Did it unroot your tab or any other bad thing? I have not seen this update on my sprint tab.

yes, if your update does succeed. It WILL unroot the Sprint Tab.
z4root WILL NOT WORK after the new update, it will just crash.
SUPERoneCLICK root software WILL work though! =]
Also make sure your LCD DPI Density Level is set to stock 240, and make sure if you replaced such files like WPA_SUPLICANT, to the one that supports AD_HOC to tether data from your cell phones to your TAB, You have to replace it Back with the STOCK WPA_SUPPLICANT in order for the Update to succeed.
Also another user had a problem with failed update due to him replacing the Gallary3d.apk with a non-stock one. So make sure you restore your stock gallary3d.apk if you ever replaced it.

Does the update fix the HID Bluetooth issue?

Ive always used my tab over WiFi and I just tried to update the profile, prl and firmware, but no luck.
Anybody have thoughts as to why it says Fail?
I am rooted with z4root btw

read my other comment in ur other post.
OTA updates work just fine on WIFI only. I use my tab as WiFi only.
The Update Firmware/Profile features do not work on settings app if u use wifi only, but your not missing our on anything trust me.
You will see the OTA update soon, leave your WiFi on, and eventually other the next couple days youll see it.
If you want it now, jus download the file and install it. Its much easier, no need to wait.

I shut the tab down and booted it up again, the update showed up.
The new widgets are great . Thanks for the prompt response

anytime.
Noticed Changed (Myself):
- Darker Hues, The previous bright blues are now Darker dull blues
- Widgets (3 new ones)
- Ram Management App
- Task Manager
- Clearing ram seems to free up a little bit more now.
- Ram seems to be used a little less
- Boot Logos (HORRIBLE SPRINT LOGOS, YUCK, I want my samsung logo back)
- Breaks root, z4Root does not work - use SuperoneClick
- GPS locked into my location Noticably faster in the same spot INSIDE my house within 10 seconds, where it usually takes anywhere from 30-40seconds. Who knows. Maybe just a coincidence?

I like some of the changes.....subtle, but tasteful.
I uninstalled z4root since u mentioned it broke root, but superuser is still present nor can I uninstall it....
U mentioned superoneclick, where could I fund that and do you even recommend rooting again? I ask because I feel like us sprint tab owners are left behind and there aren't really many upsides to being rooted at this point.....no quality roms are anything. What are u rockin? Thanks again

There's a really annoying bug after this OTA update. The notification drawer pull down animation is now very choppy. Also, if there's anything animated going on when you pull down the drawer the frame rate will drop dramatically. This is a real step back; it used to be perfectly smooth.

Since I ran the update this a.m., I seem to be stuck in USB debugging limbo. It's grayed out and the green check mark is on but feint, so I can't seem to use the SuperOneClick app.
Any ideas?
I was previously rooted but that went away. Also, I forgot... how do I reset the darn thing? TIA

I had notification it was downloaded, but when i went to apply it, the upgrade failed. My Tab is very stock, though I do have Z4Root installed (though, like my Evo, Z4 never did work.)

Market issue?
Has anyone else noticed a difference in the market after the OTA update? Searches on known apps come up blank.

I have z4root and the update went though on mine just fine.

it might not of installled, check your about my galaxy tab under the settings app. is it EA24?

The Update failed to complete, but it unrooted my Tab and Z4root fails to complete the operation when run.
Real nuisance I can yell you!
I see someone reckons SuperOneClick will work. I haven't got around to linking my Tab to a PC and it appears thats the only way to get the proggy to work??
cheers

HA!!! I just check and it looks like it didn't take!!! Well there you have it. Now Im curious if the update will show again. Hmmm.....
Also, manual install will not work....

It failed for me on the ota and manual,
It failed due to first, wpa_supplicant i switched from the stock to the one that suppoorts adhoc. So i put the stock one back. Then i tried it again and it said buildprop error.
I looked into that and it was cause i changed the lcd density of the stock from 240 to 180. So i changed it bak.
Then it worked.
Also if you changed any of the stock software it will fail as it verifys the correct files before update.

