There is a video on youtube showing the HTC HD2 running internet explorer with multitouch working - pinch to zoom.
Now I know IE is not the popular choice but I find the flash support in some of the newer roms to be excellent and I probably use IE more than Opera.
Does anyone know how to get multitouch working in IE?
You could use BSBtweaks which lets you add apps to pinch to zoom and rotate.
Thanks for the response, tried but no luck. Im using MIRI rom, not sure if it's compatible

The ROM won't change this - it's part of the OS. For some reason, you can't add pinch-to-zoom to some programs. IE is one of them.

Every day's a school day!
Ah, that sucks a little, IE has become quite a good browser, if I could get multitouch, like in the video, I could ditch opera :-(
Anyone know of any other solutions?
+1
Bump, was thinking the same
i wasnt liking the new implementation of opera 10 and was searching for a tweak in IE
The version that you are seeing is a special one that Adobe used to show off flash 10.1 running on the device with 'propper' pinch zoom built in. I'm sure it will eventualy leak in one of the 6.5.x builds, but until MS leak it then we are stuffed.

Hi guys,
i've been installing different builds on my X1 to see if any of them offer better rendering, zoom etc. but all of them have issues with the hardware keyboard.
Apart from the pre-installed build of Opera has anyone managed to find a newer build that works with our X1?
Many thanks!
Nope, still use the stock opera.
Me too. Anything other than the stock one gives nothing but trouble.
Same here. Stock opera ftw...
Ver 9.5 Build 2141... which is stock.
No reason to change as it suits my needs. I don't use the hardware keyboard on this anyway.
Stock one here too, I tried loads of builds but this one seems to work the best or the X1, plus it allows access to BBC iPlayer with the stock one.

The vga one works on the X1's wvga screen?
yep its only a skin
I have tried 15233 on my X1 and i didn't work quite so well as the stock one. The hardware keyboard was not functioning properly and because it is VGA version the zooming doesn't always focus correctly on the X1's screen
Hi all,
most people want to change opera version because they think there is no zoom option like the HD one when you can choose the degree of zoom.
But you can zoom in and out using the volume up and down button
lol thx. i didnt knew that

Opera
Hi
I'm using opera 9.5 15202 vga version on my Xperia X1i and it works beautifully
with zoom and all, I'm using 5 tabs option even. works fine for me.
Dinesh
I tried to update to 15xxx with overwriting opera.exe and operal.exe in \windows folder.
After that Opera is not starting anymore, so I went back to stock .exe files.
Did somebody make a .cab from the stock X1 opera so I can test the installs without having to do a hardreset when I want to go back to original one?
I heared that Build 15xxx have othe .ini than 2xxx, maybe that's the reason for updating-problems?!
no, the beta 2 version crashes alll the time
the stock is just fine for me!
Does the stock version support flashlite 3.1? It doesn't work for me. If anyone has it working, what opera build do you use and what flashlite cab did you install?
Was using the stock. Using 15233 right now, but I was going to go back. Its not really better and I think panning works better in the stock. Will try 15202 though.
My flash works.
Build is 2141 I think.

Can you tell me what cab you installed for flash? My flash acts like it wants to work but never fully loads. There will just be an empty box where a flash object should be. I can even tap and hold on it and get the flash context menu.
I am using the stock version of Opera but I am having problems getting it to load some of the forums I visit. I get the message "The requested page cannot be displayed". When I use wifi I get the XML Parsing Error. Is there a fix for this somehwere? I never had this issue using Opera 9.5 before the X1a.

please comment
Tried it.. installed it... found it horrible. Went back to opera
only thing i use skyfire for is websites with flash
i tried this before, found it to be very unresponsive, many time webpages not loading, video's not playing.
when it worked it was great, but i definately prefer the smoothness of opera

