help! can't unlock vogue - Touch CDMA General

Hey guys, I've been playing with these phones for a while, I have had a Mogul, and this is my second touch I am working on. I cannot for the life of me get this to work, done tons of reading but am at my wits end.
Supposedly 2 GB cards work for flashing the vogue, right? Well when I try to, I take the Cokeman 2.31 unlocker, load it on 2 GB SD card as VOGUIMG.NBH, enter bootloader, but all that happens is it says "Loading...". Needless to say, nothing happens and it just goes back to the bootloader rainbow. I encountered this problem before and resolved it by using a 512 mb card, but I actually lost the card and cannot find it . It appears no one carries 512 mb cards anymore, because I've called Staples, Best Buy, Kmart, and they all don't have them smaller than 2GB.
So I decided to try via USB. I have win mo dev center setup, synced up, recognized. Open the RUU.exe, go through the steps. The RUU kicks it to the bootloader screen successfully, but when it comes up, the connection appears to be dropped, and the progress bar never starts to move, failed connection.
Any ideas at all would be greatly appreciated!

I know that you can flash from a 2gb card, but I am not sure that you can unlock from one. To unlock, I think you have to plug your phone into the computer and run it from there.
And on the computer, I think it takes time. Maybe try and just be patient.

Per his instructions, you are supposed to be able to unlock with Cokeman's unlocker. I think it just doesn't like my microsd card, because I've run into the same issue before and fixed it with the 512 mb. Just can't find another one of these things, damned stores only sell 2gb.
I'd give it all the time it needs, but it says usb connection failed. I think what I'm missing is the step where you disable USB connections in WMDC / activesync. Any idea at what dialog box you must do that? Cokeman's instructions are so general hard to tell when.
Thanks!

are u sure your card is formatted to fat32?
EDIT: also to use the 2.31 unlocker you must already have a gps radio installed

unfortunately yes, I'm positive. I've even tried reformatting it to be sure. I woudl even reformat it to 512 mb if that would make it work =/

radio 3.42.30 its a brand new replacement i just got

farthest I can get on USB is load the RUU, recognizes the phone and rom version, it boots the phone to the bootloader, and at that point the usb connection is lost, and never returns to the pc. Phone sits there on rainbow screen saying "Serial" and pc says usb connection lost error. :-/

vista or xp?
rom flashing works better in xp rather than vista

vista is my only option at this point

any ideas why it doesnt see the usb connection after it reboots to bootloader?

Ok so here's the latest:
Last night I tried it again.
This time I realized why I wasn't getting the dos prompts: I was running the RUU directly rather than running the actual unlocker file. It appears tho, that the unlocker is incompatible with 64 bit systems, it returns the message before I even get to the RUU step that certain programs are not compatible with 64 bit. So it looks like I must somehow find a 32bit machine.. unless I can find a way to run compatibility mode.
Thanks again guys!
oh and ps whoever said you can't unlock from a microsd card was right, I got a 512 mb card finally and that didn't work for the unlocker

advantage appears bricked....please help

well after much reassurance that it was pretty foolproof...my advantage appears bricked! i download olipros athenaunlocker.zip and extracted the exe file. followed all the steps and directions, the first part went flawlessly, flash spl without a hitch, then it came back to the second step, i went to unlock the radio, advantage was in a white screen with loading..... on it. and i get an error message that there is no connection to the pda...would i like to try reconnecting.... it would not reconnect for anything, for one activesync was now not connected, and i am 100% sure it was when i clicked step 2 to unlock the radio. had to pull battery on advantage to get it shut down, no buttons would work. now i hit power button and the lights turn green, but nothing further. The athena unlocker program is waiting at step 3 on my computer, but i cannot get my advantage to boot up at all, so i cant get a valid connection to either restart the process, or continue with step 3...please help! I consider myself very computer literate, just not specifically with cell phones.
tried hard reset
i tried a hard reset, and it came up with the rgb lines, and then it asked me if i wished to do the hard reset, which i said yes, then it asked to format the microdrive, and i said yes. It then said to hit the power button to reboot the machine, i tried and it just rebooted with black screen and the green light on the jog stick.......need some advice on what to do next...please help
sorry for so many replys but i just wanna give all the possible information...i think i got into the bootloader, but i have no idea, i pushed reset, camera and comm manager and got the rgb lines, and it says this
Athe100
IPL-v2.02
Athe100
SPL-v1.20.Olipro
Thats what I got, when i plug in usb connection it changes text at the bottom from serial to usb, and then back to serial when i unplug the usb cable, but i cannot get an activesync connection.....please advice as to if I should restart the athena unlocker, or what I should do now that im at this screen.