DK28 Regressions

I figure it be a good place to try and list all the regressions in behavior we see in DK28.
can be used to list them / point out what changed and why its not really a regression, just have to change what we do.
I've noticed two things so far
1) Can't dial by last name in on screen keypad dialer, just first name. This is somewhat annoying (especially as my friends last names are more distinct than first names)
2) missing all my "other" calendars in calendar app. (i.e. I have facebook exported that way, along with holidays and some other stuff). Also doesn't let me select individual calendars that I want to list. I believe this might have a backup/restore issue. Just reset my phone and haven't restored anything from backup and have all my calendars.
This also seems to impact agenda widget. For some reason calltrack does work Part of me assumes I'm doing something wrong here.
Update:
Other regressions: (reported and verified by independent source)
3) Mediahub no longer works (requires you to update it from Market, but can't be found): noted: 12/5/2010 by jwhisl (Orbiting234: probably related to Market not recognizing DK28)
4) No way to prevent GPS data from being included in EXIF of Pictures if GPS is on: noted 12/5/2010 by styckx
One odd thing I noticed was with Dolphin browser. When holding the back button to bring up the exit menu it used to vibrate when it popped up. Now it does not. It still vibrated before I upgraded to froyo.
I know it is a little thing any meaningles but it threw my whole operating habits out of wack.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
I've noticed that the Mediahub application no longer works. When I launch the app it tells me to install an update then sends me to the market. Unfortunately the market cant find the download I need so I cant watch any of my purchased media. The phone is also telling me that the media type is not supported.
Installed dk28 via zip and hard reset device to fix audio, camera, and memory card issues
might anybody have the update in apk or zip format?
Ok, this one is pissing me off. It seems you can no longer disable gps data getting lumped into you camera pictures.
Becareful! Turn off gps entirely unless you want you photos exif data containing your location.

I can use 4G in NYC, though I do notice when I reboot the phone that a similar thing happens, I just attribute it to be doing to omuch processing.
Besides Media Hub update not being found in marketplace, Car Home and Desk Home apps are unable to be found in the market either. Will probably all be worked out once DK28 is properly recognized by the market for these particular apps.
anyone notice the auto complete isn't working and only recognizes names in the contact list?
It failed my test. Just like the previous leaks, last.fm skips and jitters when browsing the web and playing music at the same time. As a matter of fact, music skips any time I do anything thqat even moderately taxes the cpu. My Evo does fine under the same conitions. Why, Samsung, why?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I'm kind of hoping that this is still a beta version and not final cause it still has some flaws compared to ecclair. I made a thread in the Developement forum about the problems I am having with dk28.
Slow rotation
Slower frame rate on notification drop down
Browser choppiness and checker boarding
etc.
media hub is an exclusive samsung galaxy app
some of the dk25 roms have nexus one signatures in the build.prop that is why is doesn't show it

It seems to be putting my location in there even with gps off. I had to turn off the wifi location also just to get it to stop.
I downloaded the zip file last night when it was first posted on here. I had stock rom, changed the file name on my phone to update.zip, moved it to root folder, did the recovery and update. Everything is fine and I'm on froyo 2.2.1 now. I'm try to replicate the problems you guys are having, but I can't. The only problem I can replicate is the checkered box when zooming in and out. My hardware is .5 and I just bought the phone last month. I got my wifes at the same time and hers is doing just fine as well. Do you guys think that even though my hardware is .5 that there could be some differences in the phone since everything is still working better then 2.1 for me and my wife?

other issues i've noticed:
-new text message alert does not disappear when the text is viewed, only when text is entered as response.
-browser gradient at top (right below notification/status bar) disappears when scrolling and pops back on once done scrolling
-swype sucks after update
-browser does not auto hide keyboard once completed text imput and window refreshes
-as noted, the geotagging data on the pictures cannot be prevented even with gps off
all of these, on top of an ugly messaging app have caused me to do a complete factory reset just to get rid of the issues. i never had problems with 2.1 so i guess i'll stick with it until the final release.

you're able to dial from the dialer with someone's last name?
i.e. You have a Friend Joe Smith, you press
7 (for s)
6 (for m)
4 (for i)
...
and you get your friend joe smith? I just have it matching first name.

Last name doesn't work. I have to do it by first as well. Very annoying if you have more than two friends with the same fist name. That's the only one I can replicate.

