Hey guys, i've done a search on the forums and i can't find any information on what im after.
Basically i was wondering if there was anyone out there who would know which registry setting or something that will re-enable the double tap to zoom feature in Opera 9.7? I'm currently running the latest OzRom and for some reason it doesn't work now.
Frustrating especially when the pages load fully zoomed out and i need to pinch a couple of times to get it to the level of zoom i want.
if you are using Opera build 358xx you could try this. Otherwise I don't know.
HKLM/Software/Opera/Info/az_overview_threshold
Change value to 64
I am using the same ROM (excellent btw) and had the same problem. Just use this reg tweak to fix it: hklm/software/opera/prefs/adaptive zoom/virtual screen width and change it from 1024 to 1020
Thanks for the tip guys, I've managed to get te double tap to zoom working again.
On a different note, whilst in the opera registry, I've come across the enable open gl key which i decided to tryout just for fun. To my amazement, after enabling it, my screen scrolling is much smoother than before, much like that of the iPhone and the rendering at different zoom levels is now much smoother as well.
I remember in the original opera builds, enabling this resulted in very choppy scrolling, but this new build of opera must have implemented proper 3d accelerator support, and as such, it is even smoother than the 50 fps tweak that i had applied beforehand.
For those who are interested, i am using the latest opera build 9.73801
I've just upgraded to the latest T-Mobile Rom 1.72 and the double click zoom works on every site except bbc news. I can't understand what's happened, it all worked fine with the old 1.66 WWE rom I was using. Any ideas why it would work on some websites and not others?
sorry for resurrecting an old thread - didnt want to start a new one!
can anyone tell me how i can change the zoom level for "double tap to zoom" on opera 9.7?
The zoom level seems to be different in all the different builds - the one im using at the moment, built into NRG rom zooms in to close on double tap....i want to maybe half the zoom level so i can see more of the page im zooming into!
anyone help? what is the reg entry?

Anyone know how to add the pinch zoom to Opera 10?
It worked in the stock Opera 9.7 (build 35541) but 10 appears to just have the usual double tap zoom.

I need help on this too please.
Every other site seems to work besides bbc.
Thanks in advance.
No one else having a problem with the double tap to zoom not working on Opera 9.7 (after ROM 1.72 upgrade) when viewing the BBC website (desktop version not mobile version). Why not give it a try, grateful for advice on how to resolve this or at least what causes this.
what about pinch-to-zoom?

Pinch to zoom works fine. However circumstances are such that I often browse just using one hand to operate; while walking and holding a bottle drink or newspaper etc in the other hand. I need two hands to operate pinch to zoom under such circumstances and almost end up dropping the phone or drink; thus double tap to zoom not working on the BBC web pages is such an inconvenience when being able to do so on other web pages.
Similar problem after 2.13 ROM update on TMOUS, only so far on CNN.com site. Other sites work normally.
PS, my virtual screen width key was 685, not 1024...

The virtual screen width is a point to note, mine is set to 1024. However, default values, and any other values, fail to see double tap to zoom work on the BBC web pages.

New opera build extracted from latest (30/12/2008) Omnia ROM:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MH67LC7D
It has the same features (zoom style, scroll window, etc) than previus builds from Omnia ROMs
Enjoy
very nice, i have always considered omnia opera builds some of the best.
any chance you have a link for the rom?
In the line of the 1957 ? Great i'm gonna test it
Played a bit with this version, Flashlite 3 worked after reinstall on memory (i had Opera on SD and this one is on memory)
I can't tell if it is much faster than the build 1957, but it scrolls fast, the zoom is smooth and there is no landscape issues with my kaiser when using the hardware keyboard. I also noticed that it lags less than previous build when scrolling/zooming with flash stuff on the page.
I love it
Darn, didn't fix two of my issues - Stars don't show up on the Google Reader Iphone version (google.com/reader/i) and my phone is still identified as a mobile device for ESPN.com. The mobile version loads automatically and I cannot get the regular version to load, even though in my settings I have it set to identify itself as a desktop computer.
Anyone else run into these issues?
Thanks!
Anyone got a mirror? I can't download this thing from megaupload, very weird!
Just installed this version and now everytime i start my phone is just insists on loading up opera on its own, and if i close it, it will just fire it back up every minute
very annoying!

