where you find recovery option) details. So that we can help you properly.
That's all dude. Its 2.30 am here in India, so i should wish myself a good night, swtdrmz. Cu ltr.

Oops. Completely missed that point, sorry.
But since the phone is S-OFF one can just flash the system.img and boot.img alone from wwe ruu to remove the carrier bloat and to continue on the HTC stock rom (only if u wish to). Same pc49img process here but with only system.img and boot.img along with android-info.txt .

Have you installed clockwork mod recovery? If not do it first. Use fastboot flash from windows or linux, then download latest cyanogen mod nightly and put it in your sd. Then use install zip option from cwm recovery to install cm7. Done. Its what you want. No radio harm will be done unless you flash a radio using any methods.
All info will be available on thread" complete wild fire index" in this forum. Tools, recovery, how to, rom, and every thing else are available in that thread.

No expert but looks like you have an empty sdcard and system.I think you need to get a rom onto your sdcard (cm7 good choice) and then through recovery apply the rom. Zip and reboot after. DONT DO A WIPE.the telestra screen is just a splash screen which will always load before the system searches for data to load, next would be boot loading screen but yours by the looks and sounds of things does not achieve!! Probably cos its not present due to not having a rom installed.hope I helped if not best of luck. Members are very helpful here and cos you can access hboot I am 99% sure this will be fixed for you. i have a rom on my sd card but the thing keeps saying FAILED? NO SUCH FILE FOUND ?
Download this: http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...5.55.24H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed.exe
Enter HBOOT.
Wait until it finishes trying to load a zip file.
Choose FASTBOOT to enter FASTBOOT USB mode.
Run the downloaded file.
It should then install the original HTC rom.
Or maybe try PC49IMG method if you haven't already?
On your PC click start and type in the search box %temp%,
Keep your eye on this folder and doubleclick your ruu, a new folder should appear in temp folder,
Open it and search for rom.zip,
Copy it to your desktop and rename it to PC49IMG.zip then copy to your SD card and boot into hboot, it should find the zip and install.
