JustStable is a ROM. That's an equivalent to an Operating System on your computer.
Metaphor: Sure, you can run Linux off of a CD Drive, but Windows, no way!
Your SD card in your phone is similar to a CD drive. So, NO, you cannot install an operating system (ROM) onto your phone's SD card.
And one more thing...Flashing a ROM (installing it) isn't nearly as simple as installing a program. Just like how upgrading your Operating System on your PC compared to installing a program on it.
If you wanna upgrade and flash to JustStable, tell us, and we've got some guides that you can follow.

First thing you do is go to: www.thewingster.com
Then you go to the ROM's section. Pick your ROM. Do NOT pick a ROM that says, LZX. Once you found a ROM you like, locate the How To Flash this ROM link on the ROM's page. Follow the instructions.
As it says, first, you download and extract your ROM. So, you return to your ROM's page and click DOWNLOAD. Then you unzip or unrar it. You might need 7zip for that.
Then follow the rest of the instructions. Got it?

It should just fine. Let it stay connected for a while, it has to download the Windows Mobile Device Center, so that takes some time.
If you're on 64-bit, it still should work, but I've heard some problems with that.

make sure the device has been hard spl'd. or use uspl to flash.

sorry for being slow but could you explain most of the terms like spl...some of us are newbies to this ...also i have wmdc 6.1 and it wont connect

Anybody install Helmi's ROM from Windows Vista?
I have trouble/ When i start bootloder on my BA, PC don't connect to mobile device
And i can't install ROM
I try install activesync, but that is impossible
You can't use RUU on vista with the built in drivers unfortunately.
There is a thread (search for it) and you will find out how to get it working.
Hey guys there is a WIKI!
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel_WM6_WizzardMain
I spend so many hours and nobody follow the wiki
But I am gonna to finish it cause I like the wizard style
Thanks anybody
I complete this task
For any body who need's:
how to upgrade ROM from VISTA
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=291723
Upgrade is done with the old activesync drivers ... thats why i hate vista, you have to do a lot of stuff to reach your goal
I conferm that the rom upgrade never worked on my pc with Vista. I was forced to use my laptop with Xp. I think someone should make blueangel update utilities compatible with Vista too
Or just keep an XP virtual machine in a safe place
i will post the steps for vista upgrade later, because i am lil busy
xplode?
Have you read the wiki already?) There is nice step by step tutorial - however if you can make some pictures It would be much better!
Follow the instructions in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=291723&highlight=vista
I upgrade my ROMS in Vista using this method and it works every time.
i will made guide with pichtures but it will be after 5-6 hours , because i only have time at night

Try to remove SD from your device b4 do the flashing.
Thats right SD card should be removed before flash (device may not go into "USB" mode when "cradled")
However I have made PICTURES and added them to the wiki (they are quite big and it doesnt look very well) but will improve it later

Shift Project Release: SSPL and HardSPL - the way to custom ROMs and more!

