My elfin auto suggest words when using keyboard on a black horzontal line above the keyboard. How can I switch to the original WM vertical list method? Is there a reg key to change?
Thanks!
I think thats build into your SIP.
Which means you cant change it, you can try googling it though.
I'd really like to get rid of that black bar as well.
Is there some way you can change the SIP?
A solution
Ok I found out how to do it and it just requires a couple of small registry changes.
Change the following entries under registry key: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts
Ime File: compime.dll (compime.dll was in my Windows directory so I didn't need to copy it)
Layout Text: COMP IME
Soft reset and the old autocomplete that we all know and love is back, e.g. a small box with all the suggestions.

May not be as the keyboard is the standard WM keyboard, not the HTC one. Additionally, for some time, I managed to make the black bar go away and revert to the drop down list. But recently, I did a deep registry celarning using memmaid and somehow something was changed and it caused the blacj bar to appear again...
Wondering where in the Registry should I look for this....

Hi Forum,
I installed the japanese IME as it was discribed at another forum (http://www.firstloox.org/forums/showthread.php?s=c973622a044a5a4a87c1f6099f097d74&t=4510), and it seems to work almost perfect on my qtek 9100, new German ROM installed. Only problem: the program changes the keyboard settings, means that I can't use the symbol- key (function+space) any more, so ä, ü, ö, ', ... are gone. I already tried AEKMap, when downloading the German keyboard file, it doesn't show up within the program. I inserted a new string called "Locale" to the registry-settings at HKCU/ControlPanel/Keybd etc., as it was posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=44489
-nothing helped. Do I miss something?? I will go to Japan next Saturday and desperately neeeeeed a Japanese IME- but also my German keyboard layout!
Greetings from Berlin,
Andreas
Hi again, some more information: It seems that the keyboard is working, the only thing which doesn't work is the "symbol"-key (the "blue dot + space"-combination). Does anybody know if there's something hidden in the registry how I can re-map it and get it back to work??
Thanks,
Andreas
There's a text file you'd need. You can easily create this yourself, though it might help to just find it somewhere.

A pre-made on is in:

Hi ZeBoxx,
doesn't work for me, unfortunately. As I said, the layout of the keyboard is ok, only thing is the missing function of the "symbol"-key. I played around with different keyboard settings, they all work ok BUT this symbol think doesn't. Any other ideas??
Andreas
Did you specifically read this last part?
Symbols List - Changing the symbols when using the Sym hardware key along with a regular key (select devices)
Change the Symbols List
To change the Symbols List simply find the file "\Windows\sym.txt", and edit + save this file. The structure of the file is pretty straight-forward:
On each line, type the regular letter or number for the key as it is when normally pressed. Follow that letter up with the alternative characters ('Symbols') in the order you wish for them to appear. For example, from a WWE ROM:
eèéêë
This will replace the letter 'e' when using the Sym key with 'è', then when striking the Sym key again with 'é', then 'ê', and so on.

Sure, but as I said, it's not the problem that this text file is wrong or anything- it seems that the symbol key doesn't work at all. No matter how many times I use this combination (blue dot + space), nothing changes, no effect on any letter/symbol/etc.
In the meanwhile I did a hard reset, installed all the apps again, same issue. I uninstalled the japanese IME, back to normal. I'm pretty sure that this prog changes some registry setting I need for the use of the symbol-key- I searched the whole registry, but since I'm not familiar at all with this I didn't find anything helpful...
Andreas
got exactly the same problem. Searching Internet and all but I dont find any solution: there must be a registry entry enabeling it but where...
Yep, got the same problem. Finding it hard to search for relevant problems to do with this. Any help would be apprieciated.
I'm an amatuer web designer, and so therefor I write HTML and other languages on my MDA. for anyone who has looked at HTML before, you will know that the language uses < and > a fair amount. guess which characters the MDA keyboard doesn't have...
what I'm looking for is an app that will program fn+g and fn+h (or any other keys, doesn't matter) to < and >. it might have been done before, might not be possible... but if anyone has a bit o' spare time and feels like having a go, I'd be very grateful
thanks in advance
Hi there,
The solution for your problem is quite easy: look for the file "sym", in windows folder, opened it with a text editor, and you'll see a list of characters. The first in each line is the key name, and the default character for that key.
After that one, you can enter any character. When you're typing, you can scroll for the characters of each line using "sym" key.
One detail: as you want to add symbols that don't exist in the keyboard, you need to copy the "sym" file to the PC, edit it there, and then copy it back to the PPC.
thanks! i'd forgotten all about the Sym key...
I edited sym.txt with Total Commander's text editor, and it didn't work... when I was copying back from sd card to Windows/ I noticed my file was 248bytes, and the original was 418bytes or something like that...
I did, however, use the PDA in question to do this... I think i'll now follow your advice and edit on my laptop
Hi.
I have just installed the phone enabled rom. Everything is fine, but it is an english version. Actually I managed to switch everything from english to german EXCEPT the hardware keyboard. I have figured out the following keys in the registry:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd (this is already known and does not seem to have any effect)
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout (this seems to activate one of the defined layouts in the 'Layout'-key)
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts
Could anyone, who has a german keyboard layout running, check what his/her entries in these three keys are?
If anyone has another solution for this issue, I would be happy to hear from you.
Thanks alot.
Don't know wether this is the solution, but there are lots of keyboard layouts listed in:
HKLM/System/CurrentControlSet/Control/Keyboard Layouts
The German Layout has the key number 00000407.
Maybe you only need to enter that number as value in:
HKU/Default/Keyboard Layout/Preload
Good luck

