had a similar issue which...i had to send my hd to htc, the mother baord was replaced,, make sure u turn bak to stock rom inorder for it to be under warranty
tc
Please check the following:
Unplug your device. Turn off (no standby, turn completely off by long-pressing the power button) your HD and start into bootloader mode (hold down the volume down key while pressing the power button). You should now see a screen with four coloured bars in the background (red, green, blue and white, if I'm correct). Wait a few seconds until it reads "serial" at the bottom. When it does, connect your HD to a USB port - if your USB port still works, it should switch from "serial" to "USB"! After connecting, wait a few seconds as the PC might install some drivers first...
If it doesn't switch to "USB" I would guess that your device has a hardware fault...
Good luck! Crossing my fingers!

not really much help, but why isnt your phone under waranty?
afaik, the touch HD didnt come (to the UK atleast) till around nov/dec 08 - less than 12months.
also, didn't you think about insuring the HD - not exactly a cheap phone?
-change USB cable - faulty?
-check 'charge via USB' is set on the phone - this wouldnt affect mains charging though
-hard-reset phone
-remove all devices from the phone (sim, battery, SDcard), leave overnight, and try to see if it will charge again in the morning
Charging when Switch off But not charging or syncing whed on
removed all devices from the phone (sim, battery, SDcard), leave overnight, and try to see if it will charge again in the morning
This Trick Worked for Me to Some Extent
Now I can Charge Blackstone By Using usb cable connected to pc but only when the mobile is switched off
When Switched on it doesnt charges
And also It doesnt sync with the pc
Plzzz Help to overcome the next step out
U R the MASTER.....Atleast for me and my blackstone
Waiting for Reply
Your phone may not sync with pc as your usb drivers may need updated. Also check that usb connections has been activated in activesync connection settings

You may wish to try this. Go to system settings, power settings and make sure you have unchecked "when device is turned on, do not charge the battery when connected to the PC".

Upgrade may fix it
i think if we assume it software(driver actually) error the reflashing to original rom or upgrading may fix this(as i have tried hard resetting)
just requiring urs opinion and the way to upgrace in this condition
thank plzzzz reply
When in bootloader does bottom of screen say 'usb' or 'serial' when connected to pc? Have you updated drivers on your pc? Have you tried using a different usb cable? When connected to either usb or charger, does LED at top of phone turn on? Changing rom shouldn't affect this, so I don't see a reason for flashing a new rom just for this.
Same issue
I had the same problem, sent the fone for warranty, which is replaced now..............
Ok but i want to just know can i upgrade or not

My name is carlos and im new in the forum.
This is my problem. I have an HTC Imagio. I tryied to update it but i fail because my phone wont turn on again. I dont know what can i do because I new in the htc world and I dont know how can I start.
Please heeeeeeelpppppp meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Please provide some more details: Does it power on at all? Is it stuck on a certain screen? Please describe what's going on.
Look, the phone doesnt turn on, it cant enter to the soft-reset or the hard-reset. When I pluged to the computer, I can heard an a disconected sound (like, when you disconect a usb). The computer recognize it as an a Damage Dispositive. I didnt try charge the battery in a universal charger yet, but thats it all the info that I can give you.
I hope you can have an a solution
So, have you tried to charge the phone yet?
When you plug it in, either to the wall charger or to a computer through a USB cable, does the little red light come on?
With the battery charged and turning the phone on, does it do ANYTHING?
If it truly will not do ANYTHING, you most likely DO have a dead phone - but this is not a common occurance.
when I had trying to charge the phone on the wall, the red light wont come on.
I think that I would like to try with a universal charger. Do you have any other method to fix my problem??
What did u flash? A Hspl or an rom/radio image? If u charge the batery with universal charger, and u pres volume down an power does the device enter in a tricolor screen?
Unbrick
Unbrick a phone just can be made with JTAG tools...

Have you tried soft reset (red button next to the battery) and volume down? This should have take you directly to the ROM installation boot screen... or whatever they call it these days. If that does happen you can plug it into the computer and install the MR1 or MR2 update..

