I hate to ask this in the forums, but can anyone invite me to google voice?
I've been waiting over 2 weeks now, lol. idk, I guess google is backed up.
If you can, sent invite to [email protected]
If not, I understand. Just been trying to play with the VoIP with sipdroid, but no luck yet.
Thanks,
-Eugene373
Just thought I'd add this in,
I was digging around for native program for the G1 & the MT3G being I have both now, and it looks like there might be hope for 1 program if we can get enough people to vote for it.
I did a search, but didn't see anything related to icall.com in the forums.
The web address is http://www.icall.com/
You will see on the left side a place to vote for it. Hoping alot of you do, as I have this for my Wife's Iphone and it works well. though I just noticed this morning that there taking votes for the next release.
Cheers, here's hoping
-Eugene373
I waited 4-6 weeks for my invite and they come from Google. Users can't invite you that I know of.
I broke down after waiting a month and bought 3 invites for me and my friends for $1 on ebay Works great.
GV is one of the best software ever. Google is going to take over the world!
If you have a twitter account - follow them and post about Google Voice... I did that and received an invite in 3 days after applying ...
C'mon, I just saw someone selling 3 GV invites for $0.99 on fleabay. Don't be sooooo cheap.
ebay: BUY TWO GET ONE FREE UNUSED Google Voice Invite DEAL
LOL i almost bought it... he/she seriously means that.

Can accounts issue invites?
Turns out, you don't need GV to get Sipdroid to work.
I signed up for an account from http://phone.ipkall.com for the phone number.
In the Setup ( Sign up Page ) change you sip number to your Gizmo5 sip Number ( 1747XXXXXXX ) & set your SIP Proxy to proxy01.sipphone.com
all incoming phone calls so far ring, and I've not had any problem making calls on 3G or WiFI calls. Edge calls are kinda laggy, but over all it working great minus Edge calls.
Hope this help those that are wanting to play around with the VoIP.
I only needed this due to signal from t-Mobile is far from none at my Grandparents house, So now I can still call my Wife ( and Receive ) or whoever if needed via WiFi calls.
It's a cut & dry setup, but if you need help just ask.
Still need a google voice?
Do you still need a google voice account? I have an invite i can give you.
Send one my Way!

you guys can just request invitation from google directly.

Still no calls over wifi though.
Exactly what I'm waiting for. Hope they go live soon
i dont need a signature
Hope I get an invite! I've been a GV user since it was grandcentral. The minute I saw this I added in my email.
Good to see they are starting to roll this out to a few.
Hey, this may stray a little off topic but maybe you guys can help answer a few questions for me.
The situation...
I might be relocating to the island of grenada, dominican republic for two years for school. I have google voice on my phone and was wondering if I took my shift with me, can I just put it in airplane made, turn on wifi and receive and make calls with google voice while on campus/around wifi hot spots?

No, it's not VOIP. You couldn't make calls. SMS gets sent over data though so you would still be able to text.

I think Skype would be the way to go.
That's awesome; I really want to get this enabled on my phone. I already use Google Voice for voicemail, but I want my Sprint number as my Google Voice number because it's the number everyone already knows for me.
So is it safe to assume that if you already have a GV number you have to forfeit it in order to port your Sprint number to GV?

Has anyone tried contacting Sprint about getting an invite to the service? Maybe it's just a matter of talking to the right person...
That's one of the perks of working for Sprint corporate. The day after the PR about Google Voice and Sprint, a few of my team members and I received the invitation. I have to say we haven't had any issues with it up to this point.
While it seems many people have gotten their invites and are enjoying their integration (or not as the case may be), I can't tell if this is actually available to all sprint users yet.
Can anyone confirm that they've been able to integrate google voice/sprint that didn't do so by receiving an invite (based on registering for notification on the site)?
If you did register and received a confirmation email, how long ago did you register? (Right after it was announced, pretty close to when it was announced or just recently?)