Looks like you have already unlocked. I can see Olipro's name your your screen. This mean you device is still okay. Once you're in the bootloader mode, I believe the next thing you have to do is simply connect the usb cable and run the Rom Update Utility on the desktop. That's it.
if the status changes to usb on connection then you should be fine. connect the handset in bootloader mode and wait a few seconds, then run pk's black rom. because your spl has evidently been pached you should have no problems unbricking your phone. let us know how it goes, and don't panic!
Thanks for the reply eaglesteve (edit and Leoni)...now just to be sure, currently, my athena unlocker program ( 3 part ) is resting still on waiting for the 3rd part, flashing the radio. now step 2, which was unlock radio gave me the error, so do i just continue with part 3 flash radio, or are you saying that it appears that part is done? Or should i just start with PK's rom next? as i type im still downloading pk's dual rom right now

the spl is patched, you're just not unlocked. if unlocking is not a concern then you should be ok just installing black touch. the problem you experienced is not uncommon and should you choose to run the unlocker again to finish the unlock fully you shouldnt have any problems. it might be wise to do this at some point just to make sure there are no problems with your radio.
edit - make sure that there is no memory card inserted in your device, this has been rumoured to cause issues when flashing. the same thing happened to me as happened to you, but since your device is now hard spl it is almost unbrickable, so fear not.
completed download of pk's rom, just a couple questions Bootloader mode is when you see olipros name and spl version with rgb lines right? In the zip file I have 4 exe files, enterbootloader, rapitool, romupdateutility, and ruugetinfo. Is there an order to running them? I would imagine they are all files to be ran from your PC, and not the advantage right? Just wanna get the steps right because i dont see any directions as far as completing the flash to pk's rom

I seem to recall that Olipro does not affect the radio ROM, and that if you see his signature on the bootloader, then you're fine. The radio upgrade is separately done - you can do it after the PK ROM flashing. If you're going for to flash a radio, you can download the files from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319993
Flashing the radio follows the same step. ie. get into bootloader, connect the usb, then run the RUU (RomUpdateUtility) on the PC.
run the rom update utility. everything else is initiated by that. and yes, make sure your device has the tri colour screen - red green blue - and says usb. you'll be fine my friend.

I think Leoni means it is not SIM unlocked. You don't need to be sim unlocked to safely flash a new ROM and radio, I believe.
Ok, im just gonna not worry about the radio portion, if you say it can be done later. So I still have my advantage at the rgb screen with olipros name and spl version. it says usb because its connected to my pc, whats the next step? in particular which exe should I run, i have 4 total in the rom zip file.
Well, I know that I purchased it off ebay, and it was advertised as factory unlocked...that means sim unlocked right?

$100 Reward if can fix my T8285

Long story short my phone worked fine for months. Went to a 1.56 Rom active sync stopped working. I have already tried everything associated with AS problem, everything. Went to get it repaired at HTC America in Houston, TX there gay and dont support T8285. I have tried flashing via memory card but I seem to be retarded doing it that way. Engineer said mini usb slot works fine, cooked rom may have corrupted AS. Customer service would not let him fix my phone because it was an "aussie version". I just want the phone to sync is that too much to ask? Anyway $100 bucks to anyone that can make it work paid via paypal immediately.

Personally I think your mad offering $100. I'm sure most people would have hepled you for free, including myself. I'm not after your money but offer my assistance.
Have you tried doing a hard reset? uninstalling activesync & reinstalling it?
Flashing different rom. If you can't flash through SD Card, have you tried flashing again via usb. You don't need phone sync'd
Put your phone into bootloader and then connect to pc via usb. At bottom of screen the text should change from 'serial' to 'usb'. Now flash phone by running rom (cooked or stock etc) you downloaded. Put .nbh and ruu file into same folder and then open ruu file and follow instructions.
I severely doubt cooked rom affected activesync.
EDIT
As bonesy said below, you'll need either USPL or HSPL to flash 1.56+ based rom.
Full tutorial or dummies guide to flashing 1.56+ based roms can be found in cRaCKwHoRe's guide. See my signature
Turn off your phone, Take out your memory card, Plug the miniUSB in then power on (Hold volume down press power holding volume down still) This will bring up a coloured screen. Run the ROM Wrapper package exe (BlackstoneRUUWrapper) This SHOULD now install the right ROM.
Please make sure you are using a 1.56 rom with the HSPL or i think it has problems with GFX.
When windows loads go to start>settings>connections>USBtoPC
this is on 6.5 rom not sure about 6.1 :/
Untick Enable faster data synchronizaion, I had to do all this on works computer to update a ROM god knows why but this was my fix.
ROM Should load as should activesync now.
Please let me know if this helps
Tried to post in ure original threads but mods were moving to trash each time BAH!
Thanks to both of you guys for your suggestions. I thought I was not a noob when it came to flashing roms but once I could not do it via usb I was a whole different story. Yeah I am offering the $100 just to get people to help. I know you get slammed if you ask a question so I figured I would make it worth someone's time. I am going right now to pick it up from the repair center so I will try during my lunch in about an hour.

