I don't know what had happened to my magic, but when i try to turn on it, it will not boot properly and stay at the HTC logo startup....
I know I able to factory reset the MAGIC, but that it will be very painful to me as those data will be wiped off...
Can any expert give me help? Is there anyway to solve this problem without losing all my data inside the magic??
are you on a custom ROM?
I am sure everyone will need a lot more info to help you.
so here is a basic list
1. Type (32A/32B)
2. Current ROM
3. Did you flash anything before it became that way? (SPL/RADIO/ROM/Theme)
connect your phone via usb (no need to mount) start the adb app with cmd and type 'adb logcat' you can see whats going on see if your getting errors
i flashed a rom and it took about 8 min to get to the home screen
I have a sapphire (32B)
With a Rav 1.???g recovery.
I tried updating my SPL but my phone didn't reboot after flashing now I get nothing. Did I brick my phone?
technubi : i think you did. But i could be wrong (i hope i am)
Hello there,
I got my HTC Magic (from belgian operator "Proximus") stuck on the first boot sceen. I can no longer acces the fastboot nor recovery.
The only thing i can do is put the phone in radio bootloader (screen off + blue led).
I have searched the forums alot and some have reported being able to send fastboot comands in this state but i did not manage so as the fastboot shell waits for the phone...
Here is what i got installed / did:
- rooted
- cyanogen mod 4.1.3
** t this point the phone was working great and used several months. then i tryed the following: **
- recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.5.2H.img (worked, wiped the memory and installed the following from here)
- signed-google-ion-ota-14721 (installation worked, auoupdate the radio, reboots and...just the logo) I intended to then go to cyanogen 4.1.9
Any idea what went wrong and even better, if i can make the phone boot again ?
Thanks in advance for your help !
What probably went wrong is that you installed a 32B Radio (the ion's) on a 32A device.
Now if you can't get into fastboot, hboot or recovery then there isn't anything you can do, unfortunately
Try to get the device replaced if it's still under warranty.

I'm pretty sure your phone is finished but you didn't happen to mention what you were doing in the first place? Were you just updating your ROM or flashing a new Radio?
Hum, i fear it has become a very expensive white brick indeed.
I confirm it was a 32A...and i tryed to flash an ion rom wich is 32B.. gasp !
My bad... sould have waited to have my head clear before doing this :/
i'll try to see if i can get the unit replaced/fixed by official means..but idoubt it
Anyone interrested by replacement parts ?
Oh, and what is the radio bootloader mode for (action+power => blue led)...?
Several qustions as i am deseperately trying to revive my Magic:
- Is there anyway to make the phone pick up a special boot on the sdcard Without accessing recovery/fastboot ? If so what file do i need on the sdcard (sappimg ?)
- What is the radio bootloader mode for ???
Try to connect your phone to your computer using USB. Start it in different ways, and see if fastboot or adb finds your phone. As you said you can start it in radio bootloader, try boot in that too, to see if fastboot or adb finds your phone.
If it does, post your radio and hboot, maybe I can help.
Did try all possible boot method, but the phone never registers on the usb with fastboot or adb. It just keeps showing me the operator splashpage.
The last thing i installed on the phone was the "signed-google-ion-ota-14721" (now i see this was for 32B...didn't pay attention enough that day). This overrode the radio with another one included in the zip.
The installation went quite smoothly but when the phone rebooted, it froze on that logo screen...
well i'm here in the same situation...
there must be something to do...
cmon where is the nerd within you, solve this and get a ****load of respect from me
Hello,
I work for a mobile phone distributor. As such, we often get from manufacturers "pre-series" handsets that we use to showcase to our customers.
Usually, these handsets are mostly if not fully identical to what will be on the market but the S200 I got hold off yesterday shows a weird OS version : S200_0.019a.00_EN
And it seems the flashing functionnalities have not been implemented on it or even restricted : when trying to flash an official Acer ROM, when pressing "Yes" the following message is displayed on the screen : "KernelIoControl fail ! Your device not support this function. Please check your OS version"
I also tried flashing custom ROMs but they all fail after reboot in FTM mode
I really think the bootloader is special on this unit but can't find any HardSpl or alternative bootloader that I could flash over =(
Thanks for your support

Seems like you have a pre-production unit, acer does not apply any kind of flashing encription to there phones, so you dont need any hard-spl,soft-spl etc, you should be able to flash your device, since hdubli first rom cooker for the acer s200 also had a pre-production unit, send me screenshot of the back of your device without the battery, il see what i can desiver off of it.

