Hy all. I have a Siemens SX66 phone and currently have WM 6.1 flashed onto it. I've tried to flash WM 6.5 onto it and keep getting an error saying that it can't detect my device, even though it's definitely connected and synced with my PC. The versions I've tried to flash onto my phone are the standard and premium versions of the ROM. Does this ROM not flash onto the SX66, and if it does, what is it that I'm doing wrong for it to not see my device? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
if you run Windows Vista or above, pls refer to Wiki for the correct driver.
If you are running XP, you must kill ActiveSync (go to task manager and kill wescommgr.exe and rapimgr.exe). Also, make sure that your device is in bootloader prior to cradling the device.
On a side note, please do not open multiple threads with the same question on it. In fact, please search for an answer (either google, wiki, or xda's search engine) prior to starting a new thread. Thanks.

egzthunder1,
I am indeed running Windows XP. In following your directions, Activesync kept popping up automatically whenever I plugged the phone into the cradle. I would kill the 2 exe files you mentioned in the task manager, but they would just pop back up, so I went a step further and uninstalled activesync completely. I then plugged the phone into the cradle, ran "BaUpgradeUt" from the WM 6.5 package (the download is "Windows Mobile6.5Professional(QVGA)v7.9.25_HTCBA ROM"), and I STILL keep getting the same error message when I run the progrm, which is "Error 103: ROM Image File Not Found". I currently have the WM 6.1 ROM installed on the phone if that makes any difference. Any help to figure this problem out would be greatly appreciated.
you get that error, because you shouldn't use baupgrade, but MAupgradeut_noID.exe first of all. make sure the folder containing those two mentioned files also contains a "nk.nbf" file, because that is the rom

Chef_Tony is right on the money. The noID version was developed for this same exact reason. Also, you are correct about ActiveSync as it does pop up again, but if the device is cradled in bootloader mode, the PC will only recognize the device as an USB device rather than a pda. Therefore, AS will not sync with it and it will just be opened in the background.
I believe that there is an app called KillActiveSync somewhere in the Dev & Hacking section, which truly kills AS and prevents it from running. You could search for it if you need it, but it seems that your main problem was that you were in fact using the wrong RUU. Anyway, good luck, mate!

My friend, all I see is 2 things. #1, you are not placing your phone on Bootloader. That is why Active Sync is popping up. #2, after you uninstalled Active Sync, the upgrade utility cannot see the phone. Thats why you get the error. Install Active sync 4.5 again. Make sure you place your phone in bootloader, and follow the steps here
Good Luck.

Hi to all,
I have a very strange problem with the connection with activesync.
When i got the Qtek 2020, i was able to syncronise on the USB cradle easily.
After some time i decided to connect via bluetooth.
No problems there!
Activesync is working excellent via bluetooth!
But..
Now i cannot connect via USB !!!!!
I tried a fresh install on another PC of activesync (even the new version from MS), but nothing! The activesync icon is always grey! it cannot connect.
Windows find the USB cradle and the PPC OK, but nothing more.
The cradle and the PPC port must be working because i see that the battery is charging when i have it cradled.
In the PPC settings options--options i have the USB selected.
Any ideas??
TIA
try running
\windows\repllig.exe
and then put the device in the cradle

If you look at Rudegears reply you will see that the file is in the windows directory.
Sorry for hijacking, but I also have a problem with ActiveSync.
I previously used WM2003SE ROM2.06 (the one modified by ZeroExtreme). Then I took the plunge coz I couldn't resist trying out WM2005. The upgrade went fine, but then ActiveSync started acting weird. It synchronizes, but it stays minimized, no matter what I do. When I right-click on the taskbar tray (BTW I'm running WinXP SP2) and click on "open activesync", it opens, but again, stays minimized so I cannot get into the options or tools. I got pissed off so I rreverted back using XdA2JoJo and toenailed's Final version (the exe file). The update went fine. Naturally, I removed a ActiveSync 4 and installed AS 3.8 It was installed fine, and it recognizes my device, but it can't sync. It says connected but when I try opening AS it give me nothing. it doesn't even prompt me for a new partnership, even though I already deleted all previous partnerships. When I cchoose to "explore device" by right-clicking the taskbar icon, it gives me like a communication error and tells me to reset my PPC. I did, but still to no avail. I uninstalled and reinstalled AS3.8 and even AS3.7 - same problem. I searched the forum tried running replog.exe on my Xda2, nothing. Tried deleting everything including manually uninstalling AS by deleting its registry files - same problem. When I install AS4, it synchronizes alright, but again, AS4 won't open, it just stays minimized.
Sorry for a very long first post, and thank you for bearing with me. Please help me guys. Thanks in advance!
I had a similar problem. the answer:
Re-install activesync 4 WITHOUT the cradle or usb cable attached to the computer. plug it all in after the installation.
hope that helps.