Get even more out of your Sprint phone with Google Voice.
This page should be the first to tell you, or you'll see it all over the web news. To answer your question, I don't know of anyone who has been able to integrate without an invite. I applied for an invite right about the time it was announced and was accepted 2-3 weeks later.
I have not received my invite, despite entering my email address as soon as this was announced last month.
A coworker said he did receive an invite yesterday I believe, and he set it up successfully last night.
Time to hurry up and wait, I guess...
I got the invite to the Music Beta sent to my Xoom-attached email address that I didn't request an invite from. Looks like the Xoom people are auto-invited...I'm uploading as I type. Anyone else?

Nothing yet either
i got it and uploaded close to 500 songs. this could be because i originally had the 3G launch day xoom but just sold it to get the wifi version.. anyway, i got it..
Nothing here, and I bought my 3G Xoom three days after launch.

I bought the nexus one on release date, I'm a paid picasa user, gmail user, google voice user, gtalk user, google docs user, google bookmarks user, xoom user, I signed up as soon as they said the site was live during the keynote and I still haven't received an invite =\

This for me too. I've got 80Gb right now of paid Google storage, still haven't got mine.
Sounds about par for the course.
Xoom user (I think I got it within a week or two of launch), gmail, picasa, 80 gb storage user, docs... you'd think they would hook someone up who already pays for ****!
But seriously, I wanna hurry up and start uploading!
No invites here. No 3.1 update yet.

What is the Xoom email address? I have a 3G Xoom, but I use it for WiFi only. No account.

If you did, you'll receive the email in the Gmail of that account.
Received GoogMusic invite to the wrong gmail account
I have my main email address that I've activated 3 Android phones on as well as my 3G Xoom on launch day. I have an alternate gmail account added to both my current Android phone and Xoom.
Yesterday I requested the Google Music invite from my main email address, haven't heard back yet.
Today I got a an email to my alternate email account titled "Motorola XOOM now supports Music Beta by Google". I can't find a way to activate it on my main email account. I don't know why they have my alternate email address listed as my Xoom address.
The email invite comes from "[email protected]" so I can't find a way to ask them to change it

Have you tried to see if it works with the alternate address? That same thing happened to me but i received the invite but nothing works. Just goes back to you have already requested a invite.
I firmly believe that Google picks invites on a completely random basis.
That being said, I'm hopeful but not optimistic I'll get a Google Music invite, and I'm still waiting not very patiently for my 3.1 update.
I bought my Xoom 3G prolly 2 weeks after launch. but I seriously dont think when you bought the thing matters at all to Google.

All this bragging about how soon you got your Xoom, how much storage you have with them and how important you are means nothing to Google.

I have found out through several posts and news articles that wifi calling as of yesterday is now free. It does not count towards your minutes anymore. To enable it, you have to call or chat. From my personal experience, the reps are NOT trained on this yet. They will tell you that your full of it. Force them to look into it, and they will find whatever it is in there little knowledge base that tells them that it is the truth. After fighting with Jake on Tmobile chat for the past 20 minutes, he finally found it and has enabled it on my account. I have read similar experiences.
This post is to let you know that it is REAL. You HAVE to contact tmobile to have it activated. Post your experiences so that maybe it will help the next person who has to call and deal with a rep that knows nothing of this subject.
EDIT: SOME TIPS
Apparently speaking to someone in billing is the way you have to go.
Alledgedly it is reported you must have the Even More or Even More Plus plans.
Doing an online chat has had a higher success rate of the rep actually doing there job and looking it up vs. a phone call.
Michele: I have also heard through the grapevine that wifi calling is now free and does not count against your minutes, but i have to specifically ask for it. I would like to do that please.
~Jake H: Unfortunately that is incorrect.
Michele: Alright i can send you multiple links from all over the web of people who have called/chatted and got the feature turned on.
Michele: Not to mention the tmobile press release stating so.
~Jake H: Though wi-fi calling is an option on some phones it does still go towards your minutes.
Michele: But go ahead
~Jake H: Please allow me 5 minutes to review our news archive to see if it was updated with out my knowledge.
Michele: This change just happened yesterday. I have read that many reps are not even aware of the change and have not been trained on it yet.
Michele: thank you sir
Michele: Please understand that none of my animosity is directed towards you personally jake.
~Jake H: I understand Michele.
~Jake H: I've found some information about what you are stating. I reading it right now.
Michele: Take your time sir
~Jake H: I have found that feature.
Michele: Alright
~Jake H: Would you like me to add it to both phones?
Michele: Yes please

