In Android Market, we are making it even easier for users to find great apps from developers.
Discuss.
Nice. I was wondering when they would add screenshots to the market.
Looks more like the Apple App Store... which isn't the worst thing in the world...
looks fantastic.
This looks nice. Looks more orginized and better.
this looks gr8!
any idea if theres been a leak yet of the market available for download?
yea its in the latest cyanogen rom...

looks like android ships officially now.. and given that, i wonder why not much is making Pseudo-Android apps for WM.. there are some bits of android that will be a nice addition to our WM phones to make it a bit more user friendly..
this is also posted on another thread, but i think it's hi-jacking so i made a new thread discussing it
what i like to see now is some Android inspired apps.. i'm quite sick now of pseudo-iPhone apps (well, excluding A_Cs S2 lineup that is and other great apps)..
so, how about an application such like the Android drop down notifications.. it'll totally replace the bubble notification icon when you have more than 1 notification.. and it's easier to access than pressing that darn icon on the topbar..
it's pretty handy, if you ask me.. i hope someone develops something like that..
here's a video demo of what i am talking about..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hy-YcGNyJds
anyone who have seen other interesting bits of android, and want that bit into our WM phones, please post here..
luckily, a good developer might see this and create one for us..
Ok i know a few will agree and many will not but i don't see what the big deal is with Gingerbread.
I looked at the visual interface and it's nothing new....No New interface( ui )
looked into the app drawer and nothing new there either..
the on;ly thing i see different is the Keyboard.....
Htc Sense is a real achievement when you're looking for something New and fresh...
Miui also is something BUG and NEW ( I don't feel like Gingerbread has lived up to all the expectations.... BUT I CAN BE WRONG . LOL )
So i've opened this thread to get some insight on what you all are really so hype up about......
Find out by urself, its pretty nice.
Here

Ugh....wrong section go to q&a
Another thing... This is Android development!!! Not "Q&A" google whats new on Gingerbread 2.3! www.google.com
This thread is poop. Sense is Over rated, MIUI is amazing as an iOS UI copy, Stock 2.3 is clean and to the point.

For starters its much faster and smooth. This comes from tighter organization of resources from what I have read, and this also helps with battery performance. and even if nothing else, this alone makes it a good upgrade. I mean even if you think of it as Android 2.2 just with better battery and seamless performance it is a very desirable thing.
But mainly it seems that the upgrades are in the background of the OS and not to the UI. Although that is not the most exciting thing the effect was immediately perceivable by me when I picked it up in Best Buy, which I was happy with.
And finally, I guess this is personal preference, but for those that like vanilla Android this a nice upgrade. Even the Froyo 2.2 that came on my Nexus One had some spamware in it (Amazon MP3, Facebook, Twitter, etc) but this comes with strictly Google apps, which is great. I have found that I personally dont get along with Sense or any of the other skins. Personally I havent found anything superior to Vanilla android with Launcher Pro (except CyanogenMod , which wont install on my Nexus One b/c I dont want to void the warranty )

Thanks.
Alright first and foremost, after I finish this post I'm moving your thread to Q&A. This is not a question you want to ask in the Dev forum because though eventually it may be dev-related, currently it is not.
Also, I'm not gonna close your thread because I feel everyone has the right to voice their opinion as long as it's appropriate but I am going to forewarn you that you are literally begging to be flamed.
That being said, I DO NOT want to see ANYONE flame this guy. You've all been warned. I'm not going to tolerate flaming anymore. If I see it I'm just going to start dishing out temp-bans.
All of that being said. Moving the thread now.
Contrary to what you said, the rom is infact an miui rom with few apps from market / cooked from interwebs.
porting iOS would need some magic from Apple inc.

Agreed, isnt apple hardware wayy different from alot of android hardware? Mainly processor? I think it uses a proprietary apple (Apple A4 (the iPad CPU)) CPU. Which means different coding? I think like Rick says, would need some magical wonders, which you know how apple haaates other hardware with their OS (hackintosh/psystar)...
so with that in mind, probably best to get a IPHONE!
EDIT: actually looked at link, annd wow, even the status bar is WAAY not apple...xD idk where you got the idea that was a iOS ROM from...

Actually, it is not an MIUI rom. I've flashed the rom and tried it myself. Not really pleased with its speed . However, indeed it is based off cyanogen like miui, so its technically not a true iOS rom but a cyanogen rom modified to look like iOS.

Well, that thread is also mainly about apps that do not require the 'iOS' framework found in the rom. The status bar is indeed iPhonish when you use the rom, however you retain your original status bar if you've just used the app.
I don't really know if you guys have seen it, Sharps Feel UX that the american design company FROG developed for them?
This would be an awesome thing to get to our phones, if we can get it ported. Since I don't know how to fix it all, I was thinking maybe there's a developer somewhere out there who knows.
I'll post a link to it, and people can discuss it, I think it looks so awesome, the UI is something completely new, and it has this smart lockscreen. Well, all I can say is, even though it's a "shell" UI, it's one of the best looking I've ever seen.
Oh goddammit, since I'm a "new" member (which I'm not, been a member here for ages but haven't been posting much, I'm not allowed to put up links, so if anyone want to see it, they can Google it, or just send me a PM and I'll give you the link, the video can be found on Vimeo by searching for "Sharp AQUOS Android Smartphone - Feel UX".
I don't think it's out even in Japan yet. Too soon to tell.
Would love to get that phone just for that interface! Love it!
Yeah, I know it hasn't been released yet, but I thought it would be good for our dear devs to know about it some time before, to decide if it's worth trying to get ported to our device.
It seems like the phone itself looks quite nice aswell.
it would be awesome to have it on our SGS
That is an awsome UI. Hope someone will port it.
Watch this video first:
I'm here to propose a community funded effort in finding(and funding) developers interested in making a design concept a reality. Looking over the video a few times, I began thinking how easy it would be to do this with android especially with all the customizable apps and widgets. the only problem is that some of the applications would need to be coded from scratch. Or maybe some apps can be themed to look like it (IE ubermusic app theme). I personally like it and would like to see if anyone else is interested and thoughts/opinions. I'm extremely open to criticism and critiques. I would take on this project myself, but my Java knowledge isn't that extensive, as well as my C/C++ skills, however, I am willing to make the necessary image files if need. I may also contact designer behind the iOS7 concept and see if he is willing to contribute as well.
In Final:
Looking to find and fund developers willing to either make a custom rom or applications that are similar to the ones in the video. If it a custom rom, I would it would be CM, Kang or Slimrom base! yee.
dude, fix your post. Your links are unfriendly!

You have to fix links for video.
just copy this text : ESivYZXYqYE and then select it, and use 'YouTube' icon fourth from right.
Looks really nice kind of like miui a little more advanced

Good luck. Your gonna need it.

That concept video is basically just a bunch of features that already exist in android. As for the design language as previous commenter mentioned it's very much like MIUI. Just start looking at different launchers and widgets available and you'll soon be able to knock this up. I could probably get a decent replication with a combination of Apex launcher, UCCW and some icon packs.

Oh they can all they want. Every developer knows that all they do is take codes from others. Even their theme settings are built off of CM coding. The whole look of the rom is a copycat off someone else. Apple is gonna have a field day with them the min they try to sell internationally and so is the GPL lawyers.
No real dev takes them seriously.
