Hey All,
I've just installed the most recent version of Google Maps (v3.2.1) on my Touch Pro 2. However, I suspect that it may not be updating the current location to Google Latitude anymore, after Google Maps has been closed.
When you close the most recent Google Maps, you will be prompted, whether or not you wish to continue to send location updates to Google Latitude. After clicking "Yes", GMaps closes. However, in order for it to be able to send updates to Latitude, it still needs to have some kind of a background process running... there isn't though (I checked with Schap's Advanced Task Manager).
Does anyone experience the same issue? Does GMaps use some other sneaky way to update the location to Latitude without GMaps or a background process running?
Thanks for any feedback on that matter!

Two previous posts have mentioned my problem below but never in detail.
I have been getting an error message when trying to show the location of a GPS photo, shown in HTC Album, in Google Maps 4.0, 4.1 and the built-in version. I installed 4.x to my storage card. The error is: c:\gmm-branch2\googlemobile\src\cpp\common\platform\internal\resource_loader.cpp:14.
All is well seeking a position from HTC Contacts. The error does not occur with GPS photographs if Google Maps and Latitude are running when the request is made. FootPrints are shown in CoPilot. I'd like them to activate Google Maps but that's for later unless anyone knows of a fix.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to avoid the error without running Google Maps in advance of using HTC Album to see the position of a GPS photograph?
Not not for nothing but turning off google location reporting in "Accounts & sync" turned my phone from a one day phone to a two day phone. Anyone else try this?
I already disable google play location reporting with android tuner. BTW, I did the same for google analytics and ads.
I updated my Google Play Services and I recently started getting a message in Google Fit that Activity Detection is off. I click on it and it acts like it will take me somewhere and it never does. Same when I try and view the Google Maps Time line. When I go into location settings Location Services is missing.
Any ideas?
Can I reinstall Location Services somehow?
Can I downgrade back to whatever version of Google Play Services that came on the phone?
I got it fixed renaming the com.google.android.gms-8.1.15_(2250156-240)-8115240-minAPI21.apk to GmsCore.apk and replacing the one in /system/priv-app/GmsCore/GmsCore.apk
And of course changing the permissions to match the one that was I there. I then rebooted and then it let me install the com.google.android.gms-8.1.15_(2250156-240)-8115240-minAPI21.apk
That restored my Google Location Services!
Make sure to install Google Play Service apk's that are meant for your device!
It seems that since I upgraded to Android 6.0.1 background location no longer works. What I mean is that I no longer can use location smart lock, location based reminders, Google Survey no longer sends me surveys about my visited locations, I no longer get Google now cards based on location. However when I open maps manually it will find my locations. It seems that only the system process that run in the background do not work.
This is really a bummer because I use location based reminders regularly and have missed several now that they have stopped working. I am cleared cache and davlik without any change. I am trying to avoid a factory reset but will try that next if no one has any idea's. Let me know, thank you.
I'm running OCT-M 6.0.1. Every time google apps try to access location services, I get play services crashing. This does not happen with non-google apps such as waze or GPS Test.
I've tried reinstalling play services to the latest, reinstalled google maps, and cleared data for services and framework (backed up beforehand of course).
Does anyone know what could be causing this? I'm unsure where to find a crash log.
Just in case anyone's curious, I managed to figure it out myself. Disabling and re-enabling play services through privacy guard (OCT-M is based on CM13) fixed it. GPS now works and I no longer get any play service crashes.