I looked through similar threads but have found no solutions.....
My TMOUS HTC HD2 randomly stopped charging, even when plugged into a wall charger or computer. No orange light even displaying when hooked into the charger when powered off. I have bought a new battery and charger and still doesn't work.... Whats weird is that there is usb connectivity (only using MAGLDR v1.1 with an android NAND android rom installed in usb android flasher mode). I am guessing this is a hardware issue so i am trying to return it to stock, the only problem is that windows mobile device center 6.1 x64 on my windows 7 desktop will not recognize/sync with my HD2..
I would like to return it to stock so i can send it into HTC for repairs (if possible)
I would really appreciate any possible help
hold the volume down button when turning it on. You should see a screen with 3 colors. At that point, you can flash stock.
I have done this but the only problem is that the computer wont recognize it and the phone stays in "serial mode".
Any thoughts?

Hi, I have HTC X7500 with a very serious problem. It has SPL 1.20 Olipro. The thing is that it can't get to windows mobile. When i plug it in the USB the trackball gets red and if I take the battery out and the in in turns yellow and the device gets into 3-coloured mode. It's not detected also by the computer. What can I do? Is there anyway to get everything back to normal, to restore original ROM ot firmware, wahtever it's called? Thanks!
?dead battery?

Hi Sharky.
I would hazard a guess and say the battery is stuffed.
The battery is renowned for having problems getting good contact so the first thing I would do is leave it off and plug it into the wall charger then fiddle with the battery to make sure it is making contact and charging.
If it gets to geen light then try booting.
If not ,it is then possible to flash from SD card.
Let me know how you go.
If the battery is out, I can't do anything, the LED is always RED. If the battery is in, the LED is still RED, but sometimes I can get into bootloader (3-coloured screen). What's the thing with the flashing from SD card?

I just checked on my old athena.
When it is turned off and plugged in the light is orange untill it is fully charged and turns green.
If the battery has a poor connection it stays red.
I have an old battery that doesn't work and the light stays red.
So I would say you have a poor connection to the battery or the battery is dead.
I would not attempt to flash anything till you have a functioning battery.
Yeah, thanks, I've finally managed to reinstall ROM and the light when the battery is in is now orange. But I have another problem: when I plug in the USB cable the device gets gets very slow and freezes sometimes. Also the WiFi isn't working, but the bluetooth does so I think it's a software, not hardware, problem. Can you give me link to the original athena (x7500 advantage) ROM so that I can try with it. And one last thing: when I plug it in the computer via USB, Windows 7 doesn't seem to recognize the device, the Windows Mobile Device Center can't connect to the device. I appreciate your help till now and I hope you'll continue helping me to solve my problems. Cheers!
the corrupt wifi is a known issue wiith upgrade problems
this is the fix
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2154726&postcount=33
have a look through the wiki for various files
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Athena
a lot of the links don't work anymore
also have a look at the stickies in the upgrading section and doing a search using variations on your question usually finds an answer
ps
this phone was originally released when xp was the main OS so try finding an old laptop that uses this if you want to upgrade to AP4 to get SPL 3.5.
Have a read of the beginners guide as well
cheers
I've tried that fix but it doesn't help. It's obviously hardware, so I'm taking it to the service. Thanks anyway!
Hello every one,
When I plug my Omnia 7 with my laptop, it appears the message "USB Device Not Recognized. Unknown Device (Code 43)." I have tried different ways posted in this forum but non of those worked. I tried to restart my pc, plug off battery, hard format my phone, tried in different laptops, and the other methods, but non of those worked.
I need help please if anyone could tell me what to do I would appreciate.
Try reinstalling zune, maybe even reinstalling sammy usb drivers.
Sent from my OMNIA7 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
I have to say .... we can spend hours understanding these windows phone
I do not know why a windows phone cannot be synced with a windows computer. Am having the same problem. My device appears as unknown device in Device Manager. I tried to update the drivers from Zune folder, but it does not find the correct drivers there. Any help would be so appreciated.
Thanks a lot.
i had the same problem in my omnia 7 very recently.
followed the below steps now it si working
Reset the phone
Restored the back up i had (older version)
upgraded to latest version 7.10 (8773)