Use a recent build of Opera (I have no idea which build number, sorry. But use a custom ROM with the latest build in it), install Flashlite 3.1 cab (floating around here I believe, or work your way through the Adobe site to find it) and in theory it should work .
Skyfire sucks flash the only good thing on it. Thay should rename it slowfire lol.It may load the page fast but then needs to re-load when zooming in on page(slow). If you want to try something other than opera try Iris. Its free and not bad
Iris dont work on my Diamond
Im installed IRIS browser, but it locking up my Diamond soon after start, anyone else with this problem?
Iris made my Diamond crash badly several times, like one out of 3 loads of iris was a soft reset. There was something on the forum about Skyfire loading pages trough their servers and many people didn't like this. I don't like it because of it's way of rendering mentioned above and the crude interface.
Currently, I'm running Itje's Touch-IT v7 ROM. The built-in Opera doesn't support the HW keyboard, but it does support push internet.
My problem is that it doesn't do what I want it to! Who can help me find an opera that does what I want it to? I'd like to see at least a version number and link when you suggest something.
What I'm looking for:
1) Most important of all: HW Keyboard support.
2) Would love to see the vertical slider on the right side of the screen to control zooming.
3) Support for the TF3D Internet tab bookmarks.
4) The latest version supporting above features (less bugs!).
5) No need for push internet. (what is push internet anyway!?)
Above list is in order of importance. If anyone can point me to one with the first two features, I'd be thrilled already. ^_^
If many people will post links, I'll be making this post a comprehensive list of opera versions and features for the X1.
Opera 16194 - X1 - Link
Speed: Scrolling is very smooth, overall pretty responsive.
Zooming: No on-screen zoom, but volume button zoom works fine.
Input: HW keyboard works fine, as well as SIP.
TF3D Compatibility: Bookmarks will be visible when the opera6.adr file is put in windows\Opera9. You'll have to manually select them as push pages to show up in TF3D.
Thanks in advance!

Alrighty, the newest X1 Opera is pretty good. Does anyone know of one with the on-screen zoom slider? It used to be in Itje's Touch-IT 4.5 rom iirc.
i saw that one in default HTC opera... but hw keyboard wasnt working on those
Maybe you guys can help me out. Im running the default opera browser but recently have been receiving a message "the requested page can not be displayed" Any ideas as to what the problem is. It onlt occurs with some websites and just recently began to cause this problem.

is there a current version that supports all of the features metioned on the first page ?
i'm currently using build 2532 and i can't use a few sites and it crashes randomly whereas the version that came with the stock rom was just fine. :-(
I tried to install build 16194 posted in the link, but it failed and said the device was not "authorized". Does anyone know what could be the problem?
maybe u need sdk certs dunno just guess
Thanks. I resolved the problem. Did a hard reset and restored using Sprite backup, then installed Build 16194. Now the hardware keyboard works fine.
hi all is their any way to get sites like youtube and facebook working with flash,
Try the Skyfire browser, runs on my Kaiser a treat. If my HD2 ever arrives i'll be using that. I'm pretty sure there is an Opera Flash Fix though on this site.
I do not own a leo as yet but definitely intend to.
What happens if you install the Flashlite 3.1.cab floating around the web.
I have tried this on my HTC HD and flash works. I can open youtube right within the browser. For those who own the HD2, does this not work there.
Thanks
Guys,
You do realize that the HD2 comes with the You Tube ap pre-installed.
All you do is from the Start menu scroll down to the You Tube icon, click on it and it then loads a selection of videos.
From here you can do all manner of things including a search & most viewed today.

this should work.
I think flash movies runs on IE6. If you are just after flash movies, then just use IE6 to view those sites. I don't own a HD2 yet but I will do when it comes out in Hong Kong in time for Xmas.
that fix doesn`t work for me, because hd2 is not supported device yet...
Flash Lite is there, and Opera certainly supports flash, it's just a matter of enabling it. It's been the case with most devices (Flash works in beta ROMs and doesn't work in release ROMs, probably due to some licensing restrictions).
fixOperaFlash doesn't work because Opera settings on the Leo are stored in the registry, and FOF patches opera.ini, which is missing. Somebody just needs to read what it does and apply the steps intended for opera.ini to the registry.
At worst, you can replace Opera executables with a previous build, although enabling it properly is definitely better.

