Is there any way to easily lose the Sense interface, and get my interface looking like the nexus one?
I found several apps to free your home and stuff but i'm looking for something easy like the HTC Hero (i was able to just disable sense here).
yes

yep, that's the right thing that you have to do
I've read that you can't do that on the later releases...but I'm not 100% on this.
There's always Helix Launcher in the market.

can i please clean this up THIS DOES NOT WORK, htc removed laucher 2 so you can't choose the normal home, sense just loads it back up again.
you have to download launcher2.apk ! read details

Why would you want to? Sense is one of the factors that makes the Desire better than the Nexus.

Yep indeed amazing isn't it
I've installed Launcher2.apk and despite all the posts to the contrary it works fine on my HTC Desire with the latest firmware.
I must say the app menu is a bit slower (certainly not linear) on Launcher2 compared to Sense UI or Rosie or whatever. But I prefer it to Helix as it's slightly more polished. Things just look a bit off when using Helix.
Used it for a day then went back to Sense. Simple operation using the Application Manager and clearing the defaults but Home Launcher works just as well for this if you're particularly fickle.
Hey quick question, I really dislike the EVO Sense lockscreen, I'd much rather have the 2.1 lockscreen style, Flan I think. How would I go about removing it?
Thanks!
Turn off Sense and it is gone.
Remove htclockscreen.apk and .odex or rename them and you should get stock while keeping the other sense goodness.
I turned of Sense and it stayed the original Sense lockscreen.
After you turned off Sense, it should have asked you what home screen you wanted...Sense or Launcher. I just tried it on my phone and it worked fine.

Same problem, the sense lock stayed with a disable. I want to keep sense but I dislike the Locker, I tried using terminal with the Unrevoked root and I can't seem to access the APN? It says access denied or something.
Downloaded RootExplorer and mounted Read and Write operations and changed the name of the two files, Rebooting now. Lets see if that worked.
That didn't work, the file comes right back when I reboot.
I would like to now how to do this too. I am using ADW launcher and the Sense lock screen is still there.
Try no lock in the Market. Also lets you use the volume rocker to come out of standby.

We don't have /system rw in android yet. That is why its not working.
You have to boot to recovery (nandroid screen), mount, and change through adb.

Thank you! Just what I was looking for although it would also be nice to be able to double tap one of the for cap buttons to wake up the Evo.
EDIT: Oh it seemed just about perfect and then I figured out that it also turns off the screen lock for incoming calls which is no good for me.
removing htclockscreen.apk and odex does bring up the android lockscreen however, the graphics are off, just like the hero was.
Well damn I've tried 3 different computers and I cannot get ADB to detect my phone correctly so that I can work around and delete the stuff. Is there a guide I can follow exactly to the tee for the Evo 4g
I saw a app on the market to remove the sense screen. Can't remember what its called tho.

I have though, the drivers I try to use will not install when I go to device manager, and I've tried stopping windows from installing automaticly to use the drivers from the SDK.
Lockbot Pro. Best app there is. Built in editor to make your own or browse the gallery and download.
I just made an X10 Themed lockscreen. I'm happy.
What is the Code I need to put in? I'm on the green nandroid screen
First off kudos to the folks that got root working on the MT3GS.... I'm at work right now, but this will be the FIRST thing I do when I get home....
Now that we have root, there are 2 things that I would like to see, and this would make the device even more awesome than it is:
1 - The stock 2.1 Launcher, I would love to see the stock 2.1 launcher & lock screen on this bad boy. I LIKE Espsresso, but find myself using LauncherPro more and more.
2 - Live Wallpaper Support.
I would attempt to program it myself if I knew the first step in programming for Android, but will gladly donate to whomever gets these 2 things working.
Isn't the stock 2.1 launcher available as a separate apk?
I haven't found one that works appropriately on the MT3GS screen. All of the apks I've tried are for WVGA devices.
yeah what IS there to do?
what metamorphs work if any?
and can we change the favs action button?
WiFi Tether
So I've successfully rooted my phone and gotten the ENG image with the SlideMeRoot update all installed. Now does anyone know if there are any wireless tethering apps out there that will work with this phone? I tried Android Wifi Tether and while I was able to connect to the ad-hoc network from my laptop I was never able to get out to the Internet.
Well, darn, that was fast! eugene373, you have a donation coming your way.
Just tried your modified slide rom, and with LauncherPro installed, my dreams have come true....
now he's got a legend port out!!