Check your Swype Settings. [Speed vs. Accuracy] may be tuned for speed. Slide it over to the right and it should work better.
After using this for 8hrs now. I've come to the conclusion this release sucks a bag of .....
Crappy keyboard lag, last.fm skipping, the captivate buttons responsiveness has changed (for the worse), delayed screen rotation, camera writing exif gps data unless you disable gps and wireless location.
Overall this just runs and feels like pure junk. I was never one demanding and frothing for 2.2 and I'm glad I have backups of my 2.1 install and will be going back to it. I liked 2.2 at first until I really got to feeling it out.
Sure GPS is fixed but they screwed up 10 things in its place.

+1 on this sentiment. I am not having any issues like this. Now this is not a regression, but I noticed that there is still the cell standby issue that requires airplane mode toggle. I find that glitch to be really frustrating.

Galaxy Tab P-1010 WiFy only

If you are frustrated with Samsungs total lack of support for this new device let me share with you some solutions that will make you change your mind about how you feel about your new Galaxy Tab WiFy only.
First; Root it!!!
Download the z4Root App and do it with one click........painless and you are set free and on your way.
Second; Download One Click Lag Fix from the Market ,
this is a magical app for this Galaxy Tab , it unlocks its full potential. Thank you Ryan!!! Give him a raise please!
Just make sure BEFORE you run the app move ALL of your apps from the SD Card and place them back on your device, you can move them back to the SD Card after you run the app if you like. If you try and run this app with apps on the SD Card you will send your device into a boot loop so please make note of this.
Result; Snap and Speed Clocked 1900 on Quardrant, smooth scrolling and blazing speed browsing this has become a completely different device , I now love this Galaxy Tab and I am going to keep it!
Doesn't show in the market for me
one click lag fix app
if you search one click lag fix in the Market in comes up as RyanZA OCLF, this is the app you want for a very small price well worth it!
Could not find z4Root in the market but there should be a thread here in XDA or search it on your device and direct download the apk file
It's Wifi, not Wify.
you definitely do NOT need to pay for OCLF. it's widely available for free on the web.
also, i noticed no difference after OCLF (benchmarks don't mean **** for actual device usage), so I uninstalled it.
the app's needed

when looking for z4Root search for z4root
PS.... i would post links but cant till i hit the 8 message spam thing ill PM person who started the topic to see if he can include the files

u should be able to go to menu, settings, applications, manage applications then find skype and unistall
but to answear ur question directly when u install z4root and open the app it will say root,
if its already rooted u should see re-root or undo root..
Thanks
After rooting look for Skype to uninstall but not there. The issue is that if installed then uninstalled Skype seems to leave, based on other board comments, that residual Data file and thus can't be reinstalled. My understanding is that once rooted one can then locate that hidden file and delete it so can reinstall Skype but this doesn't seem to be the case, does it? I can't find that file.
When Temp rooted and restart z4Root it does offer an Re-root option so (now using V1.3) it has been rooted.
Perhaps there is a difference in rooting between Temp & Permanent but wouldn't think so
Appreciate your help

Xperia play update 4.0.a.2.368

So i just updated my phone to 4.0.a.2.368 and i noticed a lot of really nice changes. Since there aren't any official notes (or at least not ones i can find) i will be posting changes i noticed here along with personal opinion on some of them without a particular order...
xLOUD-The soundspeaker loudness is greatly increased and the sound is so much better.
Media Player-When you play a song the backround of the player changes to a color most noticable in the album art
-looks great
Infinity Button Upgraded-You can now search for artist on wikipedia, lyrics on google and karaoke videos on youtube.
-Finally the button is useful
Lock Animation-It is changed to an old-style tv turn off
-It looks great and kinda gives nostalgia
App Refresh on Reboot-Before i updated my phone every time i rebooted it I had to let it ''sit'' for 5 minutes so it loads all the apps from the sd card and if you opened the menu you would have to reboot it again...but now it shows an icon on every non-loaded app that quickly refreshes to give the real app
-yes yes yes my brother always said its the worst thing about this phone so now i can rub it in his face
Themes-Basically like wallpaper but changes the background of some apps like Messaging
Messaging-Now it opens up so much faster and has a different boot animation
Call handling-You can now manage what calls you receive and block
-I was always wondering why wasn't this already included,i mean all my older phones have it
Timescape-Doesn't freeze when you move the widget and scrolls a lot smoother,in addition Extension Manager has been added so you can get more content to Timescape from more sites and you can also see calls and messages.
Wireless Radio-It seems like its power is increased and you don't get disconnected from older routers altho i haven't been able to test this longer than 30 minutes.
Status switch Widget-The old 4x1 has been replaced with a new 3x2 one
-It looks ugly and it messed up my perfect widget arrangement
Weather widget-Pretty self explanatory
-Now i can delete space-consuming Weatherbug
Favorites and Recent Calls Widget-Also self explanatory
-Its huge but i guess it is useful and at least looks nice
Be sure to add stuff you notice and i will update more stuff tomorow
Be sure to say thanks...as you can see I'm a noob and a pioneer from my country
Already a thread about it. ;-)