so here we proudly present the HardSPL flash package
well, what this is good for - this enables flashing of custom roms (I try to explain only because I know many Shift owners here don't own other HTC devices).
SSPL and RUU patches have been made mostly by me, HSPL and package compilation have been made mostly by Olipro, so both are branded OliNex.
Please read and follow all instructions very carefully.
this has been tested (thanks thaihugo, et al.), but if you have problems then do let us know in this thread.
also, TO EVERYONE WHO BETA TESTED in the past: please do download this final version. it will flash an updated HardSPL to your device.
prerequisite: "liberated" Shift (i.e. has the usbtool on Snapvue side!).
STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Download the package from attachment in this post and extract the files from the zip somewhere on Vista.
2. Install the EnableRapi.cab file from the zip on Snapvue side. (of course do unzip in Vista first.)
3. Make sure Shift is on AC adapter and that the WMDC in Vista sees the Snapvue side!!! (use usbtool to turn USB on in Snapvue if necessary.)
4. Run the ShiftHardSPLFinal.exe on Vista. if you do not have UAC disabled, then please run it as Administrator!!!
5. It should pop up two cmd windows for a second. then it will pop up a box saying "Processing". at this point please check if Snapvue side went into black screen. if yes, then everything is OK so far, so press OK in the "Processing" messagebox.
6. After some more wait (and two more cmd windows - please allow them to run if Vista asks!), the Romupdateutility will launch automatically. Please press Next and so on, until it flashes the update.
7. The RUU should say success, and should hard reset the device. at this point your Shift has been HardSPL'ed - Congratulations!!!
TroubleShooting:
- if Vista errors out on pput.exe after step 4, make sure you launched the ShiftHardSPLFinal.exe as Administrator: right click on EXE and select "run as Administrator" option.
- if at step 5, you don't have black screen, the device might be asking you to allow to run a program on the Snapvue side. click Yes if prompted!
- if after step 5 the next cmd gets stuck at some USB disabling message, let us know. (it shouldn't get stuck but just in case.)
- if you wish to check it is really HardSPL'd now, use mtty and use info 2 command in it. it should return HTCS00000000something which means it is (fake) supercid and is HardSPL.
NOTE: never use the RUU from this SSPL package for anything else! this is special and is strictly for the HardSPL process.
to just flash ROMs after you installed HardSPL, you can use the original RUU or CustomRUU from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2098895#post2098895
also, first Custom ROM with GPS and with some tweaks/customizations (will also be liberated out of the box!) is to follow sometime this week. along with a radio Security/CID unlocker (patched radio image). then voice and maybe WVGA screen is to follow not much later.
you of course must have this HardSPL installed, or the ROMs will not flash!
enjoy
Let me be the first to say on behalf of us here:
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ALL HAIL CMONEX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks you and all others in Shift Project
Wouhou !
Thanks !!! great news
I have a Traditional Chinese Version of shift. I followed the instruction to install EnableRapi.cab in WM6 side, then run shiftHardSPLFinal.exe, screen blanked.
On the Vista a CMD pop up said: "USB\ROOT_HUB\4&188A10ED&0 isabled."
then won't continue.
Any help, please?
Nice !! Can't wait to use the built-in GPS on the SnapVue side..
Finally I can run PocketReperion so I can find my shift back if it's stolen.
....voice...to follow later....serious... Cmonex, if you had to put a percentage of chance that we will get Voice working, what would the percentage be ?? 50%-50% ?
Thanks Guys, appreciated!
after done this thing, is it possible to make voice call from Shift? sorry about that question, as I dont have much knowleague about rom and flash
noup. this will allow you to place the hacked rom (the hacked rom is still to be released) that would enable these features... and this without having the phone detect the "hack".
this is a way of telling it..

oh, chinese shift... is the OS in all chinese? and the WM side?
anyway, that should not be a problem... if it still won't go on, press Ctrl+C to cancel this cmd, another will pop up, cancel that too, then the RUU will pop up. at this point, put vista to hibernate (don't try to shut down for now, it will make it harder to get it working that way). wait a few secs after it hibernated, wake up vista, then go on with the RUU.
btw if this is first time being in bootloader, it might first want to install drivers at this point. let it install them, then feel free to continue in the RUU.
another way to deal with the issue: shut down vista and remove battery. reinstall battery, boot both vista and snapvue, then start the process from step 1 again. battery removal and fresh boot of vista afterwards can help a lot with usb.

hey
IIRC you have the beta hardSPL flashed, yes? I recommend updating it with this final one (only difference is this has overwrite protection while the beta did not - because of that, you can also update the beta one by using CustomRUU and the RUU_Signed.NBH from the final package after it extracts.)
as for voice, chances are a bit better I think.
congratulations Guys Congratulations Its The Only I Had To Say...

yes it performs a hard reset.
don't despair, soon you can flash liberated rom and then you can forget about how to do manual liberation
Hello and thanks for SSPL & HardSPL!!
I'm wondering how to build these custom ROMs..?
Are you dumping the ROM from TytnII/Kaiser and edit until the ROM is small enough? Is any Software out there to edit the Filesystem from dumped ROMs?
Many weeks ago i've heard about a ROM that supports GPS - why didn't you release it with the bundle? Any Bugs?