It's not in my Windows folder!
I'm running Windows XP SP2
Activesync 3.8 is very slow... It actually stops responding whenever I dock my device - then starts working after a few minutes!
I thought this might fix my problem, but I can't find the executable anywhere!!!
First of all, I had some minor problems getting Activesync to recognize my 8525. (XP, Net 2.0). After a couple of driver updates or whatever, it finally worked!
I tried flashing to a different ROM but had problems during the HardSPL procedure. I stopped it, but THEN had some problems trying to connect my 8525 to the PC!! (Activesync again, ugh!) I uninstalled & re-installed Activesync like 3 times, and FINALLY got it to work again!
Now I have problems installing .CAB files to my 8525. I keep on getting the warning:
"The program is from an unknown publisher. You should install it only...."
I press "YES" and it comes as "unsuccessful".
I press "NO" and I get the "... program cannot be installed because it is not digitally signed with a trusted certificate".
Besides having installation problems, I also noticed that Activesync keeps on disappearing/uninstalling from my PC. I have to install Activesync 4.5 every time I turn on the PC.
Can some one tell me what's going on? What should I do? Should I do a "HARD RESET"? (I have done a SOFT RESET but to no avail). I would appreciate some help. Thanks!
I found out that I shouldn't do a HARD RESET because it will erase the "unlocked" feature in my phone. (I bought the phone unlocked).
I have researched the wiki, and some threads, and ACTUALLY someone else had this problem, way back in 2006. (The .CAB problem). But no one responded.
I also had to uninstall a program I had previously installed in my 8525 due to the fact that it stopped responding. It just wouldn't work anymore. I got the same "unsigned certificate" message.
I guess I'm going to RE-INSTALL Activesync ALLL over again. Maybe it will help it or something...
(This is literally going to be like the 5th time I install Activesync. And I just got the 8525).
IF ANYBODY CAN HELP ME WITH THE .CAB PROBLEM I WOULD APPRECIATE IT.
(I'm running WM6 Pro, AT&T)
freakin piece of crap!
its STILL NOT WORKING!!!!!
It USED TO WORK! I used to be able to install .CAB files. I have only installed 2 .cab files into internal memory (NO external. dont have one yet). I installed Opera Mini, and Wifi Radar. I also installed a couple of themes. I also installed animated themes but deleted them since they wouldn't work. (I think they required some other stuff). I also deleted all the themes except for one.
THEN one day, i tried doing that HardSPL-V7, and I got to the last step but quit since I got an error telling me that if I continue the (usb?)device could stop working.
Another time I tried installing SPB Finance 2.8 .CAB and that's when I noticed it would no longer install .CAB files. (It also won't install directly using .exe)
I researched Google and the forums, and found out a guy that had the same problem (no one responded).
Today I noticed that Pocket Wifi Radar wouldn't run. It said something about the certificates. I uninstalled it, tried to install it again, but it wasn't successful.
So far this has been the history of my 8525. Could it be because the "certificates" were installed in the ORIGINAL computer profile? Since I have installed Activesync many times, I noticed every time it creates a new profile. For example, the first time it was called "Windows PC". Then it was called "Windows PC2". Just right now I installed it again, and it was going to be named "Windows PC3", but I changed the name to something else, and of course it still didn't work.
Could ANYBODY give me some tips as to what I should do? Thank you.
go to settings>connections>usb to pc. uncheck "enable advanced network functionality".
if it syncs a few times with no problems run unlocker tool found in upgrades section. then hard spl then if you feel game enough upgrade os with one of your choice.
Hope this helps... cheers
holy cow, relax guy. you are not the only person to ever get the not digitally signed message.

