Did you relly opened "get.skyfire.com" in PocketIE?

Opened with IE 6, gettin the "Locating.."

I installed the latest version on my Diamond but to be honest I am not too impressed by the resolution.
Is there a setting that enables vga mode? All the fonts and images look stretched as if it were QVGA, anyone else got this problem?

I think I might give this a try. Just wondering if anyone had any opinions when comparing it to Opera???

Here's the cab for you. If it will violate against the rights of the owner please feel free to delete that post (to mods) or tell me and I'll remove the cab.

Opera is FAR better as an everyday browser in my opinion.
I can see Skyfire being useful though, especially if browsing websites that have a lot of streaming media and flash. It's also quite good if you use sites like digg/reddit.
Facebook sucked and the homepage didn't render as it would on a PC so that was dissapointing, but I visit facebook using the iphone.facebook.com URL via Opera and that's quite good.
The application is supported by VGA devices like the Diamond, however, it certainly isn't optimised for VGA, as you will notice when you install and run it. The buttons look stretched, fonts don't look right and when zoomed out it looks quite pixelly
It's a good concept, however I feel that Skyfire has a way to go before it can compete with more stable browsers like Opera which is far more practical.

I tried this application on my Touch Cruise, but Opera is getting too slow to work with, infact, it will crash and have to soft reset.

LooL.... Be carfull of PornTube.... I have heard its a trojan site that requires you to download a file and run it, in order to play its nookie movies !
Nogs
BTW does the Touch HD come with flash lite 2.x?
If so, do you have to remove that first before installing flash lite 3.1?
Nothing to remove... Just install flash 3.1 on your device and it goes!
Put it on and took it straight back off again.
Works on Youtube - just about - but not on iPlayer or anything much else I tried for that matter. On Youtube it's choppy and imapcts the interface. I also had my SIP pop up everytime I tried to zoom or pan the page. I may have seen a fix for that somewhere in the Forums but frankly can't be bothered as it's not that much worth having as it stands.
I appreciate this is close to cutting edge stuff but it's taking an age to get this sorted for Opera.
there is a mobile browser thats called skyfire which claims can play embedded flash content.its still a beta version but available for download for testing and evaluation.can someone have a try at this please.i can't get it running on my ipaq 614(always searching for data connection)maybe on htc hd it will have better luck

tried it, its not compatible with the screen resolution, I was using this on my Kaiser and its by far the best browser I've tried. It does indeed play embedded flash content
My only disappointment of the HD so far, lets hope its updated soon.

i shall from now on,bombard those skyfire developers on their website with requests to make it compatible with the touch hd ha ha..yeah hopefully there will be an update soon
The thing is that this flashlite version is just a leaked version of the original adobe one, which is still not released yet. we will have to waot a bit until they release the real verion which should then work without a prob
Sorry but to get this straight, are you saying that if I install this on a touch HD, its Opera will no only be able to support flash, but in terms of hitting a you tube video link, it will play in the stand alone you tube client a'la safari and iphone?

it means that youtube and other java based things will work like on your pc. so the youtube videos would run in the youtubepage without the need of opening the youtube application, even java games and more should work. but ofcourse, you can always watch youtube videos with the applicatiuon if you like.

New Version of Skyfire

Omnia its a WQVGA phone, i dunnow why developer hates omnia :/ just cause its a diferetn scren res
This new version is faster than previous .7927. Less lag and it perform fast on every click. Works fine here on Kaiser.
So, if there is any never version, do upload here again

yeah I contact them regarding the LG Incite (same res as Omnia) and they sent me a canned response indicating that 240X400 is not supported. It would have been nice if they at least said something about possible future support. At least Opera works.
anyone know how to get scrolling working with this? I have ftouchsl installed on my trinity and scrolling works great with opera but doesnt work at all with skyfire.... it doesn't support scrolling?
It supports native scrolling, maybe you should add skyfire to Ftouchflo exceptions (there may be a conflict).