it doesn't matter.
Most ppl are going into the Unltd calling PP anyway.
Here in Puerto Rico, I can have all unltd with roaming all over USA, for $74.99, That's $5 cheaper than T-Mob USA. (That's single line, for 2 lines it would be $69.99 for unltd talk [+ $34.99 for unltd data and unltd sms/mms] so basically, for $70 all together[for one of the 2 lines] I can get everything unltd).
I have 600 anytime minutes, and everything else is unltd.
Incoming, mobile2mobile, weekends, nights. So I pay $64.99 for those 600 mins, unltd data and unltd sms/mms.
So, yes...it is good that Tmo is offering this new srvc, it really doesn't affect me.
I wasent able to get it. The rep refused to even look it up for me. Can you please give me a link on tmobile that says they will do it?

Hell ya linkmaster. The actual tmobile press release I BELIEVE was leaked, and not supposed to be publically available. So i dont think you could actually use that as a source. I do find it kind of crummy that they are making people jump through hoops to get this instead of just making it automatic for everyone... that's not usually t mobiles style. Maybe in time it will be and they are just rolling it out for people who specifically ask for it.
This is what I copied into the chat window when they told me I was full of it...
Currently, placing calls over Wi-Fi deducts from a customer’s in-plan minutes. Effective5/13, a new feature will launch that will allow customers with capable phones the ability to place calls over Wi-Fi without deducting from in-plan minutes! This is not only a great value, being FREE, but can help customers who experience coverage issues in areas that Wi-Fi is available.
This new feature is available to all Even More and Even More Plus Postpaid rate plans for customers with Wi-Fi Calling capable handsets.

And then said "So are you not aware of this?"
They asked me, "Where are you getting this information?"
Me, http://www.tmonews.com/2011/05/t-mobile-unlimited-wi-fi-calling-feature-going-live-tomorrow/
"They have an internal document that states this"
The next response I was givin was "please give me 2 minutes to look up this information"
Afterwards, I'm assuming she spoke with her supervisor cause I had absolutely no problems getting the feature added to my account after that...
Hope this helps you all putting those lazy CSR's in their place!
called and the rep said that it was already a feature and that she did not have to activate it for me ... i then replied are you sure??
she proceeded to tell me that she was well informed regarding free wifi calling.. i told her to note that on my account because i will be using this to place calls and any minutes counted towards my plan will be credited back to me....
take it for what it's worth...
FYI: family plan even more
update: seemed fishy... chatted online and the rep told me there was no such thing... blah... i'll try again later

Apparently you gotta get someone who is willing to do the legwork and look it up. It's obviously not in there main system and they have not been trained about it whatsoever. I kissed ass to my rep for a good 10 minutes about other issues before you see the chat conversation i posted above. Maybe that helped.

Astriaos: take your time
_Nikolai B: Thank you.
_Nikolai B: Currently at this time, we as T-Mobile do not have that information. There has been a lot of talk about the wifi but as of now unfortunately nothing is set and stoned yet.
Astriaos: yeah i kinda figured. Most all the rumors I've seen can be backtracked to this article http://www.tmonews.com/2011/05/t-mobile-unlimited-wi-fi-calling-feature-going-live-tomorrow/
Astriaos: but you guys can't substantiate leaked internal documents, I understand.
_Nikolai B: Correct that is one one of the documents. Basically on our end, we receive notification when that will take place and if it will and things like that.
Astraos: so essentially you just haven't gotten the memo from the head office as to if/when this will be rolling out for really real.
_Nikolai B: Correct.
Astriaos: I gotchya. I was just curious cause i have the only phone at my place and this would really help keep me from shattering through my minute limit with three people using the phone.
_Nikolai B: I completely understand.