Hmmm this is intresting indeed....have you tryed flashing any of my roms?? what you have there is test bootloader, if do have a flashing security/or no flashing support is withing the bootloader, try flashing my rom as i have the oldest bootloader, let me know how it goes, im very interested in your device.
edit: turn off your device, and press and hold camera, and wile still pressing camera press the reset button, and tell me what it does
Hello,
Actually, I think my test bootloader had nothing to do with my issue but it was rather the flashing tools disliking my Windows 7 on bootcamp =(
Just borrowed a laptop with XP and could flash your latest ROM
Well, actually my phone won't reboot at all (all I get when pressing the power button is the blinking red light) but I guess I will find the solution in your main topic, won't I ?
Removed battery, put it back in, pressed camera and power button then pressed reset but nothing happens
EDIT : looks like I bricked it =( Can't reboot, no matter what I do all I get is that red blinking light
Reflashed, program says procedure is complete but still the same in the end

Well its not bricked just yet =], if you press camera and reset and the red light start blinking thats good, it means your device is in download mode(bootloader) so you can save it, but my guess is that your device doesn't have the flashing partition in its nand flash, you would need to flash a proper production CSV this will partition your device nand to production standarts, hence giving you the flashing partition, as this said you would need qualcomm's qpst something qualcomm engineers only have, so for now your device can only boot into bootloader.
Doesn't sound too good =(
I guess I'll never be able to add the flashing partition myself, will I ?
Edit : finding the QPST seems easy on RS, how about the proper production CSV ?
Thanks a lot for your time

This one should work, be aware the QPST is not flashing utility its an engineering tool, meaning you require certain knowledge to use it, if you fail to do so you will render your device completely and utterly useless, good luck.
Before trying QPST, just tried and flashed UFE Nuts rom : it works like a charm !!!

Strange hes using my rom as based so mine should have work as well.
Strange indeed ! And then i could flash your rom on.
Only thing is that it aparently lost the radio !
Oh... It's a pity you flashed it so quick We could have used the pre-production rom for various experiments (as I remember, none of the reviewers complained about 2d landscape issues or low headset volume ).
Sorry, no one told me it could be of any interest to you guys =(
By the way, would you know what I should do to flash Radio the radio only ?
If you use the old flasher (i.e. there're plenty of files in rom package - flash.bin/extrom.bin/amss/...), you can try to delete flash,extrom,dsp1 and to leave only amss file.
Will try that when I'm back home, thanks a lot !
I think I've flashed all the ROMs I could find on the forum but without much success : everything works perfectly except the phone =(
All I get is "Phone off" on the desktop and all that is related to phone doesn't work (placing calls, SIM toolkit, connections setting, etc...) just as if there were no SIM card in the handset. I get the "Phone is off, would you like to turn it on ?" message but it never gets to the PIN input screen.
I tried with several SIM cards that work perfectly well in my other phones with the same result
Any idea would be greatly appreciated =)
Thanks

You need to try different AMSS.MBN these are the Radio part for the acer s200, try flashing the one found in my flashing tools, if dosnt work download difrent Acer OEM roms, and try all the amss.mbn, one of these should work lol, good luck.
rafyvitto
Tried to flash all the AMSS.MBN I found, including the one in your flashing tools but I'm still stuck =(
I'm about to throw the phone through the window =)

