My wife got a Touch 3g about 2 months ago with orange and recently it has started dropping call. We can talk for about 2 mins and will just cut out. even if we are sitting down and not moving in a good reception area.
Any one got any ideas or know if there is an offical ROM update for this phone?
Thanks.
At first it would be helpful to try another SIM-card (different provider) for some days. This is important to decide if the reason is your handset or the radio cell. We here have one base station that tends to drop calls on different handsets.

I live in the greater phoenix area and my zone has very good coverage, or so the CSR says. When I am inside a building, any building, i get 1-2 bars 3g and am constantly falling back to the 1x network. I was at a doctors office the other day and had no reception at all, I called sprint and they sent me a AIR RAVE for free and are waving the $5 a month for 24 months, that's great and all but that's not going to help me when i'm not at home.
I had it replaced right after i got it from a friend with a 'new' phone when i took it in a few weeks ago after my sprint TV refused to work, so i can't say how the reception was on the last phone because I had just got it. I say 'new' because it's got 2000+ calls on the timer and i've had it less then 3 weeks.
Does the Vogue have naturally horrible reception, or does this sound like a bad phone?
I'm currently running
NFSFAN's 6.5 rom v11
radio: 3.42.30
PRL 60613
you could update your prl to 60652 by dialing *2. If your phone doesn't update automatically you can talk to one of the reps and have them do it but it takes a while the second way.
yeah I did that and updated however with no change in reception
Hello All
Is anyone having lower signal with the Hero? I have downloaded CellFinder and it reports a signal of -109Db most of the time, (1 bar). sometimes I get to 2, 3 bars but never full. I mate who is also on orange gets 4 bars on his win mob phone.
On Orange website it says i should have excellent reception where I am at (work).
Just wondering if anyone else has these issues.
This mate is getting his Hero tomorrow so i will compare and if he gets signal then i will get a new one off orange.
My signal is a bit rubbish to where I live - The diamond was a bit better but my SE 995 does hold the signal at home but even that still drops.
I was thinking of backing the device
I blame Orange. Going to be sending mine back in next couple of days and getting the T-Mobile one.

This is more of a HTC issue IMO as its the same with t-mobile where I live with HTC handsets.
so do the majority of people have bad signal?

Sending it back under the 7 day agreement?
Yeh, I'm having signal issues too, I'v had the handset replaced, issue still remains.
Yup, received it last Thursday so have a couple of days before I need to ring them. Hopefully going to still have the Hero when T-Mobile stores get the G2 in so I can use it as a bargaining tool :-D, nothing says I'm prepared to leave T-Mobile like having already signed up with Orange.
I've been using HTC phones for the past 6 years and have no real complaints about signal strength on T-Mobile. Very rarely have no signal and usually have a fast 3G signal. The Hero on Orange is terrible where I am. Unfortunately can't try my T-Mobile sim in the Hero as it's locked.
Did someone not say on this board that they have unlocked their Hero. If you are listening, have you tried other sims? do they get a better reception?
Just remember its 7 working days and not including the delivery day not just 7 days - so if I got my phone last Wednesday - I have until this Friday to contact Orange about the return.
I'm just undecided as the iPhone but not 3Gs is coming Oranges way soon.
@ home
on my diamond i got 3/4 bar.....now i get only 1
my diamond was the same till i flashed the radio
This looks to be a firmware issue with the hero. Similar to the prob iPhone 3G had when it first went on sale.
Hope HTC get on it.
Crikey my signals S**T hot!
I have a H most of the day at work which normally i`m lucky if i have 3G.
I suppose now your gonna ask with which phone i had this with..
I mostly get H but only 1, 2 bar.

LOL Yeh just looked i have 1/2 bars also!!!
I was not happy with the signal either. Decided to bite the bullet and return it. Back on the kaiser until a: the signal is solved, b: local syncing is solved and c: copilot is 'solved'.
I need 'real' satnav. Come on Garmin
Shame to hear another singal prob with HTC again. My diamond was crap to begin with but the updates sorted it in the end. My Hero is due to be delivered on Thursday.
Can those experiancing signal issues also state what network they are on. Maybe Voda and O2 on the lower bands my differ from Orange and T-Mobile on the higher?
Thanks.. Mark
Well, I'm sticking with mine as I only have signal issues at home in my old stone built house when downstairs - otherwise the signal seems OK and I get mainly (H)
I was on Orange (I still am but with a Kaiser).
I'm using Vodafone. Good signal Strength with me.
Hey guys,
Just wondering if any t-mobile htc hd2 owners was one the WIND carrier. Just want to know how your experience was with this carrier, and if its worth it. Like any drop calls or any calls being not made. Those kind of problems or any other issues you might of experienced.
THXXX in advance
I just have Wind for onE day so far i have one drop call and that maybe due to my older Nokia fone which i test it with the caling (while charging via usb on my notebook and the connection bar up and down and i live in Coquitlam -- bad signal area!)
i also received call from US, Alberta with no problems so far