That's what Skyfire does, I'm afraid. So it's working as well as it can.
BTW, there's a FAQ in the fixOperaFlash thread that explains how to add support for HD2, you just need to update fixOperaFlash.ini and rerun the program. After that you should have flash support in Opera.

Should add that to the sticky, seeing as so many people want to know how to add flash to Opera
So did it work for you? I don't have an HD2 yet, so can't test myself.
I have just posted a message on that thread, stating that it kind of works.
Ah, OK. I think this is as far as it will go, current mobile Flash implementation isn't complete and doesn't support ActionScript or something like that required to pass the full Flash 9 test. It will work in most cases though until Adobe updates mobile Flash player.
ok so to get this fixOperaFlash working on the hd2 i need to install the latest version fixOperaFlash v1.5.3.0, and then add this to the ini file

is it this simple?, as skyfire is stretched on the wvga screen
You'll need real values instead of <version>, but otherwise yes, it should be that simple.
confirmed, it works... just download fixoperaflash.ini fili and copy it into your windows directory... then run the tool, and soft reset device...
Hey guys, i've done a search on the forums and i can't find any information on what im after.
Basically i was wondering if there was anyone out there who would know which registry setting or something that will re-enable the double tap to zoom feature in Opera 9.7? I'm currently running the latest OzRom and for some reason it doesn't work now.
Frustrating especially when the pages load fully zoomed out and i need to pinch a couple of times to get it to the level of zoom i want.
if you are using Opera build 358xx you could try this. Otherwise I don't know.
HKLM/Software/Opera/Info/az_overview_threshold
Change value to 64
I am using the same ROM (excellent btw) and had the same problem. Just use this reg tweak to fix it: hklm/software/opera/prefs/adaptive zoom/virtual screen width and change it from 1024 to 1020
Thanks for the tip guys, I've managed to get te double tap to zoom working again.
On a different note, whilst in the opera registry, I've come across the enable open gl key which i decided to tryout just for fun. To my amazement, after enabling it, my screen scrolling is much smoother than before, much like that of the iPhone and the rendering at different zoom levels is now much smoother as well.
I remember in the original opera builds, enabling this resulted in very choppy scrolling, but this new build of opera must have implemented proper 3d accelerator support, and as such, it is even smoother than the 50 fps tweak that i had applied beforehand.
For those who are interested, i am using the latest opera build 9.73801
I've just upgraded to the latest T-Mobile Rom 1.72 and the double click zoom works on every site except bbc news. I can't understand what's happened, it all worked fine with the old 1.66 WWE rom I was using. Any ideas why it would work on some websites and not others?
sorry for resurrecting an old thread - didnt want to start a new one!
can anyone tell me how i can change the zoom level for "double tap to zoom" on opera 9.7?
The zoom level seems to be different in all the different builds - the one im using at the moment, built into NRG rom zooms in to close on double tap....i want to maybe half the zoom level so i can see more of the page im zooming into!
anyone help? what is the reg entry?

Pinch to zoom works fine. However circumstances are such that I often browse just using one hand to operate; while walking and holding a bottle drink or newspaper etc in the other hand. I need two hands to operate pinch to zoom under such circumstances and almost end up dropping the phone or drink; thus double tap to zoom not working on the BBC web pages is such an inconvenience when being able to do so on other web pages.
Similar problem after 2.13 ROM update on TMOUS, only so far on CNN.com site. Other sites work normally.
PS, my virtual screen width key was 685, not 1024...

The virtual screen width is a point to note, mine is set to 1024. However, default values, and any other values, fail to see double tap to zoom work on the BBC web pages.