Did it unroot your tab or any other bad thing? I have not seen this update on my sprint tab.
yes, if your update does succeed. It WILL unroot the Sprint Tab.
z4root WILL NOT WORK after the new update, it will just crash.
SUPERoneCLICK root software WILL work though! =]
Also make sure your LCD DPI Density Level is set to stock 240, and make sure if you replaced such files like WPA_SUPLICANT, to the one that supports AD_HOC to tether data from your cell phones to your TAB, You have to replace it Back with the STOCK WPA_SUPPLICANT in order for the Update to succeed.
Also another user had a problem with failed update due to him replacing the Gallary3d.apk with a non-stock one. So make sure you restore your stock gallary3d.apk if you ever replaced it.
Does the update fix the HID Bluetooth issue?

OTA updates work just fine on WIFI only. I use my tab as WiFi only.
The Update Firmware/Profile features do not work on settings app if u use wifi only, but your not missing our on anything trust me.
You will see the OTA update soon, leave your WiFi on, and eventually other the next couple days youll see it.
If you want it now, jus download the file and install it. Its much easier, no need to wait.
I shut the tab down and booted it up again, the update showed up.
The new widgets are great . Thanks for the prompt response

anytime.
Noticed Changed (Myself):
- Darker Hues, The previous bright blues are now Darker dull blues
- Widgets (3 new ones)
- Ram Management App
- Task Manager
- Clearing ram seems to free up a little bit more now.
- Ram seems to be used a little less
- Boot Logos (HORRIBLE SPRINT LOGOS, YUCK, I want my samsung logo back)
- Breaks root, z4Root does not work - use SuperoneClick
- GPS locked into my location Noticably faster in the same spot INSIDE my house within 10 seconds, where it usually takes anywhere from 30-40seconds. Who knows. Maybe just a coincidence?
I like some of the changes.....subtle, but tasteful.
I uninstalled z4root since u mentioned it broke root, but superuser is still present nor can I uninstall it....
U mentioned superoneclick, where could I fund that and do you even recommend rooting again? I ask because I feel like us sprint tab owners are left behind and there aren't really many upsides to being rooted at this point.....no quality roms are anything. What are u rockin? Thanks again

There's a really annoying bug after this OTA update. The notification drawer pull down animation is now very choppy. Also, if there's anything animated going on when you pull down the drawer the frame rate will drop dramatically. This is a real step back; it used to be perfectly smooth.
Since I ran the update this a.m., I seem to be stuck in USB debugging limbo. It's grayed out and the green check mark is on but feint, so I can't seem to use the SuperOneClick app.
Any ideas?
I was previously rooted but that went away. Also, I forgot... how do I reset the darn thing? TIA
I had notification it was downloaded, but when i went to apply it, the upgrade failed. My Tab is very stock, though I do have Z4Root installed (though, like my Evo, Z4 never did work.)
Market issue?
Has anyone else noticed a difference in the market after the OTA update? Searches on known apps come up blank.
I have z4root and the update went though on mine just fine.

The Update failed to complete, but it unrooted my Tab and Z4root fails to complete the operation when run.
Real nuisance I can yell you!
I see someone reckons SuperOneClick will work. I haven't got around to linking my Tab to a PC and it appears thats the only way to get the proggy to work??
cheers

HA!!! I just check and it looks like it didn't take!!! Well there you have it. Now Im curious if the update will show again. Hmmm.....
Also, manual install will not work....
It failed for me on the ota and manual,
It failed due to first, wpa_supplicant i switched from the stock to the one that suppoorts adhoc. So i put the stock one back. Then i tried it again and it said buildprop error.
I looked into that and it was cause i changed the lcd density of the stock from 240 to 180. So i changed it bak.
Then it worked.
Also if you changed any of the stock software it will fail as it verifys the correct files before update.