no, not using a kaiser ROM. but you can dump the ROM from Shift in the same way as Kaiser, I think pof also posted about this before. also we have some HTC rom updates, will try to upload them to crapidshare or something soon.
the current rom base with the GPS has an issue so we are porting the GPS to a newer rom base then release that.
as for rom editor tools, a kaiser kitchen with the rom base changed to a shift rom, will work. i.e. the rom tools from kaiser kitchen are compatible.
Shift display has gone blank
Hi help is needed here, I followed installation instruction and obtained USB\ROOT_HUB\4&188A10ED&0 disabled. I've now got shift working, will try again. Thanks.

try after removing battery, and with freshly booted vista and snapvue.
make sure the WMDC is running with USB enabled in it. that seems to help.
if nothing else helps, then when you get to that disabled message, and it doesn't move after maybe 2 minutes, Ctrl+C, etc., then hibernate vista etc. (as described above).
EDIT: ah I see you added: problem solved. what was the exact way to solve it?

dumb noob question, im desperate

is it possible to install a new rom without a computer? I have a few roms on my storage card from a wifi connection and wanna try them out.....any suggestions? it is a tmobile wing thanks
sorry for the stupidity, ive tried a search with no luck
if you are hard spl then you can flash from the storage card but you need a computer to flash to hard spl
umm..yea you do i flashed my wing a few times and believe you need a computer, its a lot safer then attempting to do something that you havent found yet...
just wondering, why cant you use a computer again?
my computer has windows vista on it and i cannot get actisync to work with my computer, so i was hoping that i could just do it on the phone.

If you your phone is hardSPL and you have a SD card that is big enough for a rom, then you can always flash from the SD, just rename you rom into HERIMG.nbh, place it into the root of the SD card, soft reset your phone and then enter the bootloader. For more detail on SD flashing, search the forum.
could you please tell me what hardspl is?

It's the spl that allow you to flash any cooked rom. But I won't say more because you need to read by yourself if you don't want to brick your phone. It can't be explained in a few line. Search for hardspl please.

Trying to get wm 6.5 to flash onto my siemens sx66

Hy all. I have a Siemens SX66 phone and currently have WM 6.1 flashed onto it. I've tried to flash WM 6.5 onto it and keep getting an error saying that it can't detect my device, even though it's definitely connected and synced with my PC. The versions I've tried to flash onto my phone are the standard and premium versions of the ROM. Does this ROM not flash onto the SX66, and if it does, what is it that I'm doing wrong for it to not see my device? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
if you run Windows Vista or above, pls refer to Wiki for the correct driver.
If you are running XP, you must kill ActiveSync (go to task manager and kill wescommgr.exe and rapimgr.exe). Also, make sure that your device is in bootloader prior to cradling the device.
On a side note, please do not open multiple threads with the same question on it. In fact, please search for an answer (either google, wiki, or xda's search engine) prior to starting a new thread. Thanks.

egzthunder1,
I am indeed running Windows XP. In following your directions, Activesync kept popping up automatically whenever I plugged the phone into the cradle. I would kill the 2 exe files you mentioned in the task manager, but they would just pop back up, so I went a step further and uninstalled activesync completely. I then plugged the phone into the cradle, ran "BaUpgradeUt" from the WM 6.5 package (the download is "Windows Mobile6.5Professional(QVGA)v7.9.25_HTCBA ROM"), and I STILL keep getting the same error message when I run the progrm, which is "Error 103: ROM Image File Not Found". I currently have the WM 6.1 ROM installed on the phone if that makes any difference. Any help to figure this problem out would be greatly appreciated.
you get that error, because you shouldn't use baupgrade, but MAupgradeut_noID.exe first of all. make sure the folder containing those two mentioned files also contains a "nk.nbf" file, because that is the rom

Chef_Tony is right on the money. The noID version was developed for this same exact reason. Also, you are correct about ActiveSync as it does pop up again, but if the device is cradled in bootloader mode, the PC will only recognize the device as an USB device rather than a pda. Therefore, AS will not sync with it and it will just be opened in the background.
I believe that there is an app called KillActiveSync somewhere in the Dev & Hacking section, which truly kills AS and prevents it from running. You could search for it if you need it, but it seems that your main problem was that you were in fact using the wrong RUU. Anyway, good luck, mate!