as for the hardspl problem, i responded to that thread you created, didnt you see?
Ok, I tried what you mentioned ultra, and I got this message upon connecting the 8525 to the PC. (BTW, this is the SAME message that appeared when I was attempting to install HardSPL-V7),
HTC USB Sync
has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatability with
Windows XP.
Continuing your installation of this software may impair or disabilize the correct operation of your system either immediately or in the future. Microsoft strongly recommends that you stop this installation now and contact the hardware vendor for software that has passed Windows Logo testing.
I pressed "Continue" and it installed HTC USB Sync. But then I got the a message telling me "Activesync 4.5 or greater needs to be installed" (even though it IS installed). I ran through the setup again, and it would only let me "repair" or "uninstall". I pressed "repair". Afterwards it asked me to "restart". I did. Then upon loading back up, I connected the 8525 to the PC again, and I got the SAME message again (the one about it not passing Windows Logo). This time I pressed "STOP" and then I got the message about HTC USB Sync not being installed in the computer.
I have been fed up with the problems the 8525 has been giving me. My Clie UX was so much easier to manage. Quick question, I am REALLY leaning on doing a HARD RESET, but I think/kinda know, that if I do, it will ERASE WM6 correct? And go back to WM5?
Oh and yes xtreme, I have searched this on the search bar. And yes, I know you replied back, but you were referring to the Hard SPL. I am having problems w/ installing .CAB files.

dont hit stop dude, u're suppose to hit continue. hitting stop prevents the drivers from being installed and then the RUU wont run
Well I did press "Continue" the first time and I did not see any improvements. I just saw that it installed "HTC USB Sync".
I AM able to successfully install Activesync, I just can't get .CAB files to install.
Could it be because I pressed "STOP" whenever I tried using HardSPL? Should I try and run HardSPL AGAIN and this time pressing "Continue"?
Oh, and are you sure I'm supposed to press "Continue"? After all, I do get that error about Microsoft strongly recommends that you stop this installation. It sounds fishy pressing "Continue".
I just installed Activesync ALLLL over again, but this time in the D:/ drive... still the same .CAB problem.
Oh, and I no longer have the problem where Activesync would uninstall by itself. I noticed it fixed itself yesterday.
BUT I'm still having problems installing .CAB files.
1). hard reset will reset it back to factory its true BUT, and like j-lo's this is a big but, it will re install the last os on the phone (wm6) NOT the stock rom...
2). are you installing the .cab files from the computer or copying them to the memory card and installing from there?
If you install the .cab from the memory card it seems to work fairly well (at least from my experience). if its in a .exe format then it runs from the computer and requires activesync. if you have the .cab file then my suggestion is try to run it from the memory card.. Cheers..
Try installing the SDK certificates and see if that helps
Finally Works!!!!! Hard Reset!
OK, so I've been up for about 3hrs straight trying to figure this out. Reinstalled/uninstalled activesync... tried installing HardSPL again (twice)... didn't work. So I was like, you know what...f* it. I'm going to do a Hard Reset. I'm just gonna try it.
IT WORKED!!!! AND IT STILL STAYED IN WM6!!!! And I think it's still unlocked (although I've read from threads that a HR will disable the unlocked feature).
I AM GLAAAAD THAT I CAN INSTALL FILES NOW!!!! YAY!! (hehe). THANKS TO THOSE WHO TRIED TO HELP!!! SERIOUSLY. It feels really bad when no one tries to help you, even though you don't have a CLUE as to what to do.
** I solemnly swear I will no longer try to use HardSPL or try flashing to a different ROM*. I will use the ROM that came with the phone, and be glad everything is WORKING **
*= at least for until a couple of more months
AND for those who are having this problem (and it's a lot of ppl, based from search results), try a HARD RESET. It helped me anyways.
"and like j-lo's this is a big but"
Glad it worked but I wouldnt allow one bad experiance to turn you off flashing... If I were you I'd still flash hard spl ( in case you find something that you really like). It DOES make it easier to fix "bricks". But just to satisfy your curiosity, go to bootloader and see if it says that you have 2.10 or 2.30 SPL. Also if you want to try flashing, try the sd card method. Its a heap safer (from my experience) than flashing by activesync. Check the wiki for how to do it.
PS. you dot need to reformat the sd card. if you have all the stuff you want on it then just copy the .nbh to the root of the sd card and rename to "hermimg.nbh", it will load as soon as the hermes is put into bootloader and you wont have to re-install anything. Works every time for me and I've done it about 30 or 40 times...Cheers......