Shows charging icon (even if cable is removed), and notification sound coming continuosly,
as of now i am living with it in Vibration mode

All you can do is to cross your fingers and pray
Cause mine started working one day out of no where .... so i think with MicroSoft products, everyithing is based on pure luck
I think I can help - it may be the BATTERY!
Hi - I stumbled on this thread by accident but had a very similar problem - I will look up the Whirlpool thread where I wrote about it as it was a while ago - but similar symtoms all fixed by replacing battery. _ i dropped my Ominia briefly into water.
Here's what I wrote in Whirlpool forum on 2011-Oct-31 (can't post link as new member) Thread Title "Samsung Omnia 7 i8700 - Part 2"
My beloved Omnia 7 took a very quick dip in the pool on the weekend. Life lesson learnt: "Do not put phone in top pocket as it will fall out."
Anyhow I grabbed it straight away and turned it off – dried it off etc – I was amazed it booted and runs BUT things are not good.
Phone works normally (all functions, wifi, apps, OS etc.) on external charge either AC or PC USB
Phone works normally on battery, but it keeps playing an alert chime, will not sleep, and in Settings / Battery Saver it flashes on this screen and it does not sleep as whatever its alerting on prevents idle.
Goes to sleep when on AC/USB charge.
After plugging into AC/USB, and unplugging from AC/USB, phone runs normally, believes it is being charged, does not play alert chime, but does not sleep
Does not interface with PC via USB plug into USB causes USB Device not recognised (tried different cables/PCs)
Does enter download mode, but USB not available.
At a long shot, it may be the battery. I know I could buy online (risk it won't be the issue). All I need to do is a quick battery swap test but need a spare battery.
WHAT A MESS. Let me know if you are a Brisso and wouldn't mind sharing your battery for 5 mins....
If replacing battery fixes the problem then GOD knows what Engineering Samsung/Microsoft is upto

I had the same prob here and windows can not recognize my Omnia 7 any more after it caught rain.
I had the same problem on my Windows 7 (64 Bit)
Unknown usb Device , lot of posts have found and at the end it was USB-Cable !!!
The problem was in the length of the cable, with long (1m cable) i can flash but no connection over Zune, after i take cable from my Nokia 15 cm short cable it works without any problems.

What Windows are you using, do you have original ROM on your Omnia ?
For example if you are using some other rom than original , that there you have changed settings for USB port (In Diagnose Mode you can check this)
I am on original German T-Mobile ROM, exact same issue, no cure for now. Looks like an end of life for old good Omnia ...
But I did force update both 8112 and 8773 yet before ZUNE actually suggested the update .So not really in a position to complain.
But if anybody here did a "fully legal" ZUNE update (no flash no forced) then it means that the update itself is a problem and MS / SAMSUNG are responsible (not that it ever changed). Did anyone on OEM ROM with the issue upgrade in a fully clean way ?
Just now noticed - this is similar to the problems mentioned in another 2 threads hot here - just in another case people experienced only annoying "alert ringing". Looks like some of us get hit more severe, others less. XDA gurus - PLEASE spend time on this ! This looks as a massive desease case, last hope is XDA.

UPDATE : after all, this was not software related issue. USB port got rust, 70$ to replace it - all troubles gone, connects to PC and no alarm.

Hi, are you still having problems with the 32B?
Does the phone start charging when you plug it in? Can your PC see it at all via USB?

It doesn't sound good
I don't know how much you care about this phone or whether you want to spend any money at all on it, but if you don't mind wasting time on a phone that's likely dead, you can try to narrow the problem down a bit.
If you have a battery tester, you can find out if the battery will hold a charge. It may be dead or damaged.
If you have any kind of battery that outputs 3.7V, you could try connecting it to the phone's +/- terminals with some wire. Most cell phone batteries are 3.7V, so it wouldn't be hard to find. Hooked up properly with a working battery, you can hook the phone to a charger or to your computer to see if it starts charging, and you can try to turn the phone on.
We're getting into the realm of miracles, so make sure to say your prayers.
Good luck.
*** Be careful with wires and batteries; don't leave the phone+battery+wires setup connected to a power source... unless you like fires.
