magician camera sotware wwe 3.04 - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

hi as many of you im sure have noticed, the standard phone software has been removed in this version of cotullas much loved wm6 roms.
i was wondering if anybody knew of replacement software that could be used, freeware or not.
thanks you!

no cotulla has removed the lot entirely so you cannot use the camera even with another camera app, you can wait for the next release (which I think will have camera again) or downgrade to 3.03

3.03 is very good

Noob Needing Help With Rom Flashing

Hi all
been on this site a while now and with 02 stopping the download of there official 6.1 release it has forced me to look elsewhere,
I have looked online here and decided i would like this one,
M2D Diamond W/3D Drivers - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=441079
I knwo i will need to install hard spl first, the main quetsion was that this says that no radio come with it,
Do i need to find a radio rom? or will it use my existing one?
I really have no idea! any help would be appriciated!
Thanks
From my minimal experience, I think that the ROM will use your existing radio. At least this is what happend to me when flashing ROMs without radio. As a suggestion for radio I say the 1.59.42.23 version. I see better signal.
If you don't flash a new radio it will use the existing one.
Normaly cookers say what radio they recomend, i'm using myself 1.59.42.23 with good results.

Hi,
Radio 1.64.08.21 is not compatible with latest WM 6.1 ROMs, if you flash it you will not have Camera and phone working correctly.
regards
What would you reccomend to be the best verison for it?
1.59.42.15 or 1.59.42.23
The best and most compatible radio for cooked Wm6.1 is in my opionion 1.59.42.23!
1.64.08.21 is NOT the newest one - don't wonder about the higher version number - it was portetd from another device!
I have now downlaoded 1.59.42.23 radio,
if it doesnt work can i always revert to an older radio rom?
also does anyone know what radio the official 02 xda 6.1 relase has since i think i have them at the momnet,
Anyway i can fin this out?
Is it worth upgrading?

Difference between HD2 Manilla 1.4X and 1.6X

Hi Guys,
I'm novice at this so ignore my ignorance.
I have 1.48 WWE installed on my HD2 and I was considering it flashing with the new release ... I think 1.66.
But I really dont want to go through the hassle of installing all the programs back onto my device unless it's worth it.
Is there anybody who can tell me what's new in the 1.66 version and is it worth upgrading .... I'm not a heavy application bur rather a simple user and I hate troubleshooting
So if you think its not worthwhile upgrading can you please let me know.
Any feedback will be welcome.
Cheers
Wolfy
Might help if you let people know what region you are...
Region - UK and the version used is the WWE one.
Cheers
If you´re fine with what you have, no need to flash.
The 1.66 ROM series bring all the hotfixes and updates which you might have installed already - in case you have to perform a hard reset, you would not have to install all those. There are other differences such as an updated Radio ROM version, but most of them are "under the hood" and not visible.
Many people here flash custom ROMs to get some more free memory space, or maybe another Manila/Sense functionality, but you will not find this kind of "big" difference between the official 1.43/48 and 1.66 ROMs anyway.
But, again, if you are fine with the stock ROM, there is no need to flash.
I have 2 HD2 phones now.
One is 1.48 ROM and other is 1.66 ROM
THe only difference I see is 1.66 show more memory. It says 448 Mb while 1.48 show less.
Not sure why...
Oh, I after hard reset memory is same on both phones. Now, I don't know the difference anymore

Base 1.72 vs Base 2.10

Sorry I did use the search tool but couldn't find an answer... What are the differences between these as well as advantages/disadvantages of each? With so many ROMs available I'd like to have something more to help me choose.
Thanks
I'd like to know this as well. All these different versions and ROMS using different ones etc is confusing. Also, the HSPL versions.. all confusing!
Base 2.10 has an awful and distorted noise in phone calls and awful bluetooth management not to mention more power consuption, these are the main disatvantages from my point of view.

A chef or somebody knowledgeable in cooking could answer this. The only thing I know for sure is that if you have HSPL (for the 1.43 stock roms), you can flash all base 2.10 roms and you can enable the 576 mb ram if you use a 2.07.50 or 2.08.50 radio because this what I got on my device as my signature states. Actually, I also managed to flash 2 1.72 roms, but I found them not to my liking so I stick to the 2.10 ones and I'm happy with them. Just to name a few: Astriaios, Energy, RTT Shock Star RTM, Leo firestorm, LIA Glass series, Ahen L6 series from xda, and from VIETPPC: Hoang An Leo, from PDAVIET: All, because they use only the 2.10 base. Most of these roms exist in 6.5 and 6.5.x so you guys will have the choice.
I stick to HSPL(1) because I think there is more choice in the 2.10 roms than in the 1.66 or 1.72 ones and because I don't want to limitate the choice of roms with HSPL2 for only a certain variety or roms (1.66 OR 1.72).
Hope that will help you guys to make a decision
Big thank to all the Chefs I mentioned above and to the others, you guys make all an awesome job!