i think his problem is that he can't install .cab files period. he's having the same problem as me. my first phone had that prob, i updated .net 2.0 and it was fine. got my second phone here, update .net to 3.5, but still can't transfer/execute ANY cab files to my phone. the pc just doesn't recognize the phone period. i can't copy/paste, can't push anything through onto my phone. it's crazy. so what else can we do? i'd like to think i'm pretty tech savvy, but this isn't cool LOL
Hello,
now I cannot execute a 'not signed' .exe from my diamond, because of the 'not signed' error message.
I tried to see the first steps of the android port on the diamond touch. I had to remove the battery to stop the application. Since, it's not possible for me to execute any non-signed application (total commander, putty, ...).
Did you find a clean solution? I prefer not to go through the steps of reinstalling a new firmware (windows isn't accessible on my computer & I have a rather old backup of my diamond's files).
I allready have a hardspl, because my orginal ROM is from SFR (french operator)... and I prefer the original HTC version which is more beautiful & more uptodate.

Did anybody find a better solution than hard reset?

Just as the topic says. I saw a couple of people claiming to have used the seus to update and decided to try. I had the stock RA2 and wanted RA3.
When I connect the deivce, seus cannot recognize it. It makes several attempts (with the sound for new device found/unplugged) and then says that it could not recognize it. During this time the screen of the X1 flickers from the coloured stripes to a balck screen and there are multiple ActiveSync icons aperaing on the taskbar (all grey).
I have XP Pro SP3 03/09. Most of the topics I found were from people with Vista.
Any ideas? Now, I'm stuck with the stock RA1 until I find a solution.
I noticed something else. Just after the coloured stripes appear, there is a screen that pops up briefly and says "no image file!". After I plug the usb in, the bar with the 0% appears for a short moment, then the scrren goes black and returns to the coloured stripes. The cycle repeats all the time.
What is that "there is no image file!"???

1. Logon to Vista using your normal username and password.
2. Click on the Start button
3. Click on Start Search.
4. Type, cmd.
5. Right-click cmd, select 'Run as administrator' from the shortcut menu.
6. In the black 'DOS box', type the following at the command line:
Net help user
7. The idea of the last command is just to observe the options for Net User. In particular, examine the syntax to set the password.
8. The next instruction is the crucial command. I have chosen password = p£ssworD, you may want to choose different characters.
9. Net user administrator p£ssw0rd
10. Net user administrator /active:yes
11. Check the message : The command completed successfully
12. Switch User, or logoff
13. Logon as Administrator Password p£ssw0rD (Your password may be different!)
Trap1: There should be no space between the word 'active' and the colon.
/active :yes is wrong.
/active:yes is correct.
Trap2: You need a forward slash before /active
Net user administrator active:yes is wrong
Net user administrator /active:yes is correct
Thanks to Rob Hilton for pointing out this trap.
Trapx: Pay close attention to the command, it should be active, not activate.
I thank Ben O'Sullivan for correcting this activate --> active error.
Well, I also thought that I was the administrator until I realised that I was not... I am not sure if this is the case for you but maybe check again?
EDIT: Nevermind, you got an XP, I think it's most likely that you got a lot of software that conflicts with activesync and it's probably impossible to find the culprit
I would just update it with some else's computer..
the "no image file" warning upon boot is because there is an SD card in the phone, but no image on the SD card that can be used to update the phone

Report your current ROM. It is possible that your phone is in USB to PC mode instead of ActiveSync mode. It is also possible that your ROM has not been officially released.

I formatted the card FAT32. That should solve any issues. In order there to be an image for the update the SEUS should connect to the SD and copy that image in the first place.

The phone is in ActiveSync mode. As I said when the SEUS is trying to identify the phone there are multiple ActiveSync icons appearing on the taskbar. All of them are innactive (grey).
I use the official RA2. Updated through SEUS.
I know there is a stupid little issue that I am overlooking. It is something obvious every time. I can't find it this time though....
What I meant was that the ROM for you country/language has not been released. And I meant pc software that conflicts with active sync, if this is not the case then obviously R3A is not release.