Hi
Thanks for your reply. The country code for German is known, I have tried that, but it caused some major problems including not working keyboards (not even the virtual keyboard). Only transcriber was still working.
That is why I thought the registry keys
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts
would have more effect.
If you look into the "layouts" you will find "00000409" which defines the US keyboard layout. There you will find a "Layout File" that is called "KbdNopALL.DLL" and another value called "Layout Text" containing the value "US". I was wandering if changing any of these keys would enable the QWERTZ layout of the keyboard. So if anyone that uses a QWERTZ Layout could check what settings there are in these keys (e.g. "Layout File" is the same, but "Layout Text" is "DE" or "GER"). Does anyone know anything about the "KbdNopAll.DLL"?
Looking into "00000409" I find the "Layout File" 'KBDUS.DLL' and the "Layout Text" 'US'.
By contrast in "00000407" the values are 'KBDGR.DLL' and 'German'.
I've scanned the whole registry but didn't find any KbdNopAll.dll-file on my German version Shift.
Hope I could help a bit.

hmm, maybe someone should make a Keyb.cab or REG file, that switch automaticly the right Language codes into registry.
I remember, that this issue comes up all new releases of a WWE ROM, I think there is the solution in some older posts ;-)
Anybody knows how to make a *.cab file or a Reg file for pocket PC´s?
If I know that, I can make a "batch" file for easy changing to german Keyboard layout ;-)
got it
i finally got it.
i had a false entry in
HKLM/hardware/devicemap/keybd/CurLang
the value 407 was entered in Decimal which results in a wrong Hexadecimal value. Now I have entered 407 as a hex value which equals 1031 in decimal. now the layout is correct.
damn complicated that is....
thanks for your help everybody

I've got the same problem with my German Treo 750. Hardware keyboard swaps z and y. I've changed all registry entries, but what I need is a kbdgr.dll to change the contents of my new created 00000407 to Layout File KBDGR.DLL and the Layout Text to German.
Has anyone got an idea where I could get this kbdgr.dll for WM 6.0?
I googled my fingertips bleeding, but only found the dll for xp - and I'm sure that this wouldn't work with my Treo.
Regards and thanks,
Reiner
Is there really nobody with a German Treo 750 to help me?
Regards,
Reiner
Hi all, i've installed this rom to a htc touch hd...
When i try to reply to a sms tapping in the white box and using the phone-like keyboard (that with 9 buttons), it outputs only numbers, and i have to close and reopen it to get it working properly... Any clue?
i have the same problem with all xannytech roms....
Use HD Tweak and disable T9 mode (think its No. 20.2 in HD Tweak).
But I want to use T9 ....
edit: tested and does not work on xannytech grid evo 1.7,it outputs only numbers...
i need to use T9 too..
Try this:
Go into the registry and ensure the following settings, then soft reset. (Remember to take note of the current values in case you need to go back.)
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e001 0409
Layout Text to "eT9 IME"
Ime File to "\windows\eT9ime.dll"
HKCR\CLSID\{73AB106C-A726-484b-B610-BE3E1CF39821}
(Default) = "XT9"
(My entry for the last one is "Value not set" but then I don't use T9.)
I have the same settings and did not work...

Another user that had this problem also fixed it with these reg changes.
Ensure that the path to the ime.dll file is listed exactly as below and not as "\\windows\......." - this double "\\" instead of a single "\" was found to be the problem.
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e001 0409
Layout Text to "eT9 IME"
Ime File to "\windows\eT9ime.dll"
There is a cab file here to automate the reg tweaks, so you may want to try that so that you get the entries correct.
It has also been suggested that installing custom T9 files can cause this problem.
just recieved my replacement hd so got all the fun of setting it up again lucky me, so nothing changed from the default programs, my problem is i cant change the keyboard over to something more useful like keyboard instead of the default setting
of phone keyboard any ideas how to resolve this.
Maybe you just don't have any other SIPs installed?
If you want to change the default keyboard, take a look at the registry setting for [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip]. "DefaultIm" specifies the default SIP. But be very careful with this, a wrong value here can prevent your device from booting.
You can find valid SIPs but searching the registry for IsSIPInputMethod
ok found [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip]. "DefaultIm" dosnt mean alot to me to be honest but havnt been able to locate the IsSIPInputMethod within the regisrty so far and when i do what doi do to change the default keyboard settins?