Having had this X10 for 4 weeks now, I have to say it's been uphill. Coming off the TREO line (who had more than it's fair share of issues) Then to WIN6. I was pretty happy to get all the feature rich options on this Sony.
Problem I'm having here is connections.
In the 4 weeks, I've had 3 occurrences (lasting days at a time) where the network will not deliver calls to the phone. Right to voice mail. I've swapped the SIM into my old BlackJack II and still no calls incoming OR out going. I get "NETWORK BUSY". With my girlfriend having bought the same phone a week later than I did, she is having the same issues at the same times.
Albeit mine is flashed with generic NA, rooted etc.. I don't see this as being a contributor to this issue. So my question to Southwestern Ontario X10 users is.. Are you getting the same type of issues?
-Calls not going out or coming in.
-Data will not go out or come in via 3G or WiFi
-Dropped calls
-Calls straight through to voice mail
Rogers TECH level 2 says nothing (calls maybe monitored for training purposes) and for firing their rear ends should they cast shadow on Rogers holy cow 3G mess. A girl in iPhone support said 3G issues since beginning of Sept. My guy didn't have the minerals to admit it.
Wait, are you having issues with Wi-Fi too? Because that shouldn't have anything to do with Rogers.
I live in SW Ontario (Windsor) and neither I nor anyone I know has been having issues with reception.
Did this just start happening recently? I don't know how to fix it, but you could definately get some free stuff added to your plan if you argue with Rogers about how you don't get any reception
I live in London ON, with no problems at all with connection our reception I have 4 bars as I type but yah if your having problems with WiFi then defiantly something more then just connectivity issues more like a hardware issue.

I live in Hamilton, and know for a fact that they've been having issues around here, because I've seen the techs working on the towers! That being said, I've noticed a lack of getting a 3G signal in those areas, not a lack of data coming through.
As previous posters said, if WiFi isn't working either, it's gotta be a device problem.
I'm in the Caledon area and the calling portion of the phone has been solid. I've had a problem the last few days but I've confirmed with Rogers that the local tower is messed.
Did you get a new SIM card when you got the X10? I've heard folks are having problems with older Sim cards.
No problems with signal here in Ottawa. Phone calls always seem to get through, and sound fine. Think I've had one dropped call since getting the phone, and that was at my work where the building tends to cause general reception issues on most phones.
Definitely try a new SIM if you haven't already. My X10 wouldn't even boot with the SIM from my old phone.
Brantford here, no connection problems whatsoever.
Thornhill, Ontario here. I'm on Fido, but they use the same network as Rogers anyway. No connection issues here. In fact, much better reception on my X10 than previous phones (iPhone 3g, Motorola Milestone).
Kingston, ON here and no problems as well. Though I did have issues when I got the phone and I used my old sim card. Tech said to get new sim card so I did and no issues since then! Ive had the device 7 weeks now.

I live in London and since early September a lot of us have been experiencing network problems on/near UWO campus. Very delayed sms messages, inability to place phone calls, spotty (at best) 3G coverage and consequently very slow data speeds. Many of us have contacted Rogers and complained about it, supposedly it's due to a "poor coverage area" totally isolated around the university, but most likely their network is just overwhelmed now with number of students back in town, hopefully they address and fix these issues soon.

I live in woodstock and have had no issues at all. Sorry man

Newmarket 4 solid bars no issues at all.
My old sim card did not like the xperia, new one has been just fine.
No probs here in East York (Toronto).
Mississauga here, no problems at all!
When I talked to tech support yesterday I was told Rogers was aware of and resolving the network problems in south western Ontario, mainly the London area I guess (which where I am) has been experiencing a lot of issues the past couple weeks. Has nothing to do with reception bars or anything on the X10, any device on Rogers has been experiencing the same thing. Hopefully Rogers sorts it all out soon
Toronto, on. i had alot of issues with the phone such as receiving txts like 4 hours late, losing 3g for couple of hours, having 100 dropped calls a day. rogers told me x10 requires new sim (bs imo), got a new sim, same issue. got a new phone, all the other issues went away however i still have 10-20 dropped calls a day.
Rogers is aware of the 3G network issues from woodstock to windsor. It's been a long month of issues.
I think it has to do with many people getting smart phones and using more of the network. meh my .02
I'm in Windsor and have been experiencing the same problems. Rogers knows about it. I work in a factory and when the network goes down it is all smartphones, Iphones, X10, htc etc. I have checked. I advise everyone to call Rogers and demand a bill credit. Most of the guys at work have called and gotten half their bill credited for the month and will do so again next month if the problems still exist. I will definitely be calling customer service myself tomorrow.
Just received my new RAZR M 2 days ago and initially it seems to have a much worse antenna then my cheap old Nokia C2 which is disappointing to say the least.
With my old C2 i could easily make and receive calls everytime with no problems if i walked out to the end of my driveway, and i could send and receive texts inside my house if i held it in the sweet spot (I live in rural area close to a city) but the RAZR wont get any signal at all except for maybe a couple of seconds, it cant even receive texts. Also i parked right beside a cell phone tower today with nothing but clear air in between me and the tower and made a call and the 15 minute call dropped once. I was calling an iphone with 5 bar signal so i think it was my RAZR that dropped the call. While parked here my signal was only 4 bars -57db. In this exact spot i always got full bars with my nokia and never dropped a call.
So does anyone know is this typical behaviour for the RAZR or should i return it and get a replacement? Or is there any ways to fix this prob? From some research i have done i hear that the radio gives trouble in this phone and a custom ROM will likely make it worse.
Any info/ opinions anyone has would be gratefully received...
I would definitely return it. I've always had good signal on my M. Motos are supposed to have pretty good radios, so it definitely seems like something is wrong with your phone.
I agree with RikRong. Or try a new Sim first. But no, that doesn't sound typical.

Thanks guys.
When you say try a new sim do you mean a sim with a different provider or do you mean the actual sim card itself could be faulty?
New sim card from same provider.