That shouldn't conflict with SEUS recognizing my device though, right?
Here comes another day of experimenting to find the answer .
hello m8 i had once this problem when i a hardspl and then i wanted to update from seus.
what i did? i run the stockspl -> flashed a stock rom >then update froms seus.
it happened to me 2 times when i tried to flash custom roms or official roms via flash mode. the problem was solved both times
i dunno if that helps but u could try.

The thing is, I never flashed custom ROMs on this device. All the different ROMs I tried were flashed on another X1. The only thing I have done is hard reseting 10+ times and updating to RA2 via SEUS one time. That's it.
I guess it could work, but I will do it as a last resort. There is something wrong with my phone and I want to know what or at least how to fix it.
Like I said, your R3A has not been released. I will keep saying this until you tell me that you know 100% that the R3A for your Xperia has been released.
I too had the same issue. I also couldn't install the bootloader to load a custom ROM either. Skipping several hours of swearing, soft boots and repeatedly trying the same thing, I discovered the problem was with Kaspersky.
After disabling Kaspersky, I was able to load the Generic UK R3A off the SD card. Never got around to trying SEUS again, but have a go at disabling any internet security software you have.
I guess it's windows vista software issues (NOT POCKET PC SOFTWARE).
I have Windows XP on my laptop and whilst i could flash my x1 fine with the older SEUS client, since they upgraded to the new fancy looking client i face exactly the same problems. The x1 goes in USB mode and SEUS is starting/terminating several activesync processes in the background and then it fails.
Clear the Checkbox
I have Windows Vista Business running on my laptop.
I also have the problem of SEUS cannot indentify my X1 (but sometimes, it did recongize though very low succesful rate).
After clear the Checkbox : USB Connection allowed, in the Vista Mobile Devicecenter (before connecting the USB cable to X1), the SEUS can identify my X1 and I have tried it twice successfully.
Hop it can help.

Confirmed this trick. Just yesterday I was trying to update my X1 to R3A, but SEUS couldn't recognize my phone is connected. I've tried to activate built-in windows Administrator account, because it helped me when I was updating to R2A. But this time it didn't work. I was pretty confused, but after few minutes of searching on forum I found suggestion about uncheck that "USB Connection allowed" option. I did it, connected the phone and SEUS recognized it in a second. Tried 3 times and it worked like a charm.
I am running on Vista Home Premium 32bit.
Hi all, I'm a total noob at this but I've read every possible thread about the Tmous 1024 HD2 concerning flashing hspl2_1024 and the error code that says failed usb connection.
My problem is a bit different from the others' problems but I'll try to be as thorough as I can.
Let me start off first by listing my phone and all of its "stats"
TMOUS HTC HD2
Ram - 576MB
Flash - 1024MB (I'm guessing that this is the ROM size)
OS version - 5.2.21889
Manila Version - 2.5.20121412.1
ROM version - 2.10.531.1 (82076) WWE
Radio Version - 2.08.50.08_2
SPL - 2.08.0000
I'm at the very beginning of the process (flashing the hspl). I've read mskips tutorial backwards and forwards several times.
The first problem is that WDMC doesnt pop-up when the phone syncs with the comp. Matter fact, the green WMDC screen has never shown up on my comp., not even when I go into the start menu and click WMDC (I've tried every usb port on the comp and have visited microsofts website and downloaded and installed their WMDC a few times). All that comes up when I click WMDC is the connection settings that says Device connected.
The second problem is that when i click the next screen on the hspl2 install window, I get an error window that says something about rapi.dll not being able to be found (i get that error twice and then it seems to resume installing).
Following that, I get the usb failed connection error (a couple minutes later) and hspl2_1024 closes down. My HD2 never goes to the tri-color bootloader screen. I've tried going into the bootloader screen prior to installing hspl2_1024 but that didnt work either.
I'm completely stumped and have searched this forum for the answers to no avail. I've done a hard reset and tried again, but that didnt work. The only thing I havent tried is putting the hspl2 on my sd card and doing it from there, which from what I've read over the past few days is basically considered a no no.
I need help and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Would have pictures but the forum wont allow me to post any.
Flashing TMO HD2
Back up all data on your phone before flashing.
This is what I did and worked.
Assuming you purchased the HD2 in the US from TMOBILE.
1. Change your sync settings on your phone to use Active Sync not the usb.
2. Plug in your device to your computer. Hopefully it recognizes your phone. (If it doesn't then you might need to re-install the windows mobile device center)
3. Once connected run HSPL2_1024. Follow instructions there and should connect. Your phone should have the RGB screen. HSPL program will prompt you which version you want to install. I used 1.0 as it was the only selection
4. When completed it should say something with "HACKED"
5. Reset your phone by taking out the battery for 5 seconds.
6. Once it's powered on it should connect through Windows Mobile Device Center.
7. Now it's time to flash your custom ROM. Hopefully you have the CustomRUU.exe file together with the nbh file.