Great browser experience - Skyfire

please comment
Tried it.. installed it... found it horrible. Went back to opera
only thing i use skyfire for is websites with flash
i tried this before, found it to be very unresponsive, many time webpages not loading, video's not playing.
when it worked it was great, but i definately prefer the smoothness of opera

Use a recent build of Opera (I have no idea which build number, sorry. But use a custom ROM with the latest build in it), install Flashlite 3.1 cab (floating around here I believe, or work your way through the Adobe site to find it) and in theory it should work .
Skyfire sucks flash the only good thing on it. Thay should rename it slowfire lol.It may load the page fast but then needs to re-load when zooming in on page(slow). If you want to try something other than opera try Iris. Its free and not bad
Iris dont work on my Diamond
Im installed IRIS browser, but it locking up my Diamond soon after start, anyone else with this problem?
Iris made my Diamond crash badly several times, like one out of 3 loads of iris was a soft reset. There was something on the forum about Skyfire loading pages trough their servers and many people didn't like this. I don't like it because of it's way of rendering mentioned above and the crude interface.

opera flash htc hd2

hi all is their any way to get sites like youtube and facebook working with flash,
Try the Skyfire browser, runs on my Kaiser a treat. If my HD2 ever arrives i'll be using that. I'm pretty sure there is an Opera Flash Fix though on this site.
I do not own a leo as yet but definitely intend to.
What happens if you install the Flashlite 3.1.cab floating around the web.
I have tried this on my HTC HD and flash works. I can open youtube right within the browser. For those who own the HD2, does this not work there.
Thanks
Guys,
You do realize that the HD2 comes with the You Tube ap pre-installed.
All you do is from the Start menu scroll down to the You Tube icon, click on it and it then loads a selection of videos.
From here you can do all manner of things including a search & most viewed today.

did you check this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544770
this should work.
I think flash movies runs on IE6. If you are just after flash movies, then just use IE6 to view those sites. I don't own a HD2 yet but I will do when it comes out in Hong Kong in time for Xmas.
that fix doesn`t work for me, because hd2 is not supported device yet...
Flash Lite is there, and Opera certainly supports flash, it's just a matter of enabling it. It's been the case with most devices (Flash works in beta ROMs and doesn't work in release ROMs, probably due to some licensing restrictions).
fixOperaFlash doesn't work because Opera settings on the Leo are stored in the registry, and FOF patches opera.ini, which is missing. Somebody just needs to read what it does and apply the steps intended for opera.ini to the registry.
At worst, you can replace Opera executables with a previous build, although enabling it properly is definitely better.
hi all tested skyfire and it isnt fully working as it seems it runs in 400x240 or less and stretches the picture and icon e.c.t.
everything looks zoomed in and horible

That's what Skyfire does, I'm afraid. So it's working as well as it can.
BTW, there's a FAQ in the fixOperaFlash thread that explains how to add support for HD2, you just need to update fixOperaFlash.ini and rerun the program. After that you should have flash support in Opera.

Should add that to the sticky, seeing as so many people want to know how to add flash to Opera
So did it work for you? I don't have an HD2 yet, so can't test myself.
I have just posted a message on that thread, stating that it kind of works.
Ah, OK. I think this is as far as it will go, current mobile Flash implementation isn't complete and doesn't support ActionScript or something like that required to pass the full Flash 9 test. It will work in most cases though until Adobe updates mobile Flash player.
ok so to get this fixOperaFlash working on the hd2 i need to install the latest version fixOperaFlash v1.5.3.0, and then add this to the ini file
[Touch-HD2]
Custom User-Agent=HTC_Touch_HD2_T8585 Opera/<version> (Windows NT 5.1; U; <language>)

is it this simple?, as skyfire is stretched on the wvga screen
You'll need real values instead of <version>, but otherwise yes, it should be that simple.
confirmed, it works... just download fixoperaflash.ini fili and copy it into your windows directory... then run the tool, and soft reset device...

Multitouch in Internet Explorer

There is a video on youtube showing the HTC HD2 running internet explorer with multitouch working - pinch to zoom.
Now I know IE is not the popular choice but I find the flash support in some of the newer roms to be excellent and I probably use IE more than Opera.
Does anyone know how to get multitouch working in IE?
You could use BSBtweaks which lets you add apps to pinch to zoom and rotate.
Thanks for the response, tried but no luck. Im using MIRI rom, not sure if it's compatible

The ROM won't change this - it's part of the OS. For some reason, you can't add pinch-to-zoom to some programs. IE is one of them.

Every day's a school day!
Ah, that sucks a little, IE has become quite a good browser, if I could get multitouch, like in the video, I could ditch opera :-(
Anyone know of any other solutions?
+1
Bump, was thinking the same
i wasnt liking the new implementation of opera 10 and was searching for a tweak in IE
The version that you are seeing is a special one that Adobe used to show off flash 10.1 running on the device with 'propper' pinch zoom built in. I'm sure it will eventualy leak in one of the 6.5.x builds, but until MS leak it then we are stuffed.