The noise distortion and the battery consumption are RADIO related issues (if your radio keeps on searching for a signal, it will drain your battery quickly), not rom except for a well-known program whom shortcut had to be deleted from the Start menu because it was creating battery drain, I think it was Ameba or Swype, but I'm not sure. As for the bluetooth management, it may be issues concerning the Voice commands, but for the data sending/receiving, I never had problems with any of the above mentioned roms, except if the chef uploaded a version with a problem and reuploaded another version later.
Radios 2.06, 2.07 and 2.09 are said not to be power angry.
Miri has just lauched a version of his ROM with both bases over at HTCPedia for us to test.
I've been following this and it seens that, indeed, 1.72 (along with radio 2.09, that is not compatible with 2.XX) is better in terms of battery life and signal.
2.XX with latest WM builds seens to be much faster, on the other side...
Is still partial conclusions...
So is it basically a case of better all around performance in 2.10 and better battery life and signal in 1.72?

Don't know yet.
It seens that, in some places, radio 2.09, wich is incompatible with 2.10 base, performs much better in terms of battery life and signal.
I've experienced it myself.
Regarding performance, I can't tell you for sure it's base related of WM build related.
At this moment, considering the same ROM with the two bases, like Miris, I would go with base 1.72 with radio 2.09, but that's for my region. Don't know if it applies to everybody.
Just as reference, here's Miri's 2.10 base thread, where people asked for a 1.72 version for testing: http://htcpedia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1786
And here's 1.72 version with some valuable feedback: http://htcpedia.com/forum/showthread.php?p=52190#post52190
I think this is the best case for testing, since it's almost the same ROMs, only with diferent bases and radios (because of compatibility)

How does HSPL2 limit you? If anything it gives you more choice. With HSPL1 you only get 1.42.hspl and while you can flash any rom with that hspl version, with HSPL2 you can choose between either 1.42.hspl, 1.66.hspl or 2.08.hspl and still flash any rom you want - so you aren't limited to only 1.66 or 1.72 based roms.
The advantages of HSPL2 is that supposedly by matching the hspl version to the rom you get a more stable combo according to Cotulla. Another benefit of HSPL2 is that in order to revert to the original spl version you just choose this from the tool. No need to flash a stock rom via sd card etc.

ROM, Radio, HSPL ??? what does it all mean ?

Sorry really to be a pain here, but if someone does not mind, can they explain to me ROM, Radio and HSPL? I think i know that ROM is the software running on your phone. but it that version number increased everytime someone make a custom ROM out from an official one?
Radio as far as i know is for wifi, radio, etc. is this correct ? And final we have HSPL, now what do need that for, and for what use it is?
I am ofcourse asking these questions because i started to look at all the nice ROM's out there and not sure if i should stick to what im doing and keep going for the higher numbers. Would be very happy if someone could quickly explain them all properly and then maybe guide me to other links where i can read more...
Thank you in advance...
SPL - Secondary Program Loader - Think of it as the BIOS of your phone. It starts the operating system loading, and when you flash it verifies cid and region locks.
HSPL - Hard Secondary Program Loader - This is the creation of Bepe and Cotulla and Co. and is a hacked version of the official SPL that bypasses the checks when you flash a rom. It requires SPL 1.42.0000 on your phone to use.
This is the only version that works for telstra phones.
HSPL2 - is an upgrade to HSPL that allows witching between most of the available SPL's, and also their HSPL equivalents. (So if you want to install cooked roms, you might choose 2.08.HSPL, whilst if you want to go back to official, you would choose 1.42.0000 in the HSPL2 dropdown)
HSPL1024 - Is HSPL specific to the tmous hd2.
hardware ROM - The Read Only Memory of the phone. Think of it as the hard disk in your device. This is your storage memory.
'the' rom - When we talk about flashing roms, we mean the file that installs the whole operating system on your phone. This file is 'flashed' to the rom storage space, where it installs itself. After it finishes configuring itself, whatever is left is your available storage memory. (usually around 180 meg on a standard hd2)
Official ROMS have version numbers such as 1.66 , 1.72. 2.10.
Version numbers of cooked roms are meaningless. They only apply to that chefs roms. He/She applies versions as they see fit, however you can get a fair bit of info from the ro mthread title.
Example, they will usually tell you the base of the rom, i.e what stock rom was used as a base, 1.66, or 2.10 for example, and also the windows build version, (the 5 digit 21xxx number, i dont know whats what with those, but the higher ones are winmo 6.5.x) and more as you get used to reading them.
radio hardware - The different models have different actual hardware that connects to the mobile network. That is why you cant get 3g on at&t with a T Mo USA hd2. No matter what software radio you flash, the hardware is wrong.
radio rom - The radio software sits between windows mobile and the hardware. It controls the hardware based on what you want to do. There are all kinds of reports of better/worse battery life, connection strength, sound quality results when flashing digfferent radios.
flashing a radio does NOT require a hard reset, so wont affect your install.
Some roms (example the 576 meg enabled roms) require specific radios, read the rom posts for info.
The big danger with radio flashing is only applicable to tmous users, , if they flash a radio with ..51.. in the version number, their phone dies.
A useful read. I hope you got a thank you...
heh, well i got one now, cheers,
Dear Samsamuel !
Tx a lot ! Although I study this forum now since I am a HD2 owner (who never flashed a cooked ROM) I start to understand these cryptic topic now by Your explanations, making me more brave to try it once. Tx
The only thing I still can´t figure out is: WTF are the REAL differences of the stock-ROMS eg. what EXACTLY is changed between ROM 1.43 WWE, 1.48 WWE, 1.66 WWE, 1.72 (no WWE methinks).
I got so far to understand that some ROM-upgrades are just earlier ROMs with all the following patches included, but some are a major switch from WM 6.5 to 6.5.x and Sense 2.5.19xxxx to 2xxxx, giving new features like rotation in all Sense-Screens.
Plz, get me right, I spend all bad-weather-weekends hours and hours reading in the ROM-cooker-section, read XDA on my HD at airports and train stations but the shere mass of info provided - a little bit here, an info there - prevents me to get the WHOLE picture. There is a thread about which ROMs are officially out till now but with NO Info about the differences between them and which is a major UPGRADE (WM 6.5 to 6.5.x, Sense 1xxx to 2xxxx) and which is simply a better working "older" ROM.
I got my HD 2 now by the help of the geniousses here (You, Cookie, netripper, Moonah, netdrg, BsB, TX, metaldetector-lady and, and, and -and SKTools ) to work perfectly, smooth and without any fault but still would like some features like full rotational capab of Sense, which is provided by later ROMS. BUT WHICH ROM IS THIS ?
Maybe someone could add some infos ´bout that as a sticky thread ?? to decide wether to flash or not to flash when a new official ROM is issued by HTC, cause every ROM upgrade causes a hell of a work to make the HD2 work as smooth and flawless as before (I have now about 50 apps installed and configured to my needs).
Tx for Your understanding