My friend, all I see is 2 things. #1, you are not placing your phone on Bootloader. That is why Active Sync is popping up. #2, after you uninstalled Active Sync, the upgrade utility cannot see the phone. Thats why you get the error. Install Active sync 4.5 again. Make sure you place your phone in bootloader, and follow the steps here
Good Luck.

Confused, T-Mobile UK - HTC HD2 - advice choosing a ROM Required please

Hi Guys,
Got a new htc hd2 from tmobile in the uk, got last years september rom on it and found that it had an old rom on it, needs upgrading and wanting to put a updated rom, but wanted a rom that had all the bells and whistles,
currently it keeps freezin when sending txts an randomly crashes, had a couple of them, an thought it was phone til i realised all software related an needs seriously updating, but thought would go the whole hog then not do it for a while lol
Never done this before and a bit of a noob, have been reading through the stickys, but still abit unsure
Wasnt sure wether i would be able to put windows 7 or android on it, so if need be will stick to just winmo 6.5 but wanted a rom that gave me some decent apps with it, like those power/cooked roms, but didnt know what to go for, what would be best
never installed apps before, apart from through windows marketplace,
So hints tips an a great step by step noobie guide would be great,
Cheers for reading

Rom!! ???
I'm not being rude, but you really need to search forum. There are lots of threads about just what you are needing. WM7 is not available, android, they are working on, no idea when. Give search a try. lots of info,,,,
I did search the forums, i have been searching, hence how i obtained the info,
i know there are a lot of different cooked roms, but nothing that can help me differentiate which to choose from,
tbh ALL I want on the rom is probably like an e-reader and a torch, anything else is a bonus lol,
but i cant seem to locate something that says this is the one that wont cause me any issues, i am tempted just to grab the stock rom off htc, as that should resolve most of the issues with the phone

It will connect to usb while the phone is running, but as soon as it drops to bootloader the usb connection will not get passed back to xp.
you will not get hspl to work in a virtual environment or bootcamp. (or so i hear, i dont have a mac, i just read a lot )
You 'may' get flashing to work from bootcamp, but deff not hspl.
You will need to use a windows machine to instal hspl.

I resisted using a non "stock" ROM for a while, but I eventually got fed up with even the latest version that was released for O2 (1.72).
Yesterday I installed the Atermis v14 ROM, which I have to say stands head and shoulders above the standard release ROMs.
I chose it for two reasons, after looking on the "HTC_Leo/ROMs" page on the wiki attached to the site. First was that it was described as "Combines the latest WM 6.5.5 version with latest Manila 2.5.2012 (Leo 2.11) for HD2.This ROM Family is stable , fast and very close to stock ROM "Philosophy"." Second because it was first on the list
I found it really easy to install, using SSPL; you just put the downloaded ROM image and SSPL exe into a folder, connect your phone via USB with ActiveSync of Device Centre, and run the exe on your PC. There are pretty simple step by step instructions on both the SSPL and Atermis pages.
After installing Atermis I also installed S2U2 via a cab file, which gives me a different un/lock screen; again there's easy instructions, though you do have to play around with the S2U2 config app to get the behaviour as you might want (e.g. background image, time format, caller display). All straight forward though as you install the cab, then it's available via the start menu/app list. I like it because it's more responsive on wake up and allows direct access to messages, etc on unlock.
Unfortunately it seems all the ROM flashing apps are windows based (it's a windows phone after all...), so I doubt you'd have fun trying to flash a ROM with a mac. Probably simpler all round to borrow a friends PC for 10 mins!
If you are going to flash a new rom though, it's definitely worth backing up your contacts and messages, etc. Microsoft myPhone works for me, and comes pre-installed.