This Opera version is awesome...
FAST, cool interface... Flash 3 work now...
Zoom bar in right side... no keyboard problem...
wow ! i think one of better Opera build tested for me...
THX for this gift ! happy new year !
Any way to get a SD version please?
I am using the 2520 version from the omnia that is the two file upgrade from the 1957 version. The omnia versions have always been the best.
Thanks
Can one of you guys please try https://secure.k12planet.com in this build. Im still on build 2128 because every build after this one results in the site saying that the browser is incompatible. I need this site to work for school. Thanks.
Edit: If it works, the page will show a login screen. Wait until the page stops loading because on the Opera builds where it doesn't work, it briefly shows the login screen before quickly changing to the browser incompatibility page.
^^^vidman...that site loaded for me on 2520

Guys, calm down...
It isn't a zoom slider like in the other opera versions. There isn't a "zoom" button. This one...tap on the right side of the screen, and slide finger. If you wait too long you get the menu. You will see a vertical zoom bar popup. Much better IMHO since it doesn't have the zoom button covering up the screen.
hello! anyone have problem that when backlight goes off it starts to blink? like one second backlight on and other off? anyidea how fix that?
VGA skin is attached. I did it real quick, there might be a few glitches, I used the basic diamond skin, but this one has all features of the omnia version. so give it a shot. it is better then nothing at least. and it works great on the touch pro.
Hi guys,
i've been installing different builds on my X1 to see if any of them offer better rendering, zoom etc. but all of them have issues with the hardware keyboard.
Apart from the pre-installed build of Opera has anyone managed to find a newer build that works with our X1?
Many thanks!
Nope, still use the stock opera.
Me too. Anything other than the stock one gives nothing but trouble.
Same here. Stock opera ftw...
Ver 9.5 Build 2141... which is stock.
No reason to change as it suits my needs. I don't use the hardware keyboard on this anyway.
Stock one here too, I tried loads of builds but this one seems to work the best or the X1, plus it allows access to BBC iPlayer with the stock one.

yep its only a skin
I have tried 15233 on my X1 and i didn't work quite so well as the stock one. The hardware keyboard was not functioning properly and because it is VGA version the zooming doesn't always focus correctly on the X1's screen
Hi all,
most people want to change opera version because they think there is no zoom option like the HD one when you can choose the degree of zoom.
But you can zoom in and out using the volume up and down button
lol thx. i didnt knew that

Hi
I'm using opera 9.5 15202 vga version on my Xperia X1i and it works beautifully
with zoom and all, I'm using 5 tabs option even. works fine for me.

I tried to update to 15xxx with overwriting opera.exe and operal.exe in \windows folder.
After that Opera is not starting anymore, so I went back to stock .exe files.
Did somebody make a .cab from the stock X1 opera so I can test the installs without having to do a hardreset when I want to go back to original one?
I heared that Build 15xxx have othe .ini than 2xxx, maybe that's the reason for updating-problems?!
no, the beta 2 version crashes alll the time
the stock is just fine for me!
Does the stock version support flashlite 3.1? It doesn't work for me. If anyone has it working, what opera build do you use and what flashlite cab did you install?
Was using the stock. Using 15233 right now, but I was going to go back. Its not really better and I think panning works better in the stock. Will try 15202 though.
My flash works.
Build is 2141 I think.

Can you tell me what cab you installed for flash? My flash acts like it wants to work but never fully loads. There will just be an empty box where a flash object should be. I can even tap and hold on it and get the flash context menu.
I am using the stock version of Opera but I am having problems getting it to load some of the forums I visit. I get the message "The requested page cannot be displayed". When I use wifi I get the XML Parsing Error. Is there a fix for this somehwere? I never had this issue using Opera 9.5 before the X1a.
As above.

