Wing won't find network - Wing, P4350 General

Keeps searching for network. Same SIM works fine with other phones.
I have flashed 2 different ROMS...
WM 6.1 and WM 6.5
Also updated Radio twice from 3.18.90 <=> 3.21.90 and back but no improvements.
This same phone was working fine couple of days back.. Is there a possibility that the antenna connection has come loose, is there any diagnostic tool to see whats happening with the radio.
There are some great Wing/Herald gurus here... I hope someone can help me out.

Ok.. I opened the sucker and cleaned up the contacts near antenna but still same thing..
Is it possible that radio is dead.. anyone know how to replace it or fix it or diagnose the problem.

Phone cut off problem! Have tried everything i can think of

Hi Everyone
Got a Wizard (badged as an O2 XDA MINI-S) about 4 weeks ago but having nothing but problems with the phone functionality.
The problem:
The phone will loose connection to the O2 network. I could be in the middle of a phone conversation for 3 mins or so and it will act like it has lost reception. I look at the screen - it shows the call still connected and the signal strength shows full. Then the screen will say disconnected and the signal strength will drop to nothing yet the GPRS indicator will still be there. I either have to reset the phone or switch the phone to flight mode and back out of flight mode! This problem occurs if i make calls or recieve them.
I bought the phone on the standard ROM from O2 then upgraded it to the ROM version 2.21.4.101 which gave me the push functionality AUTD. I didn't use the phone long enough to tell if this problem occured after the ROM update.
Thanks to Faria and Machinagod's postings on here i was able to CID unlock the wizard to try a different ROM to see if that cured the problem. So i put the IMATE K-JAM ROM version 2.16.9.1 on yesterday, didn't add anything else on it, still the same problem!!
Any ideas anyone? i'm pulling my hair out now!!
First i would try cleaning the sim contacts, both on the sim and device. Sometimes faulty contacts lead to this problem. (poss faulty sim - have you another sim you can try?)
Next i would contact o2 to check there is no fault at their end e.g. faulty transmitter, computer systems.
If none of these solve the problem then its prob a faulty radio on your device and i would exchange for a new one.

Do you have a SD card inserted ?
If so remove it for the day and see if the problems persist.
Thanks for the suggestions guys.
The SIM card works fine in other phones (i've not had this one for long!) so i hope thats not the problem but i'll give it a shot. I'll try getting rid of all the contacts etc on the sim and phone and see what that does.
SD card - yes i have one inserted now but the problem was still happening when i didn't have one in there.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks for your help so far

heheh i think he means the actual contacts on the SIM! you know the metal bit of the SIM that makes contacts with the pins inside the phone!
not your phone book contacts!
HAHAHA LOL Stupid me!!!
lol thanks for pointing that out.
right - that didn't work anyone else have any ideas what could be causing this?

I am having the exactly same problem.
I am going to request a new SIM card from O2 as I think it is due to the SIM. Will let you know my result.

Exchange your phone - maybe a faulty radio in your phone. You could try a new sim but as you said you've tried it in other phones and they are ok.
Darklondon - thanks very much i'd appreciate the feedback!
Meschle - i've got to say i think i agree the phone has a problem! i just hope that if darklondon manages to resolve his issue with a sim card mine will work with the same resolve.
I also have this problem. Im on the T-Mobile network in the netherlands. When it cuts off you can see that there is no more radio contact (there is a cross on top). It then resets the radio and gets back. Within 10 seconds of the cut off i can be called and call back????
it's been a month since my last reply and I havenot yet change my SIM yet
however, i think i found the problem, at least, i think so.
the constantly cut off issue, for me, it's due to the overclocking. initially i overclocked my CPU to 264, which brought the instability to kill the "phone" program constantly. if you have any task manager try to kill a "phone" program, and you will see the signal bar goes off completely.
so, i changed my overclocking to 242. problem solved, no more cut off now.
wow really?! but i'm not overclocking .... mayube i should! i don't see the phone program in task manager?
I can see the "phone" program or say thread with SmallMenuPlus and vBar. And sometimes I can see more than one.
hm, I don't see a "phone" process with Memaid, but I'll try the reducing of overclocking too, since I have the same problem. 240 is the nearest option to 242 though in my omapclock...
Lars
I've found that this problem occurs using many of the AKU2 ROMS out there along with an application that requests a GPRS connection on a very frequent basis (GoodLink for me, MSFP, Agile Messenger for others).
The problem is that the application requests a GPRS connection, and for some reason the device decides to drop the call in order to connect.
For myself, this started happening after upgrading from a 2.17 summiter ROM, and continues regardless of what ROM post 2.17 I use. I've also tried flashing many different Radio ROMS, all to no effect.
I've been back to 1.8, and that's solved the problem. I'm now using a 2.17 ROM that I flashed today to see if the problem persists there.
This isn't an overclocking problem - as I never overclock.
I have a AKU2 ROM installed, though I never use GPRS (way too expensive here). So that can't really be it I guess...