Hmm it seems that your pre-production device flashing partition is not as big as the normal acer s200 devices, my only guess is that your flashing partition is full thus not been able to flash the amss.mbn, my question is in the flashing process do you see amss.mbn been flashed?? or is it skipped?
Hello
No, the whole procedure goes fine, no error message of any kind and apparently nothing is skipped
hi guys..
please help me .. i flash my HTC HD2 with a MAGDLR111 and after it doesnt continue to boot and only stock in boot image. i try to use Hard Reset (holding down the up and down botton and tapping the power button), it response very quick but it says the "restore completed and press up botton to reboot" and so i did but still, it still stock up in boot image forever.. please help me, what should i do..thanks
Possibly a radio problem. Boot pressing volume down button to get into bootloader and flash a radio WITHOUT .51. in its name....
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
thanks, already did... and it works.. )))
hey i have that same problem now can you help me get a radio so i can download it or can even help me through the steps to get back my phone to normal plzzz.? thank you
Any new user most definitely has a lot of questions...
Here is a thread you should carefully check - it explains some basic stuff, and it offers links to many other specific threads, incl. Radio ROM.
To return to "normal" ROM, please just check the standard flashing process. You can flash via USB or SD card, whatever ROM you like, stock or custom.
Hey man thanks for all that but i really don't want just any rom, i wanna know if anyone can get me the rom that comes with the phone for windows mobile 6.5, you know with the orange load screen etc, i really dummy in this thing and i should not of even played fast to go try flashing my HTC HD2 with a MAGDLR111.
so i've tried various roms and everyone of them was going great unitl step 2 in the upgrade process, it kept saying error filr open, check update rom utility. where do i go from here?
It is quite difficult to help if there is so little basic information available.
The error you mention can have a simple reason. Usually, the ROM image file name is simply not correct.
To flash via USB:
There are 2 options:
First, you can take an original RUU of your network operator (in case you have a branded phone) or HTC, put the phone into boot loader mode (see below), start the RUU.exe on your PC.
Second, you can extract the original RUU.exe with WinRar or a similar program, take the .nbh file and rename it to leoimg.nbh.
Once you take an image of the ROM, you have to put it into the very same folder where your ROM update software is (LeoCustomRUU, SSPL, whatever). One more time, please check the suffix, it should be .nbh, as in "leoimg.nbh".
Keep in mind: Do start the RUU software as "Admin" - whichever you choose.
Instead of the original ROM, you can flash custom ROMs, too - since your device must have HSPL installed when you used WP7 or Android before.
If you´ve got issues (because of Win 7 on your PC or such), please try to put your device into bootloader mode before connectint it to the PC (turn off the device, push vol. down and power at the same time, the multi color bootscreen should appear, only now connect it to the PC).
To flash via SD card:
Re-format your SD card FAT32. Don´t put anything else on it. Copy the ROM image file with the exact naming as above on the SD card.
To start the flash process, do the same as above, go into bootloader mode, the flash process will start - just follow the on-screen instructions.
i have this same problem only it happened without me flashing anything or something like that. i dont have custom rom or hspl. everything is stock. what should i do?
bump ^^
The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 10 characters.
hey guys..hope to be in a good health
this is my first theard ever here.. and honstly i found xda more useful, more likly to me rather than any websits else..so i'd like to thank guys here "u rocks guys "
now i'd like to ask about flashing anew rom for my HTC touch HD t8282
running win-mo 6.1 with arabic supported language..touch flow 3d..etc
but now i'm bored with original rom and i was looking for some roms around here and i found what i excatly wanted
but..(i'm sorry for that question :$) i dun know how to flash a new rom to my blackstone..i used search fuction and dummies guide also but..rofl i didn't get what they were takin about
so i was asking if someone could provide me with smplified way to install a new rom using HSPL
Thanks in advance and sorry for z long topic
basically, flashing a winmo phone is an easy process:
1. bootloader mode (power on with VOL- button pressed)
2. flashing
3. hard reset
however, there are a few preparations if your device was never flashed before, you need to install hspl on your phone and make sure you have the correct driver installed on your pc. the driver for the device in bootloader mode might vary from the driver used to sync the device, when switched on.
1. the driver:
if you have windows xp, connect the phone in bootloader mode and look, whether it changes from serial to usb on the bootloader screen, you should be fine by then.
on windows vista/7 you connect the device in bootloader mode, and might actually take some time for it to download another driver from windows update. if it changes from serial to usb, first try to connect using mtty, before attempting to flash, because the connection might not yet be stable and you might want to have a look at the thread (ref updating the usb drivers).
2. hspl
to quote the dummies' guide thread:
(HSPL2a) Place your phone into its bootloader.
(HSPL2b) Run HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex.exe from the download in step (HSPL1a) and follow it as normal.
(HSPL2c) If successful, go to step HSPL3. If the flashing process sits at 0% and you get Error [260] connection after some time, go to step (Troubleshooting).
pretty easy, in other words, just connect the device in bootloader mode and run the package on the pc, it will unlock the spl and flash hspl.
if all went well, you are ready to flash, download any rom you like from the rom development section, and flash it using the .exe file that comes with them, might be updater.exe, blackstone RUU.exe or something else. if your rom download only consists of an .nbh file, like ruu_signed.nbh or BLACIMG.nbh, download advanced RUU and use it to flash.
alternatively, if this is to complicated for you as a beginner, you can rename the rom file to BLACIMG.nbh (if it is not already named like that) and put it in the root of the sd card, by then entering bootloader mode, it should find the rom and give you detailed instructions on how to install it.
last step, hard reset, as described in the original manual, switch on, while pressing VOL- and VOL+ and follow the instructions onscreen.

download this, extract all the files, take micro SD out of device, connect device to active sync and then run HardSPLWrapper_Blackstone.exe on your pc, it will now start to flash a new SPL, when complete confirm you got it installed, go into bootloader mode (tricolour screen! {hold volume down and press the reset button under the back cover}) now verify the screen shows 1.56.OliNex, which is the new Hard-SPL version.
when complete you will be able to flash any rom to your touch hd/blackstone
note: if you do not flash a new rom you will have graphical issues with the current rom, however this gets fixed as soon as you flash a new rom
if you have any trouble, click me and go to the first post
good luck