Have fun.
already using this in your beta 7 diamond rom. works great! thanks alot!
I am not able to install the cab on my xperia. it tells me that i am using the wrong rom version?
does this support flash plugin?
Is there a QVGA version of this build?
what are the files i need to ugrade my current cooked version. I've upgraded before with two files but i forgot which can someone let me know which files. to put in the opera folder.
OperaL.exe and Opera9.exe
I would also like to have these 2 files only. VGA version please
This version is not that good. It needs very much time to start and the zoom slider is not there.
What do you mean, zoom slider is not there?
Does it have the invisible zoom slider on the right, or the zoom slider that is activated by the button on the left bottom?
Works perfectly on my stock sprint rom on touch diamond, thanks a lot
Can't install on my kaiser, says something like wrong ROM (even though it is qvga, i just wanted to get the exes).
Curious what kind of zoom slider it has?
Does flash work?
Anyone in for making a qvga cab or the seperate exes?

100% FALSE
Where is this build extracted from?
Been using it for a while now.
Looks really nice, boots up instantly, pages render perfectly and quickly, text looks great, zooming and panning are flawless.
Amazing build. =]
It starts up very fast after I did a soft reset - starting it immediately after installation yielded a slow startup. However, there isn't a zoom button at the bottom left of the screen, and I don't think there's the "sceret slider" either, like the Omnia.

as i said i'm using a cooked version of opera build 15316, but i do have the zoom in the bottom left. i did notice one thing though, it does not appear on local pages like help and about opera, but is there at www.htc.com. i'm looking at it right now, its there!

Where is the zoom slider then? I can't seem to find it anywhere on here.
There is a video on youtube showing the HTC HD2 running internet explorer with multitouch working - pinch to zoom.
Now I know IE is not the popular choice but I find the flash support in some of the newer roms to be excellent and I probably use IE more than Opera.
Does anyone know how to get multitouch working in IE?
You could use BSBtweaks which lets you add apps to pinch to zoom and rotate.
Thanks for the response, tried but no luck. Im using MIRI rom, not sure if it's compatible

The ROM won't change this - it's part of the OS. For some reason, you can't add pinch-to-zoom to some programs. IE is one of them.

Ah, that sucks a little, IE has become quite a good browser, if I could get multitouch, like in the video, I could ditch opera :-(
Anyone know of any other solutions?

Bump, was thinking the same
i wasnt liking the new implementation of opera 10 and was searching for a tweak in IE
The version that you are seeing is a special one that Adobe used to show off flash 10.1 running on the device with 'propper' pinch zoom built in. I'm sure it will eventualy leak in one of the 6.5.x builds, but until MS leak it then we are stuffed.
Any way to have pinch to zoom exactly the same like in opera 9 ???
Lookin solution for HD2.
BSB tweaks pinch to zoom not works the same.
+1
please
Come on .. wait at least an hour to start the exact same thread over and over ..
The answer is no.

this is no simple registry hack that someone could do easily. it has to be done from opera. if you like pinch to zoom just install the 9.7 version.
I understand, but what's the point of not supporting that in version 10, in the era of big screen smartphones?
I have 9.7 on my HD2, and it's fine except flash support, since the fix provided somewhere here in the forums doesn't work...

Opera 9.7 was made specifically for the HD2, the only WM (at the time of writing) with multi-touch. Opera 10, however, was made for all windows mobile devices, so it only has generic features. Anyway, the zoom in Opera 10 blows pinch-to-zoom with reflow out of the water. At least you can actually zoom in where you want to, and not zoom in and then find what it was you wanted to zoom in on in the first place!
Thanks for the informative answer. By the way, in 9.7, don't we achieve the same as you mentioned with a double tap to the specific location of the website?
You could probably try zoomer.

yes zoomer could work,I'm still using 9.7
OK so then two choices:
Keep Opera 10: Deal with no pinch to zoom
Go back to Opera 9.7: Pinch to zoom but no flash...
...great...

the problem is... sometimes you want to zoom a different amount.. and not having to go to settings to change the percentage.
it's not an easy hack, but I hope someome will do it. I'd sure buy that guy/gal who would, a few pints!