WM6 upgrade - then no network

I upgraded to WM6 artemis touchflo ROM. Worked fine initially then I lost the network. Is constantly searching.
Try Find Network and just searching
Try change Network selection to manual and get following message:
Network error
Cannot read settings from the network, Try viewing settings later or disconnect data connection and try again.
Retry Cancel
Get the same error if I try Set Networks.
Can anybody help please ?
Saw this on the HTC website today ''The TyTN becomes the first HTC device to get the upgrade, with the HTC P3300, S620 and Advantage also scheduled to receive the upgrade from August''
Have you tried doing a soft reset? (stylus in the hole)
I've tried soft reset, hard reset the lot. Still no joy
Can't think of any other good ideas off hand. Maybe try a reflash?
Why not try just re-flashing the radio first.

Thanx - re-flashed the radio but still the same problem. Is there anything else I can try please ?
I never thought I'd say this piece of CS crap, but have you checked the contact of the SIM card, try cleaning the SIM with a dry cloth.
Otherwise a re-flash of the ROM is probably the next best step.
Can you check the SIM works OK in a different phone?
Thanx - SIM works fine in another handset and have flashed back original T-Mobile ROM. Could it be anything to do with the WM6 ROM I used ?

Yes, If you desperately want Touchflo, then Tom's B&B 4 is imminent, his track record at ROM releases can't be faulted.
Sorry don't think my last post was very clear. Have flashed back to the original T-Mobile ROM and still same problem no networK
Oh! That's not good.
Sounds suspiciously like a hardware failure then.
Still under warranty?
Got it fixed under warranty by local T-Mobile store Thanx for your help and advice
what was the issue then, i am having the same issue with my orbit, and can not seem to find the problem? i reflashed all versions of the radios, and changed to all kinds of sims availabe on Rogers network in Canada, and the phone works fine from all features, except it does not conenct to the network??? when i do search the network, it reads all the towers available, but does not register on any network !!!
the first time i changed the sim worked like a charm for 30 min, and then the phone de-registrerd itself from the network, and i could not connect again. i could always get it to work for maybe an hour at the most everytime i change to a new sim card, but this is not a solution and a costy one

Please help!! SX66 radio

I've loved my Blue Angel for 2 1/2 years thanks to xda-developers, but right now I just wanna throw it away!
I have a Cingular SX66 (PH20B1) running WM6 from Xplode (6.00.00.WWE) and the radio 1.15. After I upgraded to WM6 everything was kind of OK I thought, until I realized that sometimes calls weren't getting through to me and I was getting 'No service' too often. That's when I upgraded the radio to 1.15. I was getting the no radio error, but I found through searching that if I soft reset and keep the phone charged the radio comes back.
Here's my problem.. even when the phone gets out of 'No service' and finds the network (even showing me full signal strength) I can't make calls! Calls won't come through to me! It's pretty useless as a phone, but it seems to be usually able to send text messages if I have the network. It takes endless soft resets and long waiting just to get it to see the network, and then the phone still doesn't work.
The sim card is fine, and it seems the problem is the same if I downgrade to 2003SE (by the way, I only seem to find T-mobile ROMs that work.. don't know where the WM2003SE ROM is I originally had on here).
The phone only seems to work sometimes if I after I soft-reset, I make the call while the BA is still on the cradle.
If anyone knows of a solution I'd really appreciate it.. on WM2003 my SX66 would only act funny if the charge fell to 60%. Now it's wacky with all the up/downgrading/charging/soft-resetting I've tried.
Thanks!
Additional info
I don't know if this is related, but I have the storage almost full of installed programs and the device is much slower now. Also, the Data Connection buttion is grayed out in HTC Comm Manager.
The phone seems to be working right now. Give it an hour and it'll probably be wacked again
Final solution for 'No service'
Hi burnblue...
Try this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340557
This resolved my problem...
1) In WM2003 and install bandsel .CAB
2) Choose a band of your operator gsm/country (in Brazil, for my operator is 900/1800Mhz (Operator "Claro" and "TIM")... here in Brazil we have another operator what works in 850mHz (Operator "Vivo").
3) If you want, upgrade your rom for WM6 (much better)... your band selection will be fixed (came to wm2003). I don´t undertand about fixing a band remain after rom version upgrade... No explain about this.
No more issue about radio gsm signal, be happy....
Works perfect to me, I´m 100% certain about this procedure.

