Power down the mobile then hold "back and power on" or "volume down and power on" and you should be able to see it!

Turn the phone off completely.
Hold both volume up & volume down buttons and briefly press power on. Keep holding volume buttons till the screen comes on, then follow on-screen instructions.

That's how you reset to the factory defaults.
What you want to do is to completely turn off your device and then hold the vol-down button while tapping once on the power button.

What does that do then?
its called "hard-reset" if you do this.

It's for flashing your rom.
Hello i have a mytouch 3g first edition with out the mic, im trying to boot in hboot to root it but i, power on and volume down nothing happends , then i try to use back key plus power and it flickers white showing the hboot screen for a split second can someone help me.

Hi Jeff.
Make sure that the phone is fully powered-off first, and not just in standby mode. Then hold the VOL- button down first, then hold down the POWER button. Make sure you keep holding the buttons without letting go. It could take up to 10 seconds, but should happen quickly.
If that doesn't work, try going into Recovery mode. Power the phone off completely, then hold HOME and POWER.
Let me know how that works.
hi all
I gave noticed a weird behavior with my device.
When I try to get into recovery with volume down+ power..I go into the bootloader menu. Trying to use volume up + power I get three haptic gesturs and the led lights in orange and get stuck.
I can get into recovery using the HBOOT menu and using the EXT4 power menu
Any suggestions?

Volume down + power ALWAYS takes you to bootloader. I'm not sure what made you think otherwise. Your phone is behaving normally.

What about the other behavior when pushing volume up+power? simply getting three haftic bumps and a blinking orange led..

Sure thing. Not to be a thanks whore, but there is a button for that.
First question: Not sure if it's the phone or the software but when I shutdown my phone and try to turn it back on by holding the volume button and the power button, it doesn't work. But as soon as release the power button, it decides to turn on. Can someone help me with this?
Second question: Does my phone need to be rooted to get Android 4.1.1?

First Volume down, then the power button, it should be on within 3 seconds.
Do you have ADB enabled? Plug your phone into your computer, if your computer recognizes it via ADB, come back

I would try pushing recovery img through adb. See if that solves the problem.
So I have this demo 9th gen HD 10 that I wanted to wipe it and install factory FireOS on it. Maybe root it to standard android later. When I hold down the power and volume up I get a white triangle and exclamation point. Is there a way around this or did I Buy a $20 paperweight?

To fix that exclamation mark when accessing the recovery mode, just try the following:
Press Power + Volume Up and Home Button
Press Power + Down Volume and Home Button
Press Power and Volume Down
Press Power and Volume Up
Press Volume Up and Down

Check if you can access bootrom mode. If you can, just use mtkclient.

By bootrom mode do you mean the menu you get by holding power and vol up that I can't get into?