Yeah I have been trying on my latop, home pc, and work pc and nothing same result. I have tried different usb cables, os, reinstalling, everything. Only thing I have not tried is flashing via sd card yet.
brick
its sounds like you have a corrupt spl, it is definately worth trying the sd card as it may allow you to activesync but it may then fallover when it reboots and goes into boot mode. This i where user viperbjk (see android dev thread) may be able to help as he has successfully managed to unbrick a phone.
I had this same problem but powering down and simply triggering the and spl reflash resolved it. your problem sounds different though.

PC doesn't recognize (see) my phone

Hello,
I have a problem, when I connect my phone with the USB cable to my computer, it doesn't do anything. He don't recognize the phone, doesn't make any connection nor see the SD card.
I've already tried to clear the box: Enable faster data synchronization, and tried to choose Disk Drive (Faster file transfer), it all doesn't do anything.
Tried different PC's, with WMC and Active Sync 4.5, with different OS's.
The cable isn't broker or something because the only thing that happens when I connect the phone with my PC is that the orange light (battery charge) is on.
I've installed Shadowline ROM, but it did work with that rom (active sync and disk transfer).
I think it is a problem of the ROM tho, so is there any way to flash my ROM without using a PC?
Answers would be realy appreciated.
Thank you.

You can flash from the storage card, just rename the .nbh file to TOPAIMG.nbh and put on the root of your storage card, go to bootloader mode and it will flash.
Your cable can be bad and still charge. I would try a different cable.
Also try deleteing the partnership in Active Sync and try to reestablish it.
I assume you hard reset after you flashed the ROM.
I do not think its a ROM issue.
Ok thanks for your reply.
I did what you sad but when I loaded the TOPAIMG.nbh in the bootloader, it came up with an error and freezes on: Loading ...
When I restarted it It Only shows:

I am concerned that you screen shot shows SPL 1.83.00, but you have flashed Shadowline's ROM.
It should say SPL: 1.83.00Olinex which would mean you have HSPL installed which is absolutely required to flash a custom ROM.
Did you have that ROM operational and just couldn't sync, or has the device not worked since you flashed this ROM?
Yes, I had the shadowline ROM, and it al worked good. I also could connect my mobile to my pc with the USB cable.
I don't know what happend, I didn't install any other program or something else but I suddently couldn't connect my mobile phone to my pc anymore.
But I wanted another ROM because I noticed that the Shadowline ROM feld a little bit laggy, so I found out that you can do that by your booting with the SD card.
And I know that you have to install hardSPL first, so I downloaded that one from the big post in this ROM forum from Topaz.
Booted with the SD card, and then when I started to flash the ROM he gave an error and now I have to problem that I can't do anything anymore.

I guess my point was if you had Shadowlines ROM, you were already HSPL'd, no need to do again.
Hard reset the phone and try to install ROM from SD.
Hi,
i had once the same problem. No connection with PC anywhere. I couldnt do nothing with that and was quite desperate about that.
But once suddenly it came to work again. I am not sure what made it work again but the only thing I can guess was that I took out and gave back the memory card with the turned on phone. Since then I have never had this problem again.
I wish you that this taking out of memory card helped you too.
Well, If I'm hard resetting, the only thing he does is show the percentages, then he says completed, then he reboot en I'm back at the tri-color screen again.
And I can't enter the bootloader, so I also can't install the ROM from the Sd-card.
And taking out the memory card while the phone is on also dont work
Any other options what maby will work?

When you attempt to go into Bootloader, Holding Voume Down and Power buttons at the same time when phone is off, what screen appears?
[Q] my handset doesn´t recognize sd apps
I had the same problem as well, so I deactivated and reactivated the SD card from the phone, actually I cant take out the sd with the turned on phone. It worked once, but it happened again so i tried to the same but know the deactivate function in settings doesnt worked. Now i dont know what to do. if anyone could help me i would be very thankful.
My handset is a xperia x10 with 2.1 generic flashed bb 2.1.54, and 2.2 wolbreak gingerbread rom.