"no service" is a issue...
Your problem about slower is another problem...
Storage full ~ slower... I had problem´s about these in anothers pda´s.
Take easy to storage your files, much components in today screen, etc...
Use sd card, this help.
Upgrade for Wm6 (xplode rom) and be happy...
WM6 by xplode is faster.
What´s your radio rom version? 1.15 ?
If < 1.15, then upgrade....

Thanks for the advice rod, but I still have problems.
1. I saw that thread too, and it's not that I have totally 'No service' -- I have signal but calls just won't connect. It might work one minute, but 90% of the time it just doesn't.
2. I can't find a working ROM for my SX66 to downgrade to 2003. I remember weeks ago when I was trying to fix this I think I found a T-mobile ROM, but nothing is working for my downgrade now.
Why is my phone radio so unreliable?
Strange problem...
I have some tests for you...
1) Do you enable PIN ? If yes, then disable.
2) Do you upgrade your radio rom to 1.15? No? Then apply.
3) Do you have problems with anothers gsm chip ? Your SX66 is gsm or cdma ? Possible issue in your gsm chip, maybe... Try another gsm, another operator...
4) What´s the message errors or problems with upgrade or downgrade rom ?
If your sx66 is a cdma phone, sorry, I don´t have any idea how to help you.
In this case, ignore all my questions. My experience in Blue Angel is about gsm...
Take care...
(Send a message if you resolve or not this case...)

HTC P3450 Network Connection Problem

I am having a problem with my HTC Touch P3450 phone for the past 2 weeks. Although the GSM signal looks good, I am not able to make/receive calls. I am on "Phone" mode (not Flight Mode or similar). Everything else (WiFi, programs etc.) works fine.
My operator is Turkcell and I live in Istanbul, Turkey. The phone was purchased from the United States.
I have done a ROM update to ROM version 1.17.707.2B WWE but the problem still exists.
Has anyone else experienced this kind of problem? I suspect that this issue has something to do with the 3G upgrading process going on in Turkey.
Can you try to use your friend's sim card and see whether it works.
Is it something like a dropped call?
I tried two different SIM cards, one with my operator and one with another operator. I am still having the same problem.
The problem is that I cannot make any calls at all, rather than dropped calls.
Also I cannot take any calls, when I call myself from another phone it goes to voice mail as if the phone is turned off.
I guess it is a hardware problem then.

bsnl sim not working
Hello there.....
I am from Bangalore,India. i was using BSNL SIM for 2years. suddenly one day the Sim was dead. i thought sim problem so replaced 2 times after that got AIRTEL Sim. now its working fine. the problem is with 2 or 3 carrier operators. STRANGE!!!!!!!!
i have this problem too nobody to help pelease
tanx
please some one help me.....
I have been investigating this issue on and off for a few months now on one of my elf’s. I originally bought this phone off eBay to test stuff, and found no signal was being received when I got it. The auction did say this so fine. Checkmend says it is not blocked in any country, and is not stolen etc. Therefore, it is definitely something on the phone opposed to networks.
The phone can pick up signal, it noes networks exists, and can identify them, however, when registered and "connected" it does not pick up messages, and when I try to make a phone call the signal completely drops.
I like others have tried many roms. I have even tried every signal radio. I have also tried 6 different working Sims across a number of operators.
Basically, I think this issue is hardware, I mean, there really isn't anything else that I can think off. I have done some reading, and I *think* it may be down to the PA chips. There are 2 off these in the phone, one for Radio signal, and the other for Bluetooth, and wifi. (I think that is it).
These are located just above the battery on the back of the circuit board from what I can see, protected by 2 parts. One removable (two top screws - also contains the speaker) and one fixed into the middle part of the body.
I've done some playing, and it seems may be easy to break, either by dropping the phone, or even possibly by something as little as keeping the phone in a pocket and sitting on it.
I am not sure where I can go from here. I may need to investigate this further, but it is looking like it is going to be a dead end, considering I am not able to BGA solder to replace it, and expect the cost in doing so outweighs buying a new phone. I'm going to look into signal amplifiers, and see if I can find one that’s not just a piece of tin foil, and actually works. It will be interesting to see if that will improve the signal far enough for the phone to be usable once again. I may even just try with some kitchen foil, or by plugging in an external aerial (which I do not have yet, and may be costly, and therefore no point). If the external aerial works, I guess the chip could only be damaged, and not able to get enough strength itself.
This is only a theory on what I think is wrong with my Phone, and may be different to what everyone else’s is. But i thought I should put it out, to see if anyone else is able to confirm/kill my idea. It is a theory after all, they are made to be proven!
If anyone else has any ideas, feel free to pitch them, I like hearing what others are thinking, and it may be possible, although I admit very unlikely, that we could find a resolution to this issue!
Stu
@ashkan62 , can you provide a detailed problem please, this may give me something more to look at that I have missed.
wow. that's really informative. I've done upgrading radio roms too and even the spl. but nothing happened. hope your investigation on this works. thanks for the info.