Mine never comes up either,
click start and start typing 'windows mobile .....' in teh search box and you should see it come up in the list. (round green icon)
either right click that and choose pin to start menu or drag it to the desktop as a link, then you can start it manually. You should find that once you are using it, it starts to come up on its own 'most' of the time.
never mind it seems my computer is to blame... issue solved!
Hi Guys,
Got a new htc hd2 from tmobile in the uk, got last years september rom on it and found that it had an old rom on it, needs upgrading and wanting to put a updated rom, but wanted a rom that had all the bells and whistles,
currently it keeps freezin when sending txts an randomly crashes, had a couple of them, an thought it was phone til i realised all software related an needs seriously updating, but thought would go the whole hog then not do it for a while lol
Never done this before and a bit of a noob, have been reading through the stickys, but still abit unsure
Wasnt sure wether i would be able to put windows 7 or android on it, so if need be will stick to just winmo 6.5 but wanted a rom that gave me some decent apps with it, like those power/cooked roms, but didnt know what to go for, what would be best
never installed apps before, apart from through windows marketplace,
So hints tips an a great step by step noobie guide would be great,
Cheers for reading

Rom!! ???
I'm not being rude, but you really need to search forum. There are lots of threads about just what you are needing. WM7 is not available, android, they are working on, no idea when. Give search a try. lots of info,,,,
I did search the forums, i have been searching, hence how i obtained the info,
i know there are a lot of different cooked roms, but nothing that can help me differentiate which to choose from,
tbh ALL I want on the rom is probably like an e-reader and a torch, anything else is a bonus lol,
but i cant seem to locate something that says this is the one that wont cause me any issues, i am tempted just to grab the stock rom off htc, as that should resolve most of the issues with the phone

thats probably your best bet until you are more comfortable with flashing.
Grab the 1.72 and go with customising that.
Help

It will connect to usb while the phone is running, but as soon as it drops to bootloader the usb connection will not get passed back to xp.
you will not get hspl to work in a virtual environment or bootcamp. (or so i hear, i dont have a mac, i just read a lot )
You 'may' get flashing to work from bootcamp, but deff not hspl.
You will need to use a windows machine to instal hspl.

I resisted using a non "stock" ROM for a while, but I eventually got fed up with even the latest version that was released for O2 (1.72).
Yesterday I installed the Atermis v14 ROM, which I have to say stands head and shoulders above the standard release ROMs.
I chose it for two reasons, after looking on the "HTC_Leo/ROMs" page on the wiki attached to the site. First was that it was described as "Combines the latest WM 6.5.5 version with latest Manila 2.5.2012 (Leo 2.11) for HD2.This ROM Family is stable , fast and very close to stock ROM "Philosophy"." Second because it was first on the list
I found it really easy to install, using SSPL; you just put the downloaded ROM image and SSPL exe into a folder, connect your phone via USB with ActiveSync of Device Centre, and run the exe on your PC. There are pretty simple step by step instructions on both the SSPL and Atermis pages.
After installing Atermis I also installed S2U2 via a cab file, which gives me a different un/lock screen; again there's easy instructions, though you do have to play around with the S2U2 config app to get the behaviour as you might want (e.g. background image, time format, caller display). All straight forward though as you install the cab, then it's available via the start menu/app list. I like it because it's more responsive on wake up and allows direct access to messages, etc on unlock.
Unfortunately it seems all the ROM flashing apps are windows based (it's a windows phone after all...), so I doubt you'd have fun trying to flash a ROM with a mac. Probably simpler all round to borrow a friends PC for 10 mins!
If you are going to flash a new rom though, it's definitely worth backing up your contacts and messages, etc. Microsoft myPhone works for me, and comes pre-installed.