Bad news for me, the OTA udpate fails on the fourth dot.
Does this mean I deleted an app that it checks to see if you are on stadard build>? Do I have to go back to Uk Generic and root then ota?

Bad news for me, the OTA udpate fails on the fourth dot.
Does this mean I deleted an app that it checks to see if you are on stadard build>? Do I have to go back to Uk Generic and root then ota?
thank in advance

Try it one more time. But did you delete a stock app? I just froze all of mine and the update was fine.

My fails to update as well should I unroot first then update?
@nelly_boy & Xplay. If you have uninstalled anything from your phone after rooting. The ota update will fail.
As you have said nelly_boy you will have to reflash to 2.3.2 to get the stuff you deleted back then root then do the ota to get 4.0.a rooted.
@Xplay. You dont have to unroot to ota update. The whole point of updating using ota is to keep root.
How about the camera and video recording? Any improvement?
Thanks

That will be in the 2.3.4 update.
But I believe they enabled stereo sound recording for video.

took i'd say 20 mins
I saw this morning that samfirmware had a new European firmware for the tab, at least we are moving in the right direction.
Will have to check this out at the weekend.

Arrived on mine too about a hour ago and I'm not impressed! Swiftkey and browsers are making it a mare to get them to work together, still having problems editing text boxes too - it still won't place the cursor where you press! Where the hell is ICS Samsung?
The OTA update failed for me, doing it via Kies now. Is it because I have rooted?
Downloaded and just installing now. Will let you know how it goes.
Just finished installing and everything seams fine. Should i do a factory reset people?
Installed through Kies and it worked. Lost root and CWM recovery but that's simple to get back. Now the wait for ICS begins lol
still odd behaviour even after a reboot, quick reply on this site doesn't work full stop! Anyone else got this?
Got the update last night, everything working for me fine. Bit annoyed Google Books is now preinstalled but I can live with it. I noticed Kobo Book reader was also installed so got rid of that and another couple of new apps i have never heard of.
Is it advisable to do a factory reset as others have suggested?
upgraded to 3.2 today
Thanks to this thread I saw the upgrade was available and just upgraded
I have looked for the upgrade regularily.. then stopped as i got bored of looking.
Interestingly I didn't get the over the air notification that it was avialable like I did for the last upgrade.
I'm on a Vodafone supplied GT7500
First impression after an hour : very minor functional changes, minor aesthetic changes, reasonable speed improvement.
I have a lot of background apps, adw launcher with 9 screens full of widgets so my tab was starting to get pretty laggy. Now its significantly better.
First post on xda -thanks to all those who have put info on here

Sound great! ..
Is there any advise on how to get the UK 3.2 update? .. I bought my P7500 Tab while in the US, and i think it eventually turned out to have a Brasilian rom on it.. At this moment of time I have P7500XWKK4
Base Version P7500xxKK2

Download the latest official p7500XX firmware (not sure which is the latest official) from here and use odin to flash. Do a factory reset after flashing.
Download the CSC Select app off the Market after flashing and choose XEU. This will also factory reset your device so dont customise it yet and cancel any automatic market downloads.
This thread is about the p7510 as it has just received the 3.2 update whereas the p7500 has had 3.2 for a month or two.
Hope this helps

This was the first release of the 3.2 XEU for P7500 in the UK also.
My impressions after a full wipe:
1) The screen is noticably more sensitive and accurate.
2) Reader's Hub is included.
3) AllShare's included.
3) Loaded with a ton of apps and widgets the UI's a lot more fluid.
4) The UStrings stays on "desktop" once it's set.
5) The browser's less clunky
5) The page top/bottom bounce has been replaced with the blue glow.
6) The Gallery's different.
7) Minor cosmetic tweaks.