No signal Tmous HD2

Please help me fix my beloved HD2 I have replaced my HD2 with one I purchased off ebay a few weeks ago, as the hardware on my old one failed. Anyway, it turns out that the one I purchased off ebay is a TMOUS HD2. Anyhow, the phone works perfectly in every operation, except the most vital feature, cellular connection!
On the original Windows Mobile 6.5 rom, I just get an exclamation mark where the signal should be. When I search manually on network selection I can only see Orange that comes up. This is no use to me as I am on GiffGaff (ran on the O2 network).
On android, under the status screen I can see that there is signal being recieved, but most of the other boxes say things like provider unknown etc. The signal says something like 103db, -3asu (these are only the figures I remember), so I can see that some signal is working.
On windows phone it says No Service on the phone icon. I have tried the APN tool and it still does not work
What could this be? I have reflashed some different radios and it still does not work. The simcard worked perfectly with my previous european HD2. I have now spent about 8 hours tonight trying to get it working ;(
Many thanks

run htc connection setup obtained from the htc marketplace part of the windows phone marketplace. those numbers you see under android is the signal strength numbers. did you not know you were buying a tmous phone from ebay and not the european version? the phone should still work as the hd2 is a quad band phone.
anyway, the connection setup app is what you need. make sure your cellular connection is on in settings.

hey man, cheers for the reply! I thought that it was a european phone, the pictures showed a generic HD2 with white buttons, so they must have just used a stock picture, I was quite happy that it was a tmous one, because of the extra ROM. Anyhow, in windows phone 7 I did actually run the HTC connection setup, and configure it to giffgaff, but I still cannot call people as it says there is no service :/ I have reinstalled android and the signal strength is -95dBm and 0asu, is that a bad signal?

try locking the radio to 2G GSM in settings & see if you can get on the GiffGaff network.
Try some other sims to help eliminate a network issue.

I have enabled 2G in the android preferences on the typhoon rom, I have also inserted a different simcard (BT) and the same issue occurs
Could it be a radio issue? I have my suspicions that this is a refurb phone, could the antennas not be touching the chassis properly?

I just wiped data/factory reset in the recovery, rebooted phone and got signal for about a second. I got two texts through and now the signal has gone, now it is at 0dbm and 0asu????
Sounds odd, try a WM6.5 rom such as NRG & one of the top radios such as linked in my sig & see if you get it working then move on to ROM of your choice or pin it down to hardware issue ...
I have a TMOUS HD2 & have used it fine on Orange, Vodafone in the UK. If issue persists on WM6.5 I would suspect hardware issue !

Hey, cheers for trying to help!
I installed the stock WM6.5 rom and suddenly I got 5 texts and there were 4 bars of signal. A minute later all signal was gone and no matter how hard I tried I could not get any
This was after I opened up the phone and made some fixes.
It turns out the phone is a refurb unit that the seller was trying to sell as brand new! I was first alerted to this when I saw the original sticker seal was replaced with a Chinese one, and the grill near the earpiece had dirt in it. Most of the antenna prongs on the mainboard were bent down, so I bent them back up. All of the screws that were meant to be securing the main board down were also missing. This is a word of warning to those buying off ebay. The company I bought this off were a very large Chinese company, but it would appear that they refurbish phones, make them look new and try to sell them as new, and most of them work. The link to the seller is below:

Do not buy from them!