Alright, first of all, this is an internal device, I will not be using these changes on my own device.
We use tablets (previously Galaxy Tabs) in our office for employees to use an internal application. Our application manages its own navigation, and users do not need to access anything else other than the application. I made it a home screen launcher so it's the first thing that loads. On the Galaxy Tab (Android 2.3), I'm also hijacking all the hardware buttons in the device and I can properly secure the device.
However, on Android 3.0, there are no hardware buttons anymore, and you cannot hide the system bar, I have no way to secure the device if the system bar is always there. I understand why it needs to be there, but this is really killing me.
I have 3 options:
Root the device, try to disable the system bar by editing the framework-res.apk --- Already tried this, unsuccesful since I couldn't find anything in there.
Wait for Android 3.0 to drop in AOSP, build my own custom rom which hides the system bar and do my own modifications on it.
Build Android 2.3 from AOSP for the XOOM -- this will be a lot of work, and I would need help, is anyone interested on helping me with this?
Thanks everyone.

Downgrading to 2.3 might be your best bet, wish 3.0 AOSP would hurry up, want to get somethings working differently as well myself. Let us all know if you downgrade and how it went! Wouldn't mind trying to sneak the shut off animation onto 3.0 if possible.

Yeah, I haven't gotten into it yesterday, but the only thing I'm concerned about running 2.3 on the Tab is the whole issue with Dual-core support, not sure if I would even be able to do it thanks to that, but I'll see. I'm also trying to call a few contacts to see if we can get into some kind of agreement with Moto to try to get the source code early... we'll see...
Have you tried running a different launcher? They allow you to hide system bars on the old android os...might work on 3.0

Yeah, that won't work, the system bar is part of the framework, it's very very low level, you can't hide it since it allows the user to navigate through the device. Before 3.0, devices were required to have hardware buttons, that's not a requirement anymore because of this system bar, it will always always be there.

True, hopefully they release the kernel source soon so I can take a look and see if I can try to make 2.3 work on the XOOM with the same kernel that's working with 3.0.
here is Tegra 2 with many options running various versions of 2.2 and 2.3.
you should reach out to GoJimi over there.

I'm pretty sure atrix is running 2.2.
u can't do anything until source drops. You need baksmali for framework and custom recovery to flash.
I think your best bet would probably be changing the DPI settings somehow (Like they did for the HC build on some phones to get the tablet version) and it would cause you to go into the "phone" version of HC (Doesn't have the system bar) then I would say modify the volume buttons and lock button long presses to recreate the home/back/multitasking buttons if you really want them (such as they have done for the i*hone android ports because ios is dumb and has 1 button). Just a suggestion and honestly I have no idea if this would work.
I'm sure the system bar has a process you can kill with root. I know the status bar can be killed this way on 2.3. Watch logcat and see what you can find. Anyone know more on this?
Porting 2.2 from the g-tab maybe. Similiar hardware I think.

Could you please check your /system/build.prop to see whether the lcd density app has added any code?
I usually tweak density directly through this file but the code isnt there atm on my xoom.
I tried changing the density yesterday and was disappointed to discover that the LCD density wasn't in the build.prop. adding the line of code didn't work, either.
XOOM'd from the XDA app.

Looking at the date on my build.prop it hasn't been modified. And just to be sure i looked through the file, nothing in there.
Huh, I wasn't receiving notifications on email even though I'm subscribed for instant notifications...
anways, will try the density trick, but that seems like a pain in the butt to redo all the layouts in our app, but that is a very very clever idea, might work.
Update: Yes it works, but only if you use one of those apps, not when editing the system.prop file, anyone care to share what's exactly being edited here?
Thanks again!
Update 2: Actually, I had a typo on the line I wrote on the build.prop, if you write 'ro.sf.lcd_density=240' (or whatever density you want to use), push it and reboot, it does work as it should.
how are u going to press "home" or "back"?
