Opera - Palm Treo Pro

Is it possible to get Opera working on the phone? The version on the diamond is very nice.

Yea, Opera does work.. It's downloadable...
Check their website.

Sweet. Opera Mobile is downloadable. I always thought they made you pay for it. Thanks!

Did you relly opened "get.skyfire.com" in PocketIE?
Opened with IE 6, gettin the "Locating.."
I installed the latest version on my Diamond but to be honest I am not too impressed by the resolution.
Is there a setting that enables vga mode? All the fonts and images look stretched as if it were QVGA, anyone else got this problem?
I think I might give this a try. Just wondering if anyone had any opinions when comparing it to Opera???
Here's the cab for you. If it will violate against the rights of the owner please feel free to delete that post (to mods) or tell me and I'll remove the cab.

Opera is FAR better as an everyday browser in my opinion.
I can see Skyfire being useful though, especially if browsing websites that have a lot of streaming media and flash. It's also quite good if you use sites like digg/reddit.
Facebook sucked and the homepage didn't render as it would on a PC so that was dissapointing, but I visit facebook using the iphone.facebook.com URL via Opera and that's quite good.
The application is supported by VGA devices like the Diamond, however, it certainly isn't optimised for VGA, as you will notice when you install and run it. The buttons look stretched, fonts don't look right and when zoomed out it looks quite pixelly
It's a good concept, however I feel that Skyfire has a way to go before it can compete with more stable browsers like Opera which is far more practical.

lol guess you were too greedy - always wanted the lastest build. may be try to uninstall the opera you added, to see if the old opera comes back.

nope! still did not work.maybe i'm doing something wrong.if i select the operaL.exe it opens but from the internet tab through touch flow when i click browse nothing happens.maybe its not finding the file! i'm not sure.hummmm
thanks for your response!
still not getting my opera to lunch.I downloaded the original opera files from here.placed them in the opera9 folder located in device/window etc.it would lunch from there but not the browser tab in touch flow.its driving me nuts!!! and I hate using internet explorer!lol ;o
suggestions?
cheers.
if operaL launches but tf3d doesn't, the problem is tf3d, not opera. install manila patcher (find it searching for SSMaPa). Init it: you don't need to patch anything, but you can see if something else has been connected with the globe in internet tab. If so, you can always re-enable opera via SSMaPa.(btw: i too did install last month the new build and then went back to the original, but had no such problems)
Can anyone tell me what version of Opera is this?
Thanks,

Opera and 'Pictures & Video' Question

1. What is your favorite version of Opera?
2. When using TF3D picture viewer, is there any way to zoom in more in the picture than what Dutty's version does? I used to have a Fuze, and all I had to do was draw a circle around the area I wanted to zoom in around...but it seems that with Dutty's Rom version, only double clicking on the picture (similar to Opera) is the only option to zoom in.
1. Opera 9.7 Beta with Opera Turbo!
Maybe im just being stupid, but if I install the opera beta is it a limited use period? Don't want to overwrite the final release version of 9.5 if i have no way of rolling back should i need to without hard resetting.

Opera 9.7 does not have a time limit and you should be able to revert back to Opera 9.5 by uninstalling 9.7 and reinstalling 9.5.
What ROM are you using? On mine (Topix), Opera 9.5 isn't even deleted when 9.7 gets installed: They both coexist peacefully...

Ahh excellent. Just when you go on the Opera website the only free download available is the 9.7 Beta.
And i'm using the stock Orange ROM. I'm too much of a chicken to flash a new one. The whole process scares me!

You can find Opera 9.5 many places, f. e. in Dutty's File Repository (you have to have an account and log in to see the files: http://duttythroy.net/download-area.html?func=select&id=36&orderby=2&page=2)

quite snappy indeed, too bad the hardware keyboard doesn't work with it.

Wow, it is ridculously smooth and fast.
I'm not impressed with it...

Flash still not working
yup.. looks like a softreset fixes everything! LOL except tilewave
It DOESN'T work on my X1!

The whole Opera doesn't work!
I just see a boot screen and than nothing happens!
I reseted the device, still nothing.
Installed again after uninstall and reset.
Nothing! WTF?!
So is this better than 9.5 (or 9.7)? Because it looks like Opera Mini... Can't try it now, maybe in a few hours...
I liked better the fullscreen browsing of the older versions and that you had the taskbar visible when you pressed the lower button to reveal the other controls...
still doesn't support flash
Works perfect on my X1i (incl. HW keyboard, which also works). Extremely fast browser. Does not have, or at least I did not find, the odd Opera 9.7 beta way of rendering some pages. Again 100 out of 100 score on Acid3 test (like Opera 9.7 beta).
I've tested some sites, and both the speed and the rendering quality are perfect.
The tab switching is done very nice too.
It does lack Flash support.
In contrast to Opera Mobile 9.7 beta, it does size the text width to fit to my X1's screen.
All in all, Opera Mobile 10 is a very nice browser, and maybe one of the fastest I've ever worked with (comparing to real browsers, not like Skyfire or Opera Mini).
I really want to test and see the browser but it doesn't work here!!!!
This is crazy!
SE X1. No faults, device working 100%.
Can anybody confirm that Opera 9.7 and 10 work together on the device or one of them has to be uninstalled??
Every app I installed has no problems here, are you aware of any possible conflicts on the device??
D - you sure you downloaded the windows mobile version? I think your link takes you to a different version.
I got it working no problem - it basically looks exactly like mini 5.0 so far...

so no doubts right?!
Guys ... Great news I heard today... Tomorrow is the day when Flash 10.1 for WinMo Beta is going to be released!!! So all our troubles with opera and flash should be resolved
Thats great news VelikiMeshtar. Didnt know that, thanks for sharing.
About the opera 10 beta 1. I think its more a replacement for the opera 5 mini. Because it looks like opera mini 5 and like opera mini 5, I cant view some pages which I could see in opera 9.7 beta. And did I noticed right that there is still no synchronization for bookmarks or did I miss something? It would be pitty if I'm right.
For me, I will still use Opera 9.7 for websites with difficult scripts or something like that and I will replace Opera mini 5 with Opera 10. Nice work from Opera anyway. They are still the first choise for me.
Installed Opera Mobile 10. Works great! I find it way better than Opera Mobile 9.5 and 9.7. I'm happy.
Still nothing as good as Opera Mini 4.2