The UAString sets the browser as desktop or mobile.
I have just done the over the air update, download was just under 100Mb and the update took about 1/2hour with the tablet turning off completely and me having to turn it on holding the power for a few seconds, then it sat at the Samsung logo for ages before eventually starting up.
Initial impressions are very good.
Much smoother, even when the free RAM is low
Haven't tried live wallpapers yet!
The Memo app is better for finger input, faster response, almost there
Sketchbook Pro drawing app is still a bit slow in drawing
AntiPaper is also slow at drawing, compared with Memo - weird
Browser is much improved, more accurate touch, smoother scrolling though still a bit of a rubber band in content catching up with my finger movements when scrolling
New update to Google Books but still no highlighting, definition, notes like they have in the Chrom Google Books App - I suppose it will come eventually
A few issues for me, can someone check these as I may have to root, titanium backup and factory reset...
The default Video Player doesn't open
Samsung Hub doesn't open and hangs
EDIT:
Last night the tab rebooted itself and since then the default Video Player has been operating as normal !!!
Just a warning to anyone who is using titanium. Copy all the folders you want to keep, including titanium, on your pc.
If you do a factory reset (recommended) after flashing, as I did yesterday, you will lose *everything* on your sdcard. I had an old backup from November on my pc, took me hours to bring everything back to date. And I lost all my progress on a couple of games.... *grumble*.
Otherwise I agree it's a definite improvement. And I liked how they finally fixed honeycomb bar, now it disappears nicely when watching videos, so I don't have to use an extra app as root to hide it.
It has also arrived in Norway

[Q] How to stop the update?

My phone is presenting a popup every few minutes wanting me to install the software update. The only options are to delay it to a certain time or to install it right then. I can also just close the notice, but it will be back a few minutes later. I want to stop the intrusive notification of the update and I can not find a setting that will specifically do that. Can anyone help? Thanks!
I don't want the update because I have a Note 3 without call quality problems or any other issues at all. There are people complaining, (especially on the Verizon website), that the update has caused issues. One example: "now my phone wont hold a consistent signals with fluctuations from 1x to 3g to LTE.This happens in spots where i would be able to hold a LTE signal but now goes to 3g or 1x. This didnt happen until this update yesterday."
Because my Note 3 is perfect as is, I do not want the update for now. But, I also do not want a popup every few minutes that only gives me the choice of installing now or at a specific later time.

You can't if you're on stock unrooted. If you're rooted you can use Titanium Backup to freeze the 2 apps that check for the updates (Software-update v3_1308_2_1 and Software-update v6_1308_3_1).
OK, thanks. Frustrating since I have what I consider a perfect phone right now and would like to not take a chance on the update changing that.

Ow okay, that's the exynos version right? Then I can't be of help. I own the snapdragon SM-N9005 version and rooted with VEGA, but that's snapdragon only I believe...
You can disable one of the "firmware update" apps without root this might stop it
Preferences -> manage applications -> software update vX

Don't know about exynos or anything. It is what came with the phone on the pre-order shipment.

I looked at the "All" tab and I don't have that in the list. Only thing I see where the name of the app seems to be related to updating is the "SamsungHub Updater".

Pull down notification bar and long press "Update Notification" --> Choose *App Info --> Now tap *Force Stop
Voila, notification should have gone (I did this yesterday to my phone (N9005) and it haven't come back, yet.
I believe (haven't tested as in fact I don't care) if you reboot phone after this, notification comes back. Or if you manually check for updates from settings. But so what if you can do that again to get it off
Reply to us did it work for you
Find the Software Update application in Application Manager, and Clear Data.
This removes the pending update. Be sure to disable updates afterwards.

I just ran TiBackup and have not found any such apps as Software update. Maybe you're thinking of a com.something line?

On my rooted N900V it's called SDM and forcing stop didn't last but I froze it with Ti. We'll see...
This works. And no more updates have been sent