~Barb N: I will be happy to discuss our free WiFi calling feature with you. May I ask what type of phone you are using?
Astriaos: HTC g2. Wifi calling works already and is turned on. However I am specifically talking about this: "Currently, placing calls over Wi-Fi deducts from a customer’s in-plan minutes. ~Barb N: Yes the free WiFi calling feature was released today and allows you to make calls over WiFi without using your plan minutes. I will be happy to add the feature to your account for you.
Astriaos: Thanks! I really appreciate it.
Astriaos: Will I get a text confirming this change to my account?
~Barb N: I have added the feature to your line and you will receive a text message conformation within 2 hours.
Astriaos: Excellent you're super duper. Thank you so much, I'll be forwarding this good news along to XDA along with your refID. You've been super helpful. have a great one!

Alright well there you have it. Just make sure you're talking to a plan and billing rep rather than one an unrelated department.
The feature is NOT automatically enabled!!
You can use WiFi Calling whenever you want but they HAVE to add the feature for you to use it for free.
Just because they noted it into your account does not mean you will have those minutes credited back to you.
I would advise you to call back or start up another chat with them and get them to enable the feature because you WILL be charged minutes and you WILL have to pay for them.
Refer to my previous post to obtain the information you need to get them to feel stupid for being lazy...
So far, there has been at least 2 of us (including myself) who have had a rep enable the feature for us. It can be done because it has been done (obviously)...
I have added some of the tips you guys have mentioned into the OP. Hopefully it will save someone some time

I bought a V20 used on Swappa that didn't come with a SIM, didn't realize how much trouble that would prove to be. Sprint is not like the other carriers where the service follows the SIM. The SIM card you have has to be associated with certain ranges of IMEIs otherwise it won't work, apparently.
I went to 2 different Sprint stores last night. At the first store they tried every nano sim that they had on hand but none of them worked on Sprint's network in the V20. The 2nd store said they didn't have one in stock but I could try calling the national sales support line, well, the sales support line will not talk to you unless you work at a Sprint store. The 2nd store also said that I needed an ICCID ending in 0849.
This is for a Sprint specific V20.
Anyone have any ideas?
Are you a sprint customer? Try customer service or tech support. You can chat on the sprint website. Ask them to send you a new sim card
Yea I did the chat thing and they are overnighting it to me, at their expense.
I far prefer chat to actually calling, I usually get the right people and its usually resolved.

Great glad it's all working out just an FYI they overnighted me a Sim 2 weeks ago it took them eight days to get it to me wasn't quite overnight hope your experience is different
They shipped it on Friday and per UPS web site, it's on the truck for delivery today. I hope to see it this evening when I get home.
So sick of iOS! It was a mistake for me to get an iPhone for my personal use. I have a work phone also and it's a 7 plus. iOS is fine for my work phone but for someone who uses pretty much all of Google's services and likes to root and ROM, it's a real bummer to have an iPhone as your personal. One of the biggest drawbacks is that you can't do both the Google Voice outbound calling and WiFi calling at the same time. You have to choose one or the other. When I turned on WiFi calling, Sprint disabled my Google Voice integration. Enough of that already. People keep asking me why I am calling them on this weird number, because I've been using my Google Voice number for years for all my outbound cell calls.
Bottom line I'm just too invested in the Google ecosystem to use an iPhone. They have most of the Google apps but it's just not as good. I told my wife if she wanted to FaceTime me, just use my work number. Problem solved.
Side note - by loading the security updates, I read here that the V20 can't be rooted now? That would be kind of a bummer but the V20 stock ROM is probably the least buggy that I've seen, so hopefully I'm content to use it as is.

Have you already upgraded security? Do you know your arb# currently or what Zv# your on? You can root if your zv7 or under. Developer mode had a switch to disable automatic updating if your looking for that feature