[Q] what will happen if frequently changing the rom of hd2

hi htc hd2 users...i love my hd2..first the stock rom was installed in it..i felt some few bugs in stock rom n i tried energy rom after seeing good reviews for it..once i installed energy rom..i found having hanging issues or freezing issues..well i didnt know whats the reason for it...so again i formatted or uninstalled energy rom n installed the ols stock rom itself...now again i found another one rom named as cleanEX RV Ultra 1.01 ..its great n its compatible with my hd2 version...n i am running on it only..today i saw a tmobile updated official rom of 3.14 n i am plannin to install it..but i am scared what ll happen if frequently changing the rom...whether it ll affect my hd2 or cause any damage etc etc
thanks for the reply..
phone-T-mobile htc hd2
Os version-21913
Rom version- cleanEX RV Ultra 1.01
Radio version-2.08.50.08_2
nothing will happen
Just remember to run task29 before you flash your new rom
I have my device now for about 15 mounts, and in the meal wile I have install more than 70 Rom's on it without any problems.
The most important is not how much Rom versions you will install but eater if you would do it correctly.
Why don't you put HSPL3 2.08HSPL and MAGLDR1.13 on it so you can have Android on NAND, Windows Phone 7, hah? . . . now we're talking
Like kurt-willems, my HD2 is like 15 months old, I´m a flashaholic since other devices in the past. I think I flashed roughly 50 custom ROMs (plus some stock ROM flashes before task29 was possible with stand-alone apps).
It is being said that the memory chip technology which stores the OS ROM can be at least re-written 1000 times. I don´t think I will still use the HD2 in 20 years.
Maybe, I´ll keep it as a souvenir as one of the greatest smartphones in the early 2000´s. And at least 1 ROM of each OS on an SD... just for fun, hehe...
I couldn't really remembered how many ROM flashing i've had done since my Dopod 838 Pro, TyTN II, Touch Pro, Touch Pro2, Snap and now HD2, nothings bad happened. So the point is, it's safe as long as You do by the rule Sir. Go a head, You can do more than just that, Cheers

Bro, your avatar is the same with the signature of Bro Tictac (above your post )
I have been flashing my HD2 for 13 months and I tried almost all wwe roms available in XDA and HTC Pedia. But I think it still below 1000 times.
And when it reaches 1000 times and something happen with my HD2, I will not regret it because HD2 is the best phone ever made by HTC
Cheers....

Since you are running a custom ROM, then you alread have HSPL running. I would go into BootLoader Mode to confirm that the SPL is 2.08.HSPL
Your RADIO is fine (although there are a few updated verions 2.12.50 and the 2.15.50 are the more popular).
Once all that is done then you are able to go into the Android NAND ROM Flashing.