Hi,
i had once the same problem. No connection with PC anywhere. I couldnt do nothing with that and was quite desperate about that.
But once suddenly it came to work again. I am not sure what made it work again but the only thing I can guess was that I took out and gave back the memory card with the turned on phone. Since then I have never had this problem again.
I wish you that this taking out of memory card helped you too.

hspl flashed but roms wont. get error

I flashed the hspl but when i try to flash any rom it doesn't work. I am doing exactly what the instructions say i am using a tmobile usa hd2. the progress bar doesn't move the phone disconnects the colored screen stays and it never reads the phone after that.
start from bootloader. (Phone doesnt need to be fully booted and running, bootloader will do fine)
connect it to the PC, and wait for serial to become USB (should hear it 'bing' as it connects too) and then run customruu.exe (as administrator!)
Also be sure and try different usb ports. Especially if you have used mtty at all in the past.
If it doesn't connect to usb from bootloader, , , , well, , try a different pc?
Oh, and you didnt say what it says in bootloader next to 'spl' 2.08.0000? 2.08.HSPL?
just encountered the same problem. Make sure you are NOT using any sort of USB hub. plug the data cable directly from the phone to the usb ports that are on your motherboard. Also, after you get the HSPL installed, the handset will reboot. Once the system comes back up into windows. reboot once more. then run the flash process.
Worked like a charm for me.
This was also a problem with the Apache back in the day... which was a Wednesday by the way.

No need to let it restart, , , as it reboots, hold vol down to go straight into bootloader and then run customruu to flash.
lol sam. true. as per instructions you are supposed to let it sync with active sync. however this is only to prevent true n00bs from causing mischief
flashed using sd card. but i find the rom to be buggy. my keyboard inputs were jumpy after 2nd day of use. It is better now but it happened more than once and even after removing the battery.
I've had no problems flashing ROMs via Update Utility on my buddy's PC
HOWEVER, even after installing HSPL on my HD2, I'm unable to FLASH FROM SD. This is a huge problem for me as I don't have a PC and the only way for me to flash is by downloading the ROM, putting on SD, and flashing from bootloader. When I try to do this (vol + power), I get the bootloader screen, then see loading for a split second, then back to bootloader screen where it sits and nothing happens. It looks like the ROM isn't being loaded - I've tried about 6 different ROMs and reinstalling HSPL and the same thing happens each and every time.
Ideas?
@jabba
try different sd cards.lots of people report problems with cards bigger than 2gb.
format it fat 32 4096 block size.
do a full format not quick format.

This method does work. Funny how the 16gb MicroSD that came with the phone wont work though. I had to use a 2gb card.

[Q] HD2 Bricked? Can get to bootloader, BUT...

So my dad tried to flash another ROM on his HD2.
When you simply try to turn it on, it vibrates and the screen goes white and stays that way.
When you go to the bootloader, it looks like this:
http: //seven-days-later.de/bricked.jpg
(Sorry, I'm new here, and not permitted to post links.)
Any try to put any other ROM on it either fails with this, frozen:
http: //seven-days-later.de/freeze.jpg or the program doesn't even manage to connect via USB.
Flashing from SD either just won't work (the white screen lights up shortly and goes away, faster than I can see what it says) or exits with error '00028002 not allow', depending on the ROM we try to flash.
Our best guess is, since the device's internal name is not a valid identifier of an HD 2 (the strange characters on the first screenshot), the ROMs/bootloader doesn't allow them to be flashed. What do you think?
Does anyone have an idea how we can get the system working again?
Ok this is a new one for me, I have never seen this in bootloader before.
I will help you out with the links as others here need to see this, bricked.jpg and freeze.jpg.
Ok you say it will not show USB inm the white bar of bootloader, correct?
Do you have the latest version of ActiveSync (XP) or WMDC (Vista, Windows 7) installed on your computer? Go here if not or not sure. It has USB drivers for the HD2.
Do you know for sure you have a good USB cable?
When you tried to flash via SD card did you use a 4 gig or smaller SD card freshly formatted with a full wipe and Fat 32?
Also do you have a TMOUS (T-Mobile US) HD2 or a International HD2?
Edit: I see from the freez.jpg that you have a International HD2.
If installing the latest version of ActiveSync or WMDC gets USB in the white bar then down load HSPL 4 linked in my guide that I have klinked in my sig and install HSPL 3.03 then try to flash the ROM. You cas use HSPL to revert back to SPL if want once you have flashed.

looks like nand corruption... try redoing an original rom from sdcard
Seen this a few times,, corrupted deviceID meaning everything fails, including goldcard, since nothing recognises it as a hd2 so refuse to flash.
No advice for you, other than there are a few threads here with that issue, which you should hunt down and read (search for "corrupted device ID") and of course you should try everything, SD flash, goldcard, hspl,,,sadly I'm fairly sure none of them end well. I hope I'm wrong.
JTAG would maybe do it.

I am with Sam here on this one I think JTAG can correct the Device I.D. cause it has a direct connection to the NAND chip and allows you to run diagnostic software on the NAND chip then correct any problems as long as it is not any physical damage to the NAND chip.
PM me if you are interested in JTAG, I can put you in touch with someone that can do it and is a professional.
